basically we always go back to retro things. really proud to be an 80's kid...
This is actually much better for playing 2d games though. I usually hate shelling out for nostalgia products like this but its really good.
Only complaint is the dpad is pretty loose, but it's still arguably better than what Nintendo sells.
I've been using the SN30 Pro on my switch for platforms and any game where the D-Pad I better for movement and I love it. I love the size too compared to the switch pro controller since I can just throw it in my bag and take it with me without it taking up so much space.
YES! My favorite controller ever :D
Use it all the time for PC games. Only downside is that triggers aren't analog so it isn't that good for racing games.
This is an outstanding controller. I use it for android tablet retro gaming with emulation.
Lucky android users and emulation, iPhones are a waste if you want to use a mobile emulator
I have both last years SN30 Pro / SF30 Pro and this years models just because of the color schemes. I love them all and using them for my Switch, then using them for my emulators on my computer is easy as hell.
this has been on my list for weeks. would like to pair it with my retropie.
Lags on my Retropie. Look it up on Google, input lags SF30 Pro Retropie.
Great review! Though, one thing that should be noted is that the SF30 Pro is an older model that is no longer in production. The SN30 Pro that you link is the newer version that fixes a number of issues with the old SF30 Pro and SN30 Pro. The newer models ("Sn" and "G Classic") fixed issues such as the connection issues mentioned in this video, reduced the overall latency, replaced the old analog stick caps with more wear-resistant ones, and fixed an issue with the D-Pad that caused the diagonals to be too sensitive. Maybe you should mention in the description that the SN30 Pro is the updated model.
The SF30 Pro and the SN30 Pro are just recolors of the same controller-one being the Super Famicon colors and the other being the SNES colors. They are literally the same controller otherwise, and were released at the same time a year or so ago.
@@imeggman You aren't entirely wrong, but you're misinterpreting my comment. I noted that the "Sn" and "G Classic" models of the SN30 Pro are the new ones, and it's the one linked in the description. The old SN30 Pro which looked more accurate to an original SNES controller was made in the same line as the original SF30 Pro, but just as with the SF30 Pro it's no longer produced and has the same lag/dpad/stick issues.
Run a firmware update
@@zacharypappalardo3789 A firmware update won't make the latency on the old model as fast as the new model. A firmware update won't fix the D-Pad. A firmware update won't fix the joystick rubber that wears off from normal use.
@@AnvilSP I just figured that it would at least help a bit since you own the controller
So I bought 2 8bitdo n30 pros to use for my Switch. And while I like the controllers, less than a year after purchasing them 8bitdo discontinued them and stopped supporting their software. Also with the newer updates on the Switch they are no longer usable. So just go in knowing that if you are purchasing these for the Switch, that they will more than likely have a short shelf life, and you are giving your money to a company that doesn't support their products long term.
Original Console Gamer wotks perfectly on steam as “switch pro controller” & gyroscope support
@@antoniusvandenbrink5980 It works fine for steam and with emulators. However, I rarely use either. The only reason that I purchased them was because they were marketed as being compatible with the Switch. And that compatibility only lasted between 6-12 months. Just poor business practice IMO.
Wait is this the reason mine stopped working for my Switch?!? Was literally the only reason I bought it!
I have owned this controller for a few months now. Works awesome with dolphin emulator.
How does it work with dolphin because the SN 30 pro doesn't have analog triggers
@@pbs231 yes it does. Has 4 2 on each side
Oh I didn't know that
@@pbs231 It has L1/L2 and R1/R2 if that's what you mean. However, these are all "buttons" with 0-1 input. When my SN30 pro is in xinput mode, it just goes from 0 to 50 on L2/R2.
So, it's less than ideal for super mario sunshine but most Gamecube games and all Wii games work fine without.
I have two of these, I use them as my primary controllers for everything aside from Smash. Cannot give enough credit to 8bitdo for their controllers/accessories and there is a Genesis six button one coming out soon too!
I use it for smash since I started smash on the 2ds this is the closest
I got mine at goodwill for like $4. It's a good, compact Bluetooth controller compared to my Xbox Bluetooth controller, took me a while to get it to work with my iPhone though.
i have the SF30 PRO. love it.
I've never had a problem with the ergonomics, and I can assure you that my hands are bigger than yours. It's such a fantastic controller.
I love the usb cables cuz i can plug it into my lapop and played so many emulaters and used it with a snes nes n64 and gamecube adapter and MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM my dream controller since i love mix matching third party and first partys like using gamecube for n64 and n64 d pad for nes i love the three trigers for long jumps in mario 64 and the clicky d pad of the n64 and i have tiny hands so a good choice no more wii mote for nes just the d pad is nice on wii for nes (im a mixmatch gamer)
I like how those small lights blink when it's trying to connect to a device.
Those lights work exactly like the lights on the Joycons and the Pro controller. It's a nice touch
If you get cramps get the 8-bitdo SF30 pro+
works great on retro pie as well and pairs v nicely with the retro-flag SNES case
For compact size, I prefer the N30/FC30 Pro. The analog sticks might be small, but someone who is used to vita sticks, they're not so bad.
They are currently working on a version with grips.
Fantastic controller, I love it. Works perfectly on my macbook air
Way ahead of you, started Speedrunning smb1 on this thing a few months ago
Wish I could still buy this colour scheme
I own one, this gamepad is pretty good.
Where did you get the controller case?! I need that!!
search 8bitdo controller case on Amazon
I wish 8bitdo would hurry and come out with SN30 Pro Plus controller with the handles
@@space941 I'm not tech savvy to do that
I also got this controller last sunday and has been my goto controller as well. I will have to admit the only downfall of the controller is its small problem with Splatoon 2. Cant play in wired mode or your inputs will be delayed. and in wireless mode the controller will get an error about not being able to read amiibo. But for every other title and game I have had 0 problems and I still recommend this to everyone
If you need comfort for big hands the sn30 pro plus is there way to go. You the grips and the triggers are bigger too......
I wish they would have released the version with the handles that one looked even cooler
They did just that lol
@@begula6763 the thing is that they announced it then it disappeared as if it was never going to be a thing then it happened and the world is a better place. If you have a ps4/5 you can get their adapter and use that controller instead witch if you're willing to sync it and unsync it might be better idk I've never used a ps4/5 controller. I can say the SN30pro+ feels like a first party controller and that's awesome.
you forgot to showcase the Retro Receiver for SNES from 8Bitdo. it allows you to use the controller on an original SNES console or SNES clone console.
Had this controller , great quality, great input performance, great button response and very important for me: great analog sticks and d pad.
Why i don't have it anymore? I returned it because it has so many connection possibilities except those i actually bought the sf30 pro for.
No way possible to directly connect the controller over Bluetooth to my cronus max (but nice wired connectivity).. and without cronus max i can't connect it to my playstations and sadly no pstv/ps vita support.
Found no helpful topics on the internet so i had to get a sf30 pro and try it on numerous devices for myself.
greetings from germany
Is a cronus max like a cronus zen?
my favourite bluetooth controller for android/pc. better than my Gamesir g4s
PLEASE need help with the "blue light" bug. When I'm playing, sometimes it just happen the "A" button turn on a blue light when pressing... I want to avoid that!!! How can I avoid that this turbo mod&/blue light or whatever is called don't turn on at all? I may touch buttons by mistake that activates that, so I would like to know how is connected and disconnected to avoid it. THANKS
Your gonna need to tell me about that lamp in the back ground my friend...
I have a question...why do you have the peak design anchor on your phone? Just for show?
I got smaller hands. cant wait to use this it comes in today lol.
I mainly use it for portable gaming setup
The keyboard at the beginning of the video caught my eye lol. Which one is it?
Does it connect to iPad pro 12.9 2020. I think running iPad OS 13.4
Man i miss you so much after the intro of Android Authority 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I wonder why you never mentioned the SF30 Pro+, which DOES have grips like modern controllers
Does it work with Android mobile pubG game ?
how to connected with Tvbox?
Have that very controller in my bag right now. I use it with my switch when on the go. I went with purple (usa) color scheme.
I found going between pro and 8bitdo upped my game performance a bit, which is an added bonus.
Can you do a video on types of tea you do drink? Preferably something easy to make. Just wondering. Love your content
Im sure tea was covered briefly in one video and there was at least 3 minutes of brewing involved
My question is can i use this game controller as a mouse on my mac? Thanks
will this be okay with the NBA 2k games for PC?
I got mine on amazon a while back brand new and it wouldn’t even turn on even after leaving it on the charger but amazon couldn’t even help me
It's 8bitdoh, like Nintendo.
The official 8bitdo speakers have a startup that says 8bitdoo, so idk man
@@GoudLoodje it's been three years, let it go
how much does it weight?
This controller feels great on splatoon 2.
I'm really stressed that 8bitdo hasnt released the plus model.
You linked it to Android but what about iOS does it work with it, no jail broken phone please
What game where you playing on your phone?? 😮
Man, I miss your reviews.
What do you mean? I just did a review last week and another one (for Pocketnow) before that
What was the android game you were playing?
"Real yakuza use gamepad"
Which Android game is it in the end?
Only regret was not getting 2
What game is on the phone at 4:30 ?
Yeah whays that game?
And is there defo no lag on phone?
Is that emulator?
Space Marshals 2
I have it 😀
And it's 8 bit dough not Doo. 8bitdo
Nope
It's not Nintendoo... 8bitdo co. is using the "do" out of Nintendo. So Russell is correct.
@@Rappenheim It rhymes with "Nintendo"
@@ClarkCox listen to their Bluetooth speaker bootup
Nobody Likes a Grammar Nazi...
& Dough sounds much more stupid compeared(didn't correct on purpose) to doo ; Doo Is the right way to say it if there even is a "right" way to say it. & It plays on the Nin-Ten-Dooooo Part & fit's better than the worse sound/ unrelated dough.(Grammared it up a bit for you ;P)
interesting.
I need it
I bought it
Meh... this controller WOULD be great if it wasn't for the horrid D-Pad issues. The D-Pad constantly registers up down left and right presses as diagonals. It's a well documented issue and requires an internal fix to correct. Damn shame really, as the controller is really nice otherwise.
You again.....
@@NCXitlali Huh? I gave my honest opinion along with some hard facts. What's the problem?
@@skins4thewin no, I mean your profile pic 🤦
@@NCXitlali Ah lol I see, you don't like mah Deadskins eh? Well neither do I at the moment. Team has squandered any opportunity it has had to get better at every turn, letting all of their actual good draft picks walk in free agency and such.
It's a joke of a franchise, but they are my team so I still love em & always will. Would just be nice if our owner could stay TF out of team affairs for once & stop screwing things up.
Does this work on iOS devices?
No. It doesn't work with iOS devices
I wish l owned one😢
I've tried multiple versions of 8bitdo SNES pads, and have found the dpad to be pretty awful on them all. Fine for RPGs or other games that don't require a great response, but not too good when you're trying to pull off combos, or need to change direction rapidly.
This came out in 2016 bro. Get wit it
That's also the European colors.
After a year of use, it's clear these 8bitdo controllers just don't have much longevity. All 3 of mine have multiple problems.
The D-pad sucks on the Controller & I got cause i was told it was the best D-pad available for the switch & it was just as bad as the Normal D-pad
What do you mean by "normal" dpad? The pro controller? Because there's no ball in the center of those, it makes playing older games insanely hard as the whole dpad goes in.
I'm happy with my controller but the dpad is loose right out of the box. Used a wii classic pro controller for almost a decade and its dpad is still in better shape.
@@hongmeiling6065 Yes ; Normal = Analogy for Pro Controller & they (Pro & SF30 + many more) suck indeed, since it can input 3 different input when only pressing 1 button.
I currently have no controller to play Super Mario Maker 2 with since I lack a Switch controller with a functional D-pad......
@@MegurokoSylveon That's strange. Sometimes if I have to rock the dpad from top to bottom I get some diagonal inputs but that's as bad as it ever got for me. (Aside from the dpad 'sliding' in it's socket, which I absolutely loathe because its uncomfortable as hell.)
Do you use windows? If so, if you put the controller in xinput mode you can check it's input I think. I also know people with this issue have gone out to look for their own changes:
www.reddit.com/r/8bitdo/comments/a1w1b9/paper_donuts_and_blue_tack_dpad_dpad_fix/
Before doing this I'd consider the warranty and whether or not you should try to get a refund instead. I didn't own a Wii U but the last good nintendo controller I ever used was the Wii classic controller. Really bites that Nintendo isn't providing good 2D pads when much of their service relies on nostalgia.
It's DOH not DOO.
this is the old model...
No you don't.
Mine went to hell pretty quickly.
That's because you threw it up against a wall, and stomped on it when playing Mario. Why did you do that? 😧
You need air, water, food, rest and eventually social interaction, everything else is bonus. You don't "need" a gamepad.
shut up boomer
Waiting for the Pro+... seems like delay after delay. They say Spring 2019. Also who TF cares how people pronounce things. Let me know when pronunciation has any bearing on how well the d-pad functions.
Tbis is a stupid controller. The snes pad is a 2D pad. If u want analouge sticks get a pa4 controller and have the bonus of rumble
Bishop Williams The SN30 has rumble too. This controller is good because it’s versatile, and very small and portable. In fact, it’s really just a PS4 controller with a better d pad, no grips, and without a touch pad
My question is can i use this game controller as a mouse on my mac? Thanks
No.
