I have a JJRC X12, and have not had any issues. You have to connect to the controller, and calibrate it before each flight. You also have to give it ample time for a GPS lock. Sometimes it takes longer than other times to get a good satellite signal and lock. It also is not made to fly in cold temperatures. It has descent range, but lacks in that category. The RTH has worked every single time, and the drone is pretty stable for the most part. I enjoy flying my JJRC X12 and am happy to have it as part of my fleet.

Hi, I have that drone and it flies rock solid, the trick it's that you need to calibrate both the compass and the GPS every time you fly in order to obtain a steady flight, try it you'll see , Thank you for sharing !! 👍😎✌
H E mine won’t calibrate when you attempt the compass calibration ever. As soon as it gets to the “facing up” step it fails every time. It has failed almost every single time the past three months. Constant interference, fly aways and now the gimbal stopped working. I wish I would have got a good one like other folks! It did fly great the first few times then went downhill.
What can you say about the gimbal performance ? Do you get jello free video footage ?
Michel Monney at first the video was fantastic and so was the gimble. After about 4 or 5 flights the gimbal stops working randomly in the sky or before I even take off and the video is wavy sometimes and super shaky. If you get a good working one though it’s a great drone
I have one as well. It flies fine after calibration, which you have to do before each flight.
I tried calibrating it multiple times.
I have an Eachine E58 and a 520S and have never had any problems with either of them.

Can I suggest going for some patches of acoustic isolation in the shop's empty walls? There's a tiny reverb pouring into the mic that is really noticeable coming from other channels, and it shades a bit the overall great impression. Thomas Salander (unrelated 3D print guy) did recently a video of this mod in a his new place and it was a quick and cheap improvement.

Always have to wonder what part of market share the manufacturers of these drones are thinking they are going to get. Not the returning customer. Not the experienced drone customer. In fact, if you think about it, they are really trying to get the 1st time drone buyer market. And make sure that the 1st time buyer never buys another drone again. Can't tell you how many times I've been out flying, when some one will come up to me and mention how that bought a drone and crashed it the first day or week of having it. Great video, great review.

I'm not from DJI. Just a pretty unhappy fella that got fooled by the price. All the smart marketing out there will suck in the CHEAPSKATES like me and less than a month later I'm having to fork out for the DJI because it works and I can buy one from a UK seller with all the benefits that brings.

Totally agree with you on this video. The hardware is pretty good but the software just isn’t up to par. Getting GPS satellites to connect is an issue. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to lock on to any available sats and once you do calibrations they sometimes fail. Its not a bad drone for the price but what you’re really paying for is an “okay” camera with a 3 axis gimbal and brushless motors. The rest is all hyped up to sell on paper. I wish they could’ve at least included a protective case for the gimbal. Who knows maybe they’ll give us a software update which can be installed via micro SD card. I truly doubt that will ever happen. But for this price you can get a Fimi A3 or Hubsan Zino 1 and get better performance GPS and Camera/Gimbal wise.

I'm late to the party on this one, but this review is spot on regarding my experience with this drone: slow and slow to respond to the controls inputs, and a challenge to get GPS lock. One flight it was about 20 feet in the air and abruptly fell to the ground. Clearly I didn't get a good one, mine just can't be trusted. 😕

By the lights on the controller you were flying without any GPS signal, so the optical and ultrasound sensors were triggered. You could mention that in the video.
The speed and handle of it is fast and solid on low and high altitudes.

Based on your controller, its in altitude mode not in gps mode based on the red light beside the green light. Thats why its so unstable. Pressing the M button would change to gps mode, turning the red light to green. Thanks!
Yes. That is true. It had to be flown in altitude mode because it would not acquire satellites.
I just received my EX4 which i bought to practise flying before risking my Mavic 2 Pro. Banggood shipped it badly packed, the box was beaten up resulting in a jammed camera gimbal which i managed to fix. Yes the satellite acquisition is very slow. Even with 12 satellites the drone "toilet bowled" for a good while on its 1st flight. However it was much better on subsequent flights(same location, same day). I will try again today. The ambiant temperature was 4 degrees though. I fully agree that it appears to be firmware related. If the latter was revisited this USD 200.- could be well worth the money. Cheers !
@@Cervin_Suisse I recommend a Potensic D80 to practice with. App very similar to DJI with working telemetry. It is robust and flies well. GPS, RTH, Follow Me, Circling and Waypoint flying really works. Cam is good, but without a gimbal. If you can handle it, you can fly DJI without hesitation.

With the old 4k Mi drone there was a compass cal problem. If you did it as shown 80 percent of the time it would not work. However, if you tumbled the drone in a variety of directions it would lock on every time. Worth a try.

I have watched almost every other Eachine EX4 review on youtube. They all seemed to have mostly good things (somewhat 75%good-25%bad) to say about this drone and the JJRC X12 which is on all fours with this, especially because of the 200 dollars price point.
Your review, however, seems to knock this drone at every turn and opportunity, despite the obvious fact that we all agree that it is a pretty low-cost drone and not DJI grade.
Yes. But If it doesn’t fly right that is a big negative.
I also have an X12 and never had a problem ... For the money you cant go wrong as long as you use the C-Fly app :-)

I fought with this drone for 2 to 3 days determined to find the trick to
calibrating it and I was ready to give up then I tried this and it
WORKED for me over and over again so listen up and try this. 1: First
Press the button on the back of the drone to turn it on. you now have a
BLUE flashing light on the drone this is telling you it is trying to
connect to the controller so turn the controller on and when it is
connected the light on the drone will turn GREEN and it will be flashing
NOW connect the phone to your controller. now on the phone, it should
say in preparation, but your NOT ready to do the calibration
yet, what until the light on the drone goes GREEN and is NOT flashing
now on your phone, it should say READY-GO BUT It's NOT READY. NOW it's
ready for the calibration
because you have enough satellite lights only when the light goes green
and not flashing. The lights on the controller are ONLY telling you
what mode you're controller is in and NOT that you are connected to
anything some people thought that. NOW this is what I MUST DO to get the
dam thing to calibrate, the horizontal works fine every time BUT I
could NOT get the vertical to work it would say it was a success but it
was NOT. the drone was still in calibration mode. On the drone, it has a
RED/GREEN light flashing which is vertical calibration mode. SO what to
do? well, this works for me 7 out 10 times instead of never working at
all. When you do the calibrate first off some apps say calibrating in
blue on the phone when you see that it ISN'T tap the blue calibrating
Button again until you see it say TURN THE DRONE the light on the drone
will start flashing from green to red/blue I have seen some people try
to calibrate it when it was NOT ready to do so. NOW when it says turn the
drone horizontally do it about 3 times the light on the drone turn to
RED/GREEN the horizontal calibration
is dun and NOW the trick that works about 7 out of 10 times for me WHEN
it tells you to put the camera up and turn it watch your phone and PUT
the camera DOWN give it a quick half-turn then do it again if you don't
see your phone then tell you to turn it again do another half turn but
if you do see on your phone turn it again flip the Drone camera up
words and then turn it two or three times the light on the drone should go green and not flashing. This almost works every time for
me and it's the ONLY way I can get it to calibrate.

video looks much stable for the price. really, may be you got a lemon? and if you had mini you should try getting satellite on it the same time? lets have a comparison.
I have the JJRC X12 version and it flies great, very responsive. However, my gimble doesn't work. It does a power on calibration but it won't move while flying so it records like it was a toy drone with a fixed camera. (I'm still trying to get a replacement through Gearbest because it hasn't worked since day 1). One thing I noticed on the video...looking at the remote I noticed that it was in altitude mode instead of GPS mode. I dunno, maybe you had it in the mode because you couldn't get a GPS lock, but I'm sure you know that it can make a difference in how it flies.

My JJRC X12 gimbal is very unpredictable. Camera cannot change direction most of the time. The drone itself is stable.

I watched pretty every YT vid of this drone that were in English and non of them bashed it this much. Maybe your right and most your issues were pilot errors .... I have the JJRCx12 version. Is it a DJI.❓ No but it also isn’t 4 x the price of a Mavic. Sounds like Bugs paid you for the review.... lol. Because on paper Bugs4 dont compare. No gimbal, No Sensors. They are big, bulky and heavy . Maybe the JJRC x12 is made better than the EX4 ? So far mine has no issues works pretty good esp. for the money. You can’t review a product you don’t know, You failed to mention one very important thing NO FISH EYE like most drones on this level have .
The camera is good. I really wanted to love this thing. I’m not the only person having problems with it and this is t the only C-FLY drone I’ve flown that has issues. I’m glad yours is good. Mine is not. People should see the good and the bad.

Yes they absolutely should be worried. Between this, the autel evo 2 better than the mavic 2, the xdynamics evolve 2 competing with the inspire 2, the zino 2 and the fimi x8 se competing with the air but way cheaper. The poweregg x waterproof and can land on water.

the zino 2 4k60fps is 1/2 the price of the air or mavic 1.
The autel evo 2 is better than the mavic 2.
The skydio 2 definitely has way better obstacle avoidance.
Don't get me wrong I love my mavic mini and think dji is great. They will hopefully make a mavic 3 and blow it out of the water but currently they aren't necessary the top dogs anymore. They have real competition now and its ok for everyone to admit that.
@@saiyan_princestudios9790 You right, but Skydio 2 still crashes in places with many trees. Also, I don't know any situation where you would land on water. Sure the Zino is a great drone, but if you are really into drones you buy like the DJI Inspire. I can't wait for the Mavic 3 too. Nobody has still made a drone under 250 grams as DJI did. Those things are more important in my opinion.
@@oliviergoggins all of the youtube videos where the guy flew over water, ran low on batteries and didn't make it home (some just barely missing it) would have LOVED the option of landing on water and being able to swim out or take a boat and get it. Other people who enjoy fishing, or rich boat owners with yachts etc might enjoy thtat feature. Just being able to fly in the rain is a big deal too. Both on rainy days or an unexpected storm hits.
I'm not saying the skydio 2 is perfect. I am saying I've been blown away by what some people are doing with it. Having it follow them perfectly in the city while they ride electric scooters or skateboards, dodging powerlines and people and cars. I would never fly it like that lol way to reckless but its amazing to watch at least.
Not everyone can afford an inspire right away..lol. Being able to get a zino 2 or a fimi x8 se (basically a mavic pro 1) at 1/2 the price is a big deal. A very big deal.
Autel evo 2 being better than the mavic 2 is also a very big deal. Thousands of pilots are selling their mavics or evo 1's and buying the evo 2. At least till they make a mavic 3 but who knows when that will happen.
And yes the mavic mini is awesome. I fully agree there.

This is the same as JJRC x12. I bought one three months ago and it flew great for about two weeks and now it’s an absolute disaster. Compass calibration almost never works, magnetic interference no matter where I go. Gimbal stops working mid flight. When it flys right it looks great! But that’s maybe 1 out of 20 flights if your lucky.
I felt the same way about it, watched captain drones review, looked great, seen some others that looked great, I was convinced and I bought it. It’s now pretty much a pile of junk. And of course I can’t get my money back, and there’s no way to fix it. Every time I attempt to fly it, it’s worse and worse. I even had a near fly away a couple times as it took a life of its own and decided to do whatever it wanted.
I’m uploading a video today about all my bad experiences in hopes to keep more people from supporting this company. We really need to up the standards of these companies who don’t have customer support and put out garbage and then we just have to eat the money when they don’t fly!
Now to be fair there are some people who have no issues with them. So apparently they just have a ton of bad ones and a ton of good ones lol
TECHNODRONE would love to see your video. Please send me the link. Btw. There are difference between JJRC and EaChine models. Eg. JJRC doesn’t support Glonass whereas C-Fly & Eachine support dual GPS

TECHNODRONE yeah they’re very similar but they are all different slightly. Not sure if the different companies order them from c-fly with different options or whether c-fly only makes only lower specification models available to resell, afterall the c-fly version is more expensive so maybe they try protecting that price. However both the c-fly and Eachine support dual gps whilst the JJRC version does not. There may be other differences as well which I’m not aware of. I would love to get my hands on one but I don’t want to but smoother drone as I have 4x MVP1, 1x Mavic air and 2 x P3S
xray364 interesting! I wish I had a DJi drone :( I should have saved my money when I bought the JJRC but I didn’t know I was gonna get a bad one. I did however pre order the Hubsan Zino 2! If it ever gets here lol I also have a Bugs3 which is my favorite and a tinyhawk 2. Soon I’m gonna start building my own racing quad. I enter all kinds of giveaways every week and one of them was for a Mavic pro 2. I had to upload a 60 second video and convince them why I should win it lol. I put a lot of work into that video lol still waiting on results Mx the Mavic pro 2 to me is my dream drone , I think it’s one of the best drones out there from what I have seen! But I wouldn’t mind owning a Mavic mini or air as well! Found me a Tello at the local pawn shop for 20 bucks last week going to pick it up this week but not too excited as I know about the issues it has with range, Bluetooth lag and the fact it doesn’t have an as card. But for 20 bucks it’s worth it just to have another drone lol

Question for you. Did you ever test the Eachine EX4 away from houses. You probably was getting frequency interference with the drone. Wireless house phones use the same frequency band that all drones control on. I would try to fly in a less condensed area. This is what I think your control problem issue was. Thanks.

Then why not activate GPS flight by pushing the "M" button up left on your RC. You got a Red-Green-light whitch means nonGPS. I have a C-fly dream ( AND a Mavic2 Zoom) and it takes a while to find those sattelites, but when it does, its quite responsive and stable. Still it has a slow topspeed overall.

Oh no not again I had the same problem with the X6 Aircus drone I end up ordering three of them in all three did not perform well. I just ordered the EX 4 drone about a week ago.
Why did you order 3?
From my understanding is the red and green lights on the controller means GPS is off..... for GPS it should both be green.. red and green means only optical flow is on and meant for indoor flight... outside with GPS off.. obviously the wind is going to push it all over the place... lack of knowledge of specific features on any drone when doing a review is not fair to the drone...
Perhaps commenting when not listening to the review is also not fair. It would not fly in GPS mode. Hence the switching it off.

I see a lot of negative comments on your video I wish I had seen your video before I bought this piece of junk. Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt or hurt someone when flying this drone. For us it all of a sudden just got away from us for no reason and if anyone was in the way they would have at the very least a bad headache. Thanks for telling the truth. not real 4K. It's like the same 4K on those budget action cams. They really can't do native 4K. Picture is really 1080 and enhancecd with software.

These drones aren't meant to be flown in very cold weather; that much we know. So how can one properly rate these types of drones, when the weather isn't optimal?

I wonder if they couldnt calibrate it because they didnt do it correctly. The vertical calibration needs to be done 5 feet above the ground

I wanted this drone to work. I think it has excellent hardware. I attempted to calibrate it many times in multiple locations. Places where I’ve flown drones before.
I have flown many drones. This particular one is bad. Are they all bad no. I did even mention Captain Drones review. I don’t hate CFly. I do think their history of poor quality control is relevant.

I would agree.
This is the kind of review you have to watch with some carefulness... Just imagine the BMW guy asking "Toyota Corolla... Should BMW M3 be worried? Jojojoj.. Of course no...". We are talking about two completely different drone segments. However, I've flown my EX4 for a while, without any issue, for about 20 mins flight time and a very decent video quality... I could buy at least 6 EX4 for each Mavic. Furthermore, the flying test they've done is not fair. EX4 is far from "uncontrollable". If your in doubt, just watch the other hundreds of EX4 reviews on UA-cam.

I have bought this drone and to tell u truth i really didn't recomend this drone from the cfly or jjrc as this drone will have multiple issue and this issue very hard to solve it as they don't have professional technician . as my problem require to change the main board and on power on the drone flash pink color led, talk and ask for the issue, the answer is " we don't know "...waste 2 main board .. please consider buying on other drone from a good reputation and well known company that offer a f/w update, and have a cust service..
I can confirm you never know what the drone is doing next, even if you think you got all under control. Stay away and use a Helmet because the drone is doing jerky movements sometimes ;-) In my case i guess the controller is the master of universe and the Dictator of all the shitty movements
how come there are so many owners that have no problems flying these drones and even comment how easy and safe they are to fly? User error?

It’s def not user error. It’s just hit or miss! Some people get ones that don’t have issues and others do. I have attempted to fly mine about 30 times over the past three months and never once has the compass calibration worked without failing over and over again. Magnetic interference every single time, fly aways, and the most recent is the gimbal stopped working and return to home no longer works.

maybe this drone dont seem to like u that's why it won't work quite well when u and ur sidekick try to operate it...while i've seen some reviews and they work perfectly well with other people...
Keep looking there are plenty of bad reviews.
Just pony up the extra 200 and get a mini... twice the money and 10x the quality. I have owned both the ex4 and mini.

It would be better if he read the instruction DUH Controller has red gps light as you did not set up properly .When All else fails READ THE MAnual.
I did. That’s how I got it in that mode BECAUSE GPS wasn’t working.

You know I have seen multiple other videos with the jjrc 12x and everyone seems to love it. So not sure. What the problem. Is but you guys seemed a little snobbish about your expectations. For 200 dollar drone since it seemed like you where rushing it.
Take a look at the comments. We are not alone. For $200 I expect the drone to be able to accomplish what it says it should.

Read the MANUAL, FLYING OUTSIDE WITH THE INSIDE SETTING YOU ARE RIGHT, ITS SLOW. try matching the transmitter to your phone, that's what controls the drone. Stick to what you know, leave it to the experts. No not me, Captain DRONE.

It's obvious you guys had a faulty drone. No gps, poor control with the controller. So not a fair review although you should expect it to work straight out of the box. Unfortunately sometimes doesn't work out that way. Not sure how you'd go about getting a repair under warranty though. That's the biggest issue with those chinese sites

Tip: if you're doing a review of a camera drone, include the best footage you could take with it. Don't just show us less than 2 min of video taken from your driveway. You cover everything except the RESULTS it yields. That is the ONLY thing I really care about. Your review is almost completely useless without that.

This video is garbage, GPS is not activated and you have to calibrate it, this video only shows that you must read the manual before flying this drone, I have the jjrc x9 that is the previous model and for me, this drone is wonderful.

You could have mention the weight of the drone, in case someone wants to buy one for the first time.
In China they don't know about the 250 grams restriction, so they give you the weight of the drone in a box with the controller...

I have an article with written descriptions and links should you not be able to spend 9 min and 53 seconds of your life. But why is the weight so relevant? This drone is unreliable.
@@HalfChrome In Canada, if the drone is more than 250 grams, you need a drone pilot license. Anything less than 250 we are good. This drone is unreliable, but for me as a first time buyer, I don't know which one is what.... I know the king at 250 grams, the Mavic mini.
Which I cannot afford right now. Do you know a drone you can suggest, that comes close to the cinematic quality of a Mavic mini? I have seen many reviews, from youtubers about cinermatic drones, but all they do is fly up and down like freestyle. Nothing against you....just frustrated!!!

The only other sub 250 gram drone is the bugs 7 but it is no where near the quality of the Mavic Mini.

no dji shouldn't be worried about every piece of shit drone that comes out. the camera is an abomination, the gimbal is trash the drone itself loses signal in like 5 meters distance. stop cheaping out on shitty drones and trying to defend your purchase because DJI is "overpriced" and this is better. save up money and buy quality stuff

I don't think it's fake. The thing is these cookie cutter drones will and always be a hit or miss. The quality control just isn't there and that's on both hardware and software. They just want to make a profit off of the budget crowd. It is what it is.
