You can use gateway to port back and forth and new spawns will appear. no need to load a save game again
For anyone watching this for the Remastered version: 1.You can use gateway twice to respawn mobs
2. Use a familiar with Yo-hoo and cast it at start so the toko/tokotokos dont run away immediately (Bighorn/Monolith)
3. There is a spell called Veil you can get after solving the riddles from Horace in EVERY city - If you cast it overworld you get invisible - meaning you always get firststrike and they dont run away when getting near them
And i personally preffer South Billy Goat's Bluff where you can find Tokotokos which yield like 8000 exp per tokotoko and sometimes you get two in a single fight, just travel to perdida, run through Billy Goat's Bluff all the way to the end, in case you don't find them just travel back to Perdida and repeat, it's way way faster to level up there.
Actually you get veil in perdida after solving it everywhere else
what level should i go there? i'm level 35 now

Thats so cool you play with your son. And yes yall this is such a great GREAT game. For the visuals if nothing else but the gameplay (combat/familiar care) is addicting. Kicking myself for not getting to it sooner.
Earsplitter is your friend. I just waited until I caught Dinoceros to do this.
I waited until I got Tengri and farmed Tokos from The Billy Goat Gruff area outside of Perdida.
4:57 he kind of reminds me of thoses things from "My Neighbor Totoro"

very helpful guide. thank you. I am 55 hours in to the game and haven't faced off with a Toko successfully yet, so i didn't know that they were that great for leveling. I know what i'm doing when i get home tonight. lol.
I finally got face a Toko at the last dungeon. 55 hours. I believe you. Took me awhile to encounter one. My first one was about the same time lol

This is such an awesome way to lvl up. I captured 2 toko's today. Also there is a chance thag a toko appears on the regular battles in that island

I wana try this and a tip for anyone else in my case.
There is a Tier 2 bonus from the hunts and helping people that grants extra experience to those who participate in batte. So if you beat the Toko, just switch all familiars in so they all get the boost in a single fight
bro i have two toko's and ther both 3rd stage's ,it took time just as much time to obtain the lumberwood,so yeah it 's a neat game i'm playing ti again,

I grind the tokos tokotokos and tocotocolds with 3 dinos which all have earsplitter, then you dont loose any
Just strarted the game and was wondering, is there any way to increase stamina for Familiars ?
Total Noob Sauce no. Anyway u dun rlly need to increase their stamina. U just catch a dinoceros and just switch between ur mite and ur dinoceros. Thats for oliver anyway since he doesnt need a strong spell caster, however he does need a gud healer which i suggest niad best if u can get tokotocold. Thats my opinion based on the ps3 version
There is a way yes: there's a piece of equipment that can increase familiar stamina, a type of scale, but only equipable by familiars who can use scales.
Yeah I like this strategy but I like to farm elk they give same do but are a bit easier

If you cast seek fortune when you see a toko, while the text is appearing the toko will stop running.

It’s just a 4% chance, you can get a merit point upgrade that can bring it up to 4.8% catch rate later in the game. But it’s a set rate.
Ulk gives more EXP.
