    Well I had to at least try to melt gold with a butane torch. I have given in and I am purchasing an electric kiln but you cannot do it even with a gas stove underneath and a butane torch on. The top the goal just got stuck in the stupid crucible..

    Oh finally they get straight to the answer and don’t make a 10 minute video on it.

      @@theprospectingcollector it’s not you it’s other creators they always find ways to turn the shortest answer into a 10 minute video but you get straight to the point, thanks 😅

    I actually own that Jo chef torch and I melt small gold just fine. Yes there are WAY better forms to melt. But it melts fine. And as for the gold being stuck. I've ran into that at first. I found that proper flux and also keeping heat on it while moving the button helps.

    lol with small amount yes you can, whenever I go to my local river, I always melt what I found at the end of the night with the butane torch before I go home

    that crucible is way too shallow, all the heat in the air around it will just escape and won't maintain temperature. i use a high-back deep dish without any flux and it melts super fast.

    Did you season the crucible?

    You didn’t season the crucible and you probably didn’t use quality borax flux, likely used cheap trash you got online

      Idk. Borax glandular 5Mol, technical grade, for professional use only. It's not laundry detergent from Walmart. Be nice

    isnt that a crucible problem and not a torch problem?

      i don't believe so. i've seen videos of folks using welding torches and this little bowl crucible. I thought I could save $$ by using butane and my stove, but i was WRONG.....i'm pretty much always wrong with my ideas 🙂

      @@theprospectingcollector it doesn’t look like that crucible is glazed. You should have sprinkled borax in the crucible and melted it repeatedly until it was glazed. Then attempt melting the gold

      @@ThePlatinumKing1735 I did put borax in it. But you know it was the first time I ever tried it. And I just don't think I did it right. I appreciate the suggestion. No, thank you very much for that.

      @theprospectingcollector  Рік тому

      haha - i didn't. it has to be melted out. What I may do is break it and put the pieces with the gold in my Vevor Furnace....couple vids on that on my channel. maybe that will work. It's not even a grams worth, but it's still gold. 🙂
