Honestly, I’d love a part two on the nurse. She still has some history to get to where we are now, but maybe there could also be speculation on what could change to make her in a more healthy state🤔
make her fatigue last longer so you get rewarded for playing well and punished for playing badly. Also make it so she cant go up or down with her blinks, since that ability makes her way too broken on smaller and more vertical maps like midwich
@@wollahmeh8823 I agree with the first point, but your second point idk about that one that would just make nobody play her, plus it doesn't make sense to removed that from her kit.
An easy nerf is to make her attack after blinking a special attack. Makes her not synergize with exposing perks like starstruck or perks that require a basic attack to activate like STBFL or Sloppy.
I remember thinking that when a Nurse only used 3 blinks to hit me, she was very good. People still missed with 7 blinks. Do you understand ? *PEOPLE MISSED WITH 7 BLINKS.*
Killer shack used to have two windows, self care was 8 seconds, and pallets used to vacuum survivors to the other side... and survivors still got sacrificed. We all used to be much worse at this game, and that's when DBD was in its prime. The community has optimized the fun out of the game.
I think that they definitely developed Nurse with a hide and seek playstyle in mind; back in old dbd survivors were (as you said) much stealthier and Nurse, who walked as fast as/was slower than survivors, should have had issues finding them, which was compensated by her blinks which could take survivors down super fast. The game, obviously, developed throughout the years and now survivors don't even have that advantage, courtesy of various perks. Her biggest issue, in my opinion, is her control over perks (most notably one shot ones) and the way they're balanced. When you can't even put out perks without considering how nurses might abuse them, it's a problem.
@@farronblaze2952 Started playing the nurse and I absolutely love this build, so I can confirm if they make her blinks specials I would immediately drop her lol.
I remember when Ardetha made the ultimate Nurse guide [“choppin’ up bodies, one of my favourite hobbies”] back in the day. It really helped me out after (very likely) more than my fair share of 0ks. I got quite good! But after some long breaks and maining other killers for years, I’m back as a noob Nurse. Some people have an intuitive grasp of ol’ Sally Smithson - I’m REALLY not one of them. But there’s some amazing news. These days, we can make a custom server with bots to practice! Strongly recommend.
@@deathknight1239 It’s not necessary about the bots so much as it is about the self - learning blink ranges and lunge windows and all that. And much better to learn that in a practice match than a live server with four humans you’re likely to be humiliated against.
Wow thank you for including captions. ♥ And I see that you've brighten up the footage too. This makes consuming your videos so much easier when not on a pc in a suspiciously dark room alone.
Simple thing that everyone has already said but the number one most needed nurse change is to make her blink attacks a special attack. She is already so strong that she doesn't need to take such good advantage of exposed effects.
@@SiegZeon-d5x but then what about every killer that can injure a survivor from range, Or the trapper addon that injures a survivor when they disarm a trap, Or for the people?
12:52 I'm pretty sure the extra cooldown starts to tick down while Nurse is in fatigue, it's not stacked after the fatigue. So even that didn't give Nurse the nerf she was meant to have. She barely has to wait at all until she gets both blink charges back.
I miss the nurse's old base kit because that's when I decided to try and pick up nurse. I rarely ever use add-ons even to this day and I still think that Nurse's base kit shouldn't have been touched as it made her feel like playing half a killer with a lag issue.
The biggest change that could be done to bring her into better balance without bottlenecking everyone else is change her power to make attacks count as a special attack after blinking. This would completely shutdown all of the insta down builds that make her feel like the most oppressive and snowballing killer in the game. I dont understand why the devs are too scared to even run that as a PTB test just to see how it plays
It’s honestly unfathomable how they don’t count it as a special attack. Easily the most obvious and easy to implement change they could do and it would make nurse actually fun to go against.
@@whistlz I would like to add that while I understand the cooldown mechanic for her blinks. I wish they let it go down while you're charging a blink. As being forced to use a blink a split second before your second one recharges is mind numbingly awful to play around.
if they do it games pay to win, so they need her and blight to be up there or dlc killer dont only have the best perks but are now stronger, so locking a good killer and perks after licensed dlc is well pay to win. it needs to stay like that sadly
@@nsreturn1365 I dont know how removing insta down from the one character who can ignore every single loop mechanic by teleporting would make they game pay to win. Good nurses dont need an insta down to win the game. Insta down mechanics on nurse just lowers the skill gap and creates a situation where you just see a character and the chase is over if you land one blink.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that after Nurse's blinks got charges (and her kill rate went down as a result) Behaviour decided the best course of action was to buff her range addons and her three-blink addon, so we're right back at square zero with Nurse having overpowered addons only now she's more frustrating to play.
4:38 Actually the artist And a bunch of other killers hade light born mechanics when this video came out that were removed recently including the nurse and wraiths
You can't stun Artist or other killers with flashlight, something that you used to be able to do with Nurse and Wraith. So while some killers do have interactions with flashlight, lightburn is specifically stunning the killer with one.
I want more killer's with light burn mechanics as am example let's make spirit move slower in phase when pointing a flashlight at her or temporary stun her for like 1.5 seconds
Based on the singularity I have an idea for a nurse rework Which is that rather than nerfing her because she is fun to play as is, create an in level item like a special torch that lets survivors temporarily deactivate her blinks, but also give her a speed boost forcing her to chase like a regular killer for a small duration. That might create a nice middle ground where you aren’t just nerfing an awesome killer, but you’re actually giving the survivors a chance to fight back
How about... 1) make her blink 3 stages, short, med, long 2) short blink uses 1/3 your blink bar, med uses 2/3, long uses 3/3 3) your blink bar moves along showing the charge youve expended so its easier to know how far youre going 4) Addons can limit the blink distances, lock you to one distance (you only make medium range blinks), increase recharge rate, change your base movement rate in exchange for only short blinks.
This is one of the best ideas i have heard yet. So you could have 3 small and short Blinks. 2 Medium Length Blinks or 1 Long Blink. And then maybe make only the first Blink Count as a Normal Attack and every Blink after that as a Special Attack. That actually sounds like an amazing idea.
@@asain3586 they have learned it by now. Or better, they employed People who do. It's just that they need the Nurse to stay the strongest Killer. That way their Game isn't pay to win cause all you need to Win is Nurse.
I never played DBD and probably never will, but somehow you made me watch every single video you have in this format, what kind of forbidden magic are you using?
Saw this video at some point and decided I'd main Nurse for all of 3 weeks. The first week would prove to be a warm up some the other 2 would actually be the gameplay. Only one problem though. During the first week I started noticing that I felt as though I spun around several times after looking away from the TV screen for only a moment. The second week, my head would ache after several blinks during a match. I progressively decided to extend breaks after a match to the point where breaks went from 30 minutes to eat or drink to nearly 2 hours just to get my head straight. By the time the third week arrived, I was so sick in the head I decided to take a week break from DBD altogether. I still did a third week of playing Nurse as I promised myself, but Jesus was it a struggle. I've never felt motion sickness in my life before this but playing Nurse really took the cake. I've never had such a displeasure of playing a killer in DBD in my life. Until they fix the head bobbing after a blink, I'm never gonna even bother touching her. More power to those who main her cause clearly you've suffered less then I have.
I was a high rank nurse main killer and played during her golden age, yes, there was plenty of clunky jank but the fact that nurse didn't have to deal with looping was all the encouragement I needed to get good at her. What ultimately ended up driving me away from the game permanently though was as you said, cooldowns on cooldowns and the change to how score was calculated after the match, making me feel less like I was supposed to be trying to win and more like I was supposed to be entertaining a group of 4 jackoffs who called me every slur under the sun after the match even if I got max hooks.
The fatigue is still the reason why I never play Nurse at all. It legitimately gives me a headache with short periods of gameplay, and hell this video was hard to watch. It was still very informative 😅
Another thing that happened to Nurse when they gave the lunge increase was removing her blink auto aim. For anyone that didn’t play the game back then. Nurse did have a blink auto aim. If you blinked near a survivor that was in hitting range and you pressed the attack button, the camera would immediately rotate to the survivor as you swung.
I think the only good Nurse change suggestion i've seen is making it so her first blink works as normal, but her second blink can't go through terrain, I think that still keeps her strong while adding a hell of a lot more counterplay and skill to her
@@gantref9202 oh so just stronger wesker lmfao, any ability that can allow you to teleport through walls is op af, imagine huntress being able to throw hatchets through walls, that’s what nurse does
@@M4XXXXXXXX Well Huntress isn't any way shape or form a top tier killer so we can't compare her to Nurse. Thing is that all top tier killers are insane in the right. Blight and Spirit are game breaking in their own perspective and are as equally challenging (if not more) when they're being used by the same skill level players that people complain of playing the Nurse (because an average to below Nurse is still manageable). Blight's mechanic is beastly and hugely unpredictable, pallets are nothing against him and windows are a poor bet since he could very well meet you on the other side. We're not even touching on his add-ons. Spirit was far stronger before her nerfs, this is true, but she's still a powerful killer that can easily mind game anyone out of a loop (again we're speaking on people with average above skills). Granted the only Killers top tier killers that can slug a game in nanoseconds are Blight and Nurse (Bubba is a wild card and requires mistakes on the survivors at the start). But then we also have infinite tier 3 Myers, Weskers whole ignoring pallets mechanic plus special attack, Iri Huntress- these are special cases but I also think that a nearly unbeatable Nurse is a special case as well. I don't think her ability to blink through is what makes her so terrifying, rather her having Aura reading perks. Any fast/insta killer with Aura perks is terrifying.
@@Sylaise huntress is high B/low A depending on the map/addons/perks. My point is that wesker is exactly the same as nurse except he doesn’t ignore the rules of the game, so making it so the first blink is still game breaking would just be a stronger wesker
I was surprised by the Sept 2022 statistics BHVR released that still listed Nurse as the bottom for kill rate. The changes in 5.5.0 (mostly bug fixes) made her feel so much better and easier to play than ever before.
My big issue is survivors have started lying about Nurse to get her nerfed. For the longest time, Killers and Survivors agreed that the Nurse was god-tier, but that the process of becoming a player that could properly use her power was sufficiently high that she didn't break the game. Any other Killer would give better returns on a more immediate basis, such that you were trading several games with 0 kills in order to access the Nurse's true power. And yet, this Nurse. The one that has been repeatedly nerfed to a fraction of her original power? Survivors now all say she's too easy to learn. That players trying Nurse can get returns after an hour of play. As someone who did go to the trouble, I call bullshit. It took me a damn long time to learn her personally, and I was learning the game too in that time, so I went to a friend who'd learned her more recently. He cited about 20 games to go from "struggling" to "okay, now I can actually accomplish something." I haven't seen a single person who says Nurse is "easy to learn" actually show me the receipts. So I'm inclined to believe it's the usual Survivor bullshit: "If we all bleat the same refrain loud enough, Behavior will do something about it." Yeah, I am bitter. I watched Freddy get torpedoed multiple times into a bland piece of shit, while DS and DH put me in unwinnable situations. I watched Billy and Deathslinger get completely gutted. And I watched Behavior make an entire goddamn map where stealth and trap Killers *don't work.* I have reason to be.
"The nurse is hard to learn" does not make her current performance acceptable. Sure it takes some time, but when that time is passed, "balance" gets defenestrated and the survivors are just at the mercy of the killers skill level. That should not happen. Ridiculously Average has made an excellent video about this. I suggest you check it out
I feel like there is a way that you can add a fatigue state without making people literally feel sick. 1) Give her the Blindness status effect until at least 1 blink charge is back (so you can’t just see someone with BBQ or any other info perks straight after downing or hooking someone) 2) Add an accessibility feature for people with motion sickness so they can play Nurse (idk what this would be so any ideas would be appreciated) 3) Darken the screen while recovering (think like Nightfall but a bit brighter)
@@NicoTheCinderace yeah that could work. I thought about it but if it was as an accessibility feature, everyone would just abuse it. Like how Spine Chill helps deaf people play the game
A simple but potentially effective nerf I thought of was to simply make it so that the Nurse has to hit a survivor three times to down them. The problem with this is that it would make it even harder for people who already struggle with her to learn her, but I feel like with how good she is once you learn her, it's a fair change. Combine this with the making her blinks count as special attacks as they are already doing. She's still incredibly strong either way, that will never change, but I think it would make things better.
Their NOT hard to master I have no idea why people say this. I am a average Killer with a pretty iffy kill rate but the moment I picked up Doctor even without knowing how to play her my kill rate skyrocketed. Her ability isn't hard that is a issue. Plus, if something skips game mechanics that's still a issue.
nurse ain't hard at all to master lol, a 700hrs nurse player can easily beat 2000+ hrs survivors with relative ease, hillbilly or blight have a much higher learning curve, and just because people don't play as her very often doesn't mean she isn't overpowered
The best way to counter twins is by not slamming victor off your back unfortunately most players still havent figured that out, most twins players spam victor for attacks , i would normally hold on to victor as long as i can while looping the sister, but in solo matches no one catches on to that
@@NotRenjiro I'm speaking as a survivor When I play against twins I'd let Victor stay on my back So his sister would be forced to chase me giving other survivors time to activate gens
If I had to change something about nurse (besides the already suggested changes like making her blinks special attacks instead of basic ones and making the fatigue less straining for players prone to motion sickness) I would replace her initial blink with an on the spot teleport similar to Freddy's generator apparition. She sends out a wisp of breath that flies in the direction she's facing in and can send it for as long as she wants; then she can teleport to it at a different time or cancel it; once she teleports to it she can decide to either blink like usual or not (the prior will give her fatigue while the latter would not). To counter balance this change you could make her a 110% killer since the strongest part of her kit (the blink) is only reserved for when she completes a teleport. It's drastic but in my eyes it would give survivors counter play in several ways other than lightburn (or hitting the DC button) while Nurse would still retain a good amount of map pressure and somewhat of a decent chase potential with some mindgames strewn about. It's as best as I can explain it without making this comment a book so I hope my idea makes sense
@@Chris-cf1hs it might sound like dredge, but when you boil down to the basics teleporting killers are the same thing just different executions with something extra on top of it. Take dredge, teleports to lockers and has nightfall. Take Onryo, teleports to TVs and has condemnation. Take demogoron, teleports to portals and has shred. My change is similar to all these, nurse teleports to her select location and has a blink, it just changes how she teleports
@The Chubster no I mean dredge can teleport to a select location. You'd have the same problem with nurse that you do with dredge. You see them set a portal, hold w
She feels like she's in a pretty good spot to me. I'm not in the highest MMR I'm sure but when I play against nurses being unpredictable and staying aw far away from her as possible really seems to work on most nurses. On top of that she really is one of the most fun Killers to go against for me, I like how it's less about memorizing how to run a tile and more about trying to predict their prediction and not being there. Makes the whole chase interesting rather than knowing you are 100% safe because you have a good window/pallet.
I love facing the nurse, theres a lot of mind games going on. Should you run around the corner or run straight at the killer so she blinks past you. She has a huge skill requirement to be good at her so to be good at her was a large amount of time you had to invest into learning her. A top tier nurse is still incredibly strong but most are just mid. I hope they don't keep nerfing her, reward the players that put in the time. For reference I am a survivor main and play nurse from time to time and I just smack into walls 90% of the game.
she used to be my least favourite but honestly it's not too hard to avoid her blink attacks if you're paying attention, the nurse has to think about trajectory, how far the blink can actually take them and where a survivor might move to in order to catch them. I just don't think she's the strongest killer anymore idk My point is I don't think she needs to be nerfed
Unreleated to the video, but a survivor main once told me on discord and i quote "nurse is the most balanced killer in the game because if you miss her power you get punished for it", kinda feels like thats the mindset the BHVR has since they still REFUSE to balance her, and this is coming from me, a killer main
Idk if that´s the mindset Bhvr has, but I think it´s a flawed argument because, for example: if you miss Pinhead´s chains, you get the cooldown, a short stun animation and all the distance the survivor has got when you set up the chain. If you miss with the Deathslinger, you have to reel in the chain and reload, both of which slow you down. There are many killer that have stuff you can miss and are greatly punished for it, and are way more balanced than the nurse. In fact, with that argument in hand, i´d say Pinhead would be the most balanced killer in the game.
So, that would really be Twins as the most balanced killer, after all if you miss you lose Victor, you lose the survivor, you get stunned and you have to go back to where Charlotte is. That would also explain their atrocious pick rate.
@@zandromex8985 pinhead is technically the balanced version of nurse. the problem with pinhead's power is that his chains just break on the environment and he breaks his own chains for walking through them. Hitting his chains offers no reward. Its like equivalent where half your nurse blink's apply deep wound status effect and do not down the survivor after m1 them. Pinhead is like Nurse slot machine. He needs better chain balance in my opinion. I think main problem with nurse is her zoning potential. Strong Nurse practically zones just by existing. I don't think any other killer zones by existing. Nurse's blink are such powerful form of direct gap-closing that the survivor being in the open is effectively punished by strong nurse play for being too close to nurse. The idea that line of sight counters nurse is flawed argument because most of the maps in the game have window loops and see-through objects that make it impossible for survivor to mask their position vs nurse. The nurse can like... use process of elimination to deduce the survivor's location. Nurse abuses outdoor maps way too well for her weakness to be exploitable. Indoor maps like Lery and RPD are her only true weakness, but these maps are not weak for nurse because of Line of sight. They are weak because the nurse does not know where to blink. Its not line of sight problem. Its where to blink problem. Nurse's weakness is suppose to be proactive gameplay. your suppose to be able to proactively prevent nurse from blinking next to you to avoid being in m1 range, but nurse's blink play is almost reactionary more so then proactive. The RPD/Lery forces nurse to be proactive with her blinks over reactionary. I think nurse on RPD/Lery is probably most balanced killer in the game, but nurse on every other map is probably least balanced killer in the game simply because reactive blink gameplay takes away the fun mindgames.
@@dozzy9984 twins are punished for missing, and punished for hitting because you need 7 seconds to transition from victor to charlotte, and since against twins, people group up, by the time charlotte gets to the downed survivor, the survivor will just get picked up. Also victor can be held hostage by the survivor, basically denying charlotte the use of her entire power
@@MrcreeperDXD777 Right, I forgot that Twins are punished for hitting with power as well (unless they'll do a slug party). It feels like ages since I saw them last time.
The devs need to do several things. 1: start playing their game and testing their changes. 2: if they’re not gonna do that, listen to the players that they’re making test these changes 3: listen to the communities suggestions on how to fix something instead of doing whatever the hell they want and potentially causing more problems These are problems I see with a good few of the games I like, it seems as if the devs don’t play their own game or listen to the people who are playing it.
Nurse’s post blink attacks being switched to special attacks would definitely help a lot. I’m all for a killer making you play differently, and even nurse being really strong, but she shouldn’t have arguably the best chase power in the game, and also get instant downs. If you wanted to make her feel a bit more standard, maybe buff her movement speed to 110% but give her blinks a much longer cooldown , and maaaaaybe make it so only the first blink ignores map geometry. Still with the post blink attacks being special attacks, of course.
I like the first and last idea the most. Making her faster is really not the way to go, because then you can just walk up to survivors and blink around loops like crazy. Blinks are already crazy strong just because they ignore collision. Making her require better positioning with the second blink would make her really have to work for it and justify her design of being strong but hard.
@Ardetha... Ur videos ot in other words this kind of content is one of the best i've ever seend on UA-cam about dbd!! Keep on going!! Every Video is like a look back to the past... I freaking love it!! And i hope all your hard work is paying off !!
+ the old nurse was more punishing to learn. You couldnt just blink in place. When u charged ur blink u go that 20m no matter how u look. For me it was the hardest part durig learning her in 2016 cuz survivors were starting to juke her after a month and predicting the jukes and charging blinks wisely was hard
Damn bro coming to think of it I only played nurse for 1 month straight and didnt win a single game with her (yes not one out of prob more than 100) only for me now having learned her getting consistent 3 to 4 kills a game
(Inspired by another comment about nurse being a hide-and-seek killer.) Maybe that/\ could be a rebalance, make nurse's blink attacks an insta-down, but give her permanent blindness and make any and all movement speed buffs be ignored, give her 3 blinks basekit but she can't get anymore (maybe the macth box could make nurse into more of a chase killer, like she is now?), make her screech as the match starts so survivors have to try and hide (maybe even tell the survivor as they laod in and give a loadout change screen, so survivors can make thier build stealth based). This will ramp up tension, provide direct counterplay, and will give a unique playstyle.
There's a reason most survivors hate when people use urban evasion and hide the entire match. Plus a lot of killers use aura reading perks and it doesn't help after a killer has seen you
I think Nurse should be "buildup" killer like Oni or Myers, make her a regular killer, give her some condition and now she can activate her Blink Mode where she is like we know her right now (maybe some other changes too) for around 60 seconds. Now survivors have time to do stuff and maybe delay her power for as much as possible, and it would make every second count when in a chase and not feel wasted, while giving Nurse some other interactions and making her more interesting (that way they wouldn't need to fully rework her or program any new power, just use what we have with a timer)
This is the best one. Dedicated nurse mains don't feel completely destroyed and survivors are happy because she's balanced. They should also make her blink fatigue normal fatigue. Experienced nurses never lose survivors anyways, this would help noobs use her better.
Nurse really is a relic from the time where the devs had no idea where the game would go. They expected survivors to instantly drop pallets, vault through windows and keep running. That was when killer was more powerful in the eyes of the community so a teleporting killer sounds fun. When the survivors started using loops to their advantage, suddenly blinking through walls and barriers became the best power in the game because she was the killer to counter it. Other killers have been released since then to counter it but their powers have more counterplay, or are generally less reliable or less effective than straight up teleporting. She's remained unchecked because the good nurses will always be able to play around changes that don't outright hamstring her and if the devs do hamstring her, she'll go straight to the bottom of the tier list. There may be some changes the devs could make such as removing all but one blink or remove her ability to blink through walls but then she'd turn into a shitty spirit. She really is a tough killer to balance
the old nurse should have never been nerfed. yeah it was OP but the level of skill it took to get that point was insane, this current nurse is less powerful but much easier to learn
Eliminate the ability to teleport through walls. Simple as that. You can even buff her speed if needed, but most of her problems would be fixed if should was unable to teleport through walls. Windows and pallets, sure, but not walls. It would work, and Wesker is a good example of that. Oh and also her blink should not be a basic attack
Once again. I will keep saying it. Those tracks from Rayman Hoodlum Havoc are such bangers in your video. Brings me back to my GameCube times. Love it!
I think the core problem with Nurse is that she's slower than survivors. Because of this design decision her power has to be good for mobility and cannot be nerfed below a threshold of usability. With this she's basically doomed to be either top tier killer or complete trash, there's almost no room for in between. I tried playing her with her meme addons that reduce range and swing distance and she was borderline unplayable in that state, survivors holding W would pretty much always escape because I couldn't gain any distance. In my opinion, her movement speed should be changed to 110% first and then we can apply more reasonable nerfs to her power. I did a lot of experimenting with 1-blink Nurse addon since that's the closest I can get to 110% movement speed and she's surprisingly playable with just one blink. The second blink is what causes all the balancing and fun issues because a good Nurse player will almost always use the second blink to guarantee a hit by correcting her position. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to remove 2nd blink because it's good for mobility. Maybe the baseline should be so that Nurse can do either blink+blink or blink+attack? E.g. keep 2 blink tokens but blink attack requires and consumes a token, like a blink? I think that would be reasonable.
@@ArianaNyxi That's both an attempt at pedantry and not a correction in the slightest. They didn't claim anything about why the design decisions as are they are, just that the movement capabilities of her power need to be maintained because she is otherwise so slow. "Because [she's slower than survivors] her power has to be good for mobility and cannot be nerfed below a threshold of usability"
@@Yawyna124 pedantry is what I'm good at. And I am correct, they lowered her speed because her power was too strong and it gave her too much movement. It doesn't make sense to design a slow killer and then say "oh they're slow so they need a movement based power" it makes much more sense that they created this power and said "oh her movement speed makes her power too strong we need to change it so that she has to use her power to catch up"
@@ArianaNyxi You are *correct*, but you did not make a *correction*. Gnolex made no claim as to which order as her being slower than survivors and her blinks being good at mobility came. They claimed: "Because [she's slower than survivors] her power has to be good for mobility and cannot be nerfed below a threshold of usability" In response to "as long as she's as slow as she is, it is difficult to nerf blinks" you said "actually, they made her slow because her blinks are good mobility." Do you see how your pedantry is pointless and not even a proper reply to anything that was said?
@@Yawyna124 the line "Because of this design decision her power has to be good for mobility and cannot be nerfed below a threshold of usability." *implies* that the slow movement speed is an integral part of the killer and cannot be changed. The simple fact of the matter is that the speed is *due* to her power, not something that is a part of the character. In fact it would almost make more sense to change the power to be less mobile and make her speed in line with the other killers
I’m a new nurse player. Back when she first released I was one of the people that tried her a few times and gave up because I felt that I couldn’t build skill with her but I recently started experimenting with her and now I mastered her.
I genuinely think the nurse should stay powerful as she is. You need to soak dozens of hours into the game to get good with her and I think it should be rewarded with that level of power.
For more recent viewers, all flashlight interactions with Killer's powers have been removed. Nurse can't have her blink blocked by flashlights. Wraith can't be stunned while invisible Hag traps can't be cleaned with Flashlights Artist crows can't be dispelled/cleaned Only Nemesis zombies can still be stunned (they're TECHNICALLY part of his power)
The nurse is generously unhealthy for the entire games as she can ignore all gameplay mechanics except hooking to win and even so she can decide to slug.
Honestly it sounds like if the cooldowns on cooldowns were removed she'd be in a better state. And then keep the fatigue mechanic but instead of the shaky head make it tunnel and blur her vision and essentially lower mouse sensitivity so she can't look around easily and maybe her walking speed too. Maybe add an audio sound effect to help players get a feel for the length of the fatigue. It sill limits sight and makes survivors hard to track after a botch but doesn't make people sick. And with blurred tunnel vision the nurse can see the direction a survivor ran in but can't necessarily see the exact type of juke the survivor is going for. Another option is to to make her all or nothing. It means new players will still struggle with her but it will raise both her skill floor and ceiling. If the nurse blinks and then doesn't score a hit AT ALL she gets a super long fatigue. If she lands the hit she gets very little. Final option is to remove fatigue entirely and give her only one blink and buff her movespeed to that of other killers. Make that blink precious.
@@grayski3324 Yes, a massive one. Now there less killers, lost choices, less builds, less add-ons, and you've spat in the face of those who play them. Demogorgon being removed from the store was a massive development, imagine how big characters being outright removed would be.
i'm someone who gets motion sick in really dark maps---i really want to learn nurse, but the last time i played her in a custom match with friends, i could barely do it because being on a darker map combined with the fatigue made me feel god awful lmao
as a nurse main, the fatigue and blink cooldown is so annoying but i think that because of how strong nurse is that it balances it well for killer and survivor.
Lovin the video as always, interesting and educational.. but it does bring back painful memorys from the custom games when we played against your nurse 🤣
The only thing I'd change is whenever she teleports through an object she consumes 2 blinks instead of 1 and to balance this out she should have 3 blinks, but make them shorter distance. That way they'd close the gap between skilled and unskilled nurses. And I'd change her fatigue so she doesn't look down and shake her head but looks the same direction, but her vision gets blurred and her hearing gets disoriented for a second.
I started playing right when the first summer event happened in dbd and I got into nurse goddamn is so was hard to actually get good but I’m so proud I got her she walk in the void achievement during that time
The nurse’s weakness is the player playing her she was made back when survivors could vault an infinite amount of times and could heal mid chase while gaining the exhaustion back while running!
I like the idea of an insanely powerful killer with a high skill floor I think she just needs to be reworked because it seems that a lot of killer perks will never be as fun as they could be because she and to an extent blight works and quite frankly once you get the muscle memory down you already can play.
I’ve always been thinking the best way to balance nurse is like running both iridescent addons on her. For clarificarion, if you run both, you get a somewhat faster base movement speed but slower recharge for blinks. I think it would make her less frustrating to go against on higher level and not as punishing to play her on a lower one. Thoughts?
I genuinely think we need more killers like the nurse. Not necessarily teleporters, but killers that have powers that throw a wrench in the whole would-be juicer looper playstyle. An example being something like a statue killer that has many statues around the map that can be switched to and moved a la twins/hag. Idk but the whole "get in chase" gameplay loop is really trite and boring.
You could say it works in BHVR's favor in a PR sense keeping her on the throne as she is, with her being a BHVR OC and free, the skill ceiling for killers is already set and available for you to get better at at your leisure.
Beginner player, beginner Nurse here. I think that while she's a stronger killer than most, she's in a good spot balance-wise, and it's the weaker killers that should be centered in the conversation. My hot take on game balance is that the focus shouldn't be on making every killer roughly the same power level but on making them feel wildly different to play. A diverse roster - even with a lot of power imbalance - makes for a more diverse and interesting play experience than trying to bring everything in line. Look at how Overwatch self-destructed trying to be fair and competitive.
Also I'll die if I don't brag about this but I went on a six-game streak of zero escapes on my second day of playing and I think very genuinely that this is balanced by the sheer amount of stress it required. Nurse has a hidden mechanic where every game you play at maximum focus takes six months off the end of your life
I enjoy these videos alot when you go through all the changes on killers and perks as I have been playing this game since release on ps4 so like 2017 and always been off and on it but have been playing again alot recently after years and everything is so different now

7 blinks are back
Funny thing is it wasn’t even a debuff
It was a buff disguised as a debuff.
By bringing back 7 blink nurse
And 24 hours after that nerf announcement she was buffed
Honestly, I’d love a part two on the nurse. She still has some history to get to where we are now, but maybe there could also be speculation on what could change to make her in a more healthy state🤔
To nerf nurse you gotta like, unironically buff every other killer in the game so the killer community doesn't simultaneously uninstall.
make her fatigue last longer so you get rewarded for playing well and punished for playing badly.

"Things needed to change."
-Ardetha 2022-2023
Was boutta write this XD
Except for the Hillbilly video, of course.
Sometimes, things _didn't_ need to change
*Make blink attacks special attacks*
Bam. And just like that, every Starstruck Agitation Nurse has collectively shot themselves.
@@farronblaze2952 Started playing the nurse and I absolutely love this build, so I can confirm if they make her blinks specials I would immediately drop her lol.
I think her blink attacks used to be special attacks until an update about 3~ years ago for some reason that they never fixed/reverted

Bots are pretty trash tho so they aren't really going to help you improve that much
@@deathknight1239 It’s not necessary about the bots so much as it is about the self - learning blink ranges and lunge windows and all that. And much better to learn that in a practice match than a live server with four humans you’re likely to be humiliated against.

Simple thing that everyone has already said but the number one most needed nurse change is to make her blink attacks a special attack. She is already so strong that she doesn't need to take such good advantage of exposed effects.
that would be a rly good balancer tbh
Exposed effects on nurse is OP for sure but if you make her blinks special attacks she'll never be able to use perks like sloppy butcher

Because the Nurse isn't a problem in the game. Aderpa is just creating panic just for the clicks.
12:56 THIS PART IS SO FUNNY I WOULD DO THE SAME TOO IF I ENCOUNTER A PRO NURSE
I've been waiting for this video for a long while now. Thanks, Ardetha.
Based on the singularity I have an idea for a nurse rework
Which is that rather than nerfing her because she is fun to play as is, create an in level item like a special torch that lets survivors temporarily deactivate her blinks, but also give her a speed boost forcing her to chase like a regular killer for a small duration. That might create a nice middle ground where you aren’t just nerfing an awesome killer, but you’re actually giving the survivors a chance to fight back
How about...
1) make her blink 3 stages, short, med, long
2) short blink uses 1/3 your blink bar, med uses 2/3, long uses 3/3
3) your blink bar moves along showing the charge youve expended so its easier to know how far youre going
4) Addons can limit the blink distances, lock you to one distance (you only make medium range blinks), increase recharge rate, change your base movement rate in exchange for only short blinks.
Too bad behavior dont care/dont know how to code
@@asain3586 they have learned it by now. Or better, they employed People who do.

I never played DBD and probably never will, but somehow you made me watch every single video you have in this format, what kind of forbidden magic are you using?
You just have too much time on your hands and are bored and should likely find better things to do with all that time
That's all
Saw this video at some point and decided I'd main Nurse for all of 3 weeks.
Yah tell me about it I played my first match of nurse in years and I can’t believe have people can main her
I was a high rank nurse main killer and played during her golden age, yes, there was plenty of clunky jank but the fact that nurse didn't have to deal with looping was all the encouragement I needed to get good at her.
Should be there for Xbox 🥲
I think the only good Nurse change suggestion i've seen is making it so her first blink works as normal, but her second blink can't go through terrain, I think that still keeps her strong while adding a hell of a lot more counterplay and skill to her
Without buffing her movement speed this would really make her completely unplayable, especially on indoor maps.
meh. it doesn't do that much
@@gantref9202 oh so just stronger wesker lmfao, any ability that can allow you to teleport through walls is op af, imagine huntress being able to throw hatchets through walls, that’s what nurse does
@@M4XXXXXXXX Well Huntress isn't any way shape or form a top tier killer so we can't compare her to Nurse.
Not for the solid majority.
He cited about 20 games to go from "struggling" to "okay, now I can actually accomplish something."
I haven't seen a single person who says Nurse is "easy to learn" actually show me the receipts. So I'm inclined to believe it's the usual Survivor bullshit: "If we all bleat the same refrain loud enough, Behavior will do something about it."
Yeah, I am bitter.
She is easier to learn than some of the killers. I played her few times and won or draw every time
She isn't that hard. I gave a Saturday to practice a particular killer, and she gave me faster results than Billy
"The nurse is hard to learn" does not make her current performance acceptable. Sure it takes some time, but when that time is passed, "balance" gets defenestrated and the survivors are just at the mercy of the killers skill level. That should not happen. Ridiculously Average has made an excellent video about this. I suggest you check it out
nah shes not that hard sure your not gonna be doing good the first few games but once you get a feel for the blink its not that hard
I feel like there is a way that you can add a fatigue state without making people literally feel sick.
1) Give her the Blindness status effect until at least 1 blink charge is back (so you can’t just see someone with BBQ or any other info perks straight after downing or hooking someone)
2) Add an accessibility feature for people with motion sickness so they can play Nurse (idk what this would be so any ideas would be appreciated)
3) Darken the screen while recovering (think like Nightfall but a bit brighter)
Maybe make it so there's no screen wobbling? Just have it go down and remove the wobbling.
I mean with new DH thats basically the case isn't it?

if a character is technically overpowered, but has very low kill rate and is extremely hard to master, then are they really overpowered?
Their NOT hard to master I have no idea why people say this. I am a average Killer with a pretty iffy kill rate but the moment I picked up Doctor even without knowing how to play her my kill rate skyrocketed. Her ability isn't hard that is a issue. Plus, if something skips game mechanics that's still a issue.
nurse ain't hard at all to master lol, a 700hrs nurse player can easily beat 2000+ hrs survivors with relative ease, hillbilly or blight have a much higher learning curve, and just because people don't play as her very often doesn't mean she isn't overpowered
Thank you for subtitling your video. Even though my hearing is good usually, it helps having visual reinforcement to draw my attention to the words

The Nurse and the Twins are much more similar to each other than I thought
The best way to counter twins is by not slamming victor off your back unfortunately most players still havent figured that out, most twins players spam victor for attacks , i would normally hold on to victor as long as i can while looping the sister, but in solo matches no one catches on to that

So his sister would be forced to chase me giving other survivors time to activate gens

Great video as always!
she used to be my least favourite but honestly it's not too hard to avoid her blink attacks if you're paying attention, the nurse has to think about trajectory, how far the blink can actually take them and where a survivor might move to in order to catch them. I just don't think she's the strongest killer anymore idk
My point is I don't think she needs to be nerfed
Even if I'm stealthy and unpredictable, she still hits me... Everything you said falls apart when the nurse brings aura reveal perks with her
My boy casually playing the rayman 3 ost in the background. BIG W
@@MrcreeperDXD777 Right, I forgot that Twins are punished for hitting with power as well (unless they'll do a slug party). It feels like ages since I saw them last time.
The devs need to do several things.
1: start playing their game and testing their changes.
2: if they’re not gonna do that, listen to the players that they’re making test these changes
3: listen to the communities suggestions on how to fix something instead of doing whatever the hell they want and potentially causing more problems
These are problems I see with a good few of the games I like, it seems as if the devs don’t play their own game or listen to the people who are playing it.
Boy howdy do I have good news for you Lmao.
Damn bro coming to think of it
I only played nurse for 1 month straight and didnt win a single game with her (yes not one out of prob more than 100)
only for me now having learned her getting consistent 3 to 4 kills a game
Its been 1day 1DAY since he uploaded the video and its already is outdated damn
(Inspired by another comment about nurse being a hide-and-seek killer.)
Maybe that/\ could be a rebalance, make nurse's blink attacks an insta-down, but give her permanent blindness and make any and all movement speed buffs be ignored, give her 3 blinks basekit but she can't get anymore (maybe the macth box could make nurse into more of a chase killer, like she is now?), make her screech as the match starts so survivors have to try and hide (maybe even tell the survivor as they laod in and give a loadout change screen, so survivors can make thier build stealth based). This will ramp up tension, provide direct counterplay, and will give a unique playstyle.
People who say the Nurse is broken. Have you ever tried to use urban evasion to hide instead of using Meta Perks all the time?
Killer perks like nowhere to hide and even spies in the shadows can eliminate that as a strategy.
*laughs in Whispers*
Most nurses run aura reading perks, and urban evasion is countered by multiple killer abilities, so no I don't think I have
There's a reason most survivors hate when people use urban evasion and hide the entire match. Plus a lot of killers use aura reading perks and it doesn't help after a killer has seen you
2 nerfs:
her second blink is an M2
make it so either whilst charging her power OR whilst blinking, she, like Spirit, cannot read auras
I was playing a KYF yesterday and I got 2 lightburns with Flasbangs. It felt good because wraith fast
Edit: I hope you feel better Arde
Maybe they can add in the fatigue a "blinking animation" making the screen intermittently black (like blinking eyes) for 3 or 4 times
*aggressively types away letting you know how she's balanced and takes crazy skill to use her* 🙄🙄🙄🙄
It doesnt take crazy skill to use her tho 😂😂😂
Smh he just doesn't get it so tragic 😔
The problem with the nurse is that yeah it takes skill and practice but once a bunch of people reach the necessary skill level she breaks the game.
@@vxskud I've got a 4k with only strider and nurses calling, yeah tons of "skill" involved in playing nurse
24hrs later 7 blink nurse said hi
A quick but possibly bad fix for the nurse could be simply making her second blink a special attack and make it so she can’t blink through walls 😅
the first one is going in the ptb coming out tomorrow 😭
A good change but then they should recharge away from her blinks
@@TaggedByTim personally not only should her blinks be special attacks which they are now but if you stun her her blinks reset
Sorry I’ve just reread your reply and that is literally what you just said 😂
Lmao a great comparison 😂 “ the darth Vader of dbd” I feel like the rebels in rogue one when you come across a 10k hour one
It’s because survivor mains cry too much not just on the nurse majority of killers. They basically want the killer to be powerless 🤣
Ardetha: Posts a video with detailed information about something
BHVR: Anyway, here is another bunch of changes to make the video outdated
the old nurse should have never been nerfed. yeah it was OP but the level of skill it took to get that point was insane, this current nurse is less powerful but much easier to learn
12:34 when playing against nurse, i am this feng
Eliminate the ability to teleport through walls. Simple as that. You can even buff her speed if needed, but most of her problems would be fixed if should was unable to teleport through walls. Windows and pallets, sure, but not walls. It would work, and Wesker is a good example of that. Oh and also her blink should not be a basic attack
Also just use the normal personal stun effect for her fatigue. Being forced to look down is enough, the shuddering is to off putting
Slight correction, she's slow because of her power, not the other way around
They claimed:
"Because [she's slower than survivors] her power has to be good for mobility and cannot be nerfed below a threshold of usability"
In response to "as long as she's as slow as she is, it is difficult to nerf blinks" you said "actually, they made her slow because her blinks are good mobility."
Do you see how your pedantry is pointless and not even a proper reply to anything that was said?
Meanwhile every other killer suffers because their perks need to be nerfed to compensate her. Great mindset
@@godfrey4461 Im not sure what you mean by that
For more recent viewers, all flashlight interactions with Killer's powers have been removed.
Nurse can't have her blink blocked by flashlights.
Wraith can't be stunned while invisible
Hag traps can't be cleaned with Flashlights
Artist crows can't be dispelled/cleaned
Only Nemesis zombies can still be stunned (they're TECHNICALLY part of his power)
That's kinda boring :/ more interaction would be fun
I think the nurse should have 1 blink and she would still be very strong, but she would now have counterplay
nearly 2 years later and a noob nurse like me can go on an 11 win streak with 6-7 of them being 4 kills.
Been waiting for her to get deleted from the game
Deleting one of the most fun killers to play as wouldnt be a good move on their side.
@@-_Jayden_- Deleting any killer is a bad idea
@@-_Jayden_- oh believe me it absolutely would be
@@ThyBigCheddar Would losing Freddy or Clown be a big development, lol?
The TIMING of this upload was very insane considering Behavior literally just announced nerfs for her today XDD
Lovin the video as always, interesting and educational.. but it does bring back painful memorys from the custom games when we played against your nurse 🤣
"Default Blinks: 3"
*vine boom*
Might have to create an update on this video after the 7 blink ptb nurse
"Things needed to change"
Every other killer: [sweats profusely]
Nurse: "All that for a drop of blood"
it's so nice seeing you dust off your old nurse. it may of been temporary, but it was nice to see the king of nurse back on his throne.
All low tier killers deserve a good buff, but none should look like the nurse
