I feel bad because I havnt skated since maybe 2004. I have always had issues with my hip since before I started skating and its always been a compromise for me to go out and skate. It took me 2 whole years of trying every day to finally get an ollie down because that beck leg just doesn't preform as well. Getting that ollie down was amazing for me and I think because I had such difficulties, I wound up being able to ollie higher than anyone in my town from the start. From there skating just got too painful and I never got around to landing a kickflip but I could pull off massive pop shove its. I never cared for vert because I liked skating the streets and being creative to find my own obstacles to skate. Maybe when I get a new hip, I'll give it a go again.

i've actually seen a physics skater on youtube doing something similar. the physics of what's going on is actually pretty interesting, and i think even he didn't fully get it lol.... at rest the board is essentially balanced, which puts the axis in the direct center of the board. although, when you pop it puts momentum (inertia) into the board unevenly. which temporarily puts a weight (inertia energy) imbalance into the board. which changes its axis points.
i.e. one truck has more momentum (inertia) than the other, so (Einstein) one is heavier than the other. which lets you leverage the "lighter" side up for an ollie by putting something (like your foot) on the other side of a lever. only thing different from the lever motion of the pop is that the front truck is moving. things like hardflips are different, because you are not stopping the rotation, once past vertical the momentum in the truck is going at an angle that physically wants to travel away, and has to accelerate the slower (lighter) moving truck. which causes it to lift. same with good BS pop shuvs. rotation force pulls the back truck up and levels the board by itself. as long as you pop from the center heelside to counter the rebound force of the pop from flipping the board.
if you remove the board from the picture in your head you will realize that you are basically juggling inertia inside the skateboard...metal is more dense than wood and holds more inertia for longer. once entropy takes over, then tricks basically become impossible. funny to think that timing and skateboarding in general is actually dependent on golden ratio lol...

So cool to have dudes like these in the skate world. Top pros, still chilling with newbs in middle age and teaching them to skate 😊 I'd feel no shame or judgement going out to skate with any of them, despite being a shit skater these days 😂

I dont skate so i have zero clue what Im talking about, but "cheatcode" feels like a misnomer. This is more like learning the controls, or the tabs. What a simple, cool concept.

It is an epiphany most of us have had. We all realize at some point, just because someone tells you how to flick your foot, it takes time and feeling the board flip to actually understand where you need to place your foot and how to slide it. It is just logical thinking.

3:42 this comment is perfect and people forget this. It may take me hours and hours to learn a task or something that ultimately takes minutes to actually perform. It’s process but once you find the correct steps it’s the cheat code that you remember for life.
