Great video Matt. I didn't play baseball at a high level like you but as a pitcher, I always loved facing guys who would work the count and never swing at the first pitch. I can get a 0-2 count from the 1st pitch strike and just toy with the batter
I think Matt is correct. To work the count is the means not the ends. The end game is to get a pitch to drive, a hitter works the count to increase his likelihood to get that pitch.
Every time I get up to the plate I'm looking for that first pitch strike, not expecting it but looking for it. I attack the pitches. I tell my teammates to jump on good pitches and to not give the pitcher a chance at getting you out.
Is there any advantage to working the count to wear out the pitcher? It seems to me, especially when facing a dominant pitcher, that if a team is able to make the pitcher throw 20+ pitches in an inning it is a good inning whether the team scores or not.
Wick Renner If the pitcher is doing that well and you guys just can't put the ball in play, then yes, that is a very good strategy. The more tired he gets, the more likely he will be to make a mistake and give you something you want to hit. If you force 20 pitches an inning, that pitcher will end up throwing 100 pitches in 5 innings. If you keep your defence solid throughout those 5 innings, you can rally back against them in the last few innings and win. The only time I wouldn't force his pitch count is when they score a decent amount of runs in the first few innings. At that point, it's too late for a late game comeback
Hi sir, I am from India and I am 20 years old. I want to be a baseball pitcher but there is no opportunity in india so I request you. Please help me. I throw very quickly.. I throw the ball 105 mph continuously..
My favorite games are pitching duels. I love a good ole' 1-0 game.
Chuck Keough especially with National League rules.

What is it like to have a really late game then traveling to another city over night? Does it effect sleep schedules/ performance?

Can you make a video on how split squads and traveling in spring training work? Thanks.
Do you believe in looking for your perfect pitch 3-0 or auto taking?

its been shown that a lot of the time 0-0 is the best pitch to hit
Kulvis Flabu I literally ALWAYS look for that first pitch. 7/10 it is a fastball in the zone
First!
