    As a Kenny slides fan also building a firebird for drifting I’m glad someone also took the leap and is using the f body’s platform for drifting

    Building a road car out of a '96 z28 convert, 383 (525 FW/HP) , working on suspension now, thanks for the video, learning quite bit...

    You have Strano lowering springs, on the rears. Strano front spring rate is 550 in/lbs, rear spring rates are 150 in/lbs. The Bilsteins are ok, but those strings are usually paired with Koni Sports.

    Look into umis road race and auto x coilovers they have a 600lb 200lb set and a 850 275lb set

      Seems like a good bolt-in option to get more reasonable springrates. However we like that how you can adjust ride height and spring preload separately with the BCs along with them having more springrate options

    Wow. First of all you deserve more views, great vid. Second, when you talk about the car being a bit sketchy on the highway, is it a big difference from stock? Like, is it still drivable on the street? I am planning on keeping my car as a daily and still be able to use it at track events.

    • @shortgirllongcar
      @shortgirllongcar  16 днів тому

      Thank you! It is a pretty big difference from stock, I would say it's doable but takes more mental energy to drive with how quick the steering is. If you are worried about this you could consider doing the "medium" angle setting. This will make the car drive much more like stock while still having enough steering angle to have fun with.

    How about a production version of the coilover adapter?

    • @shortgirllongcar
      @shortgirllongcar  Місяць тому

      We are considering making a production version at some point but are still gauging interest on it. If you are personally interested in a pre-production version like what I have on my car feel free to send me a message

      @@shortgirllongcar oh I’m definitely interested, I just don’t think I could afford it right now.
      From what I’ve seen Viking is about the only company offering bolt in replacement coil overs for 4th gen.

    The mechanical engineering detail is great. Are there videos of the fabrication? What software is being used to illustrate the suspension, and the CAD work?

    • @shortgirllongcar
      @shortgirllongcar  Місяць тому

      Ashlen used Solid Edge to both design the parts and illustrate them in this video. Unfortunately we did not record much of his fabrication process for these parts but he's already working on his next big suspension project and we are going to do a better job documenting the process next time!

    What kind of power steering pump did you use?

    • @shortgirllongcar
      @shortgirllongcar  7 днів тому

      It is an electric power steering pump out of a Volvo. If you want to learn more the other video on this channel covers it in a lot more detail

    Did you have to upgrade your alternator to power everything correctly?

    • @shortgirllongcar

      No my car still has the stock alternator and haven't had any issues with that setup

    I rarely see any 4th Camaro here in the North East. Today I learned drifting is flipping expensive.
