Visited San Francisco twice in 1999 and 2000. Lovely city and if I lived in California (I live in NYC), it would be San Francisco. A very walkable city as well. Unusual for California.
I’m 56 years old and I am Afro American and grew up on mostly soul music but I always liked Tony’s style of singing, its like a little bit of jazz music mixed in with his style music.
This was playing at a wine bar I was at in San Francisco last week. I walked outside and a cable car flew by with people smiling ear to ear. I followed it and walked to the top of the hill, only to get a panoramic view all the way from the Golden Gate and the Pacific to Alcatraz. Truly immaculate, I couldn't have ask for a better night.

It brings tears of joy to my eyes to see all the young people in the audience so enchanted with Tony and his music. Tony got it right when he said, "Great music never gets old." He sure is proof of that!
I also salute him for his heroics during WWII, Bennett fought with the 63rd Infantry Division 7th Army in France and Germany as a replacement for KIAs in the Bulge.

R. I. P to your mom I just read today he is 95yrs old now and is retiring he cancelled the rest of his show's for the year his last to show's will be in NY Rockefeller lady Gaga tour
I saw him in concert on my 29th birthday back in 2000. He really connected with his audience and put on a classy intimate show. Rest in peace, dear sir. And thank you.
In "local" bars and clubs during the 70s and 80s at about 1:20 or so you'd hear the bartender yell out 'last call' then the juke box would play Tony Bennet singing this masterpiece. Everybody would sing along no matter the age.. Tony's passing today brought back a lot of memories of my young days at The Tip Top , Glen Park Station etc. Rest in Peace Mr Bennett.
As Alzheimer's Disease was shutting down my mother's life, I would play this for her and she would sing along as if she were 60 - although she had no memory left. Happy memories of her last days with us.
+Evan Thompson I'm going to start balling like a big baby now. My older Aunty Audrey loved Tony too, but I wasn't there to see her pass on. She loved Tony.
My cousin met him in Central Park a year after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. She spoke with him on a park bench for 30 minutes and just loved him. Her father... my father and my aunt (father's sister) all suffered from Alzheimer's Disease in their 80's. It takes the ones we love so much. For Tony, he remembered his songs almost to the end. Go back home Tony. Rest In Peace.
Such a simple and lovely song sung so beautifully. When Tony belts out the windy sea line, it gives you chills and brings tears at the same time. RIP to a legend.
Today, Tony Bennett recently passed away at his home in New York City just 13 days before his 97th birthday. He may have left his heart in San Francisco, but he'll always be remembered as a classic icon of music who helps dedicate us and helps us feel and react to his music. In memory of Tony Bennett (1926-2023). :'(
I cried cried..😢😢😢 I worked for SF Giants heard this song, some 1800 times either Live in person Tony or over the PA system at the end of every baseball game. A true San Francisco Son.. RIP 😪💙🙏✨💫
Bennett was on the front lines of history. He was a World War II veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and participated in the liberation of a concentration camp. He marched with Martin Luther King in Selma to support civil rights. He performed for 11 U.S. presidents.
Went to visit San Francisco this past September 18, 2022 - and understood well the meaning and attraction of this beautiful City in Tony Bennett beautiful song. ❤
RIP. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world, Tony. You were a favorite in our family for decades. It's a rare talent where several generations can all love your music at once.

My Dad passed today - November 8th - some 44 yrs ago - but still think of him everyday - he had a fantastic voice - and this is the last song he sang at my sister's weeding in 1968 - I remember it like yesterday. Great man - missed very much
