@Robert Smith different era lol and just not the same. they're both great, but they're kind of mimmicks of the greats of the era that Tony is a part of.
A Master Class in NY Sarcasm. "Let's get really "unplugged". "Can we turn off all the microphones? Thanks..." Then, Maestro Bennett proceeds to draw upon US musical history, from the 1940's through his present, to belt out one of the most poignant of renditions of "Fly Me to the Moon".
Many, many, many years ago, my mother would sing this song when she sang in nightclubs along the Florida coast line. I was just a teenager back then, am now 70 years old, and I now wonder what her dreams must have been when she started singing in nightclubs. I am sure she thought she might one day make it "big"..., but she never did. she was an excellent singer, sand in some of the swankiest places when we lived in Cocoa Beach during the "space" years. But, she got hooked up with an alcoholic piano player, who could play the piano wonderfully when he wasn't drunk, but he was drunk 99.99% of the time. I'm sorry she never "made it big".... RIP Mother. Hope to see you again because I miss you...
This commment is so well writting that, listening to this song right now, I can feel the atmosphere in those nightclubs and imagine the piano player. Hope you see your mama and what an insteresting life to hear must have you live.
Singers NEVER die. I'm a non-professional singer too. My Dad made a working living at singing in the early days (1950's-early 90's) , and I chose a different profession to make a living. We are ALL important, as was your Mom. We bring/brought joy to many in our small circles, and that cannot mean nothing. The fact that we are inspired by greats doesn't make us less than...
So well stated! A voice so belongs with the angels. Mr. Bennett is and has been always a gentleman. A great man is what he wanted to be remembered of...And that's precisely what he was! A Great Man!!
This is my all-time favorite song performance, of any singer, of any genre. This will always be my #1! Tony’s voice was a gift from God and he never took that for granted. He was classy but not stuffy, always remembering his roots. He was a gentleman but no pushover. He was kind and generous, but knew where to draw the line and how to protect his privacy. He never acted the fool. Every celebrity should take a lesson from Tony Bennett.
He always seemed younger than he was. Even though I knew he wouldn’t be around forever, hearing that he passed hit me harder than I expected. His version of Fly Me to the Moon has always been my favorite.
Poets often use many words To say a simple thing It takes thought and time and rhyme To make a poem sing With music and words I've been playing For you I've written a song To make sure you know what I'm saying I'll translate as I go along Fly me to the Moon And let me play among the stars Let me see what spring is like On Jupiter and Mars In other words Hold my hand In other words Darlin', kiss me Fill my heart with song And let me sing forevermore You are all I long for All I worship and adore In other words Please be true In other words I love you
Unbelievable at his old age he hasn't gotten rusty at all still a cool cat with one hell of a sexy and cool voice we don't hear much stuff like that anymore. I miss this type of music. Keep on singing Tony. I'll never get tired of that voice and music. :)
He is such a show off!!! And I love it!!! When you’ve got this level of talent, it would be a sin not to showcase it!!! Mr. Bennett, thanks for sharing your gift with us!!! ☮️🖖🏽
My ex gf years ago used to go nuts when I'd play music when driving. My tastes can go from Black Sabbath to Sinatra to 80's rock to Vivaldi in a minute lol. Listening to music like Tony Bennett gives me a sense of zeitgeist, especially during the holiday seasons.
You know when you’re watching, say, a master carpenter, or an Olympic athlete, or a great chef, and are overcome by the feeling that this person is doing exactly what he or she was meant to do? So with Tony Bennett. A kind and generous man, a gentleman with talent so prodigious, so incomprehensible that it’s a trifle to believe he was put here (and taken back) by God, put here to remind us in our awe that we are all touched by a common spark of the divine. Why else would a simple song bring such emotion, even tears? What an incredible performance from the. Best to ever do it. (Sorry Frank, just one man’s opinion!).
That was belting all the way. He was trained to sing Bel Canto and he is very good at it. He uses his full voice all the way and it does not lose its quality at all. Even now at his advanced age he still has pretty good command and power in his voice. Not common but true with him. He is amazing
May you Rest In Gods Eternal Peace. Your music will live on forever and ever. What a sad day. So many beautiful memories of all your songs. Will live on in our hearts forevermore.
Still one of THE BEST versions sung by an absolutely impeccable vocalist. His delivery, his phrasing, his RANGE... He owns this. Even more than Sinatra does. 🤘
I saw him 4 times in concert. In one performance he sang this without amplification in a much larger venue. His voice filled the theater, like a melodic rollercoaster 🎢 the notes soared to the heights. Thank you Tony.
I was most fortunate to see Tony Bennett live 4 times, in Washington DC, Las Vegas and El Paso, Texas. He has been amazing through the years. Quintessential vocalist and interpreter of beautiful lyrics. We are blessed to have such an artist who did not stay stagnant, but was ever evolving (duos with current artists). Hopefully, I'll catch another wondrous performance soon.
I'm 5 years younger than Tony Bennett and just sang this great song in Aug 2017 on UA-cam--please view--thanks--I remember when Tony sang for a small group of us at the USO on Boston Common--he's a very kind man !
Was on his concert few years ago in Staten Island, NYC, it was packed! The theater is old school, big, around 2,000 people, he sang no mic. Holly Molly, people went crazy man, crazy! Last Legend! He was not number one when Frank ,Sammy and Dean were alive, but who cares, his voice was always better and he still performs when all those guys are gone.
RIP Mr. Bennett. This concert helped expand my musical tastes in the time of Metallica, Nirvana and Alice In Chains. It was a joy to see him be embraced by all music fans then and in the years that follow, especially his collaborations with Lady Gaga. A multigenerational legend. He will be greatly missed.
Tony Bennett is a Gift from God! I heard him sing my absolute favorite song, Fly Me to the Moon, acapella solo no mike no instruments in Montreal for my birthday... thankyou Claude, my university sweetheart, who splurged for a box for the 2 of us! Best Birthday EVER!
Tony had the most beautiful voice. Hearing him reminds me of my loved ones who have since passed. Tony you'll be missed. God bless you, Rest In Peace 🙏
He's the last his kind. Sure, there are great ones out there... but when he's gone, it will truly be the end of an era.
that's so true
This hits hard rn knowing he has dementia .... :(
I couldn't agree more with you. It's life I think. But it hurts so bad...
Exactly. Man sometimes I feel so bad by being born so late.
@Robert Smith different era lol and just not the same. they're both great, but they're kind of mimmicks of the greats of the era that Tony is a part of.
Rest in peace, Tony. One of the all-time greats. One of a kind.
Just makes one feel good. thanks tony

It’s not just his voice. It’s the way he invites you into his world like a dear old friend.
YES:)
Mr. Bennett is an American treasure who will be sorely missed.
Keep singing and swinging in Heaven Dear Man.

@728huey and he’s flying with the shooting stars as well.
So well stated! A voice so belongs with the angels. Mr. Bennett is and has been always a gentleman. A great man is what he wanted to be remembered of...And that's precisely what he was! A Great Man!!
Rest in peace, Mr. Bennett!
The fact that he has such a powerful voice at his age its so impressive, its literally breathtaking. This performance is top tear.
it was like he was still at his peak at mid to late 60's.
I agree, but this was recorded in 1994.
I saw Tony perform this acapella mic-less version live in 2014 when he was 86….even more powerful in person
@@MrElevatormusic99Nevertheless, he was 66, what a voice...
Even his short bit of this song with lady gaga was amazing range
No microphone and sure as hell no autotune! That's how you do it! R.I.P.
Jesus Christ! Tony Bennett is absolutely stunning.
I thought I read somewhere a quote by Sinatra saying Bennett was the absolute best.
frank sinatra said Tony was the best in the business
I saw him do this 4 times in Concert. The power in filling a concert hall with no amplification was humbling to hear.
Rest in peace and thank you for your magic voice.
이런걸 보면서 느끼는건 유튜브에 감사함을 느낌...
This is my all-time favorite song performance, of any singer, of any genre. This will always be my #1!

His voice will live on forever! Just listen to this with no microphone!!! Amazing voice
Boy, he was great. There will never be another artist like Tony Bennett.
He always seemed younger than he was. Even though I knew he wouldn’t be around forever, hearing that he passed hit me harder than I expected. His version of Fly Me to the Moon has always been my favorite.
Today, he’s flown away to the moon. Amazing, once in a lifetime Artist for all time.
Class, class, class, class, class, class.... greatness....Tony Bennett
This hits different today on the day of his passing. Thank you for sharing your Soul in voice and music. Your voice will live eternally.
How effortlessly he goes from speaking to singing is incredible.
R.I.P. to this amazing person.
He never lost his voice.
RIP Tony! Thanks for these songs. They'll last forever like your memory!
Poets often use many words
To say a simple thing
It takes thought and time and rhyme
To make a poem sing
With music and words I've been playing
For you I've written a song
To make sure you know what I'm saying
I'll translate as I go along
Fly me to the Moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words
Hold my hand
In other words
Darlin', kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words
Please be true
In other words
I love you
What a voice, Mr Bennett you sure are a legend.
He is the last of the great ones. Being a ballroom dancer, Tony, Frank, Dean, Louie, Ella and more are classics and their music will never die.
Unbelievable at his old age he hasn't gotten rusty at all still a cool cat with one hell of a sexy and cool voice we don't hear much stuff like that anymore. I miss this type of music. Keep on singing Tony. I'll never get tired of that voice and music. :)
His voice always drives me to tears. He moves me and humbles my soul. Reminds me of my daddy. We love you Mr. Bennett 🥹❤️
he put a lot of emotion in when he sang and it gets us down deep.
You will sing forever more, Mr. Bennett. God bless you.
R.I.P. Tony. Thanks for all the amazing music. You will be missed.
Tipazo Tony Bennett.... 😪🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏QPD...
meet him in Beverly HIlls while working at Speedo, such a great guy so down to earth, no air about him.
RIP to the last of his kind, what a voice, legend.
He is such a show off!!! And I love it!!! When you’ve got this level of talent, it would be a sin not to showcase it!!! Mr. Bennett, thanks for sharing your gift with us!!! ☮️🖖🏽
still the best. altho I love Sinatra and Martin, Tony Bennett has one of the smoothest most melodic voices in the world.
I agree!

There will never be another like him. RIP Tony.
당신과 함께 숨쉬는 시대에 살아갈 수 있음이 영광입니다. 평안히 잠드소서.

Tony Bennett can sing up to B flat really easily in the tenor range was he belting or mixing (1:41, 2:02). Tony Bennett is such a legend alright.
That was belting all the way. He was trained to sing Bel Canto and he is very good at it. He uses his full voice all the way and it does not lose its quality at all. Even now at his advanced age he still has pretty good command and power in his voice. Not common but true with him. He is amazing
RIP Tony B. You were one of the greatest stars of the music universe. You will be missed.
RIP Tony Bennett. Thanks for showing everybody how it's done.
:( :( RIP Tony!!!! We love u!!!! This is true singing,..... I am truly sad.......
May you Rest In Gods Eternal Peace. Your music will live on forever and ever. What a sad day. So many beautiful memories of all your songs. Will live on in our hearts forevermore.
Tony Bennett absolutely owning this song and arrangement but Ralph Sharon on piano is a musical genius too.
Still one of THE BEST versions sung by an absolutely impeccable vocalist. His delivery, his phrasing, his RANGE... He owns this. Even more than Sinatra does. 🤘
I Agree.
Loo
The best.
Frank Sinatra was asked many times who he listens to. He always said Tony Bennett
I saw him 4 times in concert. In one performance he sang this without amplification in a much larger venue. His voice filled the theater, like a melodic rollercoaster 🎢 the notes soared to the heights. Thank you Tony.

Very sincere performance which we rarely find in new artists today.
That is what singing and talent are all about; unplugged and with a terrific powerful clean voice, Tony Bennet was in a league of his own.

RIP may he "sing forevermore"
Happy Birthday, Mr. Bennett!
Had the great privilege to see Tony play the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on two occasions. One word sums up both performances. Immaculate
When you see and read the definition of class and style , and it turns into a human form, you will get the great Tony Bennett.
I finally get it: Tony Bennett exuded LOVE, LOVE, and more LOVE.
And also happiness, and gratefulness.
AND was an amazing singer!
A class act. Gonna miss you, Tony. Lighting a candle and listening to you now. ❤❤
Great singer. Great man. Great human. And always great hair.

One of the sweetest renditions of "Fly Me to the Moon."
Maybe you can see the moon from where you are now Tony, fly high and rest easy.
he made me smile for 2 minutes, hes so good....
My Dad adored Tony Bennett and I miss him so much.
I LOVE TONY BENNETT!
I honestly don't know of many modern artists that could turn off all of the electronics and sound so perfect. Just a voice and a piano. RIP Tony
My love for this version of Fly Me to the Moon. Absolute love.
