From a Colleyville kid, yall were amazing!! I loved the music and yalls unirforms were so cool. I was so confused whenever they didnt call yall for finals announcements, so glad yall were able to work it out!
Very insightful video. I am a band director training to be a judge in California and this definitely makes me realize the gravity and impact that this job will have. Your band looks and sounds fantastic by the way! You can tell great teaching is happening in all captions, all around. Keep it up!
Hello i'm in the colleyville heritage high school marching band, you guys did awesome and best of luck for your next competitions :) hope to see you guys in the next competition as well!
Who was on the judging panel? I couldn’t find it in the PoC website. I’m just curious to what kinds of conceptual approaches may have been factored into the judging. Also, didn’t you all know the scoring system before entering into the contest? I ask because there wasn’t any description of scoring style on the website either🙄. Overall, it sounds like they were going for some type of modified UIL system to provide general feedback (hopefully from seasoned TX professionals who’ve done this for decades) given how long it’s been between marching seasons which is a good thing. However, the drawback is that marching programs today require more focus on specific elements than shows 5-10 years ago and when you ask judges to adjudicate such a wide range of elements, you get volatility in scoring and placements. I’m glad I found your channel, you have a new sub!
Judges: 300 pts Music and Visual: Scott Coulson, Joe Pruitt, and Evelio Villarreal (100 for Brass, 100 for Woodwinds, and 100 for Visual) 50 pts - Percussion: Michael Holland 50 pts - Color Guard: Michael Shapiro We chose that show because we knew that a lot of the bands we want to be competitive with would be there. I'm not upset with the particularly upset with the judges scores, but rather the system that was used. Like I said at the end of the video, even on the US Bands, BOA, and UIL Area/State sheets, they separate music and visual. It's hard to pay attention to both and to be expected to give a score for both. In my opinion, it is difficult not to become focused on one musical or visual idea, and let that bias your opinion of the other parts of the score. Thanks for the sub!
THE DRUM MAJOR SALUTE WAS BRILLIANT 😭😭
I 100% agree!
Happy birthday Trevor!!

We were stoked to be so close to your score after prelims. You guys must have had an amazing run at Finals. It'll be fun chasing you guys this year!
watching this the night before my band’s 3rd competition of the season!😃
I hope it went well!
@@thefuturemillionairebanddi4528 it went fairly well. We made it to finals and placed 7th out of 8 bands.

Oh wow! Interesting! Good luck with that! It can be tricky if the sheet makes you adjudicate multiple captions at the same time. I don't envy you!
As a midlothian kid, yall's show was amazing!! You can really see the effort these kids have put in! I hope to see ya'll more of yall!!
You guys are going to be tough to beat this year! You guys made our area so much more challenging!! We’ll see you down the road this month, I’m sure.
Our school did a percussion contest yesterday and we did a clinic with the judge after we preformed and he really gave me some good tips.
A clinic on a Saturday?! That's commitment!
@@thefuturemillionairebanddi4528 it is and yes sir it said on the itinerary 12 pm preform and clinic from judge
Yall had finals? finals in McAllen were cancelled beacuse of hot weather and prelims were postphoned untill 7:30 that day
We got lucky with perfect weather yesterday. That's a bummer that you missed out on Finals!

Maybe I need to bring cookies to the judges (with a calculator) instead of the directors next time lol
Though I cannot condone judge bribing... I'm not going to stop it, lol 🤷♂️ (I KID! I KID!!)

My question is how do you mess up the name “Burleson High School Band” with “Burleson Centennial Band”
Lack of attention to detail 🤷♀️
Did you know Takashi 69 is a multimillionaire platinum selling artist and your not 📉
Wut?
