I've talked with Barry many times at the WSOP and he is one of the nicest approachable guys I've ever met. He will talk strategy or golf and he is so genuine.
I don’t get these dude’s hating on Barry. He seems like a really genuine, humble guy who has lived an extraordinary life. They say he’s an egomaniac, well, to some extent you have to be to play at his level. But he admitted to going broke, mismanaging his finances by making bad investments and even to being outplayed. 100% good dude.
Haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but to be fair, I'm pretty sure Barry could spend an hour or more telling a single story 😅. Check out his podcasts with joeingram1. They're fantastic and the interviewer is great at just letting Barry talk.
I've only listened to half an hour. I've learned that Barry was the best player in his position in Baseball at his age group in the entire continental United States. He's a scratch golfer. He took more courses than anyone in the history of the U.S collegiate school system. He was the best low ball player in the world. He was the best at the "game of school." He considered doing a PHD in advanced mathematics, which is something that and I think I'm being generous 1% of the worlds population are capable of completing just because well he liked maths. The company he was working for wouldn't let him leave, because he and he alone was the only thing stopping them from going under. He single handily invented the word processor. I mean what's in store for the rest. Barry built a theoretical model of the universe in his basement, because this one time he had 5 minutes to spare.........
Hey! He didn't single handedly invent the word processor, he just made a lighter, more performant version while competing solo against multiple teams of 20+ silicon valley megacorp level engineers, taking no sleep or breaks as lesser men would. But that's just because he was the #1 software engineer in Silicon Valley, as evidenced by his close & personal friend Bill Gates' multiple attempts to personally hire him at 2x salary, which Barry rejected for noble reasons. Legend has it that Bill laments the rejection to this day. Still love Barry though for whatever reason his outrageous brags don't annoy me
Yeah. His baseball bullshit is a non-story. It’s so irrelevant that i don’t care if he’s making up the story or not. Lol. It’s worse than “i was the man in high school” yeah ok?

@Joey Dunlop I can name a few that are total assholes
