- FROM the album "THUMP & TWANG"
This tune was supposed be the follow-up single to "Gaslight". It was written during the Parlimentary Debate to end capital punishment in Canada. If we had ever gotten into the studio with it, it could have been one of the first Canadian Heavy metal records! (With a little psychedelia thrown in).
Hey Stan, I was the singer-songwriter-harp player! I've know Mike for 42 years. He is one of the sweetest guys you'd ever want to meet and a genuine innovator, especially on that good old stalwart, the Fender Telecaster!

Dave Bingham
Incredible, We have Robin Boers playing drums in our band in Ont Canada! Still has it, 70 years young, and in better shape then 90 percent of my friends. Facebook, The Sean Bourke Band! The stories about the rolling Stone, Beach boys and other are amazing!!
A heavy dose of Canadian Psych
from one of the very best bands
from the Great White North.
Hi Dave, great band and your vocals are boss.
Hey, glad you dig the song so much. We never got in the studio with it 'cause we broke up
the band. I did record 4 different versions of it with 3 different versions of the DUCKS. The other version was with a Toronto band, "Leigh Ashford". I'll let you know, here, when I put this one up on EBay!

when?
Wow man... this is really great! And even uploaded by one of their bandmembers!
God if only I was a mere 40 years younger..
Yeah, We had a deal with Pete Traynor and we got to try out all of the prototypes for the amps that he was developing at the time!
We NEVER lacked enough power!
D.J.Bingham.
This was recorded "Live" @ The CBC
network studios in Toronto, Ontario. Jan. 1968.

fine band they did many fine tunes great post
Wonderful group and fantastic lead singer. Was the host here Trudy Young?
Great vocal, Dave.
I remember seeing this when it was first aired...I was 18 at the time. Great band...could have made internationally if they had a few more breaks. They had the talent.
What a track!
It's too bad you never made it in the States. I could see you mixing in with the Detroit rock scene quite well.
Just discovered this band and I think they’re great.
Just as I remember. Too bad you didn't get it done on wax with the group. Greatest Canadian band! We (village kids) would never go to hear The Guess Who back then , I think they gigged at the Carriage House for awhile...no, we wanted The Ducks!!!! You rocked!
Mac
Greatness...An Electric Prunes vibe and that’s something to be proud of...Love to see a live version of Nothing, which you can still hear
on radio in the Windsor/Detroit area.
Uno de mis grupos favoritos de garage canadiense en inglés,muy buenos, pero también en la Canadá francófona había grupos garage espléndidos, como Les Miserables,Les lutins,Les Sixtans, les Sultans( estos más Beatles beat)...
Too bad it didnt get to the studio""
Solid sound;
A pure heavy psych gem !!!
thank you for this''
ps:get the band back together and come to greece for a live show !!! I know more than a few psych heads that will be there

We've got a Traynor Mono-Bloc and it will blow just about any wussy speaker you can feed to it.....We still have the tower speakers for it, but they sizzled years ago....
correcto-mundo about never lacking power!
Thanx for posting this Bad-ass video!!!!
DUCK ON!!!
Powerful song.
"I don't think last rites do any good." Well said from the boys back then.
what a trip!
Great.
Wow, wild
I'm assuming that the person that posted this song is a Canadian and a key member of the legendary " UGLY DUCKLINGS ".....First thing I would like to say is thanks for posting this gem....clue, the CBC emblem on the bottom right corner....this track must have been repeated on the CBC within the last 2-15 years . I'm just testing the waters before I write my RANT....(very soon)....Just watching CNN this second and all I see is mass murder after mass murder including murderization of the nation. CNN can't keep up...HANGMAN.....are we all victims or perps ? Is this really the land of the free ? ...GOD SAVE AMERICA !
this is a CBC (canadian broadcasting corporation) recording from the canadian band. I'm assuming in toronto..
Sounds like "The Iron Butterfly" on reds...
Is there an actual recording of this song or is this the only one?
No Kidding
Belongs in a movie soundtrack. Something about that one riff, that makes me think "Godsmack" or something similar?
Perhaps "JESUSCHRIST SUPERSTAR'S Heaven On Their Minds"
If you were lip-synching to this track, then it means that this track must exist somewhere, correct?
they are a canadian band man.
want to know if you guys remember being stuck in a Duffys taxi between Brandon and Wpg New Years eve about 50 years ago tonight?
+Rico man - Yes! Yes! That would have been Glynn our Rhythm Guitarist & Mike McKenna, our Lead Guitarist! And they made it into The Peg just in time to catch the first plane to Toronto! Meanwhile, our Van ran out of gas on the highway & the rest of the guys almost froze to death! Hey, Rico man, it's all in "The Book". Go to this website & check it out - the whole friggin' story is in there! www.friesenpress.com/bookstore/title/119734000017274129/Dave-Bingham-Noise-from-the-North-End
Dave Bingham Dave I think there were 3 in the taxi.It was really really cold. I put my dads car battery that was in the house keeping warm in the taxi, siphoned gas out of the truck to get them to Wpg. After I got the taxi started by pushing it down the road with the truck I went to turn around on the highway and ran out of gas.We never did get the battery back from Duffys taxi. I think to be fair you should send me a copy of the book. Rod
NOW I KNOW WHERE THE RIFF FROM "HEAVEN ON THEIR MINDS" (JESUSCHRIST SUPERSTAR) COMES FROM !!!
I hear that too!
Is Mike to the left or the right?
Definately Mike Mckenna.
Swag.
jay and warren bingham were in vancouver-any relation?
No, no relation..........but, hey there aren't too many Binghams around, eh?
D.J.B.
Dave Bingham true. you guys were great. that token hippie 54 site is awesome-hes got everything. my bro paul clark went to malvern collegiate and he was right into the yorkville scene-especially the shays and mandala. have a good day, eh.
Did not 1 or 2 of the Duck,s go to C C I in the late 60's....???
Four "DUCKS" went to Cedarbrae! The only member that didn't was Robin Boers, our drummer - who went to "West Hill"!
D.J.B.
