Might be the odd one out here but my experience was super different. I played through the general few quests and then started my village in the middle of the map. Grinded for wood a good bit but kept on finding refugeees. Sometimes I found them next to each other. At about 9 hours in I had 9 villagers and a ton of iron. I gave them all iron axes and now one season is enough wood to last till the next. With iron axes they get about 18-25 logs per category. There’s 4 category’s so that’s about 70+ logs per season. That was more then enough for me which gave me time to furnish the village and focus on special projects around the map which give you dynasty levels for each one completed. At about 16 hours I had 2 villages. Fully stocked with each building and the second village I did little to no wood farming bc the villagers were getting almost too Much. The game is definitely not perfect and I’m not here to defend flaws. I wish the combat was more engaging. The progression is SLOW. I’m not sure how I feel about the seasonal progression. And the villagers are lifeless. But I find this game super relaxing and engaging for the environment and scenery alone. I enjoy planning out the village as well as balancing the village needs. I am hopeful the devs can make it a great game. They’ve already released 2 patches that fixed a ton of issues. Again. Far far from great but I personally enjoy it and see a lot of potential for a great survival game.
I liked it to tho. Played it with 3 Friends and it might be a bit laggy (In Singleplayer no Frame/Lag Problems at all) and it needs some more time to get a better Game, but im fine with the Basics we have and as you said: If you manage your Village good, you dont need to Grind Ressources all the time. And another thing which you mentioned i Agree with. The Combat feels kinda Useless since you just use it for some Bandits and Animals, but i want to see some more Weapons and some more Bandit camps or so, which maybe gives you extra loot or some Quest/Storylines. Otherwise why should i grind me a Armor which is just Custom and dont have other stats or no Different Weapons :3 I mean there fine but Medieval Japan has more to offer :D. That would make the Game more alive and i agree with that lifeless Villagers, they could make more with that Basics :) But im Hyped to see whats coming to it.
Please don't mislead people. This game is NOT from the same creators as Medieval Dynasty. MD is developed by Render Cube. And SD is made by Superkami Games. Same publisher (Toplitz Productions), different developers. Are most of the dynasty games shit? Yes. Are most of Toplitz games shit? Yes. Medieval Dynasty is a gem though, and if you look for someone to support it's Render Cube and any of their future projects. Not any dynasty clone that tries to take from them and fails.
PLEASE! Medival Dynasty and Sengoku Dynasty were made by different studios, so they have nothing to do with each other. So don't compare them. They do have the same publisher and perhaps this publisher had influence in wanting to make a copy of Medival Dynasty because it is so successful.

I've had the game for a few days now and have played it for 17 hours now. So far I'm loving it, despite the many hiccups out there. I think the world is great! Very colorful. I must honestly admit that I really enjoy building a village. I'm not well suited to survival and hunting. Fortunately, the latter is not difficult. I like to create my own story and it can keep me occupied for hours.
What's shocking is you didn't manage to trash this game. Many enjoy it despite its early access. Patience is a virtue, and any true warrior live by it.
I started playing medieval dynasty some time ago... I do enjoy the game, settings, establishing your village and expanding it from few huts into a town... that being said, that game is a walking simulator (it's better later in the game when you get a mount but before that each quest is just running between villages like a fool - most of the time you cannot just wait for the next time you are going to the place because you have limited time for each quest) with quite a lot of grinding (wood especially)... personally I play with unlimited inventory and fast building/crafting, I cannot really imagine playing it without it and still enjoying it.
this game just isn't for you. i haven't played this one yet, but i have over 200 hours in Mediaeval dynasty, and you are doing it wrong! you are supposed to create a village, you need to think about this like satisfactory. the point is to create automation. in Mediaeval dynasty, by the fifth in game year, which takes about 20 hours, i stopped carrying tools, since my village was making so much, i had no point in doing it myself. all i was doing was missions and designing better layouts for my village, finding the most efficient way to exploit my slav*** i mean villagers.
I get what you are saying but I’ve had a lot of people experience the same issues I have. I think it’s just a shallow early access , however with time I think it has potential. I just don’t think it’s worth jumping into it yet
I've only had it for 10 days, I have 118 hours in. Doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the resource gathering, it's much like Medievel Dynasty. So, his rant about wood collection is moot. If he had played Medievel Dynasty, then he would have been ready for the grind. Although the game is EA, it plays pretty much as expected except for what hasn't been implemented yet. Except one thing,.... this game is broken. But has potential. I have played to Dynasty level 21 twice. At about level 12-13 the game doesn't play as I think they intended. I've kept my villagers needs maxed out and they are currently at 130%, but they quite producing pretty much everything at Level 14. What I mean as an example is I have 5-6 fishermen, 2 hunters, 2 foragers, and 4 woodcutters, and others. I've kept their happiness maxed out since day 1. And every season my fishermen bring in about 450 fish, my hunters 200 meat, foragers 200 eggs, and my woodcutters keep the wood bin stocked. And it works great to that point. Then when I get to about Level 13, I see that what they are bringing in is about half of what they used to bring in, for no reason, they are still at 130% happiness. At level 14, all of a sudden, nothing for the most part. I mean my fishermen are bringing in about 66 fish, my hunters (with brand new steel knives) haven't sliced a single piece of meat since lvl14 and I'm 21 now, my foragers haven't gathered a single egg in several seasons, my woodcutters are bringing in about 25% of what they used to. Please keep in mind, I have never let their happiness go below maximum. I thought I had broke the game on my first playthrough because I did like 5-6 projects all at the same time. But on my 2nd playthrough it again was broken by lvl 14, and I had only done 1 project at a time this time and I only put myself on the project. But, my case in point is this review is incorrect in many ways. The only real problem is when the game mechanics don't work as we perceive them to be intended. I do not believe they intended the villagers to just stop working like that, so I won't play again till another update. But it still has a lot of potential.

It's just that giving a review of a game whose genre may not be what you wanted rather than what is expected by the community who plays such genre is not an honest review of the game, but of your experience. Many of the people reading reviews on this game came from Medievel Dynasty and wonder how it compares. They know the grind of chopping wood, it's nothing new. There is plenty wrong with the game that has nothing to do with grinding wood, which seems to be the worst of your review. And combat is in its earliest stages as well. But my point is that people looking for actual "review" are only getting a first impression video in a genre you are unfamiliar with. It's like proclaiming to be a sports fan and doing a review on a Major League Baseball game, and then complaining it plays nothing like Madden.
I've played heaps of survival games, enough to know this is a beta, not early access. The first patch was telling in how much they just hadn't played their own game. I also commented on how everything takes too long, weapons degrade to quickly, no voice acting, no combat, nothing worth exploring, no mount and the fact that it had a HUGE memory leak... like come on... People watching me on twitch who were playing the game ran into the same issues. Chopping wood is probably a highlight for this game. If you honestly think that 14 hours is not enough to time determine if the game is good or not and its just a "first impression" then thats on you. My review isnt incorrect for what I and a LOT of players experienced. You are literally defending poor game design.
@@sawmanUK All good brother. But this one will make you shake your head. I've been to Level 21 twice in this game, and played Medievel Dynasty for hundreds of hours and I do the same in both games. All that wood you hate to chop, well if you saw my village you would notice that not one blade of grass is out of place for as far as the eye can see, except 1 tree, and anything that needs to be removed to place a building or something. You can look at the mountain sides and not see a single stump because I don't take resources from where I build. I run for a few minutes to the other side of a mountain and only take big trees to leave it forested. But within eyesight of my villiage, it's all still there. Have a good day sir.
Once you have a few refugees you can easily get materials, I get a full log storage each season and have a stockpile in personal storage, obviously it's early access so it's going to change over time, and it's very early access atm. Overall I love the experience so far and I'm incredibly excited for it's future. Especially for changes to combat and enemies to add to the survival aspect. Also awaiting voice acting which will really help to bring the world to life, which already looks beautiful. Also in my experience, exploring the map I found a good mix of bandit, loot and refugee spawns, to continue growing my village and in turn increase my season production. It can be a slow start, but once you have one-two refugees, you can get a good amount of logs and work towards better tools for bonuses in later production and just focus on food and crafting yourself which is easy, then as you get more people you can diversify their jobs to do more for you. But again, this is early Alpha, things will change and these systems will be improved overtime.
It's an Alpha, what did you expect? Also, once the game will be in a proper state such as Medieval Dynasty, the idea is that you rather manage the villagers than doing everything yourself. Also, the punishment for respawning is food drain.
There are different ways of playing any games unless it is linear. Not so with Sengoku Dynasty. And whether one's destiny is to rule an entire province from the top mountain of Kai or sowing chaos across the land as a bandit chief, is ultimately driven by our own morals. It's called Sengoku Dynasty for a reason. Starting from meager means to rebuild a fallen village to the seat of a Daimyo commanding armies to secure an entire province, to wage wars on encroaching enemies, to ultimately become Shogun of Japan. Sengoku Jidai was a period of ripe opportunities for power grab, only the most capable would seize its heights.
As an avid player of medieval dynasty, I was excited to play this one. Its OK, but I am not a fan of the constant need for me to have to gather resources, even WHEN I have people living there. Can't automate anything at all. Storage is bad, tools constantly break and need replacement and the villagers only providing resources at season end (that don't even cover the making of a single building), just makes it too tedious at the moment. Even when I am progressing, I dont actually FEEL like I am progressing. Its weird. I will likely wait for a few updates before playing again because I simply dont have fun just gathering resources endlessly.
Although I do think most of your points are correct. My feeling about them are different. But that might also be because i have played medieval dynasty and know where this is going. In MD my village is self sufficient and you get enough of all resources. And a surplus. I have been playing SD for 2 hours and have 2 villagers. It is EA though. So alot is missing and not optimized. That I agree. You really have to like the simulation kind of vibe in order to be able to play this.
I saw the trailer and thought it looked awesome, but in reality it was at such a slow pace it makes it hard to get into. I'll give it another shot once they add more stuff to it.

My initial impulse was to defend the game, not going to lie. Unfortunately, I do agree it needs to rebalance the numbers, add content, and such. The Dynasty series from Toplitz seems to have terrible launches. Medieval Dynasty is one of my favorite games, and I hear good things about the state of Lumberjack and Farmer (though I haven't played them, since they seem to be 3d Harvest Moon kind of thing). I give them the benefit of the doubt, but Medieval Dynasty doesn't have a completed roadmap yet, and every game is a different team. It is definitely a buyer beware, check back later situation.
Let me update you guys about this game. There's now a teleportation feature! You can use the bell thingy, but it costs money. Unfortunately, tools are still terrible, and AI movement remains subpar. The population seems to increase more by doing nothing and avoiding quests than actively participating. The population is fixated on farming 6 LOG every season - what's up with that? Briefly, I managed to play this game for 30 hours, and I'm so bored. The quests don't make sense. I completed some of them and now find myself stuck at a point where someone is asking for a specific med that I can't grow on my farm. Both dry and wet options for rice aren't working properly. Additionally, there's no mount available, and the bandit PvP is terrible. Honestly, I regret buying it. I can't see how this game is going to improve anytime soon. Too many issues
Are you talking about the anesthetic quest for the leader of Aratani village? All you need is a cooking pot fire pit which you can make using a hammer. If you don’t have the seeds for the plant required to craft, check the farming vendor in Aratani after changing seasons and see if he sells the seed bag for the plant you need. Then just plant your own seeds or have one of your villagers do the farming and they’ll deposit the crop into your food storage after a season or so. Lastly, just buy sake from tavernkeep around the map or make your own in the simple brewery. Bamboo bottles and other items can also be bought from various vendors. They are easily acquired from Beggars if you have a beggar hut placed in your village. It took me a few seasons before I could acquire rice seeds. But eventually I did, and you can easily plant them in wet farming fields. Remember that crops only grow in certain seasons, and when assigning villagers to farming it will explain to you when each crop grows and doesn’t grow. Patience is key when it comes to farming, but thankfully you can leave all the grunt work to your villagers and focus on more important things :) I really don’t understand the backlash for this game! It’s adventure based while also being more simulation oriented. It’s also in early access! There is a lot of changes and improvements coming! The quests are not made to tell you how you’re supposed to do everything! The goal is to figure that out yourself, and figure out what to buy from whom and how to craft goods to complete quests and sustain your villages. For instance, I didn’t even need to grow rice myself to complete the farming quest. I just bought some rice from a food vendor and apparently that was sufficient. Only later did I start growing my own.
That game has mighty potential and a huge variety of aspects can be added to the game but somehow i have the feeling that the devs lack the creativity or the resources to make that a great title. Let just hope they somehow suceed with this project.
if we can tame horses and delegate work better and get better work doing it that way, then get more resources other than wood, farm progression, this game would be great. oh and more content
This is made by the same devs who made medieval dynasty, and when that game came out it was just as ‘Bad’ as this. So I am sure the devs would fix it. Plus the game is still in its early access stage. And I remember when Sengoku dynasty first got released as early access, it had terrible reviews on steam, but now those views are polishing more towards the positive side.

Toplitz dynasty series are all the same in the basics, Chop and infinite number of trees, pick up a million stones, spam that "E" key more times than you could possibly count picking up food that will go bad before you can eat it inspite of the fact that you get almost nothing from eating food and go through an endless supply of it while farming sticks to replace your tools that are constantly breaking and NOT FUCKING ONE OF THEM WILL LET YOU TELL A VILLAGER TO BUILD THEIR OWN JANKY ASS TEDIOUS HOUSE FOR THEMSELVES!!!! great game, if you want another one in the same line as the rest.
you can always loot other people's straw-hay for foods/items and stuffs. not sure how you play it. I do agree that grinding for wood is very boring tho.
I'm so glad I did not purchase this game. It sounds like they took the recipe of Medieval Dynasty and took all the good parts out and slapped a Japanese theme onto it.
I got 12 hours logged last weekend and I’m enjoying it as a time waster but I’m definitely gonna make a nice village say “this was nice” and never pick it up again. But I’m having fun combat is ass tho
Most interesting thing is, They Don't know a thing about Japanese sengoku history. First, Japanese sengoku(戦国時代), nobody eat animal with 4 legs, eating any 4 legs animal equal eating human, it's actually disgusting by every Japanese. The sengoku food It's all about farming and fishing. Only meat you allowed to eat it's fish and chicken. This game don't teach me anything about farm, but tell me go hunting a rabbit or fox. Excuse me? fox? Do you even know fox it's god like animal in Japanese history. Literally the fox It's kind of god who protect your mountain and wood. This game Just like tell if I'm hungry in 2023, I can kill my neighbor's pet dog for food WTF?! 2,sengoku It's 1467~1590， and the game it's right middle or later of it, the war going mad, farmers losing homes. What Japan had at that time, it's guns and some not so ancient technology. Cotton it's already exist in some noble family. And the bed (布団)，it's a set close to modern bed. NO body sleep in a empty house with a middle fire place and a straw sheet. That just like people in 2023 sleep in big house with a fire and cardboard box bed. 3. All the armor in the game it's ashigaru armor. What is ashigaru? It's basic armored farmer. Militia without training. They don't even have rights to own katana. ashigaru CAN'T own katana, They just like today's security guard. In the CGI, You actually see a guy with samurai armor who used cause trouble for your village. And now your are wearing ashigaru, just like a parking lot security guard, to fight against some rainbow six looking warriors. Man I really don't know why they must make a Japanese historic game😅
maybe in FIFE FUCKING THOUSAND YEARS we will get the official release of a game that is probably outdated the second it airs... and what the hell is with that graphic settings? this game is not even running on my GPU, it's draining 10GB of ram for... what? and it's using CPU... on 20%... because who needs multithreading... but that's not even the point, games run on GPU, not CPU, i tried everything it takes about 5-10 minutes to even BOOT it's 2023... i don't know what the hell game developers think nowadays... how can you even develop this game if already playing it takes 10 minutes to boot, every developer wants to quit the second he started.

Can't say I disagree. I really enjoyed Medieval Dynasty, and was really looking forward to this. But it's just not fun. The Dynasty mechanics make absolutely no sense to me at all.
all the dynasty games are like this. They early access the bear bones of the game, add updates( semi frequently) and after about a year-year and half of updates they release the full game and it's ok for the price they sell it for but no the dynasty games will never be voted for a gaming award they are good time sinks if you enjoy making your own villages ect but outside that not much else. I enjoy the time i get out of them but i would never recommended someone to buy a dynasty game unless it's finished.
Survival games need to be fun, even with gathering mechanics, if its clunky or slogg. Big pass, for example: Valheim at least cutting trees in Valheim was hella fun, fluid animations and tree domino effect ( loved killing my friends with it or enemies ). Despite this game having hella slow development times, it was very comfy, on top of that building was fantastic and combat did not feel like 2005 simulator games. In ARK Survival thankfuly more you progress less "grindy and time consuming resource management is". Ngl progressing from stone pickaxe , to dino smashing rocks with tail, to crab dual wielding dino smashing rocks, to laser drilling, to fire lizard swimming in lava or flying in space harvesting resources. OR giant robotic deer that hit-scans every resource around. If you gonna make a game about hitting axe against trees for 10 hours, at least make it fun to swing at trees.
I played this companies first game Medieval Dynasty in both EA and Full release. It looks almost identical to what I've seen in this video. Same no zoom map issue, endless wood gathering for every single structure, villagers do nothing until a tipping point where you suddenly have 100s of resources for no apparent reason and many many more small issues. I'd hardly be shocked if it wasn't just a change in assets with the same code backing it up.
@@sawmanUK it is UE5... I love Medieval Dynasty but didn't get this one.. not sure my pc or laptop would run it... I have problems with remnant 2 that is on UE5 as well so I do manage on lower resolution on pc and normal on laptop... also Medieval Dynasty has different difficulties and this one hasn't. If I do ever get it I will wait more reviews and testing on UA-cam...
@@sawmanUK I know my pc is old with an i5 4670k and a 1050ti and that I need a new one, but it has played God of war, Horizon Zero Dawn, Hogwarts legacy nicely, Requiem not sure yet I didn't play it much yet but the first Plague tale was ok, Remnant on UE5 is the only one I got having struggle on it, but does well with lower resolution, my laptop is a bit better with an i7 10th gen and 1650ti, but I do find ridiculous that an indie game requires so much to run honestly. Reviews on steam not too good anyway. I don't think buying a gpu for my pc would be a good idea, probably just a waste of money, I guess I will wait Medieval Dynasty coop and replay that instead... if I find someone lol... Also pc can only take 16 gb of ram while my laptop has 32...
Whaattt u dont like chopping woood(ha,ha,ha very funny story told of u about this game). I tried it but wasnt really for me,The other 1 mediveal dynasti is much better(but really couldent find intrest to progress to ending in this new game!!) Thanks for this video n info from your own view about it
To me this game still doesn't make sense, it even worst than cyberpunk early access. The idea of your villagers wandering around managing resources by collecting and storing resources I don't really like it. The only thing I like is, all storage containers are linked and binded each other and that make me easy. Also I don't like when I can't gather information inside the game about how to manage village better way, they just want you simply buy guide book of sengoku dynasty directly from steam store.. But still I manage to play this game about 60 hours with dynasty lvl is just 18, 19 total villagers unlocked, and what more worst than ever is, after reaching lvl 11 until 18 dynasty, my villagers start to act angry all the times. More complicated production added as long I go further, medic and maintenance production, I don't know what the hell is it and how to solve this to prevent my villagers from getting crazy brain.
I've had the same problem and it's the only problem I've had is as you stated, after about Level 11, things don't play as I think they intended. I've kept them at 130% happiness and still they gather pretty much nothing. That can not be what they intended, there has to be things at work we are unaware of as yet, and those mechanics need to be turned off till it is implemented as to what we need to do to correct it. I have several hundred hours into Medievel Dynasty, and 118 hours in Sengoku. As far as a guide, I would never buy the guide. Here's the only guide you need. Set your villagers to only collect resources, do all the work yourself with the resources they gather. As an example, I will use the forager, I can have them go out and collect 100 eggs per season, or I could have them cook the eggs between seasons. It is quicker and easier for me to cook those eggs because I can do it while I get up to get a fresh cup of coffee, OR, I can go out and collect those 100 eggs and have them cook them between seasons. Which takes longer to complete the same result? Never have the villagers make shit to sell. Have them get the resources and you make them. In this game I only really sell one item and that's the Inari ritual stone you make with Chiseled stone. This might change as they develop the game more. So, you are obviously enjoying the game, as am I. And if they didn't suddenly go stir crazy for no apparent reason it would be completely enjoyable as we wait for more mechanics to be implemented. As a side note, although you need to have the storage buildings to make the resource boxes active, I set up a shed directly across from my house and have all of the storage boxes on that one platform. So, general storage, wood, water and food are all on the same platform. I even have my grass drying racks just to the side of it so it's all centrally located.

I've had the game for a few days now and have played it for 17 hours now. So far I'm loving it, despite the many hiccups out there. I think the world is great! Very colorful. I must honestly admit that I really enjoy building a village. I'm not well suited to survival and hunting. Fortunately, the latter is not difficult. I like to create my own story and it can keep me occupied for hours.

I started playing medieval dynasty some time ago... I do enjoy the game, settings, establishing your village and expanding it from few huts into a town... that being said, that game is a walking simulator (it's better later in the game when you get a mount but before that each quest is just running between villages like a fool - most of the time you cannot just wait for the next time you are going to the place because you have limited time for each quest) with quite a lot of grinding (wood especially)... personally I play with unlimited inventory and fast building/crafting, I cannot really imagine playing it without it and still enjoying it.

i haven't played this one yet, but i have over 200 hours in Mediaeval dynasty, and you are doing it wrong!
you are supposed to create a village, you need to think about this like satisfactory. the point is to create automation.
in Mediaeval dynasty, by the fifth in game year, which takes about 20 hours, i stopped carrying tools, since my village was making so much, i had no point in doing it myself.
all i was doing was missions and designing better layouts for my village, finding the most efficient way to exploit my slav*** i mean villagers.
I get what you are saying but I’ve had a lot of people experience the same issues I have. I think it’s just a shallow early access , however with time I think it has potential. I just don’t think it’s worth jumping into it yet
I've only had it for 10 days, I have 118 hours in. Doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the resource gathering, it's much like Medievel Dynasty. So, his rant about wood collection is moot. If he had played Medievel Dynasty, then he would have been ready for the grind. Although the game is EA, it plays pretty much as expected except for what hasn't been implemented yet. Except one thing,.... this game is broken. But has potential. I have played to Dynasty level 21 twice. At about level 12-13 the game doesn't play as I think they intended. I've kept my villagers needs maxed out and they are currently at 130%, but they quite producing pretty much everything at Level 14. What I mean as an example is I have 5-6 fishermen, 2 hunters, 2 foragers, and 4 woodcutters, and others. I've kept their happiness maxed out since day 1. And every season my fishermen bring in about 450 fish, my hunters 200 meat, foragers 200 eggs, and my woodcutters keep the wood bin stocked. And it works great to that point. Then when I get to about Level 13, I see that what they are bringing in is about half of what they used to bring in, for no reason, they are still at 130% happiness. At level 14, all of a sudden, nothing for the most part. I mean my fishermen are bringing in about 66 fish, my hunters (with brand new steel knives) haven't sliced a single piece of meat since lvl14 and I'm 21 now, my foragers haven't gathered a single egg in several seasons, my woodcutters are bringing in about 25% of what they used to. Please keep in mind, I have never let their happiness go below maximum.
I thought I had broke the game on my first playthrough because I did like 5-6 projects all at the same time. But on my 2nd playthrough it again was broken by lvl 14, and I had only done 1 project at a time this time and I only put myself on the project.
But, my case in point is this review is incorrect in many ways. The only real problem is when the game mechanics don't work as we perceive them to be intended. I do not believe they intended the villagers to just stop working like that, so I won't play again till another update. But it still has a lot of potential.

It's just that giving a review of a game whose genre may not be what you wanted rather than what is expected by the community who plays such genre is not an honest review of the game, but of your experience. Many of the people reading reviews on this game came from Medievel Dynasty and wonder how it compares. They know the grind of chopping wood, it's nothing new. There is plenty wrong with the game that has nothing to do with grinding wood, which seems to be the worst of your review. And combat is in its earliest stages as well.
But my point is that people looking for actual "review" are only getting a first impression video in a genre you are unfamiliar with. It's like proclaiming to be a sports fan and doing a review on a Major League Baseball game, and then complaining it plays nothing like Madden.
I've played heaps of survival games, enough to know this is a beta, not early access. The first patch was telling in how much they just hadn't played their own game. I also commented on how everything takes too long, weapons degrade to quickly, no voice acting, no combat, nothing worth exploring, no mount and the fact that it had a HUGE memory leak... like come on... People watching me on twitch who were playing the game ran into the same issues. Chopping wood is probably a highlight for this game. If you honestly think that 14 hours is not enough to time determine if the game is good or not and its just a "first impression" then thats on you. My review isnt incorrect for what I and a LOT of players experienced. You are literally defending poor game design.
@@sawmanUK All good brother. But this one will make you shake your head. I've been to Level 21 twice in this game, and played Medievel Dynasty for hundreds of hours and I do the same in both games. All that wood you hate to chop, well if you saw my village you would notice that not one blade of grass is out of place for as far as the eye can see, except 1 tree, and anything that needs to be removed to place a building or something. You can look at the mountain sides and not see a single stump because I don't take resources from where I build. I run for a few minutes to the other side of a mountain and only take big trees to leave it forested. But within eyesight of my villiage, it's all still there. Have a good day sir.

Honest question, did you play Medieval Dynasty at all?
Once you have a few refugees you can easily get materials, I get a full log storage each season and have a stockpile in personal storage, obviously it's early access so it's going to change over time, and it's very early access atm.
Overall I love the experience so far and I'm incredibly excited for it's future.
Especially for changes to combat and enemies to add to the survival aspect.
Also awaiting voice acting which will really help to bring the world to life, which already looks beautiful.
Also in my experience, exploring the map I found a good mix of bandit, loot and refugee spawns, to continue growing my village and in turn increase my season production.
It can be a slow start, but once you have one-two refugees, you can get a good amount of logs and work towards better tools for bonuses in later production and just focus on food and crafting yourself which is easy, then as you get more people you can diversify their jobs to do more for you.
But again, this is early Alpha, things will change and these systems will be improved overtime.

There are different ways of playing any games unless it is linear. Not so with Sengoku Dynasty.
And whether one's destiny is to rule an entire province from the top mountain of Kai or sowing chaos across the land as a bandit chief, is ultimately driven by our own morals. It's called Sengoku Dynasty for a reason. Starting from meager means to rebuild a fallen village to the seat of a Daimyo commanding armies to secure an entire province, to wage wars on encroaching enemies, to ultimately become Shogun of Japan.
Sengoku Jidai was a period of ripe opportunities for power grab, only the most capable would seize its heights.
Played lots of Medieval Dynasty. In Sengoku are you able to actually fight and raise armies, or is this atleast planned??
As an avid player of medieval dynasty, I was excited to play this one. Its OK, but I am not a fan of the constant need for me to have to gather resources, even WHEN I have people living there. Can't automate anything at all. Storage is bad, tools constantly break and need replacement and the villagers only providing resources at season end (that don't even cover the making of a single building), just makes it too tedious at the moment. Even when I am progressing, I dont actually FEEL like I am progressing. Its weird. I will likely wait for a few updates before playing again because I simply dont have fun just gathering resources endlessly.

In MD my village is self sufficient and you get enough of all resources. And a surplus. I have been playing SD for 2 hours and have 2 villagers.
It is EA though. So alot is missing and not optimized. That I agree. You really have to like the simulation kind of vibe in order to be able to play this.
I saw the trailer and thought it looked awesome, but in reality it was at such a slow pace it makes it hard to get into. I'll give it another shot once they add more stuff to it.

My initial impulse was to defend the game, not going to lie. Unfortunately, I do agree it needs to rebalance the numbers, add content, and such. The Dynasty series from Toplitz seems to have terrible launches. Medieval Dynasty is one of my favorite games, and I hear good things about the state of Lumberjack and Farmer (though I haven't played them, since they seem to be 3d Harvest Moon kind of thing). I give them the benefit of the doubt, but Medieval Dynasty doesn't have a completed roadmap yet, and every game is a different team. It is definitely a buyer beware, check back later situation.

Let me update you guys about this game. There's now a teleportation feature! You can use the bell thingy, but it costs money. Unfortunately, tools are still terrible, and AI movement remains subpar. The population seems to increase more by doing nothing and avoiding quests than actively participating. The population is fixated on farming 6 LOG every season - what's up with that?
Briefly, I managed to play this game for 30 hours, and I'm so bored. The quests don't make sense. I completed some of them and now find myself stuck at a point where someone is asking for a specific med that I can't grow on my farm. Both dry and wet options for rice aren't working properly. Additionally, there's no mount available, and the bandit PvP is terrible. Honestly, I regret buying it. I can't see how this game is going to improve anytime soon. Too many issues
Are you talking about the anesthetic quest for the leader of Aratani village? All you need is a cooking pot fire pit which you can make using a hammer. If you don’t have the seeds for the plant required to craft, check the farming vendor in Aratani after changing seasons and see if he sells the seed bag for the plant you need. Then just plant your own seeds or have one of your villagers do the farming and they’ll deposit the crop into your food storage after a season or so. Lastly, just buy sake from tavernkeep around the map or make your own in the simple brewery. Bamboo bottles and other items can also be bought from various vendors. They are easily acquired from Beggars if you have a beggar hut placed in your village.
It took me a few seasons before I could acquire rice seeds. But eventually I did, and you can easily plant them in wet farming fields. Remember that crops only grow in certain seasons, and when assigning villagers to farming it will explain to you when each crop grows and doesn’t grow. Patience is key when it comes to farming, but thankfully you can leave all the grunt work to your villagers and focus on more important things :)
I really don’t understand the backlash for this game! It’s adventure based while also being more simulation oriented. It’s also in early access! There is a lot of changes and improvements coming! The quests are not made to tell you how you’re supposed to do everything! The goal is to figure that out yourself, and figure out what to buy from whom and how to craft goods to complete quests and sustain your villages. For instance, I didn’t even need to grow rice myself to complete the farming quest. I just bought some rice from a food vendor and apparently that was sufficient. Only later did I start growing my own.
That game has mighty potential and a huge variety of aspects can be added to the game but somehow i have the feeling that the devs lack the creativity or the resources to make that a great title. Let just hope they somehow suceed with this project.

All Sengoku Dynasty is early access for coop mode, they reskinned medieval added coop and asked full price for you to beta test said mode
This is made by the same devs who made medieval dynasty, and when that game came out it was just as ‘Bad’ as this. So I am sure the devs would fix it. Plus the game is still in its early access stage. And I remember when Sengoku dynasty first got released as early access, it had terrible reviews on steam, but now those views are polishing more towards the positive side.

Toplitz dynasty series are all the same in the basics, Chop and infinite number of trees, pick up a million stones, spam that "E" key more times than you could possibly count picking up food that will go bad before you can eat it inspite of the fact that you get almost nothing from eating food and go through an endless supply of it while farming sticks to replace your tools that are constantly breaking and NOT FUCKING ONE OF THEM WILL LET YOU TELL A VILLAGER TO BUILD THEIR OWN JANKY ASS TEDIOUS HOUSE FOR THEMSELVES!!!!

3. All the armor in the game it's ashigaru armor. What is ashigaru? It's basic armored farmer. Militia without training. They don't even have rights to own katana. ashigaru CAN'T own katana, They just like today's security guard. In the CGI, You actually see a guy with samurai armor who used cause trouble for your village. And now your are wearing ashigaru, just like a parking lot security guard, to fight against some rainbow six looking warriors.

all the dynasty games are like this. They early access the bear bones of the game, add updates( semi frequently) and after about a year-year and half of updates they release the full game and it's ok for the price they sell it for but no the dynasty games will never be voted for a gaming award they are good time sinks if you enjoy making your own villages ect but outside that not much else. I enjoy the time i get out of them but i would never recommended someone to buy a dynasty game unless it's finished.

Survival games need to be fun, even with gathering mechanics, if its clunky or slogg. Big pass, for example:
Valheim at least cutting trees in Valheim was hella fun, fluid animations and tree domino effect ( loved killing my friends with it or enemies ). Despite this game having hella slow development times, it was very comfy, on top of that building was fantastic and combat did not feel like 2005 simulator games.
In ARK Survival thankfuly more you progress less "grindy and time consuming resource management is". Ngl progressing from stone pickaxe , to dino smashing rocks with tail, to crab dual wielding dino smashing rocks, to laser drilling, to fire lizard swimming in lava or flying in space harvesting resources. OR giant robotic deer that hit-scans every resource around.
If you gonna make a game about hitting axe against trees for 10 hours, at least make it fun to swing at trees.
I played this companies first game Medieval Dynasty in both EA and Full release. It looks almost identical to what I've seen in this video. Same no zoom map issue, endless wood gathering for every single structure, villagers do nothing until a tipping point where you suddenly have 100s of resources for no apparent reason and many many more small issues. I'd hardly be shocked if it wasn't just a change in assets with the same code backing it up.

not sure my pc or laptop would run it... I have problems with remnant 2 that is on UE5 as well so I do manage on lower resolution on pc and normal on laptop... also Medieval Dynasty has different difficulties and this one hasn't. If I do ever get it I will wait more reviews and testing on UA-cam...

@@sawmanUK I know my pc is old with an i5 4670k and a 1050ti and that I need a new one, but it has played God of war, Horizon Zero Dawn, Hogwarts legacy nicely, Requiem not sure yet I didn't play it much yet but the first Plague tale was ok, Remnant on UE5 is the only one I got having struggle on it, but does well with lower resolution, my laptop is a bit better with an i7 10th gen and 1650ti, but I do find ridiculous that an indie game requires so much to run honestly. Reviews on steam not too good anyway. I don't think buying a gpu for my pc would be a good idea, probably just a waste of money, I guess I will wait Medieval Dynasty coop and replay that instead... if I find someone lol... Also pc can only take 16 gb of ram while my laptop has 32...

To me this game still doesn't make sense, it even worst than cyberpunk early access. The idea of your villagers wandering around managing resources by collecting and storing resources I don't really like it. The only thing I like is, all storage containers are linked and binded each other and that make me easy. Also I don't like when I can't gather information inside the game about how to manage village better way, they just want you simply buy guide book of sengoku dynasty directly from steam store..
But still I manage to play this game about 60 hours with dynasty lvl is just 18, 19 total villagers unlocked, and what more worst than ever is, after reaching lvl 11 until 18 dynasty, my villagers start to act angry all the times. More complicated production added as long I go further, medic and maintenance production, I don't know what the hell is it and how to solve this to prevent my villagers from getting crazy brain.
I've had the same problem and it's the only problem I've had is as you stated, after about Level 11, things don't play as I think they intended. I've kept them at 130% happiness and still they gather pretty much nothing. That can not be what they intended, there has to be things at work we are unaware of as yet, and those mechanics need to be turned off till it is implemented as to what we need to do to correct it.
I have several hundred hours into Medievel Dynasty, and 118 hours in Sengoku.
As far as a guide, I would never buy the guide. Here's the only guide you need. Set your villagers to only collect resources, do all the work yourself with the resources they gather. As an example, I will use the forager, I can have them go out and collect 100 eggs per season, or I could have them cook the eggs between seasons. It is quicker and easier for me to cook those eggs because I can do it while I get up to get a fresh cup of coffee, OR, I can go out and collect those 100 eggs and have them cook them between seasons. Which takes longer to complete the same result? Never have the villagers make shit to sell. Have them get the resources and you make them. In this game I only really sell one item and that's the Inari ritual stone you make with Chiseled stone. This might change as they develop the game more.
So, you are obviously enjoying the game, as am I. And if they didn't suddenly go stir crazy for no apparent reason it would be completely enjoyable as we wait for more mechanics to be implemented.
As a side note, although you need to have the storage buildings to make the resource boxes active, I set up a shed directly across from my house and have all of the storage boxes on that one platform. So, general storage, wood, water and food are all on the same platform. I even have my grass drying racks just to the side of it so it's all centrally located.
