I have tried to finish this process however once I have the game downloaded and I am trying to change the game file it will not allow me and continues to say I need permission from the administrator.... which I am... I'm confused if I may have downloaded it incorrectly or what?

Yes, you should just create a 3rd drive in this instance. However, Stay Tuned for Danger doesn't actually need the same convoluted steps like for SCK! hey there, i think i left a comment on a different video but i can’t find it now? i’m wondering if you can help me. I can’t get older games to play, they are super zoomed in and crash with an error along the lines of “rectangle invalid” this error only started happening after I downloaded stay tuned for danger under her Interactive‘s website. The only solution I have is to go into the compatability section and disable high DPI settings. id ideally like to have my graphics back to normal so i don’t have to do this with all the older games. i tried uninstalling stay tuned for danger and even completely deleted my partition (i have windows 10 on boot camp on a macbook) and reinstalled but it’s not changed

I followed some instructions and there was some odd customized display setting turned on. No idea how it came on, but once turning it off, all my games are running smoothly now!
Would be cool if you showed off the no CD patch, makes it a lot easier for repeated play. Might be a cool idea for a future video, many ND games benefit from it
@@NancyDrewWalkthroughs There's patches for all disc required ND games that allows you to play them without the disc (or loading disc images using something like poweriso or daemon tools). It involves moving files from the disc to the game directory and replacing the game exe with one modified to read those files. It's much easier than managing ISOs when you want to play a different disc required ND game. They're easy to find with a google search.
Oh I see! For games 2-15, I made a tutorial that shows that you can just copy the disc’s files directly from your computer, then install and play from there without any patches at all. Cool to know someone’s done patches for all the games!
Will this work with any game? I’m having trouble getting the older games to work on my computer. I tried to install game 13 on my computer and that didn’t work.

It’ll depend on your computer. If you’ve got a 32-bit computer, then you’ll want to install that version. Otherwise, the 64-bit version will do just fine!
Hey! I'm loving this so far, but I've run into a snag. I make it about 84% of the way through the transition to ISO disk, and then I get an alert message that says, "the trial version can only create or edit the image file which does not exceed the size of 300MB. To remove this limitation please register." I was following verbatim before this issue. Thoughts?

It will probably make things a bit easier. However, if you'd rather not do that, you may need to find another registration code and see if that works for PowerISO. I seem to recall having a similar issue in the past and had to re-install PowerISO and use a different registration key. Let me know!

Totally! When HeR Interactive released McKenzie & Co. in 1995 and the add-on in 1996, the game totaled 8 discs! It's amazing how older games simply needed so much space!
I think they knew what they were doing! They just may not have had good enough tech for it or if they did, it may have cost too much. McKenzie & Co. released for $60 USD at the time, which is super expensive considering what the game included. If it cost them more to make, they would've had to charge more which might have meant the game may not have been as successful!

Hey Jenna! To download from the Internet Archive, you can click on the little blue download icon beside the file name as seen on-screen at 1:57. That should initiate the download of the ISO files! Once they've downloaded, start the video at 4:20 and follow the steps from there! Let me know if you run into anymore issues!

Hey Ariel! Did you properly setup the drives to mount the ISO files to? If so, did you mount the correct ISO to the correct drive as you wrote in the configuration settings? All those need to line up with what has been done on your computer. Hey Ariel, I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you! That's really interesting... The fact that the game is running with disc 1 means it knows where to find the first disc, but clearly it's having an issue finding disc 2. My only suggestion would be to triple check that the place you mounted the disc as well as the disc location in the config settings match. I'm sure you've done that, but sometimes PowerISO will change the name of the mounted drive and that could cause problems. Let me know if you make any more progress!
Where am I allowed to put the SCK and Secrets Can Kill folders? I put them in "Desktop" and they automatically showed up on my desktop with an icon and everything. Is there a way to hide them so I don't have to look at them all the time?

Hmm, and you're following the steps just like I show in the video? There's a button that says "Mount" and if you click that, then a drop-down menu will show up. One of the options is "Set number of drives". If you click that, then select 2, it should automatically setup the drives. If that doesn't work, let me know!

@@NancyDrewWalkthroughs it's when I'm trying to save it. I'm the administrator on the computer. But as it turns out, it doesn't matter. You can alt+tab out of the game when you're supposed to change discs and just mount the other disc to the drive, since by default the drives it looks for disc 1 and disc 2 are the same
Interesting. And you are trying to edit the right text file? Sometimes there are two versions that can be found, one in Documents and one where you installed the game. The one in Documents (or wherever else you find it) is the correct one to edit.
@Nancy Drew Walkthroughs I think it's the right file, but I didn't know that it could be found in 2 locations. I told it to install in a folder under Program Files, and then I clicked "open file location" on the shortcut like you did, and tried to edit the game file there. Interestingly, my file is game, not Game. I don't know if that means anything or that's just because of computer settings

I tried this, but it is still giving me fits. I do know how to use ISO files and can even mount them on Win11 without PowerISO. (I played STFD without a hiccup.) But I installed PowerISO anyway so that I could follow all the directions step by step to the letter. And it's STILL giving me the same issue that it did without PowerISO. I can mount my ISO files, ripped from my original discs. I can install the game. I can run the game. But, just like playing 25 years ago, when I switch to the school it still asks for Disc 2. And clicking okay does absolutely nothing. I edited the ini file to read the correct drives, just like I was supposed to. Why doesn't it work? I'm so frustrated. And sad.

The best way would be to try and install the game to another folder clear of view, or to try and put the folders in another folder!
