I have never witnessed such a domination in a race with same spec cars. This guy is truly gifted.
He is an incredible driver, and whatever people say, he surely deserves what he achieved. The fact that the only ones to have had performances that dominant in spec-cars are Schumi, Leclerc and Hamilton says a lot
I bet he will be a multiple wdc, i reckon he may even surpass michael one day too
@@mytester6208 I recon you are rather right my friend.
Leclerc has done something similar too if I'm not wrong. But yeah, really really gifted
@@stefcamp didn’t leclerc do it in f2? When he went from p14 to p1 in a sprint race. If that’s what you’re talking about then yes.
As amazing a drive that was from Hamilton, can we take a moment to appreciate Timo Glocks impressive Defensive work?
Jamie House I S T H A T G L O C K
Glock deserved a more successful career in F1, at the very least he deserved more time.
Yeah pretty annoying, he was that good.
Agree! His nickname was GlockDog, you can guess why.. Superb defensive skill!
Was that glock?
Considering that GP2/formula 2 cars are all equal, shows to all Hamilton haters that Lewis really DOES have immense talent behind the wheel. A comeback like this in GP2 just wasnt meant to happen back in the day, and he still did it
This was with different drivers to now and plus this is a different type of car
@@41g28 yes the cars were different types, but they were all still equal
@@example2844 doesn’t matter. It’s like saying I drove and SUV and won I’m the best driver. Different car types.
@@41g28 it's really not though, if all the cars are equal and you're a comeback like that, you have plenty of skill. If you are comparing an SUV to these cars, then I can't even take you seriously
I read somewhere in the comments he told his mechanics to clips the wings or something, they called him mad but he proved them wrong in race .He did have better brains
It’s a tradition to come back an watch this video every once in a while. 🥰
I know, I am Lewis fan boy since 2006. During 2006 there was like a lot of talk about him.
Me too
To think that this is where he would win his 7th title is mindblowing
in an equally amazing performance too,
@@TheTororist yea, rewatched the onboard recently. insane consistency
With equal machinery, Hamilton proved to the world that he is one of the best drivers
Legendary drive from Lewis.
Harry The Cat Indeed :]
People who diss Hamilton because of his Merc needs to see his pre-F1 career. Starting from Karting. What a driver.
Legend has it people still saying its the car🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hamilton hater: easy for him he has a Mercedes, oh wait
ahahahaha
HA HA HA HA SO ORIGINAL HA HA...
All of drivers using DALLARA cars, right? Don't skip that fact also. F2 or GP2 cars is DIFFERENT with F1's car. So, you can not compare it.
Anyway, he won in ART Grand Prix squad, a French Automobile squad that built and owned by Frédéric Vasseur and Nicolas Todt (his father is FIA President, Jean Todt and manager of Charles Leclerc). They built it in Winter time between 2004-2005. In 2005, Nico Rosberg win the GP2 championship with ART GP, and Lewis Hamilton win GP2 championship with ART GP in 2006. This tim winning 8 titles in GP3 since 2010. This team is one of the TOUGHEST team in F2 and F3. So, still NOT underdog team, right? Who is his tough rival in 2006? Piquet Jr. They both winning 4 races, Lewis winning just by 12 points more than Piquet Jr. And his team, Piquet Sport. In this case, Lewis and Piquet Jr are the GREATEST racers in that session.
Are you blind? Did you realize his car is faster than everyone else’s
1 more lap and he'd have won it
RobM if he would’ve got by Glock sooner than what he did he could’ve won it
Just like spa 2019
Class driver.... People who dislike him and come out with the Mercedes card, they wasn't winning when he went to them...
@@spitfire451 I thought he'd thrown away his career moving to Merc in 2013
@@AlonsoRules Same here... I couldn't believe he was turning his back on McLaren. What little did we know???? So looking forward to the 2020 season to finally start. I really think by 2023 Lewis shall be the highest world championships than anyone else.... Take care... Crazy days.....
From this point in 2006 I got a fan of Lewis. It's incredible that now it's about to take his 7th WC, what a legend.
And THAT ladies and gentlemen is why LEWIS is the best British Motor Racing Driver of all time.
Jim Gardner quicker car too though 😶
Chris Flux I can smell the salty Ferrari tears
Joel Rinne Not my tears mate. Like Hamilton actually but give them all same cars and see who’s best 👍🏻
Chris Flux Well, Gp2 is a one-make championship. Or are you reffering to his f1 career?
Wow he beat a bunch of formula e drivers with a better car. Give him a cookie.
Watching this after he got his 7th world championship is somehow all the sweeter. All that hard work, all the hype, really paid off. Amazing driver.
This is what we usually see in movies, Lewis is a 🐐 👏👏👏.
Lewis was always destined for greatness, yes he got straight into a winning car but he almost won the title on the first attempt!
He would have over performed in any of the cars on the grid in 07
LH44 ❤️
🎯🎯🎯
Against a The Double-World Champion Alonso 🏆 who had dethroned the Great Schumacher!👍
What a driver...... He's the best driver to grace modern F1.. brilliant....... I wish the haters watch this..... You cannot say this young man even back then was world-class.......
Robert Thomas spot on Robert, so many people have never driven a car in anger think they know what they are on about.
The cream rises to the top.
Hats off Lewis.
So underrated but he's definitely going to be in the history books
istanbul great power circuit, Lewis drove his heart out that race... you could see a future mega star right there in that race...
Respect the King. #44.
Pure racer! Commentator jizzed about 15 times there
Sir Lewis Hamilton now.
I had been following the progress of GP2 that year, despite leading the championship and had impressive results already, it was this performance that convinced me that he was ready for F1. Of course, nobody outside of McLaren anticipated that he would, fresh from securing the championship in GP2, jump straight into one of the top cars in F1 as the rookie team mate to the then reigning double world champion, Fernando Alonso. The rest is history as they say
This is the race that turned me into a HAM FAN, can’t believe it’s already 11 years ago
desertpenguin Yes me too. Time flies :[
Good times before f1 lost its spirit
Also for me. I saw this on replay on BBC sport news very shortly. 2007 I was following Hamilton religiously. I get big satisfaction that Hamilton destroyed Piquet Jr career. Cause his dad is talking shit about Hamilton, especially now his daughter is the girlfriend of Max Verstappen.
@@e.abrahamovich8981 haha man hates Lewis with every atom of his body cause he whooped piquet JR
@@dbabu51 Honestly Piquet Sr. is a bitter little man, cause money doesn’t buy you talent. He son was good driver but in era of Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel his talent or his daddy’s money was not enough. Piquet Sr. probably knew about the deal between his son and Flavio Briatore.
2005 F3 Champion.
2006 GP2 Champion.
2007 F1 2nd place. (Should have been champion)
2008 F1 Champion.
Had he not made that mistake in China he would've easily won 2007 championship
@@Themayseffect Hamilton was still leading the championship after China.
It was the bizzare gearbox issue in Brazil that ultimately stopped Hamilton winning the title, in the title deciding race.
@@MT-pv2rf he scored no points in China, had he even finished somewhere in the top 5 he probably would've won the championship.
@@Themayseffect Probably? He definitely would have won the title without McLaren making the most imbecilic call in F1 history that race.
But there's more than just China, mate. There are a few 'what if' scenarios for all the title contenders in 2007 so its a little bit silly to just pinpoint one incident in a specific race.
And my point still stands. China was not a championship ending incident for Hamilton because he had a big enough lead with 2 races to go to have a DNF in China and still lead the championship going into Brazil, which he did.
That's why, technically, the gearbox issue in Brazil is what ultimately ended up stopping Hamilton from winning the title, in the title deciding race
@@MT-pv2rf not really, the commentators even noted during the race if he'd finished 3rd or higher he'd be the champion. So it really is down to that 1 race. Not to mention he was the only driver that season to podium the first 9 races.
From that day since now he's the fastest driver on this era i believe that
This guy has potential!!
Lewis Hamilton the greatest of all time.
Hamilton ist fahrerisch echt Weltklasse. Hat man damals schon gesehen. Alles gewonnen was es zu gewinnen gab! Formel Renault Meister, Formel 3 Meister, GP2 Meister und heute 7x Formel 1 Weltmeister mit zwei verschiedenen Teams.
GET IN THERE LEWIS AWESOME DRIVING MATE
"oh oh... but but its the car he has always had the fastest car". gtfo this guy has always been good.
😂
so impressed
my opinion of glock has completely changed, easily the only driver on the grid that was capable of holding lewis and when you consider he had been holding piquet before that and than held back both of them for a long time, brilliant defensive performance.
if his qualifying and attack were as ferocious, we would be hearing about him in f1 right now, maybe as a champ.
King of late break
So why does everyone keep saying its only coz he jas the best car? This guy has been amazing for a very very long time
He wad in one of best team at gp2
@@kubhak Ha Ha they all had the same car
@@kubhak lmao learn history mate
@@kubhak clown
@@thesunandrews4527 I agree that you can't really compare different teams in GP2 like you can in F1. However, some teams are better than others in these feeder series because of better mechanics, thus better tunes, better strategies, and a lot of other factors that make them more competitive. You can tell it's not all the same when you look at teams like ART and Prema today in F2 and F3. They dominate pretty much over every other team. So it's not all the same.
14 years later, F1 returns to Turkey.
This why Lewis Hamilton is the undisputed GOAT.
Ah the good old days. Eurosport showing gp2 and Porsche supercup Sunday mornings before the F1 race which was live on itv1. Then in the afternoon bsb, wsb, and Moto gp all live on Eurosport. Then to top it off live champ cars Sunday nite with Ben edwards commentating
Stunning drive.
Lewis was a damn fighter from a young age. His mental is so strong. No wonder he is nearing 40 and still so fricking competitive. And of course he just so talented. I can easily recognise him, he is always been smooth and clean.
Goddamn !! I am breathless here watching this for the first time.
who is here after he won his 7th world title?
I see a lot of potential with this guy
Fact: Haters will ignore this video
I think this race shows why he went straight to McLaren. It would have been a waste of talent in a lower team, even in his first year
The F1 drivers were watching this, lol. Schumi commented about it
@@Shadowboost what does Schumi said?
@@jwork5680 just go on UA-cam and search Schumacher Hamilton Istanbul
This is what im talking about. The entertainment and close proximity racing is what current #F1 is lacking. More of this please
This video also proves what a fine talent timo glock was! Great defending skills!
shades of Senna in F3!!!
Everyone knew he was going into F1.....This race only served to confirm it.
Every time I watch this race it fills me with excitement and pride it never fails. Lewis has demonstrated throughout his racing career that he is the greatest the man to beat and there is more to come.
I would love to see a 21yr old Lewis Hamilton versus the latest F1 young guns: Verstappen, LeClerc, Norris, Russell, etc. Lewis would mop the track with them!
He will eat them all. Bottas isn't mediocre. Bottas destroyed Massa - Shumacher former teammate and Rosberg destroyed Shumacher. Schumacher shouldn't lost his speed by mile IF he is that GREAT.
The current second best (Rosberg) is leaving F1 already. He is the man who have longest career competing with Lewis Go-kart to F1.
Hammer Time !!!!!!!
THAT-IS-FUCKING-POETRY. Pure driving skill, ecstatic level...
How To Get Into F1 the proper way and most difficult way by a GOAT Drive 🐐
Yet people call him not a good racer and its all the car? hahaha this is why seb and bottas and nico rosberg are nothing compared lol he is just the best end of.
jjfreer Vettel has 4 titles aswell
Vettel is pretty damn good and will always give Hamilton a run for his money, and this is coming from a huge Hamilton fan. Four time world champion Vettel definitely deserves some respect.
Well mercedes is the best car, if seb had the same car he would beat him.
@Samanthaflower he only spun twice this season.
Vettel won with a Toro Rosso.......
This was the reason why Hamilton got McLaren drive in 2007
Haters continue to hate. Lew lew at his ULTIMATE best
ABSOLUTELY smashed it
What a fenomenal drive. amazing
,
This is why Lewis Hamilton is the best Supreme Racing driver in the world. He’s beaten all from age 6 to date 2017
IS THAT GLOCK?
No, it´s Glock.
I think he meant as in the commentary in the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix where Hamilton overtook glow on the last corner of the race to beat mass to the title. the commentator at the time said "is that glock?"
cameron yup
Because those three words define one of the greatest climaxes to a motor racing season that you will ever see!
Glock is his budie
What a champion
Respect! HAM is really the man! Best car or not! This video just shows how great a legend he is!
Apparently, this guy looks pretty successful. Maybe he’ll be able to match Michael Schumacher that would be incredible. He does have potential.
Holy sh** that was insane. Edge of seat and heart pumping stuff!
Congrats "LH 44" 5 time DWC, big up Lewis!
7 time champion now! Going for the record-breaking #8! :D
I think this Lewis guy might win a few F1 championships
I think maybe 7
So funny after Interlagos, haters that know nothing about the sport saying that he couldn't do the same in F2. lol
this is a master piece
What a track Istanbul is!! Bring it back
legend
Wow the on board footage was amazing, hamilton was on fire that day.
4 time world champ, and it shows.
inching closer to 5
@@AlonsoRules hes 5 time world champion now
@@Guesty13 with a 6th very likely

Amazing drive Lewis!!!
Incredible driving from Hamilton there, along with a very strong car, & u get 1 of the best drives u will ever see.
Breath taking race. OMG. Lewis H one of his kind. Best racing driver.
Istanbul. The place of great comebacks
He will definatly get into formula 1
Lewis Hamilton won 6 different karting tournaments also won
2005 Masters of f3
2005 F3 euro series
2006 GP2 series
Yet people wonder how he got a seat in McLaren in his debut year man that resume is so strong why would mclaren not take him
Was there Formula 4 back then?
Now he have 6 titles
Phenomenal 🔥👑
Thanks mate!
Damn... Piquet was all the race in 5th... Hamilton spins to 18th and ends up second lol. Just shows how average Piquet was.
Piquet had to crash on purpose to keep his drive in F1, which he lost anyway.
Glock and Piquet both earned their seats in F1 being highly competitive in GP2 (the fastest open wheel spec series). They are in the top 5% of racing drivers in the world. The difference is Hamilton is possibly the greatest racer of all time, and this is one of the best performances of his career.
AH has the same Hunger to win 🏆 in 2019 as he had right at the beginning of his racing career. Awesome driving. GD, Yorkshire,UK
Best driver of all time !!!!!
Remember watching this & the Silverstone race live, I’ll never forget them. He was a different league. I’ve said it before but this is why I don’t want DRS anywhere near racing. It makes overtaking too easy. Takes away any ability to defend, takes away the excitement
Yeah… I quit watching f1 after drs…just damn boring
0:57 this is probably the most scariest shit ive seen him do
Nah he skydives for fun… that’s more scarier
Il più forte della storia, punto.
Goat
The man's a legend
These GP 2 cars back in 2006 looked nice
this era of F1 looks lit, why can't we go back to this, so much to watch
bredan oshea this is the feeder series to f1. Its basically division 2. The reason the racing is better is because cars in lower series don't have all the complicated technology and aero dependence that f1 has.
Anyway, this is the drive that won Hamilton his 2007 McLaren seat in f1.
M T they still have big aero reliance though, but better racing because the cars are far slower
If only F1 now was like those GP2 days
amazing
This is what F1 should be like. That was an exciting race.
When, "Get in their Lewis", would not have been redundant, but profoundly and arrantly for intents and purposes deserves.
As someone who is not Lewis' biggest fan, I applaud him for this, sick driving, back when he had something to prove.
Ok that was exciting!!!
GP 2 looks awesome
Fast forward to 2020 and he's a 7 times WDC
The GOAT !
Wow just WOW
