Am surprised no police harassed you and your crew doing that engine swap. Try that in Massachusetts and you would have been laced up for sure. I lived in the northeast for over 20 years and now am back in Upper Michigan where I was born.
Here at AutoZone, we don't give a damn. Fix your shit, that's why we are here. Just don't park your shit box on my lot for more than a day or two without asking.
I just hope he doesn’t get in trouble. I work out the one in my town and we’re not allowed to do that. We get in trouble for changing our oil in the parking lot.
That’s the best truck ever made I have a 1974 W-100 with a 440 in it I love my power wagon that looks just like the W200 that was at Fort Leonardwood Missouri in 1979. I was just gettin ready to say the same thing. I had a 69 chevy ex air force truck, same shade of blue and had all sorts of extra safety/warnin decals on it etc. If that truck turns out to have ever been in VA., i think i saw it for sale about 8.5 years ago, looked about the same extra cripsy shape, think they wanted 5500 for it back then but it ran at that time.
Great video! I remember seeing a couple of these crew cab Power Wagons of about the same year for sale on the York, Nebraska exit back about 20 years ago at a used car lot. Would've loved to latch onto them. Old trucks are so much more durable and fun to work on, versus today's over-priced luxury yahts at $60k-$80k each.
I have been passing really close to these fellas for years. Went through and into Des Moines, Iowa plenty of times driving commercial trucks for 18 years. 😊
Decent video, your channel has potential. Biggest improvement would be to film the important parts, ya know like fixing the brakes and installing the engine!
In past videos we've filmed a lot of in depth stuff and havent gotten a lot of views on them, we believe going quick and just showing timelapse is best. But if we get more views we'll try going back to showing everything for sure.
I had to hit that subscribe just based on the name of the channel alone. That's pretty much what I've always done. I can limp anything, anywhere. I used to drive Cat 793 Haul trucks in a mine, and my truck was always on the list of the most reliable trucks. Not because it was inherently less problematic, but I just refused to down it for any reason. In 17,000 hours, I only pulled that truck over three times, and I only had to call for a berm behind me once. I was always able to roll it somewhere safe. I want to took a fully loaded Haul truck up here with a turbo out. In theory, there's not enough horsepower to do that, but I just zigzagged back and forth until I got it to the dump. Tonight, I'm driving a fully depreciated 2008 Prius with 333.323 miles on it. I've got some ominous creaking coming from the steering. The prayers that I've had the longest time has 506000 Mi on the original motor
You said it's a 68, but it has a 71 hood, grill and dash. I owned a 66 crew cab, a 68 crew cab and a 68 regular cab short box, one of my brothers owned a 67 and another brother and a brother in law each owned a 71. Either the papers are wonky, or someone put a bunch of 71 parts on it. Great old truck! Good luck.
What I suggest doing with that truck is keep it as original as you can like it is but make it safe with secure body mounts and bed mounts etc..leave the look it has..also tighten up the steering...lol
You people are my kind of people fixing and chaging engine in parking lot and park i just drank some beer and laughed my ass off god bless keep more of these videos coming
In past videos we have shown a lot when installing and such. We thought people got board because we didn't get views like this video so I'm a little stuck on what to do haha. Engine was super easy to put in and hook up, brakes was just getting a different master and cleaning out a tube that was clogged.
@@DailyDrivenDeathTrapsI think if you spend a couple minutes if time lapse would be better. I looked for the engine install but it was out then I so yeah. But because of this truck, got a subsriber

@DailyDrivenDeathTraps hahaha dammm ok that makes sense then. It's an old truck anyway so at least its either pretty rusty already or still good an won't matter because it's old thick metal not like newer trucks

Love it guys!! I drove a 79 Crewcab Chevy from South Dakota to Texas a month ago. I was hoping the wore out 350 would die so I could do an engine swap in a parts store parking lot!! This stuff is awesome! Gained a sub here!
My first vehicle was a 1971 dodge reg cab, long bed, 2wd, with the 383. Which was the last year you could get the 383, not a stroker motor either. The only way you could get the 383 was custom order untill the motors were gone. 1970 was the last year dealers had them on the lot as standard option.

Best way to get that trans in...Remove bell housing attach trans. Move bell and trans to engine, roll truck in 4th gear until bell and engine met. Use lower large 5/8 bolts to help if needed. Also, this old guy Says ALWAYS fix the brakes.
I had to replace my clutch Way out in the sticks, a friend had an old 4 wheel drive International wrecker which we four wheeled to where my truck was left, at the base of a valley/huge hill.
