Hello, I love ur trip reports. Do u mind to share with the audience what camera or gadgets do you use to take videos?
Air Asia was by far the worst airline I have ever flown on taking off in a violent thunderstorm from KL to Melbourne, the aircraft was rocked too and fro an Irish girl seated next to me had a panic attack the air stewardess was visibly shaken the pilots voice was trembling you could hear hailstones pelting the fuselage for about 2 minutes, no drinks and food was served due to the turbulence, I've flown many times never seen anything like that, my dad was airforce in Australia it's not allowed to take off in a violent thunderstorm above an airport.
I tried Magic and it didn't seem to understand my requests. Not only that, but it had minimal information about the city I wanted to stay in (Yokohama), couldn't understand the area where I wanted my hotel to be (kept recommending hotels in other areas of the city... or even in another city entirely) and suggesting places to visit that were only reachable by rental car (despite me saying I cannot drive).
Not good. Might work for people with bottomless budgets who are happy to drive a rental car and consider Tokyo as 'Japan'.
Sorry!
@@blake9358they should NOT have taken off during such a storm. However, many airlines will fly so they make money.
Can you tell us, what microphone or software you use? I like this kind of voice that sounds coming form a pilot captain, if you know what I mean.
The Qantas 747 that overran the runway at Bangkok became known by staff as the “golf buggy” because of the golf course where the aircraft ended up!
Did the 747 make a HOLE in one?😁
The number 13 is an unlucky number in a lot of cultures, so some airlines don't include the row 13 on their planes.
triskaidekaphobia.
If you ever go on a cruise ship they never have deck 13 either, thought I was going nuts until I figured that out 😂
looks like they still got unlucky
Some hotels too don't have room 13.
😁, human mind sometimes blow me away, ha ha, so with other numbers you got away from accident, disaster,...by the way humans invented numbers, not nature. Yeah sometimes I don't understand those people, what are going in their mind.
If the executives are guilty of money laundering, they deserve the harshest sentencing. All of the employees trying to keep the airline afloat while the executives were probably living a life of luxury. I feel sorry for those that have lost due to other people's greed 😢 Good post, thank you.
I feel so bad for all of the employees. In one day everyone lost their job. Do they have any recourse in trying to recoup some of the money they were owed to begin with?
Typical Malaysian management mindset.
How else the scandal 1mdb exists?
Malaysia is a corrupted nation from top to bottom since decades ago
@@lindabarrett5631 Probably not, they might get a portion of their wage. As in most cases of this type the creditors and businesses tend to get first claim on the assets and recovered money. 😢 Like you, I feel very sorry for the employees as some of them will lose homes, cars and possessions.
@@horseathalt7308Not in Thailand.
@@thepagan5432 How different it is here in Europe (Germany in my case) where employee´s salaries always get first claim including pension scheme etc. before any other claims.
The golf course at Don Mueang Airport is owned by the Royal Thai Air Force. It can be a little tricky to get there (taxis are not allowed inside the compound), and photography is not allowed. But it is a very unique experience playing there!
MyAirline was a slight upgrade from AirAsia & with some of their deals a lower price tag. KL to Penang round trip for 45rm (around $9-10 USD) was a great find for us
Cant believe an airline got so scared of josh cahill that they shut down
hahahaha😂😂😂
All hail King Josh ✈️
🤣🤣🤣
He's so nice though!
I feel so bad for the hard working staff. They believed so much in the airline but sadly the top brass management destroyed their hopes.
As a Malaysian its pretty sad that they went bust, we had hope that they’d challenge Airasia’s monopoly in the low cost market. We’re tired of Airasia milking our wallets in the name of “low cost”
So sad and shocking. Staff welfare and refund is important
Friend is a ticketing manager and said better go with regular airlines as in the end it's not much difference in cost.
How do airasia milk you?
That's really awesome, thanks for sharing another amazing adventure!
Great that you managed to review them! We all started getting suspicious when they started cutting even obviously full routes. Then the founder got arrested. Actually he had already been investigated for various money laundering activities several years ago so it was a surprise he even got to start the airline in the first place
Great video Josh!!!! 2 thumbs up my friend!!!!
Hi! Josh Cahill. Thank You for sharing this wonderful video.
Wow it's incredible how the owner got interviewed in Airliner World and now he's in jail
So many dodgy airline owners in Asia. Vijay Malia and Tony Fernandes come to mind. Fernandes wasn't dodgy as such like Vijay was, he was just unlucky in his other ventures. Fernandes ran an F1 team for a couple years, but got in legal trouble for naming rights. Malia also ran an F1 team, and also got in legal trouble, albeit bigger trouble.
Awesome vid!!! Keep up the great work man!👍
FYI Josh, Malaysia's biggest aviation failure is an airline call Rayani Air which only lasted 5 months.
Our so called halal airline hahaha
Nice vid Josh! I was at Don Muang in 2000 and we were stunned too when we saw the golf course. It was quite busy there at the time, amidst all the flying. Don Muang was very active back then, with lots of both civilian and military aircraft seen 'in action'. And Thailand is a wonderful country.
Awesome video as always.
In the early 00's, I flew a low cost airline on Peru named Aero Continente. The fares were cheap, the service was great, and they were the last operators of 727's on domestic flights.
Aero Continente also abruptly ceased operatings when their owner was arrested for money laundering and drup trafficking.
Another amazing video Josh
I hope that it will be nice vid as always. Already from start I really appreciate the Czech football t-shirt, lovely.
Josh Cahill is by far the nicest aviation efgeek EVER I have watched him for as long as I can remember he is a efgeek LEGEND 🙏
Very surprised that it's row 13 that's missing. Usually in Malaysia, if a row or a floor is missing, it's 4 (and often 14, 24, etc). My apartment when I am in Malaysia is on floor 3A, which is between floors 3 and 5.
This is because people will think number with "4" is misfortune, therefore replaced with 3A, 13A, 24A instead, but this is "13" missing, which I wonder why too. haha
Add on, the pronounciation of "4" is sounds like "die", therefore the whole world's most of the chinese less using digit 4.
i lke the video very much Josh Keep it up
The owner and family has been arrested due to alleged money laundering activities
Money laundering? The family too so Myairline is a money laundering business thats bad
Also why would he finance terrorism?
@@WarrenrainThung Press X for doubt.
@@WarrenrainThung Just Money laundering, "Anti-money laundering, Anti Terrorism financing and Proceeds of Unlawful activities" is the whole act itself, (AMLA2001)
Ofcourse this is still not good tho
@@WarrenrainThung Because he's rich and Muslim.
Josh - Your videos are 'top notch'! and so professionally designed. Bravo to you BIG TIME! I recently returned from Papeete Tahiti and flew Air Tahiti Nui. Perhaps you should consider trying it out sometime and add it to your repertoire of air travel ... quite a beautiful experience. Best to you and keep those videos coming. It's great entertainment! - Paul from Boston Massachusetts
2:48 love the emergency slide on the tree 😂😂
The Golf course is a Military Golf Club and they only welcome special Guest with a certain handicap due to the special Environment around the Course.
There is no row 13 and 17 on German and European Aircraft’s .
17 is in Asia’s Region . 13 for unluck in Europe 🎉
I really hope they'll be painting the sky red again. It's high time, AirAsia needs to be kept in check. By the way, you are staying at the world's 2nd biggest shopping mall🎉😊
It was never a good idea for a second LCC in Malaysia. Airasia has 200 planes and MYairline has 4-9. It wanted to be an Ultra LCC, cheaper than Airasia. Airasia is looking for a USD400 million loan now; its restructuring plan has also been rejected by the authority 2-3 times. What chance did MYairline even have? 2 main factors that did it in: ever appreciating USD and the resulting interest rate.
I just wanna thank you Josh for all the effort you put into this video just for us keep up the good work my friend! :) also I don't think Asia would need a new budget airline because they already have plenty of options not the mention some pretty cheap one.
It’s always a pleasure to see the handsome Josh doing these videos 😍😍😍😍
I honestly think a Jetblue-like airline model or a ultra-low cost carrier model might be the only two ways forward for a new airline in this part of the world.
I like the old Don Muang airport. I actually liked it more than the new airport. Used to fly there from LHR. It was old but had a certain charm about it.
Cool, you have the Czech soccer jersey! :)
Love the Qantas Factoid!
Please do Kenya airways flight from Guangzhou China to Nairobi or air Tanzania flight from Mumbai to dar salaam 737max9
Awesome video.
I sat in row 13 on two legs of my flight to Stockholm this week on Delta Airlines, but living in China, my apartment building did not have a 4th or 14th floor.
Sad to hear about the collapse of MYAirline :(
Thought they were doing well before they suddenly close :/
If i remember rightly you have to cross the taxi way between the 2 runways when playing golf there to reach the other side of the golf course.
Flown many times into Don Mueang with Eva Air and Thai before the new airport Suvarnabhumi opened.
No Row 13! In 1988 I flew Air Afrique New York Dakar and that is my absolute first memory of an aircraft without a Row 13!
2;00...I do like the name Myairline, it is such a cool name. I also like the name you mentioned "ur' airline but not written yourairline but as "urairline" which also sounds cool to me 😎.
My son has end stage organ faiular. He loves watching you programs while he is in hospital. He allways asks when are you and Mr Philip s going to put out your next videos.Thank u both so much as he says he's going to fly in the sky with you.
Non-reclining seats on a short-haul flight? Good.
Interesting video.
I saw the golf. Course many years ago when international flights used to use that airport
Any idea what the emergency the departing Air Asia flight was about? I flew with Air Asia from Bangkok to Luang Prabang on Wednesday of this week, and the flight was delayed by an hour due to them having to find a "replacement aircraft". Our aircraft came in from Hat Yai, so I'm wondering if it was the flight to Hat Yai that had the issue. It does, of course, depend on when this was filmed!
That a319 model that you bought stole my attention 😄.Which livery is it Josh?
I think the golf course is owned by the Royal Thai Air Force.
Fantastic Josh Cahill thanks a million sir, you are doing a great job, please come to Nigeria once again,we love you so much sir.
that golf course was already there when i landed in BKK in 1984
Damn, it’s sad what has happened to this airline. I love its livery and its cabin. I live in Malaysia and I used to often see their planes.
thats crazy, i flew this airline in july twice...
Idk why some airlines remove row 13 because of it symbolizing bad luck and some don‘t. Personally, I don‘t count if I sit in row 13 or 12 because if something happens, sitting in row 12 instead wont make it better. Eurowings also has no row 13. Just some weird beliefs ig
It’s the same way that most buildings here in North America I don’t have floor 13
Just to avoid inconvenience of moving passengers around, a lot of south asians are paranoid about number 13, so a little number skip isn't that big of a deal as compared to switching passenger seats regularly
Lufthansa dosn‘t have it too actually.
13 is known to be an unlucky number, some hospitals don't have a floor 13 either. It's not too uncommon
great vid Josh. Personally ive experienced MYAirline as well and have found their services better than AA. Am sad what happened to MYAirline, no fault of the staff who are just trying to earn an honest days wage. I do hope MYAirline is bought over by a new investor. Cheerio.
oh I miss AirBerlin .... :o (because you mentioned it)
Row 13 is also missing in some western airlines as they've received complaints from customers
Yes I knew there was a golf course between the runways at the old airport 😂😂. I noticed it about thirty years ago when I was in my early teens. We landed in a BA 747-400 from LHR, it was very rainy but I was thinking, am I seeing correctly! Is that a golf course on the airport?
Love your historical tidbits. Some criticism from a fan-- improve the volume between scenes and consider upgrading cameras might go a long way. Keep up the good work, and always nice seeing you have fun!
Upgrade to what? Already have the latest gear.
In China, the unlucky number is 4, so you probably won't find row 4 on many airlines, or 4th floors in buildings. I've never been to China, but I read about this.
A friend of mine also flew MyAirline roundtrip between KL and Bangkok. I hear the airline will be resuming service soon after some reorganization. There are definitely way too many low cost carriers in Asia, but MyAirline seems to have a decent business model. Time will tell.
1990 first landing at Don Muang with KLM and first thing I saw was… the golf course 😅😅😅
Hi Josh - what happened to the Myanmar trip report?
The crashed Quantas plane that you show on the video, was actually sitting in the middle of the gold course on that photo 🙂.
Kuala Lumpur immigration took me more than 2 hours a couple weeks ago.
Lucky guy with 3 minutes haha!
Malaysia have now 2 defuct airline, prior was called ‘Rayani Air’. Apparently I never had a chance to fly with that carrier.
Malaysia had atleast 5 defunct airlines. Rayani and MyAirlines are just the most recent ones
The airplane exterior colors and design looked good and the inside looked nice. But the best think to see was Josh's hair back to being one color. 🙂👍
Myairlines really needs to duvest itself of the current owners and reinvent itself to survive as always it is another aspect of flying that affects the majority of flyers. Hope you did not rough it too much this time. Blue skies my friend.
The founder was charged under the Anti Money Laundering/ Counter Terrorism Financing Act. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s accused of both, likely just the money laundering part. Makes it sound like there were arms being smuggled in the cargo hold
There used to be a row 13, but it disappeared into a time warp.
Many cultures consider number 4 and number 13 as unlucky numbers. Similiar to how Friday the 13th is considered unlucky. In some places at Asia, having those kinds of numbers is another way of attracting bad luck energy.
You should also try Juneyao Airlines 787 dreamliner too
My apartment block has floors 12 12a 14....22 22a 24 etc. It doesn't help that the buttons in the lift appear to have been put in a random order.
hey josh would you mind to try Pelita Air? 😊 i’d like to see it
After more than 6 months I can at last sub to you
Our condo lift has no 13 too
We need more low cost airlines, more competitors better service
yes, row 13 is missing due to superstitious reasons. In Europe more than in Asia-if its a former Air Berlin plane-that would explain it.
OK I have to ask you what airplane model is in that box. This is the second video of seeing you tote that thing around lol.
Nice Czech national football team t-shirt!👍As a Czech i appreciate that.😉
Noel Philips must be unhappy that he missed doing this loo review.
In Thailand and some asian country believed that no.13 is very unlucky number… in Donmuang airport, there is no gate no.13 and terminal door no. 13 also 😅
Once owners arrested, I am not sure that it is worth to start again - at least due to reputation 😢
@@horseathalt7308 I understand that, but scandals usually overrules practice :( and not always a chance to start from
The scratch. May be it’s better do the rebranding before the restart
Just merge with AirAsiam problem solved.
Qantas will be thankful for mentioning that minor incident😊
Josh you’ve been carrying that model airplane box all around Asia and I really want to know…what plane model is that?
The 13th floor of buildings are also replaced with their next number as well in many Asian countries. No point having something that potentially makes the people/culture uncomfortable. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
I am going to Kuwait, Dhaka, SIN, Indonesis, East Timor, Malaysia, Brunei and Thailand i January. We are flying Pegasus, Jazeera, Biman, Jetstar, Batik Air, Citylink, Scoot, Royal Brunei, Firefly and Norse Atlantic, during our wacation. Luckily i hadn't ordered anny tickets with MYair, when they went bancrupt.
If Asia need one more LCC? East Timor is way to ekspensive, and needs one more route to SIN. But the hotels there are to few and expensive as well. Also Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea might need one more low cost carrier. Also the Filipines might need one more LCC to BKK and SIN. Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore have enough LCC. Just check out the nubers og flightw between Jakarta and Bali each day, it is a lot.
In many cultures, the number 13 is associated with bad luck, which is why many airlines prefer to avoid igniting the superstitions of their customers and have opted to remove the number from there seating plans. Irrational fear of the number 13 is known as triscaidekaphobia.
Golf course? Not with my wayward driver shots, there could be an incident!
Sarawak government boutique airline should be up and running next year, hopefully will not have such issue
My Qantas cabin crew trainer was on the QF1 which went off the runway for her inaugural flight 😅
Many skyscrapers in the United States do something similar to MyAirlines... omit floor 13 (as if bad luck is that dumb).
most likely better than air Asia i traveled on other day to Tokyo will never complain about Ryanair after the trip with them that's for sure, most scary flight i ever had and had plenty over the years. plus the fact nearly frozen to death no toilet rolls in loos i thought of your loo reviews at the time lol.
Just flown from EMA where there was no Gate 13
Don Meuang is owned by the Thai military. It is their golf course. Many hotels have no 13th floor.
European airlines tend to avoid row 13 due to superstition, in the same way (at least some) European hotels avoid room 13.
In parts of Asia (Japan, China, and others?), it is the number 4 which is avoided, as at least one reading of the number four is quite similar to the word for death.
I remeber that Lufthansa didn't featured row 13 also
Heyyy- kudos to your Czech jersey - do you have Czech relatives ?
Employees have not been paid for their August, September salary and their mandatory retirement contributions that is suppose to be allocated by the employer have not been paid for nearly 5 months. This is an airline supposedly setup with the idea that the main competitor Airasia would crack open belly up and downsize its operations. Unfortunately Myairline is backed by an unreliable and fraudulent owner plus the already over capacity domestic market of Malaysia means they have to consistently fund the airline for years before there is any signs of break even plus airasia is not showing any signs of slowing down.
Hey Josh, are you planning to try Air Macau of Macau, Lao Airlines of Laos or StarFlyer of Japan anytime soon ?
I love your Fußball jersey! 🇨🇿 don’t forget about the promised 🍺!
I don't know if any1 reads this, but what is the song called in the beginning of the video? It's such a banger. Love the vids!
It’s too late now some of the myairline a320s already have the airasia logo on them😢
