Despite declines in faith affiliations, America is still the most religiously diverse and religiously devout country in the world. But in the secularization of America, is religion (or lack of) becoming more of a political identity? Why is partisan and political ideology co-opting and/or displacing religion, and what do we lose as a country when that happens?

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (LDS) and responding to that woman’s question of how we can increase education and tolerance for religious minorities is to ask and listen to believing members about the faith rather than the ex-members whose very vocal minorities are not representative of the majority experience. The hope, joy, happiness, and purpose I feel in living this faith is sadly not adequately represented in mainstream and social media 😢
