Journey - Don't Stop Believing (Bass cover with tabs)

- Опубліковано 12 лис 2019
- Originally released as a single from their seventh studio album "Escape" in 1981 this song is built around one of pop music's most common chord progression.
The I-V-VI-IV-Progression (in E major E-B-C#m-A) can be heard in thousands of pop- and rock songs (e.g. "Beast Of Burden" - Rolling Stones, "No Woman No Cry" - Bob Marley, "So Lonely" - The Police). In "Don't Stop Believing" the I-V-VI-V is combined with the variation I-V-III-IV to form a repetitive 8-bar progression. Unlike other songs the real chorus of this song is not heard until 3:21 min. The great piano pattern serves as a "hook" throughout the song and makes it catchy although.

Such a simple riff but a classic. Did this in my school concert and had a blast
I put down the bass for a long time but I'm gonna get back to learning after this nice finger work and awesome music/ tab layout. Thanks. God bless.
May you live 1000 years.
This has been the anthem of me and my best friend for 13 years in May , I love you brother, I hope you read this and know that!!
Thank you!
Tom Bornemann you are a great musician
Fantastic work. Very clear, accurate, and easy to pick up.

AMAZING!!!
Killer!!! Thanks!
The open strings are cool. I live the fills. Not a journey fan, but I want to learn this. Thanks.
Excellent
Well done
Very cool! Thanks for posting. Just a quick suggestion, if you put the notation at the top of the screen it it much easier to see when the video is paused.

Man
I feel like a pro bass guitarist, even though i just started yesterday. Im not finished the whole video yet im doing some good runs on some of the bars. Maybe it was the fact that I used to be an acoustic guitarist that im good on bass. Hmm...
I hope you have fun on your JOURNEY

Nice lesson Tom :-)
Amigo... Me acabas de ahorrar un ensayo de 3 horas . Gracias
Listening to this bc I play Bari sax and wanting to focus on the baseline when we play this song for band
Way Cool - Thanx For The Description As Well - Makes Sense - Have You Already Posted The 'So Lonely' Police ?? If Not, Please Do
Cheers
Thanks for the great video Tom! If it is possible to put the tab at the top of the screen that would be very helpful as it is very hard to see the tabs when you pause the video to study what notes are supposed to be played.
I come here after watching the AGT
Hi, may I use this in a cover for one of my vids please? I can give you credit:)
What pedal effect are you ussing? is it a flanger?
It's a chorus.
I always wondered if the beginning was the piano AND bass or just the piano... I also wondered about the unique bass tone... if it had effects and what bass was it...
On an isolated track I used to transcribe the bassline you can clearly hear that the bass is playing along with the piano right from the start. There's a lot of chorus effect on the bass to create that unique sound.
Hi Great cover but minute 1.27-1.30 is very hard.got the whole song besides that part. Best regards from cdmx

I've seen a different bass tab online than you're playing and showing here for this song. I wonder which one is correct
Since I transcribed from an isolated bass track of the original recording I'm pretty sure that my version is correct.
@@basscination Ok
what's your amp settings?
No amp. I recorded directly into the DAW.
There´s a chorus or a flanger? And a bit of distortion?
Fretless I’d suggest.
my dad plays the bass and i’m trying to learn but my hands are small like Robins hands from teen titans
seano cheifo really?? dang i guess i’ll just have to try harder
seano cheifo thanks dude, i appreciate it!!
Hi, Yaritza... maybe if you try a short scale bass (as Fender Mustang, Hofner, or similar) you would feel more confortable...
nice beginners bass bruv
just a little bit out of tune but you're awesome man!!!
no jazz bridge pickup + no 80s reverb pedal = 2/10 tone
useful vid tho
