What about the wizard? It starts off with a harmonica. Black Sabbath starts out with rain and a church bell with thunder in the back ground. Then Sweet leaf starts out with Ozzy coughing out a bong hit "ah right now!"

Omair Sheikh I agree. Some metal bassists kill it with amazing bass lines but you can never hear them. My all time favourite bass tone is the dude from Rage Against The Machine, they're like metal/rap.
thebaconflapsable Yeah Cummerford has some pretty filthy bass tones, but very few bassists can compete with the top prog rock bassists like Chris Squire, Wetton, Greg Lake, etc. Some monster tones as well as technique. Other bass beasts are Dave LaRue and Andy West, both of the Dixie Dregs.

This song was NEVER anti God like many may have thought. In fact, as Geezer said, its about the fact that God is very much alive. Those that listen to the lyrics carefully catch onto this quickly. War Pigs is another ...not Satanic at all, but opposite. Its talking about how the Devil LOVES war basically. Ozzy is sneaky brilliant on his messaging.
I don't see why this is attracting so much attention from religious people - this video literally said, the song's about someone who DOESN'T believe that God is dead and is trying to show otherwise. The song ITSELF, for crying out loud, says "I don't believe that God is dead." Twice!
But then again, it hasn't historically been very hard to attract such people on UA-cam.
And for the record, I am a religious person - I just bother to listen to the lyrics of songs.

It's called jumping to conclusions based on wrong presuppositions. Titles and lyrics have to be seen in context and may be written from a third person perspective and not representative of the viewpoint of the artist. Sabbath have taken a lot of unwarranted flak from religious protagonists. I'm a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ who's a big metal fan and has long appreciated and enjoyed Sabbath (40 years). What has been said about Sabbath comes very near to bearing false witness which The Almighty don't take very lightly.
Similar to the title of the Ozzy song 'Thank God For The Bomb'...taken out of context it can sound provocative.
It's sad how people ignore the lyrics and the context, and are so comfortable in their ignorance.

as a practicing Catholic. I really admire how honest this question is brought about. if you are humble to yourself enough, you'll realise it's OK to question. it's very natural. I still question, but doesn't mean I'm going to push myself down for it. I hold firm on what I believe in, but its OK to question God with anything, if its sincere.

Tony Iommi is such a legend!! I have seen black sabbath in 2016, I didn't grow up with them and have only known "iron man", "war pigs" and "paranoid", but damn this man has such a huge presence on stage. He stood there playing his guitar and you instantly knew that this guy is a master guitar player. There are a lot of talented and great players, but his performance was so special, as if he stood in a shiny light of epicness, I will never forget this performance, since then I'm a big fan of BS

Considering every sludge / stoner / doom band on the planet worship him, I think he has the ratings he deserves.
I've been playing bass guitar for over 30 years and I can attest to the fact that Geezer is a bass master.
His playing is always tasteful, inspiring, and just plain killer!
i first used the measure faith God gives every man when i was at the end of my rope in 1980. The lord answered my prayer & Saved me in that one short prayer e.g.. "all who call upon the name of the Lord will be Saved" i was & still am, after i walked with the Lord of a while i learned i could TRUST the Bible & Jesus... it's all good friend ! Honest... :-)

Even if he didn't say that, "god is dead" is just a famous quote from the philospher Frederick Nietzsche. It never was meant to be taken literally in the first place - it's more or less a metaphor for modern society having lost the need for traditional morality

This is Black Sabbath, the one I grew up with from the first album. I'm lovin' that they went back to their roots and worked with Rick Rueben on this album.
Iommi is looking a little more vital here again and that's encouraging. That quiet charisma shines through regardless of his battle.

It's typical of people to assume the title of the song is exactly what he means. He doesn't say emphatically "God IS Dead." It's "God is dead?" as in....you really think God is dead??? He doesn't believe that he is dead. It's a statement.
