      Yes I was once with a friend at his local trails about a 20 mile ride away from me. So I go down this trail blind and as we're going down he shouts back what's ahead. Well I heard him shout 2 or 3 then the one important one I miss. He shouts big rough hill bomb and by that time my momentum had already carried me half way down it. That day the bike fliped an uno reverse card as it took me for a ride! 😂 I did make it all the way down with both me and my bike in one peice though!

    Regarding the pedal mistake: Some ppl might say that's ridiculous and hardly anyone ever actually makes that mistake(due to the giant R and L), BUT I've been skateboarding for 30+ years and just 4 months ago I put a truck on backwards.
    I've seen other seasoned skaters do the same thing many MANY times.
    I've forgotten to snug up a freshly built BMX before too.
    My bars ended up against my top-tube after one hop. 😂 I said "OH YEAH!"
    EDIT: Putting a truck on backwards is WAY more visible than putting the wrong pedal on.

    not having advice about the trail is probably my biggest mistake, friend knows the trail and i just follow him blindly and tried to match is speed. It was a downhill and a fairly steep one, it was straight down no turns; you just need to choose the right path to avoid puncture as you will easily hit 60km/h. There was a bend to the right, under normal circumstances you can easily brake and take the bend at around 40km/h becasue it was wide, but it was pure gravel(big ones). I braked, no grip, and the tyre jsut bounced and skidded on the gravel, tried to bank/lean and turn, still no grip.
    "Oh shit". I jsut decided to straigten up and brake to reduced my speed as much as possible before i hit the bushes.
    *Big ass rock hidden behind a bush*: "Surprise Modafocka"
    Suspension botommed out and i did a frontflip, fortunately landing on soft bushes. Never would i go that fast again without knowing the trail, i still got phobia on very fast downhill i do not know and my fingers automatically feather the brakes.

    How about a video on ‘wardrobe mistakes’. I’m always confused about what to wear for what temperatures. When are pants/tights warranted vs shorts vs shorts with knee warmers.
    I wish I could see what GMBN recommends for different temperature ranges. Ex: A split screen that shows a picture of Neil and how he dresses for sub 0, 0, 10, 20, 30 degree Celsius.

    • @marioelenes5808
      @marioelenes5808 4 роки тому +3

    1:39 So broken leg 2019 update (only coz it's related to this). So i've been riding a week after breaking my right leg in 2018 and then 51 weeks later in 2019. I've had 2 surgeries, a stainless steel bar screwed onto my right femur, I'm never running again, Jumping when on foot is gonna be risky, I can only bend my knee to 110 degrees and as of the date of the video I can ride better than I can walk. The problem is the soft tissue in my right leg isn't very stretchy any more, so for me, not being in the correct gear all of the time could put me in the hospital and then a wheelchair. Fun times! :(

    • @M3PH11
      @M3PH11 4 роки тому

      @Aditya Wardhana no it's more of a case of avoiding spinning my legs too fast and heavy load. If the freewheel engages while I'm pedaling (you know when you go from the bottom of the cassette to the top quickly and you lose drive coz the wheel is spinning very slightly faster than the hub internals) I have a 80% chance of snapping all the soft tissue in my knee, which is already mostly scar tissue, resulting in a completely unusable leg. So I always pre-shift and break to load up the hub when going up the cassette. Pedaling downhill isn't too bad because I'm a little crazy and I pedal most downhill sections I ride so the gearing in that situation is never more than a gear or two off, which isn't too much of an issue

    So, i come from motorbikes and... a few things i've noticed regular bikers do that is a big no no on motorbike is locking the back wheel and braking with one or two fingers. First one is obv... no traction = no control. Also you brake less efficiently. The brake thing is coz you can end up "bottoming out" the brake lever on your fingers that are still on the grip before you actually reach the maximum brake force.

    The worst mistake I think I've made on my bike was trying to remove a pedal the wrong direction, the threads probably weren't greased either. I couldn't remember which direction to unscrew it and managed to shear off the metal of the crank surrounding the spindle of the pedal. In the example ever Blake goes the wrong way I'm surprised you don't mention waiting at intersections.
    In group riding on motorcycles (street or dirt) you are responsible for the person behind you making the right turn.

    Screwed the pedals wrong sided just the day my first bike arrived, got mad about these tiny things being so hard to screw in, put all my power into it, broke the threads, had to take the bike to the bike store by car. #learnedmylesson

    Before I got into mountain biking and knew what tire pressure was and just commuted on my bike I used to run my tires at like...10psi. They felt pretty hard to me so I thought it was okay, and then when I got my first pump with a pressure meter I was completely mind blown that my tire wasn't exploding when I got to 30psi
