I've enjoyed watching your videos here and there for the peek into Texas band culture and your perspectives -- wishing you the best on the journeys ahead.
Thanks for the video man - as a suggestion if you are not doing it already, play your instrument, take lessons, perform when you can and even take on a few side private students. Your music passion can be fulfilled in many different ways. A high school gig is very time consuming. This is one reason why I teach middle school band as it provides in my opinion a better chance to live a balanced life. I too as well put family first with my wife and two daughters. Anyhow, good luck sir and thanks again for sharing!
Appreciate your video! I recently left my assistant job for my own priorities such as family, mental health, and own musical interests but have a dream to be a lesson teacher somewhere in TX or where ever. I’m nervous to have left but luckily teching at my former student teaching school just with awesome percussion students and building my own studio back at my old drum teacher’s store. I might be auditioning for possible masters schools in TX cuz I wanna get in the area in anyway I can. Do you have any advice on how to be a lesson teacher? Best of luck in your new adventure!
There’s always schools looking for lesson teachers. You may have to start at a smaller school, but you should definitely be able to find a job. Especially as a percussionist.
Old job score: 17.5/30
New job score: 22/30
After just three months - a 4.5 improvement!
