I would absolutely watch 2 hours straight of Hazel climbing, and talking. Feel like meditation to me…
I really enjoyed this story. With ropes is good too, I like ropes!
I like ropes too...who would drive a car without brakes!? All the same a courageous woman and a truly great climber.
The rope isn't like the brake on a car. It's more like an airbag or seatbelt. So there're the people who wanna have as much safety as possible and on the other hand there're people who like really old cars without all that safety or assistance equipment. But why are those people liking it? I think because of the pur feeling. The feeling that there's only you and the machine and nothing else.
And I think it's the same in free soloing. Just you, the rock and nobody else.
I don't do free soloing but I can understand people doing it. Just my two cents.
The emptiness is why I’m here....... Thanks once again Hazel for reminding us how important it is to quite the mind.... ❤️
*quiet
quiet the mind....
if you want to check out some more climbing content I just posted a new video and would love to hear what you think.
beutiful video and amazing story. But I've to notice how soling has become very loved by media and video makers. Stay safe everyone!
rutto noise just had the same thoughts in mind.. Dont know if i like that attitude of free solo being something really cool and everyone is able to watch that, I think its pretty missleading.
Still a really nice shot with an amazing athlete!
@@MrApetape I think Jimmy said it best in one of the interviews for Free Solo: free soloing is a pretty self-regulating activity. You might see all these in the media and be inspired to go free solo but the second you stand at the bottom of the cliff with no gear, if you're not fully prepared mentally to do that, you're going to listen to your instincts and back off.
if you want to check out some more climbing content I just posted a new video and would love to hear what you think.
@@Vinzafy Unfortunately it might make non-climbers try it. In fact I’ve already heard of a few mountain rescue incidents where that was the case.
It is the spirit, we are in. Thank You!
I love the poetry of this... the essence of simply being, sans opinion and interpretation... life at its purest. People who need this see past the illusion of identity. Embracing the vast emptiness rather than desperately trying to fill every moment and space with stuff... afraid to face life and the end of life. Eternity is hard truth, but all truth is sublime. Becoming space and time rather than being trapped in it is sublime.
This is the only sane reason to face annihilation, in the endeavor to blast away that which is not indestructible in the human spirit. Arriving ultimately at transcendence.
Listening to Hazel is like meditation. This is such a lovely video! ❤️
I like Hazel. I like her outlook on life generally. That bit at the end had me in tears. I like her.
I'm not a climber, what so ever, but I still find myself enjoying watching Hazel climb and move. Amazing athleticism, calmness and massive she-balls. Mad respect!
if you want to check out some more climbing content I just posted a new video and would love to hear what you think.
I would truly hate for anything to go wrong. You are so amazingly fearless a true super hero.
Great video and lovely words from Hazel. The UK really is truly stunning we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep.
Great video and classic routes.
Apart from what people think nobody out there suddenly decides to free solo because of shots like these and dies. Anyone who can climb already knows the feeling of exposure and their limits, and anyone who cant will be 5 feet off the ground and realize how scared they are.
Who are all these supposed people that just dive in and free solo after watching a youtube video?
this. i guess it's mostly the envy of some to see these people who are passionate about what they do actually doing it and by being so professional making it look as though it was easy or "careless" to perfomr these amazing feats. i wouldn't give it too much thought, some are just helplessly petty about how other people live their life.
Tbh, a reasonable climber wouldn't solo anything anywhere near their top grades, and wouldn't pull on to solo anything unless they have climbed it clean.
People who decide to dive right in to free solo deserve their Darwin award.
@@TheNeverslept Not just climbed it clean, but climbed it clean until they can climb it in their sleep.
... and also never, ever free solo on limestone, of course.
if you want to check out some more climbing content I just posted a new video and would love to hear what you think.
Always impressed by Hazel, such an inspiring athlete! Keep raising the bar!
Hazel is a beast! such a great climber
Hazel is awesome; great work, loved the film.
Dude. Why did I tear up? This video brought me back to my own favorite outdoor experiences. Beautiful, well done everybody, I gotta go for a hike now
I love the mental game of climbing. No way would I never free solo but those screaming thoughts are still there with ropes. Feels so sweet to push past them.
Beautiful video of a amazing human, you rule Findlay!
I live Snowdonia so much it really is nice that Hazel is there living it so well.
The end is priceless :D
She’s funny too, anything with her in it I’ll watch. 👍. More Hazel productions!
Enjoyed it. Hazel is an inspiration and just so human.
FN brilliant and so well done by all. Thank you. This means a lot to me and more Hazel, please :)
Thank you Hazel 🙏
Stunning bit of film. Loved the pace and music. Makes me want to get back to N Wales!
Thanks Kevin.
if you want to check out some more climbing content I just posted a new video and would love to hear what you think.
I love this video - So well put Hazel!
I know and love your words.
Always be you.
great film with no romance and leaving my hands sweaty from watching people free solo
what a perfect day!
Superb. Very Zen.
That'll do.
One of my fav. vids on YT.
So beautiful and so funny at the end. :D
Beautiful
Beautiful pictures and so funny at the end. :)
Amazing!
the ending though.. :D nice touch
"I have everything I need not to fall"
...and I trust her.
Has shoulder operations and comes back soloing? Go hazel!
Get the F out of here!!!! That was sooooooooo sick!!!!! Lovely vid!!!!!! I’m sooooooo hyped to climb! Yay emptiness!
Well, that was lovely!
Respekt, so nice Video.
Wow that was amazing
The only experience we have is the moment by moment because the past is just a perception and the future is has not been created. Action without thought is the perfect experience. It is only achieved in mastery over the process of a repeated action or a dangerous one which requires total focus.
Holy cow this was beautifully shot. Incredible work!
What a powerhouse.
Ever the inspiration. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I find myself in the same state of mind when I climb. Much respect to you. You’re one of my favorite climbers and thinkers.
Sweet video hazel
Amazing. Great filming.
Inspiring
Which is the slate route, I wonder? The other two are the Gates and Diagonal, I assume, though the second sequence on the later doesn't look that familiar.
glorious! what a beast this girl!
Good work all. Your thoughts are not truth. In truth, they are not even yours.
Nice very nice
Her comment: "I have everything I need not to fall but I still see myself broken on the ground." (Oh, dear!!)
loved it
Cool.
Anybody know what shoes Hazel was running in?
Wow! Amazing climbing, and what a beautiful place; where is it?
Better Life Reviews Snowdon, North Wales. The town at the start is Llanberis.
Hazel looking extremely fit atm. Think that she's turned the shoulder and finger injuries to her long term advantage. Some people look up to footballers or basketballers or maybe boxers or UFC fighters or politicians, all those shit ass heroes who supposedly have balls. Hazel Findlay is a hero to me
The goat at the beginning sounds like it's going to sing "At Last" by Etta James
Good Vid
That was a very lovely 4:15.
Fantastic as usual Paul, was that first climb California Arete? And what's the name of the arete to the right of Cenotaph Corner called?
Cemetery Gates, ***, E1 5b, FA J Brown D Whillans 30/Sep/1951
TheSvenVids check Don Whillans last climb 1985.
Hot Aches Productions as referenced in the smiths song
Beautiful piece, but holy shit, Hazel...
Big up Pete's Eats 0:15
Great climber, crass movie.
Could it be that videos with female climbers are much more ready to admit how terrifying climbing can be? With Alex Honnold, The Wide Boyz (Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker) etc. it’s always just: “Yeah, this part is sketchy and scary as fuck but you just have to carry on and continue climbing”
I’m a very nervous and anxious climber myself and just don’t know how to deal with it
When did we decide there was any such thing as the mind at all?
Beautifully done. However I'm really not comfortable with how soloing is being promoted at the moment. Beautiful film pieces being put together making the lure of soloing so much more attractive to the until now none climbing youngster who excels at everything they turn their hand to, usually.
I hope this does not end up the summer that brought climbing further into the public eye for all the wrong reasons. Especially after starting off with such positivity at the Oscars, and this little contribution by the beautiful Hazel, without doubt one of the worlds best climbers that many none climbers wouldn't know, or even appreciate until they find themselves out there.
If you're uncomfortable with it don't watch it.
M Hughes, as an aged climber & soloist (in the past) - I’m 61 now. I agree with you entirely. Soloing is such a personal thing, ultimate focus and concentration when on the rock. Let people find there own way in their own time. I too am uncomfortable with the current promotion and glamorisation of it.
@@flurblewibble7735 This has nothing to do with the glamorisation of free soloing. If that's what you think it is then you're blind.
Awe Mister Hughes, are you offended? Are people not living their lives the way you want? It's just horrible isn't it?
The video made me want to hike. (My favorite outdoor activity). Just my two cents
What I want to know is how long has Findlay been soloing?
Not hating at all with all this sudden solo filmmaking just curious???
Ages.
She's soloed loads of stuff with Alex Honnold.
She also soloed loads of stuff before she ever met Honnold. Her soloing has nothing to do with Honnold.
@@masterpropper2485 besides them being good mates and even she has said that he got her into doing a lot more of it.
I know they're mates and of course there's been some interaction going on. Still, Findlay doing some casual little free solo excursions up 'easy' stuff since probably age 18 has nothing to do with the cutting edge solos of Honnold or his Free Solo movie release.
"I have everything I need not to fall" except a rope!
Edit: your awesome but your free soloing scares me.
@Hotaches are these FAs or established routes?
No, classic routes.
Mesmerizing, and absolutely beautiful, yes!
(But to my daughter, please, please, just no.)
Dream woman
Your poor mother!
Great video and an inspiring young woman. However, I think solo climbing is an irresponsible sport.
First climb was an e1 4c... Considering she climbs e9, I think she's fine don't you...
Scott Keith so is boxing and mma and mountaineering and solo sailing round the world and any number of other risk taking endeavours. So what?
"I have everything I need not to fall"? You are freesoloing. You have nothing you need not to fall. That must be one hell of A loud record playing in your head if you have to climb a mountain to shut it up. Honestly though I can relate. Mine is loud, angry and never shuts up.
good footage and so forth but why can't people just do things for themselves but constantly seek validation via youtube likes. "the emptiness is what i'm here for" yeah sure with a fucking camera crew around
Noo! Not hazel too. I dislike seeing anyone free solo. Unnecessary and I don't get it
Can we call it: “The free solo frenzy” ? Let’s hope no one tries to emulate this without the skills or the mindset required...
Oh, hush. Everyone already has that hope.
its not a frenzy... climbers have been doing this for decades.
@@haydengutiw I am fine with it. But it seems that videos about it are flourishing lately.
@@SeraphinoII If you are doing something cool and inspiring then post it. You don't have to worry about the idiots that might die while trying something like this. Are all those videos of climbing in the Himalayas or Patagonia flourishing danger too? That's a lot more dangerous than what Hazel was doing. What about videos of vloggers driving while talking to the camera, or eating lots of fast food? When do we get to stop worrying about what idiots might do?
Going on the Hymalayas and splatter yourself is far harder than go to the nearest crag and say “i can do it” because reasons. And my opinion is that if you are risking your life in an incredibly dangerous activity (and can be done with far less risk), you are substantially disrespecting all the ones wich loves you.
I really believe in freedom (and this kind of freedom is not likely to see thousands of dollars spent for your choice). What i can’t agree with is videomakers that film and cut free soloing like you would with surfing, biking, runnig ecc. freesoloing is incredibly dangerous and does little to improve a Climbing performance in my opinion. Cheers.
Beautiful filming and very wise and inspiring words well done .And understood.
Beautiful
