Nah this guy’s level is crazy… Been a Slipknot fan for almost 20 years and Joey will forever be the man, but Eloy is light years away in another league on its own. He’s disgustingly good. Top notch.
I loved Joeys playing and writing, but let’s all be honest, the clarity and timing and mixing of techniques is just a whole different thing with Eloy. Best metal drummer in the world

None of it was gifted to him.

There's a making of their last record quadra on youtube and you can see him cutting tracks. He's very adamant with the producer that no, we don't splice or edit. Being that I'm a drummer myself.I literally just smile and laugh every time.I watch him play because he's so musical. That left hand is a jack hammer with those grace notes. You don't see many metal drummers doing that with that type of power. 🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥👊👊👊

As much as it's great seeing him get recognised at being the incredible drummer he is now he's in Slipknot, I almost want to shout it out aloud to everyone that he also made some incredible records in Sepultura of his very own. Tracks like Vandals Nest, Iceberg Dances, The Pentagram are just brilliant...... the guy has being doing this for years now, it's almost frustrating it's taken him joining Slipknot to be recognised in this manner! I'm a drummer myself, he brings such joy watching him play and alternate between left hand/right hand lead, his musicality and unbelievable feel for a song. What a guy
Eloys technicality is so underrated he's known for beating the crap out of the drum set really hard and really fast but his grooves and gospel chop style feels and Jazzy ghost notes are top notch

Agreed. I loved Joey, but Eloy brings a level of power to it that Joey didn't have. Joey was technically savant, but Eloy ads the muscle to it.
Him and Mario from Gojira are at the top for me. But many, many amazing drummers in metal right now. Great time for the genre!
