  • Why i bought...60's Sonic Blue player Mexican Fender Stratocaster, aside form my Guitar Center disaster (who i have now given up on with regard to used equipment) this is my review of my new sonic blue 60's player Fender strat, it's an amazing guitar that plays so well and thank you to Detroit Guitar for sending out a fantastic instrument.
    Mick Taylor’s guitar though is a 90’s American reissue with a 7 1/4” radius neck.
    I ordered a Fender Mustang amp a year ago and the power kept cutting out so i upgraded to a Hotrod 3 (used) from Guitar Center, that had no fuse in it so i had to buy a fuse and when i fitted it the amp made an extremely loud (scarily loud) buzzing noise so i returned that and upgraded again to a Hotrod 4 deluxe from Sweetwater, then i order my Sonic Blue strat and a completely different guitar turned up, a lake placid blue strat with 6 screw trem in ok condition, i returned it and the guy at GC said that the store in Florida had the original guitar i ordered but someone who had only worked there for 5 days had attempted to adjust the trusrod with a screwdriver and ruined it, would you get your guitar set up there?
    Anyway, all's well that ends well and i have this beautiful guitar.
    Thanks for watching as always.

    Totally agree, it's a great instrument. Got mine new in 2015 in Sonic Blue. The pickups are quite strong magnets so on my instrument are lowered quite a bit and still lots of output for light rock and blues. Cheers mate from Canada.

    That is a great sounding strat, Derek. I think the 10's were a very good choice. I think those are a steal for the money and that color is very cool. GC is sub par unless you are standing right in front of them and the instrument in question is in your hands. That is why I try to do any online business with Sweetwater especially if it involves an instrument.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  4 роки тому

      Brad Laue thanks Brad, I’m really pleased with it, and yes even Guitar Center’s used equipment on their website has a sub par description it’s like they don’t care about that side of the business.

    • @bradlaue1718
      @bradlaue1718 4 роки тому +1

      @@DerekPaulGuitar I agree. Unless the used guitar or amp is in the Hollywood store I take a pass. Whenever I can, I try to dampen the negativity towards GC. Given their business model, people's expectations are too high. No newbie should ever walk in their and expect a good experience. Do research online, know exactly what you want and leave if they don't have it or a substitution you have already researched. Make sure you know the return policies of that particular store, (they vary), and you're good to go. I like having places like GC and Sam Ash to try out new stuff, and I patronize them if they have what I want.

    I recently purchased a 2015 sunburst version of this that was owned by a guitar tech and in immaculate condition. I have owned and sold several high end instruments throughout the year including gibsons, PRS, american fenders and an EBMM Cutlass RS and I have to say, I absolutely adore this guitar as much as any high end instrument I have owned throughout the years. The neck profile and radius on this guitar is absolutely perfect. It feels almost "gibsony" due to the thick neck and the 12 inch radius, but it still has that nuance that makes a strat a strat. This guitar imho has the best neck profile fender has made.

Mine was from Guitar Center for $499 plus tax. They had a 60s reissue made in Mexico but it was really heavy. When a Strat is way heavy to me the sound is dead, even plugged in. I can play a 12" radius fine as I do on Gretsch and Gibson but I would prefer a 7.25 or 9.5 on a Strat but it's good regardless.
