two tries on defense would improve this contest immensely.
Yep.. There's way too much variety on Mini available for only 1 try. And the commentary is annoying
WOAAAHHWW an Indy Back D?!?!? 🙄🙄🙄🙄
,, they can be enthusiastic without pretending everything is the best trick ever. Its disingenuous, along with the constant passive aggressive digs at Andy. this is exactly how he skates, what did they expect??
Commentary was pretty much all about Andy. Bordon crushes it as well.
yeah but they were funny, a little of bit of salt for the weirdness of Andy... I couldn't agree more btw
Josh Borden main business is in the big bowl. 👍
Messi Ronald Andy
We got a hater
Big difference between skating for the freedom and skating competition bud
people so mad andy does tricks his opponent can’t do, that’s literally the point of the competition. andy has all the classics too but isn’t gonna waste time when offense switches off regardless of a make. y’all hate but he’s the one putting in the work to consistently land tricks no one’s ever seen before
The problem is he was doing very similar tricks exposing one weakness ("button masher"-style combos) and then a bunch of weird tricks that were not that difficult.
If he did difficult tricks but they all were very different, no one would've minded
@@Stem667 That's just his strategies to win this round. So, it's fine he did that.
@@hardrockertoygraphy it's not just any sporting competition, there is some etiquette to it.
Ideally you want to win gracefully, by doing difficult and varied tricks that look good, and not by exploiting the same trick type over and over, esp. if it is a weird looking trick.
Although you might not agree with me and think anything goes.
@@Stem667I mean bottom line you play to win the game.
Andy can do all the traditional tricks too. The difference is freestyle. He brings it into all skating including his transition skating. He doesn’t see street, vert, and freestyle separately, and he is constantly creating. He is also by far one of the nicest people I have ever skated with.
Andy knows so many tricks he has to write them down.
he really doesnt have to do this- it was for a single contest- he just 4 generations of flow everywhere else
There, fixed, thanks.@@rbeforme
He has to write it down because he does silly shit that is made up combinations of other tricks
@@Cameldactyl No need to hate, literally every trick is made up of another trick, we'd literally have 4 flip tricks if variations etc weren't a thing
@@TheJollyAlex to look at these tricks and say they are not silly contrived nonsense tricks is insane man. Old heads out here just dick sucking Andy because of his mid life crisis style grinds he concocts.
Probably about how a game of skate against Rodney Mullen in the 90s went lol.
No, i think Mullen would have been a better sport, by and large. Most skaters know that they have some weird tricks they can pull out for an easy letter, so a gentleman doesn't do that crap.
@@SeeSawMassacre Agreed. Mullen is 🔥
@@SeeSawMassacre yeah like one letter trick that you know you got on your opponent not all five letters being, front smith to back smith to front blunt to revert to merlin twist. Still cool stuff tho
@@SeeSawMassacre "would have been a gentleman"?
What?? Thankfully there is plenty of video showing Mullen doing exactly that. Do you think when Rodney was doing those tricks in the 80s anyone else could do them? Short answer, no. That's why everyone stopped to watch. Even the ramp skaters.
@@bellofortis2020 That was a different, let alone more serious, kind of competition. It's frowned upon to do really weird tricks in a game of skate because it forces your opponent to try them, and any dope can learn a few weird tricks that they know their opponent won't be able to do. In a run-style contest you can do whatever you want and it doesn't really affect your opponents. It's a lot different.
I feel like for the next tournament, if a set is done on the extended quarter, the one trying to copy the set should also have to do it in the extended quarter...
i used to see josh at the vans indoor park in orange ca skating the combi bowl everytime i was skating there back in the day.. sick to see him still out there skating
This series is incredible
SO much fun watching.
so glad this mini ramp comp exists... it s nice.. can push it how u wish
hahaha, for mi thats a big ramp :(
Both of them are absolute legends
Never heard of Josh and been skating since 07
I don't want this to end, amazing game!
Josh was killing it, we all know Andy was gonna be more creative and do tricks only he thinks of/can do
/thinks are cool/wants to see in reality
Nice game! 1 foot fakie disaster is a Todd Falcon signature move 🦅💥 He was doing them at Lake Owen Woodward in 2002
You know Matt Ramiller??
Josh Borden was not enjoying this lmaoo
wouldn't of blamed him if he dropped in skated off the mini and right out the door shaking his head
I don't know why but you really got me with, "Can you use that in a sentence?" Bahaha 🤣
Did feel like a spelling bee when Andy skated, and was about as watchable.
@@Ateamdeferred I assume you must really like spelling bees. Or is it the opposite, you just don't understand what's going on as both of these things happen?
"The Thinker" lmao
Such a sick game
josh is so bummed, andy was playing ridiculous
for me, 2 tries for defense (like at sldes&grinds) would be much nicer here!! but still like it tho..
Yeah and there is so much tricks in mini like that, even 3 tries would not shock me at all... This poor guys have one try to learn a new trick is not enough
Word, Slides and Grinds rules!!
and it says in the rules- last letter gets two attempts- wth
Only the people who are old enough will know the comment "That's not made for that.".🤣
Not the same energy as BATB but I’m happy to see more games of skate on my timeline
What’s up with the x patterns in the coping? Is it supposed to help you grind better?
merlin twist is sick, but way too low under the coping, for deffense is good but not for offense
also josh did it well, his offense tricks weren´t so offensive
it doesn’t matter where you do the trick on the ramp as long as you land it
they messed up the last turn. it was josh bordens offense turn.
@@dudemountain6689 Under coping is equivalent to going stationary or really slow in a flat ground game, yeah it could count just lame and could be better
@@dudemountain6689 Yep, all these silly qualifiers, smh
@@dudemountain6689 for me does a lot, really under the coping like in a bank a very crazy tech trick
cmon play hard but play clean....... that was like a non popped trick on a flatground game for deffense its ok but not for offense
yes Andy !
Andy's board looks like it's some hybrid between his own signature flight deck and a normal popsicle shaped deck. I'm about to buy a flight deck so would like to get some intel on that!
He's messing with a new deck shape
Me too about to buy his flight deck
Nunca vi o Andy Anderson perde um gamer, absurdo esse homen!
killer game
I hope it doesn't take a death for this be fully appreciated
loved this game !
"the button masher" is such an appropriate for a literal 4 trick transition combo, that shits straight out of thps lol
Button masher has never been a compliment buddy lol
@@rustyshackleford649 Oh okay buddy. thought Andy was the once who said it tho. So I don't think you're making any kind of a point.
*button smasher
the dude with the gray hair and glasses on the side of the judges panel got a kick out of the button smasher
Getting matched with Andy for round one will ruin anyone’s day.
Winkowski vs Anderson would be sick
Sorry to see this Rodney Mullen is an OG and one of the original ghost but Andy Anderson is almost up there for this generation goat in the making he needs to start hitting more televised comps
‘just go up and turn into Wonder Woman’ 🤣🤣
He did a grab when Andy didn’t do a grab and got a redo .. when andy didn’t grab he got a letter
josh was getting creamed let him have it
Completely different scenario
@@sctim123 not at all. A fs 180 is not a fs grab. Not grabbing compared to grabbing is a straight up different trick, the fact he got a redo on defence when he straight up just didn’t do it is annoying. It’s funny watching josh get upset he’s nothing compared to Andy and he knows it
@@Atsah exactly! straight up different trick!
Oh, you ou put something extra in there compared to you missed doing a thing all together.
Also we got the edited version, we don't know what conversation lead to those decisions. Maybe Josh thought that was the trick, while Andy possibly knew the trick and missed.
Lotta haters in here but that's how things progress. I remember when the back flip was landed on dirt bikes and a lot of the other guys didn't want it allowed in competition because they couldn't do it, but now moto freestyle is full of people doing back flips. Just gotta flow with the times and except change. Plus dude put up a good fight
Right. Tons of dudes stopped skating vert after McGill started doing mctwists for the same reason.
Eric Koston was doing semi-goofy multi-trick combo grinds back in the nineties. It's bad form to do really weird stuff you know your opponent has never done (or is too long to even remember) in a game of skate. Then you're forcing them to try it, even though they have no chance. And it's boring to watch.
Honestly moto freestyle is kinda lame to watch now, because every trick is a backflip combo. They need to set limits on the number of backflips you can get points for in a run, it would make it way more fun to watch.
I really really really hope you're not implying that people are being negative towards any in this specific contest because "they couldn't do it". Like I'm honestly really hoping that's not what you genuinely believe.
Lol. Dude nothing && did was progressive at all. The only thing difficult about his coping dancing stuff is remembering an exact order he's been practicing and you haven't. The guys a kook.
The most smile inducing skate viedo possibly ever. Still can't wipe it off 😁
this series is tight.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Esse cara não ficou nem um pouco contente com essas tricks do Andy.
As tricks são tão louca que precisa anotar
Ai sim! hahahaha
Borden has a dart board with Andy’s face on it now.
killer battle, killer commentary, killer format.. just killer!
in the last letter it was josh's turn for offense not andys'.. nobody noticed that???
It's really hard to compete with Andy. Like who does a Merlin twist on mini ramp?!?
Andy vs Jake is gonna be a good one
Andy for the win!
josh borden is sick
both are really good, josh killed it, but andy is just nuts... Altough, am i the only one noticing that you skipped the last offense of josh borden? afther the smith blunt smith rock revert, it was supposed to be josh's turn in offense.... hello??????
after andy explains the extreme tricks he does as "button masher"- i suddenly realize for 3 years on skater XL the haters were actually complimenting me
That's not supposed to be skated. Says the guy keeping all the fun out off the game. We need rad guys commenting, not my grandfather...
THIS WHY ANDY MY FAVORITE SKATER FR
fire !
How's Andy getting practice slides?
That type of shit is happening in every game, they seem to just be cool with it.
Barnum and Bailey called, they want their Andy back.
Incroyable
"Is there really a winner though?" - Andy
For anyone who says that Andy just does "weird" tricks and couldn't hold a candle to any "real" pro skaters haven't watched enough of his content.
Andy chooses to do more creative tricks. He can do tre's, varial heels, switch flips etc. In his Powell video part he back smithed a 20 stair (it might have been more) handrail.
It seems that he just enjoys the more creative/freestyle side of skateboarding.
As far as this game of skate, I agree that the "coping dancing" was un-gentleman-like. But best believe he's just as good as these other pros.
As far as the 5-0 to switch crook? He probably doesn't have that locked in, best believe that if he decided to practice em, he could throw em out every try consistently.
What cracks me up too is none of those tricks were easy in the slightest bit would love to see anyone replicate. That's what happens when you're different you get haters its a toxic thing in the community big time
People tend to hate on people they can't be compared to.. Andy is one of the most entertaining skaters alive. PERIOD.
SUPER
Let’s go Andy
Awsome game. Anyone know what deck Andy was skateing there. Looked like a new graphic to me.
Is there really a winner though?
Yeah, you. You're the winner.
😆 😂 😆
Gatekeeper skaters in this comment section crying over the tricks. Skating used to be creative and represented counter culture. now its "Be the same and do the same tricks and follow the supreme leader" type cult mentality.
This one is number one fore me this season 🔥🔥🔥
Andy “this one is called “I’m the best there ever was”
Mullen, Rowley, Hawk, Hosoi, Penny, Burnquist, Daewon, Gonz, Haslam, MULLEN!
What's the name of the trick at 6:14?
The picture and words at 8:47 and 8:49 say it all (Pause it)🤣🤣
I love this but why didn't they get Andy at the BATB again?
6:07 dat thumb tho
Lowkey mad at the combos a little but way to hyped for him and wooten to care
Shouldn't have counted. Andy set 2 tricks in a row. It's supposed to alternate regardless
Andy is just a fun skater to watch
Andy is the mannnnn
Andy is a WIZARD
This was so crazy best Mano to Mano I’ve seen yet I think
O Conner..best sk8board heckler ever lol
Lol amazing
Want to see Andy vs Jamie Griffin
andys so sick love watching him play skate
hes so humble
its great
josh borden has great attitude
Totally not what was going on, but it was fun to watch :)
Lmao literally the opposite, Andy isn’t humble at allllll and josh has a notoriously bad attitude
I think a merlin flip is kind of unfair 😆
Andy the Champion
The gravity wizard does it again!!
Spoiler: I like that everyone seems really happy or pissed that Andy won. It's cool that his style is so polarizing, means he's pushing the envelope in some way. Edit: yeah it can also be seen as being cheap. Johny Giger got really pissed at Andy over the same shit
Hey nice spoiler!😆 i like Andy and his skating, but i dont like when skaters just go for a weak point. Yeah yeah i know its a contest. I personally dont like when Andy just does combos he know the other guy cant do
I wouldent like it more if another guy just did stalefish combos because andy cant, would be just as boring
when i was a kid i also did weird tricks but to me its cheap and in any way "pushing the envelope", its just confusing dancing tricks to win a contest
Pushing the envelope is rad in a skate video…not in a game of skate. It’s just kinda lame that he showed up with a literal list of tricks that he assumes other people can’t do. Then at the end he says “but was there really a winner though?” Sure Andy, you weren’t being competitive at all. I like him but that was wack
Anytime someone says pushing the envelope they need to pick a different activity.
I noticed Andy is not riding his signature Powell board with the skull and helmet?
He has been trying out new shapes
Andy's tricks (in this contest) break a few unspoken rules.
As someone that doesn't understand skate culture, what rules did he break? It seemed like both guys were doing tricks that were combinations of simpler tricks. Is there a limit to how many can be chained together?
@@KeithSchumacherPortfolio its bad etiquette. imagine a game of skate where one player is doing 3 kickflips on flat in a row then insisting the other player has to do the same. skateboarders dont respect that. "just do one real/cool trick instead of chaining small tricks together"
@@vgrepairs bro its vert skating you can get away with a lot more than just doing one simple trick
Yea I have to agree atleast with the no comply tailslide revert, Andy got to practice the tailslide and then the tailslide revert just to do the actual trick. 2 warm up tricks for the actual trick is bad etiquette
Wait after T it should’ve been Josh’s turn
Andy Anderson def wins the game of KOOK.
7:53 you can see josh in disbelief when andy says front foot impossible
i do love Andy, my issue is that, to give you a silly example, he could do a grab as his trick, and mid air, change where he is grabbing the board (grab low, release, grab high), and this would be considered a "trick". some of his "tricks" look like accidents, like Bam will do a rock, then tap here, tap there, tap back here then end. Is that a Rock n Roll to Rock n Roll to Rock n roll? I dunno hey. anyone else think the same? hell the dude can do dark slides and natas spins so again, not hating....
Just make sure to send that 10% over to Koston
Sad to see so much hate on the kid just for playing his game. Basically everyone says do easier basic tricks so the person they want to win has a chance. Love to see it in the community no room for creativity which is what skateboarding always stood on. Good win Andy
I don't think it is about doing simpler tricks but doing some simon says pattern Andy has worked on for a month and his opponent gets 1 try is silly.I think three letters happened from andy Coping Dancing. More importantly, watching coping dancing is kinda boring. I used to dig andy anderson but lately I get kinda crappy vibe from him and his skating but that might just be me.
Yeah the guy is practically cheating. The stall to stall motions aren't what's difficult but replicating the order when you've only seen the series done once and haven't even had time to memorize the order. In other words && is saying "repeat after me" and then recites a 50 digit number that he's memorized. It's not the numbers that make that difficult but the random unfamiliar order of them. At it's least it's extremely bad sportsmanship.
@@Ateamdeferred all I’m hearing is “it’s too hard to remember what you did” even with him telling them what’s he’s going to do even though they say he doesn’t have to. If it was cheating don’t you think he would’ve been disqualified?
@@seltic13 I respect that.
It's bad sportsmanship, and makes for a boring game. There's no way someone's gonna land a 5 trick combo they've never done before on defense, so you'd have to be a bit of a jerk to pull that. He's too competitive to be acting like it's fun and games and creativity; he's got a freaking notepad out. Any decent skater can invent hard-to-replicate, goofy tricks and do them in a game of skate.
Andy defending not on the extension?
Every trick that Andy did would be a special
A special, what?
I feel like andy's bag of tricks is a little unfair in this type of game. Like, he did all of the tricks correctly of course, but it feels way too straight competitive from him instead of actually trying have a fun game. Not a fan.
Ya he could do some tricks that are actually possible for the other dude to do
Andy might lead to something like no "Malto manual shit" connected to his name sooner or later in this competition...
Just saying.
Much love to Andy.
haha that'd be nice!
The new rule will be no more than five front smiths per trick.
"No more Andy wiggle shit?" 🤣
no more andy grinds
lmao is just matter of time
Love Andy’s skating but josh definitely got skipped a turn at the end.
Well Josh definitely didn't hit that "Thinker" trick in any way. So that was a gift.
I've neve seen skate where they switch offense even after landed tricks but I dig the ability for both skaters to be aggressive
Yeah it's more like how games of bike are played. I liked it. Sometimes in BATB someone will go on like a 20+ trick offense run lol
QUE PASO AL FINAL FUE DOS VECES A CREAR SEGUIDAS NO ME PARECE JUSTO 😧😧😧😧😧😧😑💔
This series is very entertaining so far and Andy is a ridiculous skater, you just don't know what he's gonna pull out of his bag of tricks
it's rather cringe most of the time
So a guy should skate a contest, but half way try to win by doing tricks his opponent can do? Mmm, next I guess is a participation trophy.
Stuff he did was ridiculously hard and amazing.
