Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Cherish", "Windy" and "Along Comes Mary" !!! (Windy and Along Comes Mary are upbeat!)
I totally second that emotion!
Those are indeed the other 3! :D
Don't forget Everything That Touches You, Along Comes Mary, Time For Livin'...
Spot on!
You want them to review, better pay up.
Amber will LOVE Cherish…
I will cherish love.
Cherish is my fav! Those harmonies are incredible.
Never my love and cherish are my two favourite songs from this great sixties group...so it's great to hear this again.
Yes she will and J too.
She will!!! 🥰🇺🇸
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG'S OF ALL TIME
you are correct!
Agree!
Absolutely. The writer understood the doubts and fears that often come with new love, and this is one of the most beautiful reassurances in music.
I love this song
This was light years ahead of anything put out today
Their song "Cherish" was one of the top wedding songs of the 1960s and 70s.
Not at any wedding I went to. (I'm in my 70's so I was there).
Perish is the word that more than applies
To the hope in my heart each time I realize
That I am not gonna be the one to share your dreams
That I am not gonna be the one to share your schemes
That I am not gonna be the one to share what seems to be
The life that you could cherish as much as I do yours
Those are not wedding song lyrics.
@@justwondering5651 Yep. Absolutely beautiful song, but NOT wedding lyrics. But then there are always those people who don't pay attention to the words--like everyone who decided "Every Breath You Take" by the Police was a good wedding song, romantic and not stalker-ish at all. LOL
@@justwondering5651 look it up. I was there too. Perhaps you should've been to more weddings lol
The Association is another one of those underappreciated groups with superb harmonies & incredible lyrics.
I think they just got drowned out by even better lyrical ballad groups of the time, but they seem to be experiencing some overdue recognition at last
Just turned 70, I use to play this song over and over again in the late 60s. Takes me back to more simple times. 🤗🤗🤗
Turned 70 this year too. This takes me back to my carefree time. This also although unrealistic gave hope of lasting love and revives my early years feeling of a bright future something missing in a lot of today’s music.
A time that will never be seeing again. However, part of the soundtrack to our lives. We can be thankful for that.
Yes, and Cherish for me, as well. 😊
it absolutely IS the music of our lives❤
73 here, I so get it and glad they do too.
Harmonies are unbelievable!!!!!
All of their songs are so beautifully harmonious 🥰🥰
"Cherish" is one of their most beautiful, timeless songs ever. I hope you give it a listen.
Definitely one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Cherish is the one you need to check out next!
One of the most played songs in radio history.
Yes, a 60s song that was played throughout the 70s and early 80s.
@@chrisoakley5830 And well into the 1990s, as well.
Cherish was played even more
You are correct sir! In fact, according to BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), which tracks such data, “Never My Love” was the second-most played song on American radio and television during the 20th century. It trailed only the iconic “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” by the Righteous Brothers. So while it didn’t claim the absolute top spot, it certainly left an indelible mark on the airwaves and hearts of listeners!
In 1973 this song was picked by my husband for our first dance at our wedding. It was perfect.
They the (Association) are one of the reasons why I consider the music of the 60's as the greatest decade in Rock & Roll history. Their harmonies are beautifully Insync. Priceless!
Unusual to have such perfectly blended harmonies and not be siblings like the Beach Boys or Bee Gees or from the same town like the Beatles. They are so talented!
Ah, finally. ❤ Cherish is another good one.
At one time this was the second most played song on the radio of all time.
This is exactly the type of music heard on A M radio back in the day 👍
Yep!
The Association was unusual, probably the best soft pop group of the era. Their melodies and lyrics were a cut above other similar groups.
Yes. Old people thought all of our music was “noise” and FM wouldn’t help it sound any better. Hate to say it, but there has been so much put out over the last 20 years that I consider “noise” and wish was relegated to AM. I turned to East Asian music I do not understand because I got fed up.
“Dating” music.
"Back in the day" < I HATE that Unoriginal Simplistic Non-Specific Ghetto expression.
I was an 11-year-old kid watching the Ed Sullivan show in 1968 when these guys came on and sang this number. It mesmerized me and I fell in love with music at that moment.
I was 11 in 68 also. 😀
One of the best love ballads ever written. Such great harmony!
LOVE THAT KNOWING SMILE & GLANCE that Jay gave, when Amber went into the "Amber Sway"!!! :) LOVE YOU-GUYS!!!
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've always loved this song. Thanks for doing this one. Bring back some wonderful memories and sad ones
One of my favorite songs of all time. It's just beautiful all the way around.
A group WAY ahead of its time! Try "Everything That Touches You" and "No Fair At All"......
Everything That Touches You is beautiful.
This group doesn't layer their vocals, one of the best groups in music!
I've always loved The Association. They did some fantastic songs, this included ❤
My stepdad was the main lead singer on this one and throughout the years would always dedicate it to my mom except for one time when he dedicated it to my wife on a cruise ship we were on during a performance. Blew her away!
your stepdad was Terry Kirkman? condolences on his recent passing...
The Association had so many great songs on the radio back in the day, truly one of my favourites.😎🍺☮️🇨🇦
Yes, you guys are finally back to The Association and doing one of their best songs. The next one you nedd to react to needs to be Cherish
May we suggest "Windy"? Probably the Association's biggest hit.
My brother's go to song when he played the Saxophone was Windy. I can never hear that song without thinking of him learning to play it.
No was that better than Never My Love and Cherish
that is my fav but Never My Love was the second most played song on the airways in the 20th century.....only behind You Lost That Loving Feeling.....
@@xAce99x I never said it was better. When we talk about the Association all is good. "Never My Love" peaked at #2 in this country. "Windy" went to number 1. That's all I was getting at.
that was my earliest memory of favorite song back when it first came out (born in 1961). That, and "Downtown" by Petula Clark.
3 beautiful "love songs" of the 60's from this group: Cherish, Never my Love and Everything that touches You. The vocals are sweet and the harmonies are soft like honey to the ears.
The amazing thing about his troupe was that all 6 of the guys were near professional singers before they met in college. When they formed up, each guy took a different vocal range to supplement the accapella harmonies. You can pick out each individual voice in most of their songs and being from different pasts of the US (and Hawaii), they brought several varying intonations into play, hence the unique sounds in the harmonies....
My girlfriend-at the time-took me to Melodyland, next to Disneyland, to see the Association in the round. 1968, she knew how much I liked them. I was a softie (pre-war) even had an 8 track of Burt Baccehrich songs. Even had Herb Albert - “This guys in love with you!” Good times!
One of the most beautiful songs to come out of our generation.
The kind of sunshine that starts from inside, that comes out every time you think of the one you love.
Other hits of their's are Windy, Along Comes Mary and Cherish!!!! ❤❤❤❤
one of the ultimate sunshine pop songs is Spanky & Our Gang's Lazy Day!!
That, and "I'd Like to Get to Know You."
Nope
@@johnparker8588 yep!!!!!~
Love this band!❤😂
I've always loved the Association, this is my favorite of theirs.
Guys, this may just be one of the best love songs in the history of recorded music! I've always loved this song which came out when I was around two years old.
Amber and Jordan, you have the most comments and enjoyment from the Baby Boomer generation when you react to songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's. There are so many suggestions made to you. We really enjoy your reaction to them. Please give us more.
What a wonderful song what a wonderful memory from my high school years!❤😊
Great pick, Jay & Amber. This single is perfection. One of the greatest of the 60's, and that's saying something.
This brings back memories. On my 14th birthday my parents bought me a portable record player and this album which I still have! Love this song and Cherish still at age 68!! Thanks for playing!!
I call this ‘Lush’ pop. Layers of vocals and instruments and all of it takes you away 😊
It brings back sweet memories. Nothing we could not play for our younger siblings!
Their song "Windy" needs to be your next reaction from them. It's upbeat, bouncy and simply a great song.
Another vote for;
Windy
Cherish
Along Comes Mary
And I’ll add, Requiem For The Masses.
"Requiem For The Masses" is one of the great antiwar songs; I loved it as a kid before I ever figured out the metaphor. To your list, I'll add "Everything That Touches You". And for a quirky, different side of The Association, I strongly suggest "Wasn't It A Bit Like Now (Parallel '23)".
Absolutely love this song.
One of the most beautiful songs ever! The melody just takes you away.
2 Huge 60's artist you haven't reacted to:
- Neil Sedaka "Calendar Girl"
- The Union Gap "Young Girl"
To me at 72 this is by far such a fantastic song of LOVE for your spouse - Never gonna leave you baby! That's the WRECKING CREW musicians playing the background as they did for all the GROUPS back in the day!
I would put this on on at random and grab my girl of 30 years and dance. Sadly, she passed in 2017. I cry ever time I here this
In the 80s my dad took us to Knotts Berry Farm and we were blessed to see all the original members of The Association play an entire show. The entire audience was in heaven. Much later in the day we were in another part of the park and we were lucky enough to catch them play again. Saw them twice in one day and never again.
Got to do "Along Comes Mary" next, higher energy, but harmony like the Beach Boys, and rapid lyrics!
A lot of babies were conceived to this song back in the day!
Who Dey! Per Far Out Magazine, this song is number 5 on the list of most played songs on the radio all time.
This is my Parents Wedding Song!! Next year the will be celebrating 55 years together 50 years of Marriage!!! ❤️❤️
The magic about this song is that it sounds so sincere.
Amber- You caught the spirit of this song perfectly! In my opinion, it is THE most beautiful song out of all the beautiful songs in the 60s❤
Cherish is considered the song of the decade for the 60's.
More 60s? There’s many hits then by the BeeGees! “Lonely Days”, I Started a Joke”, “Words”, “Gotta Get a Message to You”, “To Love Somebody” - to name just a few.
Yes. "Words", "To Love Somebody", "Got to get a message to you".
Also, “Massachusetts”
One of the most heartfelt declarations of eternal devotion EVER! Thanks guys.
One of my favorite groups that has a similar vibe is the Classics IV. Their song Traces is a gem
Along comes Mary, Windy, Cherish.....so many good songs back in the day.
Hey, now! More Association! Along Comes Mary, Cherish, and Windy are MUST LISTENS.
I first heard this song from the Outlander series. Main character was being tortured and she was having flash forward dreams of her husband in a different era of time.
Got goosebumps the moment it started. The Association had some amazing hits with beautiful harmonies. I was just listening to them the other night!
Dion: Abraham, Martin, and John!!
It's such an emotionally charged song!!
Cherish is epic!
In the 70's, my Mom usually had an "easy listening" radio station going during the day as she went about her business. I absorbed so many melodies like this one that are part of my childhood. It's the sound of comfort and home to me.
One of my wife’s and my favorites. Came out when we were in high school. Celebrating our 50th this August. Love you guys.
Windy is so much fun to hear. It's even more fun to quietly hum or sing, and have a whole office of people start singing it along with you.😂
The Association still out touring with the Happy Together tour and still sounding amazing!
Thank You once again for watching you fell like I did back then. When they were one of those bands that gave you the feel goods and took you to their happy place. Unique in their own way. I feel that again because of your ability to understand.❤
I love the Association! I was fortunate to be able to see them in concert in 1971. My 2 heart favorites, both written by Terry Kirkman, are "Cherish" & "Everything that Touches You."
The Association was one of my favorite groups in the 60s, and "Windy" was the first song I heard from them. But as far as seeing a live version, note that I only learned recently that (like numerous other groups) they did not actually play the instruments on their records -- the producer used studio musicians to get the best sound. I do remember seeing them on TV a few times, but I'm sure the backing instruments were probably prerecorded.
If you react to the Association again, please listen to Cherish or Windy. Amber will be soooo happy 😊
You all should react to the Vogues. You will love their 60's sound and harmony. Five O Clock World, You Are My Special Angel, and Turn Around Look At Me.
No doubt. Magic Town is a forgotten gem. 😊
Released 1967. I listened to their records over and over in my room when I was 13. A fav.
Finally got around to one of my most cherished (pun intended) memories growing up. The Association had the most beautiful harmonies ever.
"Along Comes Mary" is a must!
This one and "Cherish" will remind you of your first crush if you aren't careful.
I was about 7 years old when this came out but I remembered it so well. Big brother always had the radio playing. Songs like that really transports me back to my family home and it always pulls a lot of emotion out of me. Soundtrack to my childhood. It never ceases to amaze me how music can do that.
Their harmonies were so good that led to many great hits! The Wrecking Crew did all the instrumentals for this and other songs by The Association!
Oh my goodness, memories of my youth come flooding back to me. I'm in high school again. Love this music!
My favorite by them is Cherish. The harmonies are out of this world. Such beautiful sentiment, as well.
This is one of my most favorite songs of my life. The Association was one of the absolute best groups I've ever seen/Heard. I love the organ part at the fade. Try "Require For The Masses" or "Everything That Touches You" next. Thank you so much for this reaction.
A must by the Association is "everything that touches you" written by Terry Kirkman who recently passed, he also wrote "Cherish"-Two amazing songs
such a good song to listen to, when driving with your lady and it is played on the radio
It's cute how Jay realizes, after listening a few seconds to the song, that Amber is going to dig it. He looks over at her with a smile. SO cute!! I love your channel! You're #1. Especially fun for me are the 1960s and some '70s songs. Even some of the later 1950s are so exquisite! Thanks, Rob Squad!!
The “Association” was kind of guilty pleasure for us rock-n-rollers back in the day!
Listening to this song on the radio as mom and dad drove us kids around town in our station wagon. Best times.
My very first concert, my mom took me when I was 6 years old in 1968. Bob Hope opened for them. I will remember it forever.
When the world was a softer place ❤
Some of us were trying not to get shot! However, I get it! 💗
Saw them live as a college freshman in 1967 at East Carolina. So dreamy and romantic.
Cherish is beautiful, too. Really anything they sang is great.
Teen in 60-70s. Still love this band!🎼💙🎼💙🎼💙
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Such beautiful voices and harmonies too
Love this song. Girls played it every day on the jukebox in the gym at the Girls Club. Thanks!!!
A group criminally ignored in the U.K. which is such a shame because as a six and seven year old in 1966/67 I remember hearing the group on U.K. radio and along comes Mary , cherish and windy are my favourite records
The Association came out of the LA pop era that leaned so heavily on vocal harmonies. In their early days, they'd worked with Cass Elliot of the Mamas & Papas, and with David Crosby of CSNY. They were huge hitmakers when I was a teen. Thanks for bringing them back into the spotlight, they deserve it.
Their song "Windy" is one of my favorites. Whimsical lyrics and a killer bass line.
If you haven't reacted to Cherish by the Association yet, It's a MUST listen, Another perfect love song for the love of your life
