Lewis Hamilton is head and shoulders the UK's greatest sports person. What he's achieved is unbelievable and I wouldn't be surprised if he does win another title with Ferrari. Just watch the British GP not only for his skill and talent but his passion to win. Nothing but respect.

I'd say Andy Murray is, just on the fact, he worked harder in his sport and was a one man team, he was one of the best tennis players in the world for 9 consecutive years, he was an absolute machine.
No disrespect towards Lewis, he's an awesome athlete, but like football, he's in a team sport, were the richest teams get to win.
From an athletic and fitness prospective, Andy definitely goes down as Britain's best athlete.

Agree about Hamilton. Every other champion and contenders come from millionaire families and many had multi millionaire F1 fathers...
Then you get s kid from Stevenage, divorced parents, second hand kart strapped to roof of a Cavalier, black father, white mother, disabled brother....wins that much McClaren takes notice, he wins on karts so much his records still stand. Then he smashes it in F3 and F2, gets robbed due to his teammate Alonso and FIA in his debut season, wins it year after...Goes to Mercedes and turns form book on head before rule changes saw him dominating year after year WHILST also putting F1 on front pages, great with fans, team owrson through snd through....list his head post George Floyd but so many bi racial types did.

Andy Murray is a fitness fanatic, and he was one of the best tennis players in the world for 9 consecutive years, he's a 2x Olympic champion, 14 time masters winner, 3x grand slam champion, Davis cup winner, over 40 titles in total, and he was a real athlete, a propa cardio freak.
Andy worked harder in his sport then Lewis did in F1, I love Lewis but he had it easier.

Murray, for me. Tennis is one of the most gruelling sports, and it's played by nearly every country in the world. He also played in the strongest ever era of men's tennis, and still came away with three grand slams, 14 masters 1000s, two Olympic gold medals, and a Davies Cup.
I see some people picking Ronnie O' Sullivan, but Britain has always dominated snooker - it's not exactly a global sport.

Hamilton can't be considered as 50 to 60% of that sport and any achievements that come with it is because of having the best car whereas Andy Murray alone on the tennis court with nothing but a racket in his hand, seriously

Yeah, Andy's life is in danger with every swing of his bat in every match. His neck could break with every swing if he doesn't train it constantly. He also needs to apply 250kg's of pressure to swing his bat just so he doesn't die tragically. He also can barely see laying flat with a helmet on, as he swings his bat in extreme heat most of the time, so he has to make calculated guesses on precise movements and turns, as he swings his bat😂

@sibiyu67 from a competitor point of view, Lewis had it easier in F1 then Andy did in tennis. Both athletes work equally as hard, can't take one from the other, but Murray never competed in a sport that's Pay-2-Win.
Once murray made it as a professional, it was all on him to get better and compete against the best, while Lewis literally had the best car from day one. Lewis was an inexperienced F1 driver beating everyone, wining the championship in only his 2nd year.
It's motor racing. The team and car is just as important as the driver. Great achievement but nowhere near the same individual skill required as many other sports. Steve Redgrave immediately springs to mind a a far greater level of individual achievement.
When evaluating how great someone is at sport I couldn't give a f*ck about their personality. There are many "nice" sportsmen who never come close to the GOAT debate. Hamilton is not head and shoulders above, but he is the best.

Lewis Hamilton sits in a giant computer and shouldn't even make it into the top 10 let alone the goat. Nigel mansell, moss, Graham Hill. Hamilton shouldn't even be mentioned in the same conversation as them three drivers.

Although, Jim Clark would have won in the McClaren, Mercedes ir Red Bull if whatever generation. Mansel was super brave, he's no Hamilton or Clark but he'd have won races too. Moss? Different breed but, again, hard to see him dominating F1 but he'd have been Norris like.

@@eriksonmendes3785 these cars are not racing cars. They can't even be started without a team of 20 engineers. Modern cars are all about technology. The drivers I mentioned were racing drivers. Their lives were on the line in every race. These cars can't even overtake unless they are in the Drs zone. That isn't racing. It's like I said, a giant computer. Go and look at some of the races from the 70s through to the 90s. For me that's when F1 died.
