You can either put a counterpart of the character but not a replacement of the character. You can make the character branch out and have another persona created from it. Like kane from undertaker. But you can't replace any superstar in wwe.
It wasn't just that. There was the whole CM Punk podcast thing with the whole him going over the shield in a 3 on 1 handicap match and getting told to make Roman Reigns look strong. When that got out, it was the beginning of Reigns getting booed. Reigns was firmly cheered before that time even when the Shield were heels.

I've been a WWF/WWE fan since the late 70s til the mid 90s. Each and every wrestler has their own skills and style of wrestling. Thanks for the memories WWF/WWE.
What about the Successors that were better than the original? "The Patriot" Del Wilkes (RIP) had the mask and feuded with Bret Hart. His entrance music and All American gimmick went to Kurt Angle who had far more success. Nobody seems to remember this.
Though no one has ever done it better than Chyna, “shaniqua” looked the most interesting to me personally. Just like Chyna, she looks massive, yet gorgeous. Still though, I can’t help but think the handle “shaniqua” is a really stereotypical way to cast a massive black woman. Feels really lazy and puts her persona in a box.
In today’s world, if she were still around, her name would probably have been changed… Now I think using characters who embody certain stereotypes, when used correctly, can be funny (think Dave Chappell) and entertaining (wwe). I think people need to calm down a bit and realize not all examples stereotypes are racist. Stereotypes are meant to portray over-exaggerated characteristics of a person’s race, sex, gender, or religion. Just because Dave Chappelle is portraying a white person as having a serious/robotic toned with sticks up their asses does not mean he is asserting that is how all white people act. It’s an exaggeration on what a white newscaster acts like and has some truth to its portrayal. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone but look at his portrayal of a black person. Loud, arrogant, with a less harsh tone. It’s an exaggeration of a few characteristics the average black person tends to have. For some people that’s how they act, for others it’s completely opposite. Learn to laugh at yourself….
Cesaro doesn't get pushed because Vince McMahon is racist. He openly stated that 'because he's Swiss he has no charisma' on a Stone Cold podcast. He needs someone to do the talking for him and he'd be good to go.
people dont seem to understand luchador wrestlers or wrestling so every time a new one is introduced they always compare them with rey mysterio like this dude mentioning sinn cara wearing a mask was like dude luchador wrestlers wear masks thats what they do

Sid's character arc was so uncommon for the time. I loved hating him so much that I cheered for him too. I thought the Sid Justice gimmick was a little corny but funny nonetheless.
Is this guy for real? We’re you even around back then? Sids matches were average at best but the man was over as hell and wwe didn’t have a choice but to put the title on Sid.
I agree. Sid always had huge pops easily wherever he went. The crowds loved him while Diesel was forced on the fans and wasn't a great performer for main events. It's just that at the time that Sid was pushed the fans wanted something different. Diesel had already worn us down as champion with his lackluster matches and they wanted something opposite to yet another giant champion of about the same height with the same finishing move and nothing out of the ordinary. It was simply bad timing for him and not built in Sid's advantage. Undertaker on the other hand was always more agile, eccentric and charismatic.
707IRANK GTAV I wouldn’t say that. Sid was getting cheered as a hell against Hogan and a couple of years later, he was getting massive pops again as champion. Diesel was kind of boring for a “cool guy”.
That Sid Justice gimmick was corny. They could've developed him like Mankind. Mankind was a character that nobody needed to like, which is why we liked him. He never did an official face turn, we just went along for the ride and it was organic.

The great khali was ways so clumsy in the ring, even though he was like 150 lbs lighter than the big show and about the same height. The big show was versitle and was actually athletic for his 7ft 383-500lb frame. The great khali was given a huge win over the undertaker and won the gold within his first year in the company, but had little talent as a pro wrestler, while the big show has been used to put people like john cena and the rock over with the fans. It took big show so much effort for him to earn the championship that people started to assume that he just wasn't capable of winning a title. Personally, (in my opinion) the big show is the most unappreciated and disrespected WWE future hall of famer of all time.
Vince McMahon wasn't as good as people think. He liked to copy a lot of the successful things of the past and it never worked. It insulted the intelligence of the fans. Wrestlers such as Stone Stone built themselves in the days when wrestlers had more freedom. When Vince tried to raise a megastar artificially, It just didn't lead to it

I disagree. Sid was over and was even more over than "Diesel"
But i think their point is he didnt work out as a replacenent for shawns bodyguard. That was a better more nstural fit for nash.
Sid (back when he was still Sid Justice) was also groomed to be the next Hulk Hogan
No way I remember. Not over more then diesel. Diesel got big money.
@@docholidae4471 Sid Main evented 2 Wrestlemanias. He was big money!
Khali shouldn't be in this list. He wasn't brought to replace Big show. He had his own Charisma and he established his own name, there was no any similarity between him and Big show except in height, and bcoz of height u can't say that he was brought to replace Big show.Later he was sidelined because of some problems in his leg.
Exactly...
The wrestling channels like this always want rant on how terrible khali was in every possible way....which become annoying
Khali is joke but not biggie than jinder mahal
The great khali was a mediocre wrestler and had the charisma of a candy bracelet
@@SnowMountain-mb6nb i actually prefer Jinder than The Great Khali. I think Jinder looks and feels like a mid cardder with those bodyguards and i think The Great Khali was a very big and tall mistake.

I find it hard to believe he thought that Mcgee guy was the next Hogan lol. Khali was definitely not " the next big show" lol. There's never been any next. They are all individuals
Sid's WWE title match against Shawn at Survivor Series 1996 was great and he was very over at the time. Not a failure at all.
This channel has a smark bias.
Also, him saying the fans didn't like SID winning the WWE title from Shawn makes it come off like he didn't watch the match.
@@Connect200 I agree completely. From NWA, wwe/wwf both times, WCW, ECW…Sid was always over with the fans
That match was very good.
I kinda liked Sid lol

I knew I remembered a "white Undertaker". Just couldn't remember his name!! Man that dude was a beast, wish he would've stayed longer
He did come back as Kevin thorn in ecw but it didn't work out
You forgot jack swagger with his "all American American" gimmick which I guess is a replacement for Kurt Angle. He even used ankle-lock as his finishing move.
good call
But swagger was dope
You can either put a counterpart of the character but not a replacement of the character.
You can make the character branch out and have another persona created from it. Like kane from undertaker. But you can't replace any superstar in wwe.
I was actually disappointed when Mordecai was dropped I loved the gimick.
It actually seems like a good idea
Right!! I thought for sure they were going to have a Demon of Death Valley vs Angel of whatever term PPV

13:02 they were booing not because he was the next Cena, but because they wanted Daniel Bryan to win.
And WWE was right not to make Daniel Bryan win, because he got injured a few months later and retired for 3 years
It wasn't just that.
Yea...others say Reigns pose be the "new" Rock !
Modecai had a lot of potential. As I kid I was so excited for a anti-matter vs matter fight between him and undertaker. If I recall they gave the character like 2 weeks of time on-air and he was gone.
Shame.
I’m really sorry that things with Sin Cara didn’t work out, he seemed promising. His mask always reminded me of a luchador Power Ranger.
I’m especially sorry things didn’t work out with Mordecai. I think he would’ve made a great antagonist for Undertaker.
Hunico is a good wrestler aswell...

They wanted Roman Reigns as a main babyface for years. That's where they failed
Vince mcmahon sees a guy wrestling in red and yellow... "that guys the next hogan"
That one confused me too. He didn't seem like Hogan at all in that match
I've been a WWF/WWE fan since the late 70s til the mid 90s.
Each and every wrestler has their own skills and style of wrestling.
Thanks for the memories WWF/WWE.
Mid 90s? What about the attitude era which began in 1997 and ended in 2002? That's when it was most popular.
Also, Ryback being the next Goldberg worked. Both were just big guys who looked good for the business, but neither could work to save their lives
It’s wwe tho
WWE always been racist lol
In today’s world, if she were still around, her name would probably have been changed…
Now I think using characters who embody certain stereotypes, when used correctly, can be funny (think Dave Chappell) and entertaining (wwe).
I think people need to calm down a bit and realize not all examples stereotypes are racist. Stereotypes are meant to portray over-exaggerated characteristics of a person’s race, sex, gender, or religion.
Just because Dave Chappelle is portraying a white person as having a
serious/robotic toned with sticks up their asses does not mean he is asserting that is how all white people act.
@Ethan k I wouldn't be surprised if they actually did that
Cesaro should have been given more time to connect with the audience...idk why they kept pushing reigns
Cesaro doesn't get pushed because Vince McMahon is racist. He openly stated that 'because he's Swiss he has no charisma' on a Stone Cold podcast. He needs someone to do the talking for him and he'd be good to go.
@@ShiningJudgment666 i rememver that interview..that's fucked up...cesaro had alot going for him...he is legit the strongest pound for pound in wwe.

Bray Wyatt couldnt been something special but nope. They ruined him.
Sid was extremely popular. The WWE wanted him to be a heel but people usednto cheer him.
Ya Sid was popular for in wcw
Sid's character arc was so uncommon for the time. I loved hating him so much that I cheered for him too. I thought the Sid Justice gimmick was a little corny but funny nonetheless.

I think Sid was actually more over than Diesel.
They were about the same
I agree...the only thing he was not big in wwe...but he was the man in wcw
707IRANK GTAV I wouldn’t say that. Sid was getting cheered as a hell against Hogan and a couple of years later, he was getting massive pops again as champion. Diesel was kind of boring for a “cool guy”.

That Sid Justice gimmick was corny. They could've developed him like Mankind. Mankind was a character that nobody needed to like, which is why we liked him. He never did an official face turn, we just went along for the ride and it was organic.

The Undertaker :-- You challange me, I'll make you famous.

Well we can say Ryback fit the role of next goldberg since he was unsafe in the ring too
The great khali was ways so clumsy in the ring, even though he was like 150 lbs lighter than the big show and about the same height.
When Vince tried to raise a megastar artificially, It just didn't lead to it
I remember being legit excited to see Mordecai. The promos made him look huge and then when he came out, compared to Undertaker, he was the size of Danzig.
Mr McMahon looking at Tom Magee with lust in his eyes at 1:51 is hilarious.
Mordecai's gimmick was stallen from a Scottish wrestler called Conscience. They was both at the wwe tryout.
Jason Jordan as Angle's son literally has to be the worst one, how is this not even on the list??

I actually really liked Mordecai back in the day. His few matches were pretty brutal. Too bad that didn't pan out.
