Manusmriti Rules Regarding Menstruation Are NO LONGER Applicable
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 жов 2024
- This video discusses how:
1. The laws of the Manusmriti which describe Menstruation as a sutak, or a period of impurity, are no longer applicable in modern times.
2. Manusmriti being a Smriti contains many temporary laws which are valid ONLY for certain times and under certain conditions. When these times & conditions change these laws become obsolete and are to be given up. Only then can Hindu society progress. Otherwise it will regress.
3. We must remember that EVERY custom practiced in the past cannot be blindly imported into the present. Blindly enforcing the custom of “not visiting temples during periods / not doing puja during menstruation” harms Hinduism tremendously as it damages Hindu women's self-esteem and pushes several of them towards Atheism.

In my experience, menstruation is a very auspicious time for spiritual practice - fasting, meditation, prayer, and rest. During my cycle, my hunger naturally shuts off for the first couple of days so I generally fast for 2 days. I also feel tired and need to rest and stay home. And most importantly, my mind is naturally turned more inward, so I prefer to meditate rather than go out.
Beautiful.! From our childhood I have seen my father opposing this menstrual custom. He was humiliated by the people, I was assessed too. But later I understood his advance mindset. Love u deta.. ( from Assam).
Wow! God bless your father! Wish all had such broad minded and rational fathers!
Who are men to make rules for women?
Thanks Pulkit , i am also trying to eradicate this customs by my blog ,last month i have published article on Women and Menstruation and why the women were not allowed in temples ,i have written big article on this topic along with my collegaue Pratima ji .Hope we all grow and help each other.

You only think about your own growth not our. We are independent and grow individually. Never ever try to touch our customs with your dirty hands. Our customs are our rights and we will never leave it. You want to replace our customs with your non- sense ideas? That's never going to happen. We are born free and live free. Not under your help. Take your bullshit ideas and get lost. Every time we have a choice between your stupid mission and our customs we will always select our customs. We will compromise our independence with anything. Neither we need your help nor we will help. You want to help people then eradicate something else. Don't even try to look at our customs. No means no.

CASTE SYSTEM has the same issue in hinduism that's why unfortunately india is not becoming the superpower in the world.
Lol. Caste system was in India since vedic times and that was golden period of India. Which economics you study I don't understand.
Caste system should be there but on the basis of profession not on the basis of birth...also i believe a person becomes lower caste by his karma not by birth
@@arpitaroy5482 believe it. Who cares? We don't need your recognition to be a brahman. I have become brahman after upnayan sanskar. Your consideration doesn't matter.
@@justabir4182 dear...so according to your claim..i can also say that i have become a brahman...my upanayan was held 6 yrs ago...but I'm not like u

Mam why we not pray and worship during the period called 'sutka' that is some days after a person dies depending of his relationship to us ? please can make a video on this too
you can pray
if i don't get chance to go temple
i meditate on his name
If possible please reply: What to do if women themselves are so deeply convinced that Menstrual Untouchability Custom is extremely true and have unimaginably extreme determination to uphold to it no matter even if she dies? I am talking about my mother. I have done everything to explain her and the matter only got worsened.
I can understand 🙏
Same stuff here
Guess what
She will never change
At this point idc
I will stop following it the moment i step out of my house
Do the same
Break the cycle, spare future generations from this BS
No where it is written for ladies not to go temple during periods. Also at that time people were vedic and so no any temple or idol worshipping was there.. And if you have pain why should you do all works? In this day u have the right of not to do any work including making ur own food. And also during periods immunity gets reduced hence in society there are chances of getting germs and other bacteria by any other human body. And hence in this time u got a chance of not doing anything and just focus on youself and worshipping god may be Doing hawan, Reading shastra, Chanting mantras ,learning dharma, enjoyments (Entertainment) etc can be done...
Today ladies are doctors, surgeons, pilots, defense personnel. they even won medals in the Olympics. Our bodies are not so weak during periods that we cant do other tasks. So certainly there should be no problem for women to go to temples too during periods. Women work through bodily pain as you can see in your own mother's life. They are very strong and not weak. Every Mother is a testament to this. Support your Mother's right to visit temples whenever she wants. Respect your Mother always.
Mam you are just speaking about the restrictions against women in the time of periods do you know one thing when i used to watch ISKCON videos I felt very disturbed because they are putting down the status of women so down that they that women should not be given indipendent and she can't be guru/she is not suppose to take sanyasa deeksha. by listining to this things i felt I should live hinduism and I should get converted to other religion
Its a pity if they are doing so. However you must listen to only that which is RIGHT. No need to follow wrong teachings. Reject them firmly. Many people colour spiritual things by their own deep seated prejudices. Soul is sexless. Follow advaita vedanta and know that women can take sannyas and attain to god realization too. Sarada ma was a woman, so was mother mirra (sri aurobindo ashram). Swami Vivekananda gave deeksha to sister nivedita who was a female monk of ramakrishna mission.
@@Spiritualbee thank you mam
@@Spiritualbee Yes mam but this people say that this is said in manusmriti unfortunetly many hindus are following ISKCON
@@sanjanah.b3995 manusmriti is a secondary text and its injunctions are valid only for certain times. In today's time it is obsolete. So we dont need to follow it. This has been said by swami Vivekananda himself. Watch my video on Manusmriti
ua-cam.com/video/g_A-pgHyi1o/v-deo.html
Dont worry about others and what iskcon ites are saying. In time they will correct their mistakes as the coming era is of women empowerment. Women will naturally reject wrong teachings.
(It is pity though that they are saying such things)
@@Spiritualbee Thank you for the information
I also agree that certain humiliation happened ( still happening) to women during that period. Entering houses is certainly needed in this modern era (depends on situation). But entering temples is certainly needs to be avoided as we don't fully understand science and technology behind Indian temples. I don't understand how you come to quick conclusion that temple energies can not be effected negatively on either idol or the women during mensuration period. I will certainty avoid going to temples during my periods. Instead I prefer to do meditation at that time.
This channel certainly appears to be backed by Communists who are loosing their hold for being anti Hindu... Now they are directly targeting the customs trying to prove that is against core Hindu ideas.
I completely agree with you that the science behind the temples is not fully known or understood... Drawing conclusions that women can enter the temples because of pads or tampons is too primitive thinking..
@@fact5832 Dear “fact”. If you research more, according to the late Jay Lakhani, Hinduism tutor at the Eton College.
Discussed the evolving of time and circumstances we live in. Example, the time when women were not suppose to enter temples nor kitchens was because they had no sanitary items, women bled naturally. These days women can attend temples and kitchens. We adapt the teachings as we adapt laws according to todays society. 🙏🏽
Hinduism is democratic.
@@briechilli4496 hello Brie, thanks for the comment...
While you have rightly pointed to the fact that traditions change with time, you missed out another fact that science doesn't....
To know the basics of science behind Hindu temples I would suggest you to go through the below videos
ua-cam.com/video/30K7xvuRhvU/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/e0ddBT4nM8E/v-deo.html
Further, regarding kitchen we must not miss the fact that Indian homes/houses are built as per Vastu Shastra. The kitchen is placed in a particular position called as Agni muule(Agni=fire, muule=corner). It is that spot where the impact of heat is highest. So during periods if women enter kitchen the pitta(bodily heat) will increase which can result in excess bleeding. Even food items like spices which increases pitta are avoided during periods...
@@fact5832 Thank you for your response 🙏🏽
Didi, a hindi version of this video and the one with Ramana Maharshi & Suri Nagamma, would be great. I want to share this with the mad ladies in my world. They are really hostile in their attitude towards menstruation. Thank you. I'll share this with others who understand English.
Blessed to found this YT channel.🙏🏻
Beautiful, I’m inspired. Thank you for this.
May be the portions of Manusmriti which says that Women are impure in periods are prakshipta portions? Who knows??
Manusmriti was written to save Hinduism from Buddhism. It saved Hinduism in its difficult time. But it's totally irrelevant now. 🙏
Who told you? You don't find relevance but not all. You don't want to follow then but lecture on behalf of every one. Nearly every scripture went some changes for the time like manusmriti but it's still relevant to us. You don't have the right to say on behalf of use. Never.
Swami Vivekananda told it.
Book reference "Swami Vivekananda : Sankshipt Parichay aur Updesh".
In last chapter of this book, it is given.
Go and read dear Bramhin. 😏🙄🙄
@@kamleshraghuwanshi4634 Swami vivekanand only put his opinion. It's an option not compulsory. Like every tradition of Hinduism accepting and not accepting is depending on the individual. There is alternative for everything. Perhaps you don't belong to brahmin so you are jealous of us.

In fact I'm ashamed that people like you still exist in Hinduism. 🤔😓😓😓
@@kamleshraghuwanshi4634 I don't give a shit on your shame. A stupid can only think that Hinduism is ruined. Entire Hinduism was made by brahmin. But ungrateful people will always bark like non sense. Just by reading some books you think you gained knowledge. To gain knowledge one must go under thinking process. The people like you who think that texts are by paas of mind.
Ma'am can you please make a video to explain different yugas and their duration according to vedantic texts.
excellent clear explanation!
Nice video, pulikt dd. Can you please make a video on how Hinduism says everything is one, there is no discrimination between male and female whatsoever and patriarchy is just how the family were run at that time not something that has to be followed not a theory based on Hinduism
Better question is why will you want to go to a temple when ur bleeding??
Ah yes...women can bleed during child birth, they can feed their family, go to work, save lives as doctors especially during COVID, protect the nation as policewomen, soldiers and fighter pilots all while "bleeding"...but they can't go to temple while bleeding. Wow!
Also god does not reside just in a temple. If you had read the vedas, upanishads and gita you would know that God is present in the soul of each and every patient whom a lady doctor treats while on her periods. "Matra pitra devo bhava" - every woman while "bleeding" serves her inlaws and parents in whom god dwells. So pls correct your understanding of hinduism and stop supporting regressive social customs.

My dear sister Pulkit, @ 9:50 please help such ignorant women who don't understand Hinduism is by far my knowledge best religion in the world. Islam have historically oppressed woman right from their birth while Christianity has lost its traditions and customs due to excessive liberalism.
That's right but we cannot call her "ignorant" and insult her. She's reacting our of her own circumstances.
Most of the rules are inapplicable and some are cruel. Who wrote such barbaric rules?. Are they really Brahmans? Are they really humans?
Many distortions have also crept into the original Manusmriti. Some in the priestly class have inserted their own ideas. So that is why we find contradictory teachings in the Manusmriti, which are hard to reconcile.
Yes we are really brahmin and human as well. If you find us cruel then follow some else.

Dear Pulkit and Dear Friends : While I agree that this menstrual untouchability is a thing of past, Pulkit ji has not mentioned about the physical problems that women face during menstrual times. From what I understand through scripts or renowned discourses, women were given complete rest for those 3 days to overcome their physical pain. The pain intensity might differ from person to person, but this is the main aim and NOT ban them from anything during their periods. This is what I understand, think and believe are correct. Pl forgive me if I misrepresented anything.
