You would indicate that they are unemployed write student and for parents that are deceased, you would write "n/a deceased"

She's wrong. This is only if the beneficiary had an immigration court proceeding.

No, it wouldn't be considered a petition for K-1. K-1 is an non-immigrant visa category that requires form I134.
