Buckethead actually seems to be somewhat wholesome and doesn't have a lot of drama going on. If you read his bios, he seemed to have a pretty simple and straightforward childhood. Not to assume things. But what's especially endearing to me is how SUPPORTIVE his parents were! Especially since, from the beginning, he was taking on the avant-garde horror-mask/KFC-bucket approach. But it was wholesome reading about how he and his parents dropped demos off at a label when he was like 19 and then went out for lunch afterward. The 18:51 cover featuring his dad is so endearing, and you can imagine how sad Buckethead was when his father passed. But yeah, very wholesome. Giving out gifts during shows. A lack of drugs and sex in his persona and career.

Daaaamn I loved this video! It kept me awake way past sleepy time but it was worth the watch. Tasteful editting you got there, synchronizing some video clips to the background music, that little windows sound when you said "connects" got me rewinding haha. I'm pretty sure there are many other little details I've missed but overall, great video!
Amazing and comprehensive. The fact that you grinded thru his massive catalog is so awesome. I'm doing a challenge of wanting to release more music than buckethead. He got a head start cause I was born 92. But I'm catching up quick!!!
@19:48, Pike 219 Raindrops on Christmas was released on Christmas and It was initially free for a short time. The album with the elves on it was on "pike 243 Santa's toy workshop" and the elves are on track 1 "Roudy elves in workshop"
Great work, I've subscribed. I've always found the body of Bucketheads work terrifying to look at to get into, I've listened to a few of the main line albums and especially Praxis. These auteurs are truly amazing, it would be interesting to think if Bucket ever did any work with Prince while he was alive, both very prolific creators.
I’ve seen Bucket live 9 times now and each time made it to the front and received a gift when he does the toy bag. I even got to play his kill switch at one show but the best show I went to, I held up a pick and he took it and placed his own pick (jazz III FYI) into my hand. I wanted to cry I was so happy. He’s been my favorite musician since 2007 when I heard about him through guitar hero II. Buckethead is the greatest guitarist to walk the planet in my opinion. Over the years I have accumulated over 300 of his albums on my iTunes library including death cube k, praxis, pieces, Thanatopsis, corn bugs, colonel claypool bucket of Bernie brains, el stew, deli creeps, zillatron, science faxtion, etc. by far the most unique musician I’ve ever heard and his talent and inspiration has shaped the music I make to this day. Thank you so much for this video, I actually learned a ton from the research you’ve done. Great job!
I am a guitarist. I really dig Buckethead's material. He is one of the most musically diverse musicians I can think of. A lot of people kind of freely and recklessly throw around the word 'genius' when they think something is good. But in reality, it's just good, but not at a genius level. But concerning Buckethead, I can say with confidence that he is a genius. I think his music will be studied and appreciated for decades to come. It will stand the test of time.
Actually #65 is a fan favorite. This was really great! Found about some albums i had never heard before, and i consider myself a pretty avid Buckethead fan. It was also really cool that you got some albums from Viggo.
Noticed Bucket a loong time ago on the Last Action Hero Soundtrack. Then picked up Monsters and Robots on a whim and was blown away. Further blown away when I was watching Primus live and Buckethead stepped on stage and played half the set with them, circa 1998ish. I've lost track since then obviously since there are 413ish albums I haven't heard and need to catch up on. This is a great doc on the artist. Kudos.
I used to have a decent chunk of his albums. Or so I thought. Maybe like 30 or 40. On a drive. Not sure what happened to them all. But I still thought that was a pretty impressive output for an artist. But never in my wildest dreams did I think he had 415 different albums connected to him. That's really nuts. What a cool cat.
Fr, what a ridiculous thing to say. People have been tapping on guitar since guitar has been a thing. Many gypsy jazz players have tapped back in the early 1900s
Dawn Of The Deli Creeps is my favorite album with Buckethead, but also one of my favorite albums, period. Great video and a monumental undertaking conquered. Color me impressed.
Honestly surprised to learn something from this. I’ve been a huge fan for over a decade now and listened to almost everything. I skipped listening to most of his collaborative stuff because there was (as you know) A LOT and hard to find. Also was more into his solo work than the people he was recording with (no offense to them). Anyways, great video. Thanks for taking the time to really listen and research Buckethead. Glad you enjoyed.
Chinese Democracy is FAR from being garbage. If you ask me, it's in the top 5 albums of the 00s. Even objectively speaking Chinese Democracy is almost always on the lists of most underrated albums. So do yourself a favor and listen to the album.
he has some of my favorite songs man what a legend!! The stuff with Les CLaypool is my favorite, but I really love his solo albums Electric Tears and The Dragons of Eden!!
This is fantastic! Quite an education, thanks. When you talked about unique musicians with 'secret identities', I thought you might mention Nash the Slash, a Canadian artist that has now passed.
I really enjoyed this video. Bucket is a lot of fun. I have this idea in my head that he gets up, plays guitar for a bit, records it, done. Then repeat the next day. He has an insane amount of albums. Great research. You didn't mention that Death Cube K is an anagram of Buckethead, but I'm sure you must know. :-)
Out of all the videos that exist on the internet, nobody has done the amount of research you have done for this video. You’re the Buckethead of UA-cam.
This video should be shown in University lectures. Bravo!! I enjoyed riding along on your journey and learnt a LOT. Hailz to the mighty giant robot himself.
Great video!! The first time I saw buckethead was when I searched for a live november rain and I saw him with those green glowing eyes and I've been a fan ever since.
I commend your hard work! You made the sacrifice so that we, the meager plebians, can watch in awe and learn the way of the Bucket (head). Godspeed, sir.
What a fantastic video. Props to you for for fighting through all of the music. Super cool how Viggo’s management got the albums to you. Any plans to help us get digital copies of ‘em?
I saw Deli Creeps at the I-Beam in San Francisco in 1990. It was kinda funny -- the club wasn't super-crowded or anything except for the left end of the stage, which was jammed with dozens of other local guitar players all pressing up front to gawk at Buckethead. Dude's hands were difficult to believe or comprehend.
What a great video. It was very insightful and entertaining. You give a good impression of being someone authentic and a good person overall, who is just enjoying and discovering new music. Somehow, it is very appropiate for a Buckethead video, as Brian is known to be very wholesome.
You missed an opportunity for a silly pun tough, somewhere where you said that 'you tried to get as much buckethead in your daily routine' , you could have said: I tried to get as much bucket in my head as I could everyday.
That was really cool. Thanks for the in-depth summary. I only have three albums - Colma, Population Override and Torn from Black Space - which have been good when I want a particular ambience. I should try some more for the variety and this is a great guide. The Praxis stuff seems up my street, and the projects with Travis Dickerson. Listening to Best Regards now. And just a note to beware that Spotify listens don't get artists much money, but I'm not saying that to guilt trip you. We've just got to pay what we can each afford to keep the musicians we love going, and you do seem to be doing that. :)
I've dived into much of Buckethead's catalog. The funny thing is that one simply can not tell how amazing most of his songs are because of the ...um....interesting song titles. For instance "Worms For The Garden" is a MASSIVELY EPIC SHREDFEST. You have to hear it to believe it. He completely brutalizes his fretboard for OVER 10 MINUTES. Mindbogling. I must admit I was late to the BH universe because I foolishly sort of judged him by his image. It's goofy af tbh but Brian Carroll is a MONSTER guitar player and musician. Period. The breadth of his musical canvas is truly special. From beautiful fingerpicked classical pieces to INSANE sweeping and fretboard histrionics like he put down on Worms. I'm so glad I finally "saw the light." And that OUTSTANDING pike he did to honor his mom's memory is just astounding. Now I can EASILY put Brian in the upper echelon of my all-time guitar gods like Randy Rhoads, Eddie, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine,Andy Timmons, Satch, Neal Schon, Becker, Friedman and most recently, Andy James. What. A. Monster.

Minor correction: Eddie Van Halen definitely popularized tapping, but he didn't invent it. Other people did it decades before him.

Tapping was done on acoustic guitar first, by Spanish guitarists.

One cool little fact about Death Cube K that i didn't hear when you brought it up is that Death Cube K is a anagram of the name Buckethead
So happy to learn that after all these years!!
Ayyyye it's Raoul Duke!
Dogs fucked the pope. No fault of mine.
@@djb3v cool dude
I've immediately noticed the same, yours is the only comment so far pointing that out :)
This is easily one of the best videos uploaded to youtube. You're a legend!
I saw the video and immediately thought: Surely in the time it takes to listen to all of his albums, Buckethead would have released a new one.
so cool. thank you for your thinking😭
Saw him back in the late 2000's, That One Guy played that night too. Watching him shred in person puts you in a legit trance. Insane show.
Nice dude. I've listened through all of his work twice, (minus a few of the rarer albums you mentioned) once to just hear it all, and the second time to decide what I wanted to keep and continue listening to. It took forever. haha
well done and impressive! Also fun to hear you talk about some of my favorite Buckethead albums.
Thank you, reccollect - the best and most info ever about Buckethead. With respect, Luc.
You did a really good job with this, thank you.
I've seen him twice, I've touched the killswitch on his guitar and my son (who I took with me) has a star wars toy (puzzle) from bucket. Bucket is awesome. Also, I got a kick that you played the cd's on your playstation, yet you have a record player. I feel old.
Which is true?
A. Machine Gun Kelly is 6’1” or 6’2” in his bare feet and he looks nothing like guitarist Brian Patrick Carroll aka Buckethead unmasked. There is no resemblance between Machine Gun Kelly and guitarist Buckethead unmasked.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Love buckethead
The fact that Chinese Democracy doesn’t sound like 80’s and early 90’s GnR doesn’t stop it from being a masterpiece. Incredible album.
Chinese democracy was excellent, especially the songs this I love and if the world.
@@andrewperez5550 yeah! Also wish Silkworms would've been released at the time as it used to be originally. Maybe as a single a month after the album or something. They thought it sounded too futuristic in comparison to the album material, but then I listen to Shackler's Revenge, which sounds really futuristic and heavy as well and it makes me wonder.
I think people’s expectations were super high, because of how long it took to come out.
Since watching this video at release I have become a Buckethead fanboy and even got inspired to start playing again, thank you recollect and Buckethead for your work 💕
Buckethead is a genius with a guitar, amazing player, love buckethead his music is awesome.

Nice video man, thank you for making it. I've listened to most of his albums but I've definitely missed quite a few along the way
Dude is just nonstop channeling, making as much music as he can. What an incredible gift, not to mention the talent.
This was so comprehensive and well made. Sent it to a bunch of my friends. Viggo seems like a cool dude lol
Thanks youtube Recommended, I remember finding out about him pretty young and instantly he was just my favorite guitarist of all time
Amazing and comprehensive. The fact that you grinded thru his massive catalog is so awesome. I'm doing a challenge of wanting to release more music than buckethead. He got a head start cause I was born 92. But I'm catching up quick!!!
I appreciate the effort that went into this . Thank you m8
@19:48, Pike 219 Raindrops on Christmas was released on Christmas and It was initially free for a short time. The album with the elves on it was on "pike 243 Santa's toy workshop" and the elves are on track 1 "Roudy elves in workshop"
I'm so happy to watch this video!
Damn bro! Thanks so much for doing this. Great video
thank you for this video. I listened to a few of his albums a decade ago and simply didn't know how to respond to his bombardment of new albums.
You are just awesome man! Thank you for doing this for me, us, and humanity forthcoming.
My man….thanks for putting in the work. Appreciate it immensely.
Great job mate, prolly released 5 more while you made this
Man! What an effort! This is a documentary huge amount of research! Thank you!
3:35 Eddie Van Halen didn't invent tapping. Popularized it? Absolutely.
steve hackett from Genesis
@@davee.dangerously9409 nah, there’s video of a guy tapping from the 1930’s!
@@ScottHz no kidding , i'll have to look it up
Fr, what a ridiculous thing to say.
Man you are a legend, a true historian, excellent video, anyone who want to get into his music, this video is a must watch.
Chinese Democracy is FAR from being garbage. If you ask me, it's in the top 5 albums of the 00s.
Even objectively speaking Chinese Democracy is almost always on the lists of most underrated albums.
So do yourself a favor and listen to the album.
Great video bro!
he has some of my favorite songs man what a legend!! The stuff with Les CLaypool is my favorite, but I really love his solo albums Electric Tears and The Dragons of Eden!!
Wow. This was a TON of work. Well done. Was nice to learn about Bucket!
Brodie I am beyond impressed. You are a true slunk. I shall embark on this journey. Amazing video!
This is a great presentation! I love Buckethead, but definitely haven't dug this deep. Thank you for sharing very insightful! Big up Buckethead
This is fantastic! Quite an education, thanks.
When you talked about unique musicians with 'secret identities', I thought you might mention Nash the Slash, a Canadian artist that has now passed.
I love your deep dives, you go all out and I appreciate that. quality and unbiased research. Keep at it man!
Well time spent, thanks for putting it together....
Out of all the videos that exist on the internet, nobody has done the amount of research you have done for this video. You’re the Buckethead of UA-cam.
Insane work man, thank you for that! I thought I knew Buckethead a lot, you prove me wrong. Great job! He is so talented!
So awesome! Thank you for doing this! 🙌🙌🙌
THIS is what the internet was created for... THIS video.
Excellent job mate, well done. Absolute dedication and a good video.
What a fantastic video. Props to you for for fighting through all of the music. Super cool how Viggo’s management got the albums to you. Any plans to help us get digital copies of ‘em?
great vid bro
3:37 Eddie did not invent tapping, Harvey Mandel was doing this before. Eddie Van Halen took tapping to the masses.
It was being done before Mandel.
steve hackett - Genesis
Stanley Jordan
I saw Deli Creeps at the I-Beam in San Francisco in 1990. It was kinda funny -- the club wasn't super-crowded or anything except for the left end of the stage, which was jammed with dozens of other local guitar players all pressing up front to gawk at Buckethead. Dude's hands were difficult to believe or comprehend.
Man, Chinese Democracy is so underrated. It's a great album and Bucket's guitar parts are excellent.
omg bro you are literally the best
Wow, I had no idea... 415? He is just on the periphery of my interest, but I gotta check this out.
the upper estimate, including the "featuring rather than as a core musician" stuff, is >470. dude really just lives and breathes music i think
Decoding the tomb of the bansheebot is one of my favourites!
This video is amazing, man. Great work.
What. A. Monster.
The deli creeps and cornbugs are 2 really interesting Buckethead projects.
Dude, thank you for this!! Wow... here I thought Buckethead was dusted some decade ago, turns out I was the one who was gone...
