I was born in 52 and while growing up I listened to the radio and my parents records. Tony Bennett was part of that record collection and always on the radio. Being a 'baby boomer' the music of my day would have been and is the 'British Invasion' and all other music from the 60's and 70's. There was something about Mr. Bennett and all others of his genre that just stuck with me. I was fortunate enough to meet him a number of years ago when I worked as a limo driver. An absolute gentleman. Thank goodness for Tony Bennett.
Here at age 65, when most singers are losing their range and their vibrato starts to waver a bit too much, Tony is still in his prime. And the trio he had at this time with Ralph Sharon at the piano had to be the best in the business. THIS, is music. THIS is what a great singer sounds like. No effects, dancing girls, or other nonsense. Just a man with a mans voice, singing his heart out.
And moreover, the very last song is sung without a mic! In a such big theater with such a crowd, that's a real performance. Sensible AND technical ... without any showing off.
@@fabienraynaut3645 I saw Tony at the Lakeland civic center theater around the time of this video. He did a full 2 hour show. The 1st hour with just the trio and the 2nd hour he added a string quartet. He also did Fly Me to the Moon without a mic at the end of the show. It was the best concert I've ever been to and I've seen all the greats including Sinatra, Vic Damone, Steve Lawrence etc..
@@motorman857 Well, Tony is a giant. Wish I could see him before it's too late, but I'm afraid he'll never come back to France. Missed him for his last time in Paris. Too bad for me!
Love him! Thank you UA-cam participants for posting some of his concerts. Made me smile again after the sad news of his passing. His music will live forever.
I just learned of Tony Bennett's passing the day and a friend sent me this link when I told him how sad I was because Tony Bennett always reminded me of San Francisco, where my family came from Ireland and made San Francisco their home.. so I think my wonderful awesome and precious friend Mike Thompson for this wonderful gift and thank you Tony Bennett for all the joy you brought my family and me I shall never forget you! xx 😘
I was 13 when this song came out, just past my elementary & on to high school. I’m almost in my eighties & still can still sing every word of this song!!
I cannot help but feel, after following Tony Bennett most of my long life, that he was in the best voice of his career for this concert! You cannot say enough about how much Ralph Sharon contributed to his career with his skilled orchestration, arrangements and guidance in choice of music to be sung!
Yes, agree. And he was 66 years old here. And was still great a decade later. What other singer, in any genre, sounded their best so late in life? Only Tony.
Absolutely agree. At his best here and at this age with the best quartet he ever had behind him. If you see nothing else of Tony Bennett, see this concert.
Always Quality with a smile and NEVER fails to introduce musicians behind him, dignity personified, BE AT PEACE TONY dont fully rest Dear Sir resonate eternal thankyou forever ❤❤❤
I totally agree. The best gift I ever gave my Dad, was to get him 6th row, center seats from the stage , to see the magnificent Tony Bennett and then to sneak my Mom and Dad down to his dressing room to meet him in Louisville, Kentucky in 1992. My Dad, who was such a gentleman and dressed so smartly, just like Mr. Bennett, said, "I've never seen anyone enjoy their work as much as Mr. Bennett." and isn't that the truth . What a treasure we have in this man. Thank you Tony.

@@HIGHERPRAISEQT Yes! I was able to see him in Texas a couple years ago and loved every minute. Then at the end of a wonderful encore his last song was a capella and off microphone! I think it was "I left my heart" and the hall became so still, no one dared breathe or rustle a sound. I choked up and felt an intimacy that was so rare as to be impossible, yet there he was, un-mic-ed. I will never forget it.
TONY BENNETT IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EVER. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE HIM LIVE SEVERAL TIMES. IF THE OPPORTUNITY COMES TO SEE HIM, BREAK THE BANK TO DO IT!!!
He came out at every performance and sang as though it was the first time he sang these songs. He was the consummate professional. I was fortunate enough to see him in person several times. There will never be another Tony Bennett.
Diifícilmente surja un artista de estos kilates nuevamente, junto con Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole y Ella Fitzgerald lo mejor que he podido escuchar en mi vida. Larga vida a Tony, el último de estos genios.

Priceless! One of the greats still on our earth. Great read “Amore” by Mark Rotella - he mentions Mr. B. & tells the story of the Italian American Singers who made it big during those golden years ♥️ not an easy climb.

Sure thing. This enduring Jazz Crooner can't fail to lift your dampened spirits.
Just watched him do a show yesterday in Evansville, Indiana. He's still touring at 93 and still very good.
I was there and couldn't agree more. Seeing Tony was on my bucket list, and at 93 he more than made it worth the wait.

I had tickets for Seattle in September... he got sick so they canceled it, really hoping to see him
