John Wayne voice "By God girl, that's a Colt's Dragoon!"
I would have been disappointed if this weren't in the comments.
You for got to mention that Mae is no bigger than a corn nubbin.
Though in the actual movie it was a Walker for some reason
That's exactly the first thing I thought of.
@@slaughterhound8793 Ew.
Outlaw Mae Wales.
Maesie?
Those were Whitneyville-Hatford walkers. Or a transitional Walker, the father of Dragoon
You beat me to it, my old dvd came out for spin after watching this 😄
One of the most beautiful revolvers ever made.
You have a very odd definition of "beautiful". Lol
Beautiful? That would be the 1851 Colt Navy.
It got the proportions right. The Walker got a little cartoonish with its length.
Hand Canon. "Desert Eagle" of it's time.
Eh, this is Dirty Harry's S&W. The Walker is the DE
Judge Holden approved!
That 4+ lb weight is why they called em' Horse Pistols - because they were (allegedly) too heavy to carry on a belt. They were supposed to be carried in pairs in saddle holsters.
And not to shoot horses ?
@@ommsterlitz1805 Only if you _really_ had to.
I heard somewhere that these guns had an extra large cylinder to put enough power behind the 44 bullet to stop a horse in a single bullet@@Tunkkis
@@ommsterlitz1805Horses are expensive...
@@ommsterlitz1805that's the walker, mainly. Not an intentional design.
I've had an Uberti Walker, a Dragoon, a couple of 1851's, an 1860 or two, but I have to say, one of the most fun and entertaining revolvers I've ever shot is the 1848 .31 baby Dragoon.
To the town of Augua Fria rode a stranger one fine day…
Hardly spoke to folks around her…
Didn’t have to much to say…
most overplayed country western song ever released, thanks alot NV fans. Used to be good before it became obnoxious.
@@Pigness7boo hoo 💀
isnt it "To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day"
@@johnpurdy3336hoo boo lol
There's just something about Mae firing a pistol the length of her forearm with an eager smile on her face that warms my heart 😁
THE DRAGOOOOOOOOON
Beautiful! The pistol was alright too.
Somewhere, Josey Wales smiles down upon you this day.
@danjohnston3422 Nitpicking here, but Josey Wales carried two Colt Walker 1847 as his primary guns.
Could we get more than a minute of Mae? Seriously, I always enjoy the minute with Mae.
When switching to virtually anything is faster than reloading.
My favourite Old West revolver for sure, what a gorgeous piece!
the smoke at the end transitioned so well
"Why, by God, girl, that's a Colt's Dragoon! You're no bigger than a corn nubbin, what're you doing with all this pistol?" :)🙂
"It was papa's".
Though in the movie it was actually a Walker
If you would have substituted Mae for Mattie, Tom Chaney would have been one dead outlaw at their 1st meeting.
What a hand cannon that pistol is. Awesome.
I got to hold an original 2nd Model Dragoon a few decades ago - there was a gun merchant who specialized in finding rare items and he let me look at and hold them. I must have big hands because that Dragoon felt perfect for my grip.
I've been told originals are extremely rare, so you were very lucky.
I've always wanted one of those
Depending on what country you live in these may be surprisingly easy to get.
Always enjoyable. Thank you very much.
THAT is a bigarse gun.
I have owned one of those since 1968.
Finally a video on the dragoon!
That sure is a monster
Me encanta este canal ✨
Thank you for a great vid!💯💥👍!
MAE ! I LOVE YOU !
Love the grin.
Mae is Mother of Dragoons :)
That firearm is terrifying lol
Miss you Mae ❤
Getting some true grit vibes here.
daaamn this is nearly ASMR to watch O_O that thing is incredibly beautiful! truely a masterpiece!
Mae is cute! CUTE!
a great minute.
Oh yeah, you can Colt my Dragoon.
That's a big pistol!
my..thats a big one...scorpio 1971
I read the video title as "Colt Dragon". 🤣🤣🤣
Dragoons (the men) were so-named because the single-shot wheelock pistols they shot from horseback were called 'dragons'.
"My goggle, coat's dragoon"
My heart
0:32 had me smiling. Love it.
Mr Colt brings artillery to the party.
The horse pistol. So named for its holster placement and for the size of it’s BDE
What a monster
My favorite black powder revolver
Cool,gun
COLT DRAGON 🐉
"Girl, you're no bigger than a corn nubbin - whatchu doin' wit' a pistol like that?"
Good Job Mae🎉🎉🎉🎉
"What's that thar in your poke..."
The stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Tudo espetacular.
Pass the whiskey
I'm late. I could have watched this video 54 times already. 😢
God created men, Colt made them equal.
The verdict's read and the sentence passed, by word of Judge Colt and his jury of six.
John Moses Browning made it stick.
Mikhail Kalashnikov made some more equal than others
Minty fresh !
Now that is a big iron.
The biggest iron until 1935 until Smith and Wesson came up with what would be later known as the Model 27/28 .357 Magnum. Technically surpassed by the Colt 1902 Military and 1903 Pocket Hammer in .38 ACP, but a little too ahead of the time of most frontierspeople, lawmen, troops, and outlaws. That would change about 1905ish. Many still carried cartridge converted Walkers/3rd Model Dragoons well after 1935
Six rounds then six minutes to reload
I own one , I use 40 gr. 0f Goex fff Under a pure lead ball .454 Dia. ( yeah a real .44-40 ) powerful as hell ! And it’s a lot of Fun too. Oh I carry it in a California Slim Jim holster with a couple of preloaded cylinders too ! These were carried by MEN .
That thing is massive. The £4.1 pricetag is nice, but I wonder how much it weighs
Has a video been made about the Colt SAA yet?
Whoot whoot
Good contender for ccw.
muito legal a Colt Dragoon😃👍👍👍
Geeze, that thing is beefy.
"Did you see the size of that gun? It was bigger than she was!"
...finish your Opponents with your Dagger...
This explains why I thought it was a good idea to switch from Dragoon to Machinist in FFXIV
The is it. The Big Iron™
BADASS Pistol.
First time on your channel, very nice, I'm a grown man and not sure I could handle that good for you ! . Are you a descendant of Mattie Ross ? Hahaha had to ask .
Big iron...Big iron!
I have repros of 1st,2nd and 3rd model Dragoons. They arent the best shooters for accuracy but are my favorites. The most accurate is my 1860 Army.

"And here to some business
With the BIG IRON on his hip"
Big Iron on her hip.....
What level of impact are we talking about for a fully loaded dragoon? The walker and 1858 are stompers for BP, but the walker is supposed to be legendary. Despite that, the joules at impact seems pretty varied. Is this the strongest revolver until the .357 magnum? Does it hit harder than the scary gigantic Mars pistol?
John Wayne walks in on Mae: By God girl! Thats a Colts Dragoon... 0~o Mae: Why yes. yes, it is. ^~^
Why you're no bigger than corn nubbin , what are you doing with all this pistol?
Would he have named her “dismally formidable?”
❤
Josey Wales would approve.
Gun look’s almost as long as the Lady’s arm😀
I always wanted a walker but i want it modified to shoot modern cartridges... it's a very handsome firearm to me anyway
There are at least three ways to do that. Simplest is the drop-in conversion cylinder, the kind where you have to take the gun apart in order to reload the cylinder.
Next up in line would be the Kirst conversion where a new cylinder in installed with a loading gate (and a groove is milled into the recoil shield).
Thirdly, it's possible to take it to a gunsmith and have a Richards-Mason style of conversion done just like in the old days, turning it into a gate-fed cartridge gun with an ejector rod.
The horse pistol, so named because horses were trained to use them. It... It didn't work out well. They couldn't fit their hooves through the trigger guards.
Hell is coming to breakfast
Cosmo Dragoon !!
👍👍👍
There is a reason it was used as a horse pistol.
Seems to be extremely heavy
This was the first handgun I ever picked up.
No other pistol feels 'hefty' to me now. I mean, an M1911 weighs exactly the same as a Colt 1860 Army, which was the drastically lightened replacement for this here Dragoon.
legal to own

i think heavy gun
Visions of Mae playing Mattie Ross opposite John Wayne and Glenn Campbell.
and she's a better actor than either one.
Loads a mite slow
Big iron on her hip
I dunno about other channels, but thirst bots seem to love gun channels.
They are out in full force today.
Yep. They're notorious on the Royal Armouries channel too.
they must know the male to female watch ratio
They are everywhere for a while now. They have found the guntuber channels just recently...
No grease on bullets 😮
The historical way, I've been told.
I think they used either tallow or a mix of tallow and beeswax when these were in current use.
A modern sorta-equivalent would be to sub a species of white lithium grease for the tallow. You want a cold texture sorta like butter, and smear it atop the loaded chambers. It seemed to help a fair bit when I tried it (many) years ago.

Mae, that's as big as you!
So it’s a Not-As-Big Iron
It's still pretty big
