It's a extreme pleasure to know that there's fans of The Wild, Wild, West who can appreciate great orchestrated scores of the series talented musicians who add to the greatness of the show.👍👌....& a special thank you to the one responsible for uploading & bringing attention to it👍
In this episode Jim gives the girl the vulcan neck pinch, guess it works for secret service agents too! Love how Jim is laughing when he throws the TNT! ❤❤❤ what a great show! Fyi Ross Martin was afrad of horses,so his double did most of the on horse stuff, and he had an extra gentle horse for close ups!😊😊😊
The music is based on a sophisticated brass section coupled with various and colorful percussions (drum, triangle, hand drum like a bongo, bells). The melody is dominated by a series of brass (trombone, french horn, tuba, trumpet, cornet) all the way.
Can anyone who knows Orchestration tell me what musical instruments Richard Shores used for this episode? I remember when I first viewed this episode as a kid, and I never forgot the magnificence of this musical score, it was absolutely brilliant. I only played piano, so I don't know jack about the myriad of instruments that can be used in such works..Thanks for any expert input. An internet search about Mr Shores and the instruments he chose was fruitless..
Also check out other compositions from Richard Shores, including one great musical jazz cue from the series "Perry Mason" from the episode "The Case of the Twice Told Twist". Not to mention the compositions he composed for "Hawaii Five-O",and "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E"

One of the show's best scores (no wonder Shores was the only composer to work on all four seasons). Too bad this doesn't have the cue for the end of act 1 (to go with the freeze-frame of Artie and pals drinking) which got tracked into seemingly half that season's episodes!
Is the music in the first scene definitely Richard Shores? I seem to remember that music being played at the beginning of Act 3 of "Night of the Falcon" and the music being credited to Leon Klatzkin.
*I watched The Wild Wild West when it was originally broadcast. Still one of my all-time favorite TV series. And though the chase music here is fine, this was not a good episode and Season 3 was not a good season overall, although it was better than Season 4. Only seasons 1 and 2 were consistently good, upon which the overall reputation of The Wild Wild West rests. Furthermore, seasons 1 and 2 had better scripts and guest stars, as well as better musical scores.*
I asked SAE and it seems it's a matter of rights. CBC owns it, I think. And they seem to be tough foes when it comes to releasing their productions. Same goes with H5-0 music. A shame, for collectors. With Goldsmith, Morton Stevens, Leith Stevens and Alex Courage, Shores is in my top list of TV composers.
Fans of this show & the music, wanna experience a treat less than 2 minutes long? May I suggest you type in Wild Wild West - fun animated clip and be amazed at what you see. It's one mighty clever commercial for Susan Kesler's book on TWWW, with animation of West & Gordon in the style of Gumby or The California Raisins. Watch & then tell me you don't agree. I won't believe it.
A rousing musical score during a long chase scene! Scenes accompanied by a great musical score always was the highlight of this show!

he tried shedding the Bonanza role he hated

Definitely Shores. Shores wrote the whole score.

David Crumpler Richard Shores was a big part of the fun of '60s TV. Instantly recognizable style, no need to wait for the closing credits.
face pace music...
