Fantastic review...and drone! Another great thing is that unlike the DJI Mini drones, there is no "big-brother" geofencing to deal with that can very quickly lock down your drone. You really do the best drone reviews, it's nice to see you enjoy your work.
Great video, thanks. Just a quick note. I received my Atom today and they’ve fixed the glue issue on the gimbal cover. It only had a very small sticker that did not leave any residue. I guess they’re listening and fixing stuff 👍
I got the Atom from Amazon yesterday. I’m so glad I’m returning the SE for this one. The gimbal is a game changer. Thanks for this review again bro!!! Next I want to look into getting 107 certified :)
@@lowzb9685 the gimbal gives more level footage. On the SE I was zooming the footage in and rotating. I did not like the output. Otherwise the two operate the same. I am now using a DJI mini 4K. The DJI using dual frequencies for control works so much better for me not losing it if signal got weak due to being around structures, etc.
The field of view is less than 1/2 of what it was. For those who like doing landscape videos, that's a big change. A firmware change they can do is a pan and 180 mode like the Mini2 SE has. It can stitch 6 pan shots together or do 9 shots stitched together in the 180 mode.
Great video and review.. I ordered one and I am waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for going over the features. This is one of the best reviews I have seen.. Thanks for posting.. Have a nice day.. Happy flying...
That looks like a really good drone. It's good the DJI will have some serious competition in the small camera drone market. The real plus for many is that it doesn't appear to have onboard RID like most of the DJI sub-250 drones. I think the Mini 2SE is the only one without RID in the DJI line-up.
I've been looking and comparing the different drones and this is by far the best drone for the$!!! Sooooooo glad I waited to get this one looks like it's a winner for sure thanks for the video been waiting to confirm that it's really as good as it says THANKS!!!!!
IF Potensic adds an "Obstacle Avoidance" feature in a future edition, they would blow the competition out of the water. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
Indeed, Potensic did good on this one. Keep in mind that even though the SE batteries do fit and work in the ATOM, they are heavier and push the overall weight >249g which is a bit disappointing but I get that the weight for the gimbal had to come from somewhere I suppose. Not likely that anyone will be carrying around a scale to check weight but... 😎
Good question. I ordered the Atom and it's on the way. I also already have the SE and love it besides the horizon tilt. Wonder if the remotes are the same and interchangable? Also wonder if the Potensic fly ap is the same on the phone or an upgraded one.. @@randydue7993 @AlienDrones
It does look similar in that it captures the device in the middle. I kind of like it when flying, the weight is more centered in the hands than having a device hanging on the top and being top heavy.
@@AlienDrones I think I'm going to like that as well. The N1 remote seemed to be top heavy, and I would a bit cautious about dropping my phone. The phone is worth more than three of these drones, even the Mini 2 SE. Which, if you read my other comment, I am returning as it failed out of the box. DJI didn't impress me with that one.
@@Kipoyy Thanks for the thought! The DJI Mini 3 is almost double the price of the ATOM so you'd expect there to be feature and/or performance increase for the Mini 3, at least there should be. I expect the obstacle avoidance would be worth a premium by itself. Value wise a Mini 2 would probably be a better value comparison... 🤙
Just received one yesterday. They LISTENED TO YOU and ditched the gummy sticker and replaced it with a smaller "way less sticky" label!! Good tips! thanks!
hey on the app when the camera is in use there is a little plus ad minus symbol is changes the camers irising and makes the color better and it takes the super bright white out of it .
I have the Atom SE but this drone looks really good with the upgrades Potensic have done, especially that 3 gimbal axis. Will be buying this asap! Great review too btw :)
@@LaNoturna1115 Sorry, that's completely false, actually just the opposite. DJI makes some decent products but they are also under all kinds of scrutiny regarding illegal data transfers, not Potensic, and the stability of the Atom is great. That being said from a legality standpoint I hear DJI drones can pass the bar exam and give legal advice mid-flight so... 😂😂
Great video. I just bought one today. I own a DJI Phantom 4 Pro I use for work but I wanted some of my own that was more affordable. Looking forward to receiving it.
Could you make a video adding RID modules so we could see where the best placement is for flight characteristics as well as not blocking the GPS signals? Great video!
Thanks one more time 😊.. I am wondering if the ND filters in the market, say from DJI, fit the Potensic ATOM ? I will happy to know your experience using them.. thanks 😊
I did try a few different filters and the way the gimbal initializes and the way the mount is designed interferes with anything I tried. I got one to work from EXO, kind of, but didn't have a chance to fly it with it on. I asked Potensic and they said they have no plans to develop NDs for this ATOM but the _next_ model will have them (I'm assuming a PRO model) so not sure if anything else will work for this one. Seems like there's just no room that will allow that gimbal to calibrate with it on. I ended up adjusting everything and just cranking the shutter speed up, not optimum but that's one of the compromises for the value I guess...
With Autel done with the Nano and Lite consumer level drones, it's nice to see another option without geofencing. The video looks pretty good. Some minor adjustments in post wouldn't hurt.
I have the se without the 3 axis gimbal, i enjoy it and will be saving up to get the 3 axis soon. The height restriction is a real issue. If i were trying to shoot from ground and wanted to get some shoots going up a tall hill or a mountain, i am gonna be seriously limited. This looks like a winner in my book, time to get my 107 and get busy.
Thanks for sharing! I run into that hill issue all the time as I live in the midst of a couple of mountains, end up being skipping off the tree tops about 75' up and the remote still shows 394' 👍🌴
Great review!!! I really enjot all of your videos. I am currently been debating between the this Potensic you reviewed and the DJI mini 4k, was wondering if you had an opinion on which is a better deal. Keep up the great videos!!!
Thank you for the kind words! Right now I saw the ATOM with 3 batteries on sale for $349. amzn.to/3KojpqZ The Mini 4k is $449, amzn.to/3Vot2fR so from a price standpoint the ATOM is like 25% cheaper. The ATOM also has active track type visual follow, which the DJI does not have, and DJI has that darn Geo-Fencing and the ATOM does not, so depending if these are important to you it may help. Also, keep in mind that the DJI Mini 4k is an old drone technology wise (which is now over 4 years old), they just renamed the Mini 2 and they lowered the price and re-released it, that's why it isn't available on DJIs site, it was already obsoleted. It is still a decent drone, don't get me wrong, it still flies really good. It is disappointing that DJI demanded that all the influencers not mention this when they reviewed the product (which they did not, but you can tell in the comments that they were really sketchy when they were asked directly). I think they re-released this to take a bite out of the ATOM sales, which filled a good low cost, decent performing drone market, but that's just IMHO. Honestly there are good reasons to get the DJI too, lots of accessories available and DJI does a good job overall. I think either would treat you well, let me know what you decide! 😎
Just when I was locked on to the Holy Stone 360 I see your (great) review on what sounds like a better buy! The only reason I'm seeking a new drone is because my DJI Mavic Air is outdated & I don't want the hassle of the FAA registration. I think I flew it twice. Plus, I'm going on an epic adventure motorcycle ride in a month in Arizona. So (if you don't mind) here are a few questions. ... Since it doesn't have obstacle avoidance, can I set the height in the Visual Track Mode? I will be riding alongside of the Mogollon Rim just north of Payson, AZ. If, say I have the altitude set at 200 feet above me (to avoid all the tall pines) and if flies over the cliff that has a 1500 foot drop - Will I loose the drone? The GPS will think it's 1700 feet above me and I would think it would drop to an altitude of 200 feet on the other side of the cliff! That's what concerns me the most. (I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance. 😁
Hello! You can adjust the altitude of a visual follow but 200' probably won't work as you'll be too small to keep a lock on. The altitude of the drone is base on launch location so if you are at 100' AGL and you go over a cliff it will still think you are at 100' and will not go down. Speed will be an issue if on a motorcycle, might get up to 30MPH or so. The best follow drone I've used is the skydio 2 + which has obstacle avoidance, visual follow and GPS follow, meaning if you lose visual it will use GPS to keep you in the center until it visually finds you again. It also has a beacon you can throw in your pocket instead of carrying a remote with you. Skydio doesn't make it anymore but I just put one on my gear focus page if interested... bit.ly/3NY4963 Hope this helps!
Hi, can the drone be used without phone? I.E. connect drone to Tx and fly LOS? Also i watched Potensic video on connecting,,, i am confused, do yo have to connect the Tx and then also connect your phone? Can anyone help my Atom arrives today. Thanks.
I don't believe this drone can be used without an app. The startup sequence is shown here: ua-cam.com/video/TPthga9ZgtE/v-deo.htmlsi=HqWaeDYCMvP5Sby7&t=158 . Load and start the app, connect phone to remote via the cable, then the remote connects to the drone via its own protocol. Don't worry, it will make more sense once you get the drone in front of you and read through instructions and test a few things out...
There's definitely a difference, but the decreased field of view increases the pixel density which increases the resolution so it seems like an upgrade overall. The smaller FOV seems to be more of a standard lately.
This was really impressive. Shoutout to them on this drone. My only concern is that the video quality may not be up to par verse DJI for real estate aerial videos. What do you think? I very well could be wrong but that was my concern. Overall though, this looks like a drone I would have considered for business purposes if it came out only a few months earlier.
I'm thinking that this would be just fine for real estate work as I can't think what would be lacking, except in some situations a higher resolution sensor that would allow cropping or better low light performance but I don't think that's really it's main purpose. For the price I think it over delivers on value, but if lower light or higher resolution pictures would be needed I think that the next model (upcoming) with a larger sensor would be a better choice, albeit at a higher price. At least here in the US I'd opt for a bigger drone for real estate that already has standard remote ID installed or you have to stick a module on this one which isn't ideal.
Hello, thanks! I color grade it all the time without big issues. The portion in the video where I show "manual camera mode" I tweaked everything up afterwards in Resolve. Depends how picky you are I suppose...
Tough to know what "tilted and moves a lot" is compared to what is normal, I'd just look at the video and if it is stable when the drone is moving around then it's doing what it needs to. Make sure you do a compass calibration in a noise free area and move the drone slightly by hand and if the video is jumping around, the gimbal might be damaged. Don't fly it first, check the video and contact Potensic if there's a stability issue. If you fly it they will assume you crashed it first...
There is no built in RID. For recreational flights in the US, no need for RID, but if you fly under part 107 then a module is needed. Potensic just released their own module ua-cam.com/video/2aOY0ff5_9o/v-deo.html , though you can use any of the FAA approved module out there...
Thanks! The GIM2 is a decent flyer, but these are in different categories. The ATOM has better video and camera overall IMO, but the GIM2 will do better in higher winds because of the weight. I found the controls a bit better on the ATOM, but it is newer technology so that stands to reason. If I had to choose one to take with me and fly and record, I would lean towards the ATOM myself.
Thank you! Makes sense… I watched both your videos and I understand what you are saying. In since of the over/under of the 249g, with the new law, would I need a RID with the ATOM even though it’s under the 249g? Thank You in advance sir! By the way, your videos are awesome!!!
@@Mayorjo Thanks for the kind words! Regarding RID on the ATOM, if you're flying recreationally only and you DON'T register it, then you do not need remote ID with the ATOM. If you're going to do any part 107 OR you decide to register for any reason then you need RID installed. I think the new GIM2 has RID built in (I think I saw this) and that would have to be registered/transmitting because of the weight regardless of recreational or not. If it is the older model without RID built in then it still needs to be registered and a RID Module would need to be added.
Good day, Great review! I want to buy this drone but I have a few questions: 1. What is the maximum speed of the drone? 2. What is the maximum range of the drone? 3. Do you suggest the fly more combo? Because of the extra batteries...
I saw 30 mph, I flew VLOS with no breakup, about 2300', the range is specified at about 3-3/4 miles in perfect conditions, I always recommend the fly-more type package, absolutely.
I LOVE DJI but good healthy competition like this is amazing to see. They’re really not far behind except for range and perhaps durability as that remains to be seen
Thanks guys for all your hard work. Going to spain from usa. Questions can I get drone through tsa airport check with no problems? Can I fly in spain with no problem? When I get back need to get certified? Amateur starting out all help appreciated.
Thanks! I've taken drones through US airports many times with no issues. I always carry them in my carry-on bag to keep an eye on them. In other countries you need to do some homework before you travel because countries and even cities may have specific regulations and may require a permit or certificate of some sort, but I don't have a good resource for this.
Still Have My DJI Spark Drone But This Clever Little Drone In 2023/ 2024 I Might Give As Xmas Present Because The Weight (Under 250 Grams) The Price Of Combo Kit + Reliability + The Features It Offers, Hence ( G/V/ Money.) Look Forward To See An Updated Model. Thanks.
Nice review. 👍I wanted to buy DJI 2SE mini, but now...after seeing this model and what it can do I'm not sure anymore.Especially the visual tracking that DJI 2 mini doesn't have it.Looks very well made. The only thing negative about this Atom drone is that beeping when returning home..Can it be disabled?I think DJI 2 mini had the same problem which they fixed in last version DJI 2 mini SE.
Thanks! Unfortunately all of them beep if doing an automatic return to home and most do not have the option of disabling the beep. Super annoying! BUT, you can always simply fly it home manually and it makes no noise... 🤙
I took my Atom out for its maiden flight the other day and love it. So easy to use. Have run into an issue with video editing software complaining about the 30 fps. It wants 25 fps. I'm in the UK which uses PAL. Recommendation for fps and video editing software? Thanks.
Best software I used to date for video is Divinci Resolve. They have a free version that actually includes a lot of functionality, the paid version is inexpensive and a one time fee, no recurring charges and free updates...
I thought this drone had the option to set the FPS to 25. This is what is should be set to in the UK. If you edit in 30fps the footage will appear jumpy if played back on a TV. If it doesn’t have the option DaVinci Resolve lets you set the Project FPS to 25 and then when you import 30FPS video it will convert it to 25.
Several drawbacks and I'd be happy to pay more is the very limited zoom and no obstacle avoidance. You know they have to be working on a pro model. It's so close, go Potensic!
With the DJI ban fear going around this drone might be my next go to drone. I like all the extra features on this one that I wish DJI had on their mini series. Great review man. Thanks.
Well I'm looking at reviews on getting a new drone as I had a DJI Mini 2 when it first released and when I stopped making UA-cam videos I sold it. Now that I'm switching to off-road UA-cam videos, the active track follow mode is a huge selling point for me. Thank you for the review this drone seems really good 👍. I was still a little skeptical as DJI has always been the superior drone for a while
Thanks for this video. I was just about to pull the trigger on this drone (my first) but I cannot find parts for it. Is there a place to purchase for parts like legs and motors?
Might want to consider their repair service: store.potensic.com/pages/atom-se-repair-service-request . Maybe they will sell some individual parts as well, not sure.
Thank you for the great review of the Potensic ATOM 3Axis Gimbal Drone. This video is not only fun to watch, but also very informative. Can you please let me know what type of documentation is required to fly this drone... and if there are any specific laws to be adhered to! Where can one find such information?
Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! As far as documentation for this drone (assuming recreational flight) you will need 1) to pass the FAA TRUST test (easy and free) and have proof of passing with you, 2) your ID, 3) CBO Guidelines you are following (Rule #2, you don't need this printout but it is recommended), 4) If you are flying in any controlled airspace you need to have your authorization (electronic is acceptable)... That's all... Good Flying!
Good review. I'm new to drones, having only had a real cheapo one. Looking to upgrade to something more functional (better camera). Really liking this one.
Thanks! Fair question, yes it would matter. It prevents the gimbal cover from being removed as it covers the body of the drone and the gimbal cover release latch when in place. I suppose they wanted something that was highly visible to show how to remove the cover and to remind the user that the cover needs to be removed before powering on.
@@AlienDrones ooh .. Yes I saw it did a fantastic job ... a lot of features to play with and lot of controls to them too 😉..I am totally impressed by the gimbal and how it stabilizes the image while maneuvering... Great job indeed 👍👍
A great drone for sure. And you didn’t even get to waypoints which for me makes this a mini 2SE killer. Video quality and the smaller sensor is the only real downside to me. But price to features ratio pretty much counters that. It’s all about compromise when you simply don’t want to pay DJI prices.
Newbie here .. do you know if they support or will ever support a smart controller the one like DJI has with the screen if so where and what kind thanks!!!!!!!!
Since this is a targeting a lower price market, very unlikely this will happen anytime soon. Once they release the newer pro models, maybe then, but far into the future if at all...
I'm not sure if they are different but I thought the ATOM was much quieter than other models I flew recently. I flew on a beach multiple time last week and a hundred feet up no one heard it (though the ocean does add white noise, for sure)
They rolled by slow giving me a side look, but then stopped about 75 feet away and stayed there for the entire flight. When I left I saw them leaving in my rear-view... Maybe next time!
I don't have much info on the LT or where it fits in their marketing plan but the 3-axis ATOM is simply a much better product overall compared to the SE and I imagine the LT is in the same category... It has it's place but not on the same level as the ATOM 3-axis.
@@AlienDrones Well, I got the LT, and hate it. The drone does not keep satellite signal well at all. And I've only been about to get about 1500 feet distance out of it. I don't recommend it at all.
@@scottwilkins I get that, the SE wasn't my favorite model either, I think this was Potensic's "test" platform to develop the ATOM from and while just ok for a cheap drone it's hard to enjoy knowing how much better the 3-axis is.
I'm getting my drone, the Atom soon. What are the camera settings you are using for the manual mode cause I've seen a lot of people talk about using manual mode instead of automatic.
It depends on your lighting and what you're looking to do, but getting the shutter speed down to 1/60th or maybe 1/120 and the ISO at 100, and you'll probably have to drop the exposure compensation down a bit to get in the correct exposure, and manually set the White balance to your conditions to get the color tweaked in. It is made tougher because there are no NDs that will fit this drone, which is disappointing but the way they designed the gimbal prevents gimbal initialization with a filter on, I've tried. But at least controlling the exposure and WB and such keeps things from changing all the time when flying and it does make it look cleaner... Hope this helps!
Hello, the charge time was about 1 hr 20 minutes for 1 battery (from about 25%). This charger also charges faster with more wattage as these are smart batteries and I believe it can take up to 60W input power though you can charge with less if you have it. Hope this helps! 🤙
Great video, but isn't a huge downside of this drone how it doesn't allow setting for speed of acceleration of drone movement? So if you want really smooth gradual changed in what the camera is pointing at which is so essential for cinematic footage? Does this drone have this or do you think there's any prospect it might be added in a firmware update?
Thank you! I wouldn't say a _huge_ downside, it's really not too bad. It can be placed in "video" mode which slows the gains down quite a bit for the movements, and the controls are nicely proportional meaning if you slightly move the stick it moves slow and smooth. The gimbal pitch does have a separate adjustable gain so it can move very slow and cinematic. I think if you get familiar with the controls you could do a pretty decent job with the moves, but it would be skill related then. That being said I would always like to have individual adjustments for the gains so it can be customized for my fat fingers, and maybe they will add it, but I think there is an ATOM "Pro" model on the horizon and it will have all of this and this ATOM will be it's lower cost and slightly less functional cousin... 😎
This one has a lot of feature additions, more stable and a full 3 axis gimbal for the camera, the SE has an EIS gimbal for the camera (so no where near as stable video). If you didn't see the review on the SE model it is here: ua-cam.com/video/TPthga9ZgtE/v-deo.html
Yes, just click the zoom button and you can scroll through or snap zoom levels. This was not included in the drone when this video was released but they did a firmware update to ad it. There is a video here: ua-cam.com/video/Z_gKugV938k/v-deo.html
Superb review, thank you! Can you please give your updated thoughts on how suitable this drone is for boat launching and recovery? We primarily need the drone for filming our sailboat. Can the return to home be disabled or modified from the original launch point GPS coordinates? (E.g. RTH to the controller?) Of course, without this, if the boat has moved the drone would go swimming with a RTH... If the answer to the above is that you can't modify the RTH location, is this common with other drones in this price range, or is there a better alternative (DJI 2SE or Mini 4, for example?) Apologies for the interrogation(!) but your opinions are greatly appreciated! Fair winds! Chris, Rossella & Emma 👍
If you put a strobe on, you'll likely need a Remote ID module as well, at least in the US. If you put them on the top, dead center and slightly back, this is over the battery internally so it shouldn't have any issues with any sensors and there's plenty of room. Have to be conscious that the added weight may affect battery life a bit...
Are the batteries on the Atom and the atoms SE interchangeable? I know one is Lion and the other is Li-po. Putting the SE batteries in the Atom would probably put it over the 240g, but could it theoretically be done?
Yes, the batteries are compatible but will put it over 250g, so you'd technically need to register and have a RID module installed to use the SE batteries.
You have to transfer the footage from the SD card. The high resolution footage is only saved on the drone itself as it would be too much data for the wireless bitrate to send to a device real time. Perhaps you can insert the SD card directly to you phone, or another way would be to get a card reader that would plug into your phone then insert the SD card into that, then transfer it to your phone.
Just picked up the new Atom drone, it took long enough to arrive from Potensic supposedly because they didn't have enough of them in stock to fill orders initially. I already have the SE and like it a lot. Was wondering if I could just use the same Potensic Pro software already loaded on my phone for the SE for my new Atom or do I need to upload a new fly program separately?
Wish I could., there is none available. I did try and make one myself and it is very difficult as the way the gimbal initializes there is barely any clearance to the front of the lens. I asked Potensic and they have no plans to do anything on this model, which is a shame.
@@AlienDrones That's unfortunate. I discovered your channel a few months ago when I was researching a drone for my husband. Your videos sold me on the potensic, thank you!
@@AlienDrones no, I was on the bus at the time! I have a Zino Mini SE... similar drone. It can take 5 mins to get enough sats. This drone interests me if it can do it fast. Also, I know it has quick shots but has it master shots?
Bought this about a week ago after tons of research on drones, i feel this is a great buy. Im curious do you use the gimbal protector at all? and if so is it meant to be used when filming or just flying? I feel like it would distort the camera.
Hello! A good value and a good flyer for sure! Absolutely use the gimbal protector during transport but absolutely do not use it when the drone is powered. It will cause the gimbal to not operate properly and will cause damage to the gimbal mechanism. Always remove the gimbal cover BEFORE you power the drone up! Good Flying!
Fantastic review...and drone! Another great thing is that unlike the DJI Mini drones, there is no "big-brother" geofencing to deal with that can very quickly lock down your drone.
You really do the best drone reviews, it's nice to see you enjoy your work.
Thanks! I do enjoy what I do for sure, glad it shows! 🤙
That's the main reason I bought one and sold my Mini2se!
Very useful in put. I bought this and the Specta mini
Great video, thanks. Just a quick note. I received my Atom today and they’ve fixed the glue issue on the gimbal cover. It only had a very small sticker that did not leave any residue. I guess they’re listening and fixing stuff 👍

Appreciate that, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for taking the time to share, appreciate it! It is a great little flyer, should treat you well!
Is it just following the GPS in the controller in your hand?? Thumbs up and subbed. Will it follow a designated subject??
That looks like a really good drone. It's good the DJI will have some serious competition in the small camera drone market. The real plus for many is that it doesn't appear to have onboard RID like most of the DJI sub-250 drones. I think the Mini 2SE is the only one without RID in the DJI line-up.
I've been looking and comparing the different drones and this is by far the best drone for the$!!! Sooooooo glad I waited to get this one looks like it's a winner for sure thanks for the video been waiting to confirm that it's really as good as it says THANKS!!!!!

was there a difference?
This is now on my want list. I have the original Atom so am really glad to see this uses the same batteries, hub etc. Priced right too.
Indeed, Potensic did good on this one. Keep in mind that even though the SE batteries do fit and work in the ATOM, they are heavier and push the overall weight >249g which is a bit disappointing but I get that the weight for the gimbal had to come from somewhere I suppose. Thank you very much, that's very kind! 😎
Thanks for sharing. I heard they copied fimi's remote design. Their remotes are very similar in design.

Thanks for sharing! It doesn't have an adjustable aperture though, that is the exposure compensation... 🤙🤙
I have the Atom SE but this drone looks really good with the upgrades Potensic have done, especially that 3 gimbal axis. Will be buying this asap! Great review too btw :)
Thanks! It is a great upgrade from Potensic for sure!
I had the DJI Mini 4k in my Amazon shopping card but kicked it out and bought this one based on reviews - especially your review. Well done, thanks!
My pleasure! It's a good flier, enjoy! 🤙🤙
Should've got the DJI, they're way better as far as stability and legality.
The video is amazing quality on the drone thanks for reviewing it I think this is the drone I'm choosing
Thanks! It is a really decent drone and should treat you well.
Thanks for the kind words! We'll see what we can do! 🤙🤙
The review i needed! I am ordering one! Keep up the good work! 😁 Thank you!
Thank you, glad it was useful! It's a good little flyer for sure! 🤙🤙
@@AlienDrones thanks for your valuable feedback 👍
With Autel done with the Nano and Lite consumer level drones, it's nice to see another option without geofencing. The video looks pretty good. Some minor adjustments in post wouldn't hurt.
Thanks for sharing! Indeed, I didn't adjust much so we know what it produces straight from the camera...
I just ordered one today. Hopefully flying it tomorrow...thanks for the review
My pleasure, glad it was helpful!
I run into that hill issue all the time as I live in the midst of a couple of mountains, end up being skipping off the tree tops about 75' up and the remote still shows 394' 👍🌴
A very well made demonstration.
Thank you 🏆

Great video; thanks for it. Just bought this; first flight today. It's about as close to perfect for a hobby drone as you can get.
Thanks for sharing, indeed it's a decent little flier for sure!
At 5:21 What was on the pond? Pair of beaver? One went under and headed direction of drone underwater.
Indeed, there's both beaver and ducks...
Thank you so much. @@AlienDrones

Great review! Very well done!
Thank you kindly!
Quite a difference in FOV between the SE and ATOM. I enjoyed the 118° in the SE, especially for altitude shots. Will I notice a huge difference?
There's definitely a difference, but the decreased field of view increases the pixel density which increases the resolution so it seems like an upgrade overall. The smaller FOV seems to be more of a standard lately.
Thanks for sharing. I am ordering it and hope to test it soon!
Thanks! It's a good flyer, have fun!
Sold! Thank you for the awesome review.

I have no complaints with mine .. great drone
Great video! Can you confirm whether we can do basic color grading with the drone footage, or do we start getting artefacts during export?
Hello, thanks! I color grade it all the time without big issues. The portion in the video where I show "manual camera mode" I tweaked everything up afterwards in Resolve. Depends how picky you are I suppose...
Great review! Good discussion, great demonstration of features.
Thanks! 🤙🤙

Hi i just bought the potensic atom, i havent tested it, i just noticed the camera is tilted and moves a lot. Is that normal
Great review... Great drone.....and no "gimbal stuck" messages.... Keep on flying....Alan.
Nice!
Very nice drone !!!
first time ear about this drone. My question is dos this little drone have a remote id module in the drone or we need to gat the rid for it
There is no built in RID. For recreational flights in the US, no need for RID, but if you fly under part 107 then a module is needed. Potensic just released their own module ua-cam.com/video/2aOY0ff5_9o/v-deo.html , though you can use any of the FAA approved module out there...
Hello, great content… quick question, how would you compare this drone to the Ruko F11GIM2? Thank you
Great, thank you very much for all the info! Looking forward to more great videos!
Good day,
Great review!
I want to buy this drone but I have a few questions:
@@AlienDrones Alright, thank you very much! I might buy this drone. It looks better than the dji mini 2 se to me

It is said that they will update the software to solve the problem later
I just purchased and love it, the sticker for the gimbal left no glue either 👍🏽
Nice! Let's say Potensic watched our video and had the engineers spec the right adhesive... 💦 😎
@@BDX55 Indeed, the drone does have 25 and 24 FPS options...
Great video. You earned a new subscriber 💯
Awesome, thank you!
Several drawbacks and I'd be happy to pay more is the very limited zoom and no obstacle avoidance. You know they have
to be working on a pro model. It's so close,
go Potensic!

I was still a little skeptical as DJI has always been the superior drone for a while
Thanks for sharing!
Great review.. Do you think the video was as good as the se? To me it looked worse..
Thanks! Atom SE? No, this one is better... Still needs good light but a decent camera for the price.
@@AlienDrones - Thanks a ton for your prompt response with details. I hope this will help many other drone amateurs/enthusiasts like me!
Good review. I'm new to drones, having only had a real cheapo one. Looking to upgrade to something more functional (better camera). Really liking this one.
Thanks! Its a good flyer... 🤙
Great review. Just wondering. If the sticker on the gimble cover was left on, would it matter?
Thanks! Fair question, yes it would matter. It prevents the gimbal cover from being removed as it covers the body of the drone and the gimbal cover release latch when in place. I suppose they wanted something that was highly visible to show how to remove the cover and to remind the user that the cover needs to be removed before powering on.
I was waiting for this video... 👍😉
Indeed, it was stuck in customs for 2 weeks, thought it was lost! Worth the wait, Potensic did good... 🤙
Once they release the newer pro models, maybe then, but far into the future if at all...
awsome video sir.
Thanks! 🤙
Are the propellers any different? The ones on the SE were a tad loud for my liking.
I'm not sure if they are different but I thought the ATOM was much quieter than other models I flew recently. I flew on a beach multiple time last week and a hundred feet up no one heard it (though the ocean does add white noise, for sure)
I have the Se model and enjoy it. I will upgrade to this one in the future.
The SE is a good value and a good flyer for sure!
So nothing happened with the po-po?
They rolled by slow giving me a side look, but then stopped about 75 feet away and stayed there for the entire flight. When I left I saw them leaving in my rear-view... Maybe next time!
@@jackhideous6669 I have no problem bashing them. What are they doing about out-of-control shoplifting, theft, assaults? Absolutely nothing.
How about compared to the Atom LT? Seems like an SE with longer battery life...
@AlienDrones, which would you recommend. This drone, or the F11Gim2?
The ATOM without a doubt. 👍
Hi, what was the charging time of the batteries with the fly more kit charger?
Is it better than dji mini 2/4k? What do you prefer? Thanks!
It depends on what you're needs are, but I just finished a comparison video on that, should be publishing next week!
Hola, en que se diferencia el modelo atom se y el modelo atom 3 axis
This one has a lot of feature additions, more stable and a full 3 axis gimbal for the camera, the SE has an EIS gimbal for the camera (so no where near as stable video). If you didn't see the review on the SE model it is here: ua-cam.com/video/TPthga9ZgtE/v-deo.html
@@AlienDrones ok, thank you very much for taking your time to answer my question. now I understand. Greetings from Santo Domingo Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
Can you zoom in on objects while in flight?
If the answer to the above is that you can't modify the RTH location, is this common with other drones in this price range, or is there a better alternative (DJI 2SE or Mini 4, for example?)
Apologies for the interrogation(!) but your opinions are greatly appreciated!
Fair winds!
Chris, Rossella & Emma 👍
Where would you place anti-collision strobe on the Atom for night flight to not interfere with sensors?
If you put a strobe on, you'll likely need a Remote ID module as well, at least in the US. If you put them on the top, dead center and slightly back, this is over the battery internally so it shouldn't have any issues with any sensors and there's plenty of room. Have to be conscious that the added weight may affect battery life a bit...
Drone with battery 239 grams. Vifly strobe 6.7 grams. Total weight 245.7 grams. Still under 249g.
Are the distances for the programmed flights ( follow, circle…) customizable?
Yes, completely. You set the distance to whatever you like within the usable range and it will start from there.
What is the length of the fully extended remote control? I'd like to know if my tablet will fit.
About 6-3/4" fully extended. Probably need an additional tablet mount to get much bigger
@@AlienDrones Thank you for responding so quickly.
@@haywoodjablome44 No worries, Happy Holidays!
Any idea how fast it can follow you? I want it to follow me in my boat, which can go up to 20 kph/12 mph.

What’s the lowest altitude can it be to use the visual tracking?
Are the batteries on the Atom and the atoms SE interchangeable? I know one is Lion and the other is Li-po. Putting the SE batteries in the Atom would probably put it over the 240g, but could it theoretically be done?
Yes, the batteries are compatible but will put it over 250g, so you'd technically need to register and have a RID module installed to use the SE batteries.
Insane set up
How do you get the high res video from the drone without pc software? To edit this only downloads low res copies to mobile device.
Ok thank you, so this doesn’t have DJI capabilities that allow a person to edit high res video right on the phone?
@@AlienDronesdoes the fimi x8 v2 work like this with the high res video?

Just picked up the new Atom drone, it took long enough to arrive from Potensic supposedly because they didn't have enough of them in stock to fill orders initially. I already have the SE and like it a lot. Was wondering if I could just use the same Potensic Pro software already loaded on my phone for the SE for my new Atom or do I need to upload a new fly program separately?

Hi. Could you recommend a good ND filter set that's compatible with the potensic 3 axis gimbal drone??

Bought this about a week ago after tons of research on drones, i feel this is a great buy. Im curious do you use the gimbal protector at all? and if so is it meant to be used when filming or just flying? I feel like it would distort the camera.
