A few months ago a friend of mine flew the same route with Vistara, Frankfurt to Delhi. He told me that just after takeoff a cabin crew asked him if he would like to be upgraded to business class just for €150. My friend told him he has only €100 in cash. He accepted €100 immidiately and put him in business class. He never recieved any upgrade notice or any reciept. He also knew that, that money landed comfortably in that cabin crews pockets. What a shame Vistara.

I think the culture has rapidly decayed. Flew them in India from 2015-2018 and they seemed pretty ok. Even had status on their loyalty program. This 100 euro trick is an example that the staff are nurtured in a very corrupt and unprofessional environment. Tata, known for it's impeccable reputation needs to immediately fire all the staff, close the airline and come back when they have a proper team in place. Even one rotten apple would spoil the whole cart

As an EX Employee of this airline i truely agree to all the claims done by you and moreover the middle management is least bothered about the customer feedback. They have hired kids as managers and given them power to run the airline and the lower management team is very well experienced. I literally hv faced this issue when we joined from one of the reputed airlines in India, JET AIRWAYS. By todays date more than 60% of Jet crew were terminated by those middle managements ego issues. I wish either the TATA Sons or the Leaders of this company to do a thorough check on these kind of Management posts or else the DGCA should intervene before it leads to a major CRM issues. I can assure you that almost all the crew operating in the airline are going through severe management pressure and lack of energy as you said in your video. I have seen Crew arguing and fighting in front of guests at many instances in regards to their rosters. Hope the aviation authority should reconsider the CRM issues in this airline. Hv a great journey ahead Cahill 👍👍

You just saved me from booking a business class (domestic) with these folks. I contacted them few weeks ago to enquire about the entire process, including lounge access, since I plan to travel with an infant. Not that I'm entitled, the agents were quite lethargic and, in your words, uninspired. Not helpful at all. But I thought may be I got the deluded ones and should give Vistara a chance. After repeated calls for different queries, it's almost always the same response (different agents). Then UA-cam recommended me your video, which confirmed my doubts. Lastly, they've made headlines recently for their bad service. The crew harassing you for your review? Wow! They should stop wasting their time getting back at you and work on their well-known pathetic service. All-in-all, I'm staying away from them. Thanks Josh. Good work!

Since the inception of Vistara I have flown many times domestic C class with them. While there is indeed a slight decrease in service compared to 2-3 ago, I felt it still very good.
Seats are good but missing USB Plug for charging (except their newest A320).
Crew was mostly very friendly. For a domestic flight, food is amazing.
Without any doubt the best you can currently get in India, and even better than so called business class on domestic or even inter European flights.

I was also an ex-employee of this company and tried my best to make the management realise what crew members are goin through and the situation is worsening, But unfortunately I could not succeed as I had to fight the battle alone.
This battle can be won only if all the crew members stand up together and fight for their rights or else things will never change. I wish all the crew members Best of Luck for the further Journey.👍

Thank you josh for exposing Vistara Airlines. I think only you had the courage to take a stand and showing the reality to everyone. That what goes behind such a big brand like Vistara. But honestly it was much needed. Whatever the management is doing, simply thinking that we don't have any competition and no one is there who is looking at us so we can do whatever we want to do. If we like someone no matter if he or she is really working hard or not. We are going to promote him or her. And on the other hand people who work really hard on the flights but they are not in the buttering up business to the Crew Performance Team or to the Management are not being promoted because they just come, religiously do there work and go back. People like these who are the real heros are not being noticed and promoted. Your work will give strength to a lot of those who work really hard on flights and believes that one day there hard work will be noticed and they will get success in the company and grow because of there hard work and not because they were buttering the management. Keep up the good work Josh.👍

I’m a Vistara Gold member. Even took their credit card to earn points, trusting the Tata name. I’m general, the airline initial standards are deteriorated so far, that now a complaint is first met with “please delete the tweet”. I refused on occasions to delete my tweets, while sharing PNR details on DM (that’s the whole trick right? Send PNR on DM and take problematic conversations private). No resolutions, no attention, no improvement of bad features on app/website even after pointing it out clearly.
You are right - the alternatives - Jet and AI - were poorer in comparison. Vistara perhaps imagined that shiny advertising and paid influencers will do the trick for them. What’s worse is that it comes from the house of Tata, which happens to be one of the best corporate houses in India. They should simply fire the current management and establish a regulatory structure for the new team.

There are layers and layers of incometencies and contradictions in this airline. They just don't respond to complaints.
To graduate to a gold card, my page/record in their website showed that I just have to do one more flite. When I did that the number of flights I have to do to qualify for a gold card suddenly increased to 4. When I wrote a note to the customer division, I got a bland response saying its based on dynamic pattern. But what is dynamic, they keep it as a secret.
Two weeks back my wife was nearly carried by 4 Vistara flight attendants to board the flight. She is a wheel chair passenger and they donot have a ramp at Bagdogra airport. So my wife had to climb up the stairs with great difficulty while all the passengers waited for my wife to finish her climbing. It was so emabarrsing for me and our daughter.
When I asked the crew as why they don't have a ramp like Go or Indigo, they said it is because of security reason. What a laughable answer. When we landed at Delhi there were 9 wheelchair passengers and 4 wheelchair attendants. My wife had to literally fight for an attendant with a wheelchair. Interestingly, a crew proposed that one attendant can handle two wheelchairs simultaneously. How chaotic!
Even if they provide 20 percent of what they advertise as Indias best airline, they would do a great service to both The Tatas and Singapore Airlines. Interest of the passengers come much later.
I am still waiting for the responses to 5 or 6 well documented grievances of mine.
And I am keenly waiting for Jet Airways to relaunch its services and enjoy my platinum privileges. For their self proclaimed superb performance I give 30 out of 100 to vistara.

I suspect this is done intentionally by management to keep cabin crew beat down and cowed creating a toxic environment that has them at each other's throats instead of working like teams onboard and aircraft. Great job you are doing by reporting all the issues that damages the travelling experience. For those who love aviation, travelling is not just going from Point A to Point B, it is a whole experience. I know cabin crew work is not only serving coffee, wine or a meal, cabin work is also to protect us once onboard and lead all security proccedures when needed. But if we see all these issues with something so elemental like an onboard service, how will they react to an emergency situation?

In my experience legacy staff on long haul ( first and Club ) just know how to serve, the younger members, as you say are so wrapped up in 'selfies' and gossip in the galley they forget there are passengers in the cabin. It's all in the luck of the draw what you end up with.

OMG!! The Starbucks coffee in a paper cup and the cheap snack box is very low standard and poor even for a domestic economy class! And the main meal "choice" looked like a Premium Economy class meal no matter how good it was. No menus, no green salad served with the appetizer, no choice of breads, no choice of desserts, plastic cup for wine (was there a choice besides red or white?), no glass for water with meal, no drinks after take-off with nuts or anything offered, no after dinner digestif drinks like Cognac, Bailey's nor any other, and no amenity kit.... Business Class is not cheap nor inexpensive, so how does Vistara think offering a cheap product for expensive prices makes business sense?! I won't fly them ever, thank you Josh!

You’re unbiased (call out things that are truly bad and give high marks when they are good-Food!)
You’re totally more informed on ‘Customer Service’ than most airline personnel…who actually forget that they ARE in ‘Service Business’!
Wow…that so-called VP of ‘Bad Communication’, Rashmi…wow…you kidding me lady, wow.

You single-handedly taught an amazing lesson in Customer Service to your FA. Loved how nicely, gently, and expertly you turned around that FA. Great input…with a smile on your face. She learned a lifetime of Customer Service lesson in that one short conversation with you.
Last, but not least…you called out Sam Chui…LOVED IT!

    Great work here Josh.
Very disconcerting to hear of corruption between staffing supervisors. Once you get managers bartering staff for sexual favors you know they’ve lost the plot. The demoralization of the crew must be at its lowest. Sex work is a valid profession if it is something that the individual has autonomy over. When your body becomes a commodity for what routs and layovers you get it is vexing to the soul. Once you engage in the practice it damages moral and is difficult to recover from. Other staff judge you, respect goes out the window. Everyone reacts in-kind. It all turns into bartering - this for that. I’m really proud of your work here.
I’d much rather be impressed with you showing off amenity kits, immaculate surroundings, a selection of teas, and a caring staff - but without addressing the basics of human dignity for staff first none of the teas or topping off wine or grungy seat trays matter. What you have uncovered is vast. And you have used your platform to help. I applaud you.
It is incredible how any flight gets off the ground under such corruption.

Hi Josh! Extremely important eye-opener, thank you for the review! Have admired Vistara planes many times in Delhi and Mumbai and, actually, had serious plans to fly with them either FRA-DEL or DEL-FRA this year. Won't do it now! Found parts of your report absolutely disgusting, and the references to prostitution should really ring the bells in the management! Have been travelling to India since late 1980's and also worked there quite some time since 1990 (flew several times with ModiLuft, Sahara, etc. in the 1990's - fond memories of these airlines, as well as Jet Airways and Kingfisher). Love the country & love the people just like you and, therefore a little off the point, cannot quite understand the few comments below about hospitality in Indian hotels, don't really agree. Have had some of the best experiences in my life in Indian hotels: Leela, Oberoi, Taj, Trident...they know how to do it with pride, dignity & attention to detail. Wish Vistara had the same ambition: pride, dignity and, most importantly, respect towards their employees. Looking forward to your future reviews!

As someone in the customer service business, we often get overlooked when it comes to the front line. Some people don't realize how hard we work to please the customer and help enhance the customer experience. That being said, there is no excuse for bad or even lack of customer service. We're here to do a job, and if we can't or otherwise won't do that job, that means things must change. Whether it be with management or a change in where employees should be placed. Where I work, you get shifted around if you can't do a job. High valued employees are seen as the "everywhere" person, so we can obviously place them anywhere and they would be okay. Those people who come in to do their job tend to be the face of the company rather than those who come in just for their paycheck.
When you go to a restaurant, people often just think of the food, but it's also the experience. Bad customer service means a lack of returning customers. Similar to grocery stores, mom and pop shops, airline industry, etc. Just yesterday, I was called up to help deal with a situation with a customer - just so happened to be right in front of one of our supervisors who just wanted to buy her stuff and leave. I never said anything condescending or rude, or even asked the person to "calm down," which more often than not seems to flare up an ego rather than check it. Matter of a minute or two, it was done. Customer was on their way, fellow co-worker was in a better place afterwards, and everyone else in line finally went on their way.
The co-worker called me up and actually said "would you come deal with this? I'm about to lose my mind." lol

Indigo, vistara, gofirst. Mostly I felt with Indigo. It felt like they do it just to complete it. Nothing for the passengers. It is really disgusting. Sad, sometimes the truth is hard to take for some. Keep doing what you do. I look forward to each of your videos since my health pretty much keeps me homebound.

It's very important that these things are taken seriously and names like Singapore Airlines and Tata do not condone such actions and instead get things working correctly, which they are known for which is utmost professionalism.

@Josh cahill i too had a horrible domestic travel in Vistara from chennai to delhi.. The food was not cooked properly and the crew was under whelming... I think it's the same in the case of international travel.

Thanks for posting this Josh. Given that we are still not done with the pandemic, lapses in terms of hygiene cannot be accepted irrespective of whether it's a budget airline or a full service one. Even if there was no pandemic, a filthy aircraft is something that's highly unacceptable at least from a premium full service airline, PERIOD! Just shows the attitude of the employees towards their organisation. You should have highlighted this to the cabin crew head. Some of the allegations mentioned in your video are pretty serious. If those are true then the management needs a thorough clean up. Let's hope this video reaches the concerned people and action is taken accordingly 🤞. As a potential customer who was looking forward to his first travel experience with them in future, instances like these give me second thoughts about flying with Vistara 😔.

I am a big fan of yours ☺️
I love vistara and have hopes that the tata group will make Air India great again.
Air India used to be one of the top 3 most profitable airlines in the world until 1980 thanks due to the management of JRD tata.🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
I think the reason that the cabin was flimsy was probably because the restriction of international flights in India
    Have recently been reduced
Hence it will take some time for the company to get back on track.😍☺️☺️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

To make amends, one must first accept that there is a problem! Vistara top management in absent on the ground and this further filters down to the floor. In their hub of Delhi I have rarely seen a Vistara supervisor or station manager around the check-in counters - even during rush hour! We are left to the contract check-in staff, who are another problem altogether!

the caterring of vistara comes from The Famous Taj Hotels grp. in India and they do have a variety of speciality cuisines which enhances your taste more to the food on vistara.

This is very disappointing! Vistara was my first choice for domestic flights when I am in India. Now I might have to rethink.

Very similar to my Air France experience except the food was horrible on Air France and this was pre COVID-19. Twice on an A330 and twice on 777 except my experience didn’t get better and only got worse. On one of my flights the entertainment system stoped working 3 hours into an 8 hour flight and when I brought it up to the crew, I was told to go back to my seat and someone would come over to look at it and 30 minutes later someone came by and tried to reset the screen and it still didn’t work so they told me sorry I guess you will not have any entertainment for the rest of the flight. I then asked about WiFi so I could watch a movie on my iPad however I was told that the WiFi wasn’t working in a very rude manner. Horrible service, mediocre food, dirty seats so no more Air France for me. By the way this was all on business class.

The best thing about this presentation was the fact that it wasn't a biased blindsided beating rather on contrary to the title of the video we were shown how the crew improved their service. This shows that your videos are neutral and if you are complaining about something it is mostly correct.

It's shocking to hear about the corrupt practices at Vistara. They'll never be a world class airline if there is no meritocracy. I sincerely hope Vistara takes need and turns things around. They should learn from Air Asia.
