I've lived in England for a couple years, and can say definitively that their Nov. 5th is very similar to our July 4th. Though, instead of a bunch of barbequing, they had a large number of food vendors set up shacks near a very, very large bonfire.

Yes Daz, we do like Brits. Although Americans are very patriotic, nobody is thinking about a war that happened almost 250 years ago. The 4th of July is flag waving, parades, family get-togethers, cookouts, a day off from work, and blowing shit up. Americans and Brits are all good now, so no worries.

True, Virgina has given us many great artists but the sessions were held in Tn. (google it.) Being from Nashville it's hard for me to say we were not the birthplace but we did take over with our recording studios years later. Little known fact Nashville almost lost out on those recording studios (Capital, Sony, Warner Brothers, etc.) as in the late 60's the studios were packing up shop for Texas. Growing up in Missouri, I was taught that early on in America's history there was a pamphlet trying to bring Germans over to America that described Missouri as being extremely similar to German in climate. I believe there were similar campaigns to draw immigrants from other states to other European countries. It is interesting to me at least.

I’m a wine and spirits educator in the US, and going to clarify some things.
Whiskey - spirit distilled from grain at less than 95% alcohol.
Bourbon - whiskey made in the US (not just Kentucky) from a mash of at least 51% corn and stored in charred new oak containers.
Tennessee whiskey - essentially a Bourbon produced specifically in Tennessee and filtered through sugar maple charcoal. (One producer exempted from the sugar maple filtration). The process IS intense, and I recommend the JD distillery tour to anyone going through Tennessee. Even if you don’t love JD. Haven’t been to Dickel or the others though.

Actually Jack Daniels is a bourbon. It is not a Tennessee bourbon. A bourbon only requires a certain way of being distilled. Two requirements are 1. That it be made of at least 51% corn. 2. That it be aged in new charred oak barrels and 3. That it does not contain any other flavorings or artificial coloring other than what it gets from the barrel.
To be certified as a “Kentucky Bourbon” it has to be made in Bourbon County Kentucky.

Original has always been my weakness. Don’t think I’ve ever opened a bottle without killing it and making a damn fool of myself

I am from Bardstown Kentucky. The bourbon capital of the world. I live 15 miles from 15 or 20 different bourbon distilleries! If you ever come to the US, and like to drink. Come during the Bourbon Festival! Every year around September

Jack and Coke is my favorite drink and it is perfectly acceptable to order one. If I was ordering a regular whiskey and coke then I would absolutely get a well whiskey. But, JD is such a unique flavor there is no replacement in my opinion.

Annapolis is a fun place. Home of the USNA. Go a little south in Anne Arundel County or especially Calvert County near the water and experience old school country you don't find our of the original colonies.

Funny Story..now...An older family friend once was going to see Pink Floyd in concert with us when I was 13, back in '88. He had a gift box of Jack Daniels..the one in an aluminum box that has a bottle and 2 sipping glasses..sitting in the back of his hatchback...in mid-summer...in Texas. He had me go down and get it and said he would give me a shot, while my mom was in the shower getting ready. So, not realizing that this Jack Daniels was probably about 120 degrees F after sitting in the sun all day, I took a big shot of it. I am not sure I have ever seen anyone laugh that hard in my life. I thought he had killed me.
