Mine is too fat i have to spread my legs to get over the back wheel i think its time for a saddle upgrade :)
Are gel saddles any good?
The gel saddles are really good
Mines not the best
Had my new bike 24hrs now, done around 16 miles in total to break her in and its sweet on and off road for a 27.5+ hardtail but my ar*e is killin me so a new seat is a must!👍
Just remove the saddle, use only the post :-D
Damn
🤣🤣🤣
Popular method amongst excessively promiscuous women and also men who "swing the other way" 😂
@@legenderekonwheels Neah, it's just the way our parents used to go to school everyday, while having a 1x1 transmission :-D
That just moves the pain to another area
Went for a massive ride yesterday really needed this this morning hahaha
Great vid Rich...so so many riders are oblivious to saddle fit...or even the crucial sit bone measurement.
Big padded saddles are often way more uncomfortable, but novices seem to go bigger and bigger if get sore.
Dang the struggle is real after my long ride with my friends everyone was complaining of a sore a... glad i found this video and i’ll try to follow your tips on my next long ride...bam
I used to not really look at saddle angle, but I got a tip to test the saddle horizontally first. DO IT WITH A LEVELER. Damn, what a difference.
I got back on a bike after probably 10ish years and WOW my ass 😂 I think I just need to do some adjusting but I also bought padded pants 👍
No doubt u need a saddle fit...more padded doesnt necessarily mean more comfort. Its sit bone width is crucial.
Rupert Wenn yep I just got my saddle adjusted forward and angled a bit differently and I can already feel the difference!
I believe more women should be THIS proud of their bodies!
...WOW😄
Increase your butt size for natural padding
Boy do I need this. I have measured my sit bones and tried many different chamois...I love this channel and hope mine will be an tenth as good one day.
Saddle height. When sitting on the saddle, low pedal at 6 o'clock, your heel on the pedal, your leg should be straight. So when you pedal, normally, with the front part of your foot, you got the right angle between your femur and your tibia
Really useful! Will use it tomorrow
Saw Doddy’s vid where he said he used an EMTB saddle. Seemed to make sense. I’ve struggled with saddles for years so splashed out on an Ergon EMTB saddle in largest size. Omg. What a difference. Coupled with a decent pair of shorts and now the pain is way less.
I spent a small fortune on saddles and finally found one I love so just to piss me off the manufacturer decided to discontinue the model that I love
Nice
Was it the speed pure
Hahahahaha, that happened to me.

How did youtube know my ass is sore? 😂

Non-pro tip: After bathing/showering, prior to a ride, moisturize your middle area & upper thighs, thoroughly. Seriously!
Chamois cream, in addition, better still, but this does help with comfort!
Damn
I find Fox Ranger Shorts and the chamois liner that comes with them brilliant for keeping the boys comfy and fresh....other brands are of course available. Completely agree when you say " you get what you pay for". After all it's about looking after your bits. Another great, informative short vid Rich. Thanks man
If you think the fox shorts are good try a pair of bib knicks from china for 24 bucks they are way more comfy than the fox ( the fox shorts are the hottest stickiest sweetiest flappy saddle snagging slide downering 140 bucks ive ever spent).
They are very helpful
Just did a week long biking trip, and I think I finally found the need for chamois cream! Damn, the chaffing. I did find, though, that riding in just the chamois without shorts over helps on big days. I think that with less fabric rubbing around, the chamois didn't try to move around as much on my body. That was also just a brutal trip, so technical and with so much hike a bike
Other things to try: Gel seat cushion. Suspension seat post. Carbon rails. Absorb 50%-100% of big hits with your legs.
Great video!
Sooo true on buying multiple of ur hallowed saddle....I switched from wtb to sdg last time...sdg is now fine, but the wtb fitted me better, should have stuck with it...
Fabric Scoop saddle is epic!
Great video 👌 I went on my first ride recently and literally have bruising from the saddle super painful 😣
that was me yesterday at dalby forest. great trails
I love that half-empty Jack Daniels bottle in between of the cleaning stuff )) I think it greately fits there ))
Put a mini in your to go kit to
Good content my current seat Giant Stance 2 hurts my ass. I never thought to change the position or angle before looking at new saddles.

"Are you a fan of:`Mashing those miles, Cruching those hillclimbs, and putting in those big epic days,
but find yourself walking like John Wayne afterwards for about 3 days.
Chances are if you answered yes to any of those then your setup is slightly wrong!"
Who writes this stuff?
Lol everything is wrong with that but I just realized it by reading it, not by hearing it
Is this man an alcoholic?
🤷 makes it more interesting I guess😂
@Daniel leCamp its not that he said crunching, read again maybe you'll get it
@Daniel leCamp Lol ok
this video made me think twice about double dipping and the dangers people bring when they do it
3:57 just apply as thick layer as you can on the chamois, if you cant add more, just add a big splash of it if you need more, no double dipping needed.
I bought a roscoe 6 bike a few days ago. I haven't rode a bike since I was a teenager in the 80's. Rode this bike around the neighborhood and my ass bone was KILLING ME!! 😫
Why the hell not put more padding in the seats? Why I have to buy padded shorts? :'o My ass hurts!!
They want there bike super featherweight
Your arse hurts because your saddle doesnt suit your arse bones simple . The padded shorts are like icing on a cake they want make a shit cake good.
I’m going through this exact process now 4 years after an otherwise excellent bike fit. My sit bones start hurting at about 16 miles. I’m doing all of your suggestions but starting with the cheapest. Slightly lower saddle height has already helped. Also slight tilt so nose is raised. 2 new chamois proved more padding is NOT more comfort. Next, outer shorts and maybe new saddle. It’s a process.
I have been waiting for this video since i started riding a mtb lol
Hope it helps!
@@gmbn already ordered a good chamois and chamois cream! Got a new seat last month and just that has helped a lot.
Used to use the DHB liners which I found to be very good but in the early heatwave this year I was getting more issues from the soggy nappy on a long day than I was solving.
I've got some UnderArmour heatgear boxers which keep things soooo much cooler down there.
At first I could ride an hour or two on my full sus and it's decent Whyte saddle but like when you first start riding the sit bones harden up, 3, 4 and more quickly became comfortable during lockdown.
I recently did 6.30 hours on a xc ride on my hardtail and it's cheap hard seat and it was fine.
If I could find some with silicon cuffs on the legs to stop them riding up they would be perfect.
Tipping the nose of the saddle down a fraction to take any hint of pressure off the taint also helped.
I got some Endura shorts that came with a padded liner and they had silicon cuffs! I don't like them too much as I've hairy legs and they just pull on the hair hahaha
Oh. So we actually need a seat? hmm 🤔
Not if your sending it!! 🤙🏼
Not doing it, it adds weight.
I belive so 🤔🤷♂️
Oh. So apparently there is such a thing as padded pants for this endeavor? Live and learn... Here i was just turning out 40-50km commute everyday for the last few months and just dealing with stressed skin.
In regards to saddle hight I found that position my heel on the pedal and adjust the hight to the point where I can't lift off the saddle is a good point to start
Agree, helps so much with maximizing the energy from the stroke of your legs. Biomechanics is real.
What if you don't have a dropper? I've been running mine slammed and just standing up the whole ride.
Ride more often to get used to riding. Your seat muscles will not be so sore anymore after some practise. A good saddle is very important too. I use different saddles in my different bikes but the best one for me is Selle Italia X-LR KIT CARBONIO SUPERFLOW despite it’s very light weight.
My SQLab seat changed biking for me! I was ready to sell my bike because nothing I did and no seat I tried helped the pain I would be in after riding.
I was just wondering if those seats are good or a gimmick. Which one did you get? For MTB I suppose?
Since I switched to Brooks saddles, no issues at all✌🏻
Richard: shamys are a great way to stop your butt from hurting. Me: What the heck is a shamy ? 😂
Hey Craig its no longer a shamy its just synthetic padding nowa days back in the day 30 years ago bike shorts had a real chaimios linner in the crouch mainly to reduce chaffing it was super soft leather not for vegans i, m told ha ha why people are calling it a chaimois is incorrect its just padding and sorry riche you dont get what you pay for ive bought expensive knicks with crap padding and really cheap knicks from china with really good padding.
You shouldn't need them on a balance bike, your nappy will take any strain
@@phabletfortyfour3457 dont balance bikes still have a saddle ?
@@Yoda-em5mt only Craig could tell us that
I just started biking again after 10 years this summer. Instantly had to buy a gel seat cover and shammy jammies 😂
Gotta get the gooch groove
All you need is some proper ass muscles. With those you can ride anything 😂
Not really considering the glutes don't shield the sit bones when seated
Anything aye 😏😌😉

Finally this is what i want 😂😂😂

I use a seat cushion cover😁👍
Can you guys do how to fix lower back pain while riding (happens to me mainly while climbing) next?
bad mobility/posture, poor core strength. Could be a lot of things
Nose the saddle down a few degrees. You will be surprised how little it takes to immediately feel the improvement.
Those ergon saddles do look good...so despite knowing a wtb silverado fits me well, still want to try one! Pricey as hell tho those ergons
Tip: Ride faster using a taller gear ratio. By taking it to the pedals, you will lessen the saddle pressure and get there sooner or ride farther.
And spend less time riding so lesson arse pain problem solved 😁😁
The one time at the Cape Argus in Cape Town, South Africa, I saw a dude who had a top of the line bike and he had fitted an old post-man style saddle that was old-school leather and had big springs underneath it. He said " F... that, he does NOT take chances with comfort! Haha!
Hahaha this makes me laugh so hard

I use a saddle pad it works good for long rides

#askgmbn I have a scott scale 770 with head tube angle of 69 degrees... What max fork travel i can use without damaging my frame?
Also i just got used to my saddle but it used to hurt and now it doesn't so you don't have to changer saddle or buy anything
It just sometimes miles on the bike regardless of the saddle this will eventually sort out your rear end....

Just remember that full bare carbon saddles look good on every single bike
Look good they do. Change it out for the ride tho. 🤣🤣🤣
I have one on my bare carbon scott strike pro, surprisingly comfortable on smooth ground, and I'm stood 99% of the time once I'm on the trails. I also only ride that bike on very rare occasions 😂
Aliexpress has perfect bum pad shorts
what is the chainring size?
Hey guys, please can you help ?? I am suffering from upper leg pain soon after getting into bed for the night ... the pain is clearly in the muscles but doesn’t feel like a pulled muscle but just a dull pain, I can relate to something like growing pains when you were a kid ... ?? Chances are I am possibly over doing it a bit for my age ... twenty . .. 53 ! not unfit but no athlete .. can you make any recommendations with food or drinks to stop this sort of pain or is it just a case of more rest or lots of pain killers ! Thanks everyone for the great videos 👍
I'm going to start this off with the fact that I am NOT a doctor. My only suggestion is that perhaps you look into a magnesium supplement? It seems to help with restless legs and discomfort people have at night. Maybe more water? I would say if it does continue, definitely see your doctor, and consult with a pharmacist or doctor about the magnesium too to be safe.
If it only happens after a hard ride you need to get some simple sugars in asap after ride to replenish glycogen stores . I find normal sugar coke is the best staight after ride no pain.
@@Yoda-em5mt thanks 👍
Can someone please give me some tips on my issue of hitting my butt when I’m going down hill or drops?

i found the most confortable way was to remove the saddle altogether
It's not my rear end that hurts when riding, it's my 'PROSTATE'. Any advice???
Just bought my trinx N106 and tried it for 7km. The inner thigh and bones in between my legs hurt right now.
Thats normal. How are your legs now?
It's called Arsecream. ☺️
brand new bike, i always wear padded shorts, still get bumhole pain and have to stop riding for a week :(
Maybe change you of bike lifestyle and the butt pain will go . 😊
Major perenium pain. Prostate pain after. Bike made me go invalid. Why dont they just remove the point in the front and make the saddle like the shammy. Afterall we dont ride a horse
Greetings, I offer you my profound gratitude and then some if you were so kind to let me have your thoughts about what I’m planning to achieve in 2021-hopefully sans COVID, if you know what I mean. My humble plan is to MTB the northern part of Spain-namely the Camino del Nortè. A distance of about 900 miles in 14 days. I will be hiring a bike-hopefully an eBike. Please, keep in mind that I do not have the luxury of having that eBike around here before I actually get to Spain in the first place-so that I could practise beforehand. In terms of human comfort during those demanding 14 days, I do not have a clue as to what I would need to take along before I actually do get to Spain. Now, this is where you come into the equation to begin with. In other words, if you were yours truly-thank you very much-what items would you take with you before you arrived in Spain? I thank you in advance. I sincerely hope to hear from you sooner than later. Stay safe...
I hope you get a reply from them, mate.
does anyone manufacture a saddle for riders with tremendous hemorrhoids? (asking for a friend)
Bruhhh 😂😂😂
Sure its for a friend had a mate maybe 30 years ago with this issue he ended up bursting them uintensionally which sounded like it hurt like fff cck but they didnt hurt after that he did end up with the nick name hemas till this day .

Butt pain... Yay!!! 😜
I found that underwear causes a lot of pain on a ride after a while. The seems around the leg start to really hurt.
I’m enjoying the bike so far ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
lol this guy looks like Luke Bryan and his Neck beard
Buy a brooks saddle. No more pain

Suspension seatpost?
Good idea.
Depending on the type of suspension used on the seat post, it may limit the effectiveness, or completely prevent the ability to fit a dropper (mine does). I have a hardtail, but I wouldn’t bother on a full suspension MTB.
I'll double dip my creams if I damn well want to, it's mine and I bought it, I don't care if "nobody" likes a double dipper. 😜
