To add stem separation to pads click on the pad text next to midi. Then go to User 1 Choose the pad you want to add track seperation to and then click on the arrows in that field. From the menu choose Transport > Track Speration > then the part you want.

this is actually the easiest and super fast way of mapping click PAD > (ASSIGN 1) click on the sampler > click on the down scroll arrow > click USER 1 > go to the first pad tab click on the down scroll arrow > TRANSPORT > TRACK SEPARATION > then click the part u want (vocals, instr, drums)
When I press 'learn' and look for old buttons to replace I don't get the error message. I can't seem to get any further with this. I'm on a XDJ Rx3. Anyone know how to get past this?? 👍
I think the reason for Pioneer not to call it STEMS, seems that it is not meant to used like a "real" STEM: played as solo tracks. It seems more like a great transition/mixing tool. Hence the 3 parts are Drums, Vocal and Instrument. One of biggest benefit for me is when it is coming go the FX send/bypass. E.g. just add some live feeling/room to the vocals (or reduce them for the crowd to sing-a-long), without hurting the beat/rhythm section or blurry up the melodic/instrumental flow.
I agree - these work great when combined with FX or simply as mute buttons. As it stands, the quality is not there to use them as solo tracks - this may change with further updates

Hey! I have the DDJ FLX 4 with a rekordbox license key. The pad editor is off, do you know how I can set it on? Another question: I have tried it with midi, I use everything at my deck, there aren't many options to delete, for example I don't have the slip reverse or vinyl to replace it with, is there any another option to use the stems?
The flx 4 doesn’t support the pad editor unfortunately. For MIDI mode you need to sacrifice something to map - most people use one of the pads in a mode they don’t use often
That’s kind of crazy that you need to first manually delete the MIDI control of the button. On video game consoles and in OBS for years, you could find the action you want and press whatever button to assign to the action. A pop-up would say “this button is already assigned to so-and-so, do you want to replace it?“ And then you click, yes. I would never have to go to the original assigned button and delete the action from it first. But at least Pioneer makes it possible for all controllers, and thank you for showing how it’s done!
I've tried it but my laptop is not powerful enought to handle it 😡 the sound has coming up fully distorted. It's all about my 8gb ram and intel core i5 processor is old generation plus i dont have a ssd hard drive

Hi, yes you can absolutely do this. I showed adding the functions in the video but didn’t do the mapping itself. The process is the same you just need to decide what knobs you want to remap :)

I turned off the drums and instrumentals on one song and then isolated a short vocal part (4 beats). I then cut this part out with blue scissors and dragged it onto a sampler slot. If I play this sample now, it will be played with drums and instrumentals. What am I doing wrong? Where is the error???

It should be in theory - but this will only work if you are using in HID mode with rekordbox. Aka it will need to be plugged into the laptop. Good luck!
Okay but what is part isolation? Every video someone posts, "if you want part isolation go into this tab but I'm not gonna get into it" but they cant even explain for a few seconds what it is. WHAT IS PART ISOLATION?
It's worth letting people know that you need a pretty "beefy" laptop to get the most out of RBTS and Serato Stems. I'd suggest a *minimum* i7 or equivalent, with *minimum* of 16gb RAM 😃
Unfortunately unless you want to get rid of the current EQs function you can't. Two hacks: 1. Map something to enable the part isolation mode and then use the in-software mixer panel to do it with your mouse. 2. If you never use decks 3/4 then you can remap their EQs. You can use Deck 3 channel to control the part isolation for 1 and Deck 4 to control the part isolation for deck 2. There's not a lot of redundant rotary/slider controls even on a ddj-1000 to find homes for all the functionality. Personally I think this is more hassle than the benefit you get from the feature, but let me know what you end up doing!
Streamdeck doesn't send midi signals by default. The workaround would be to assign a keyboard shortcut in RB for the stems and then get the streamdeck to do that hotkey
I haven't looked at your file / mapping, I have an 800. I'm wondering how I can map the EQ knobs to the ISO function. I have a button already mapped that will turn on the ISO mode, but the EQ knobs, even after the ISO mode is on, still control the EQ. I can adjust the stem volume levels from within the software using my mouse, but not using the EQ knobs on the controller. I added the ISO functions to the mixer, but when I try to map them, it tells me that the knob is mapped to the EQ function. Any ideas?
I may be wrong but I’m not sure the mapping has the concept of a ‘mode’. So it wouldn’t know if a previous button had been pressed and then to do something different. It’s basically ‘press this and do this’ not ‘if this was pressed before then press this and this button now does this instead ’. Basically i think you just have to use buttons you don’t need for anything else unfortunately

I really want to use something like Keyshift - which I never use. Why cant I use the pads in the Keyshift mode and assign those 8-pads on my DDJ1000 to the stems functions? It seems really weird to have to map random functions, when I have 8x unused pads in a function that I want to use.

I suspect it's a bug because it doesn't work even using the GUI toggle in the mixer panel. Hopefully you or someone figures it out.

Listening on their own it’s not the best but it actually sounds ok (on some tracks) when you have other things going on in the mix as well

I dont use stems. Its overated and taxing on your laptop. Best stem hands down is Virtual Dj stems. Its truly amazing . But i find it a niche gimmicj

You could do it if you hooked them up to your laptop in HID mode, but standalone looks unlikely for now!

Is your controller a hardware unlock device? It will definitely need to be plugged in to do the MIDI mapping

Why not map the stems on the pads?
You can do this on many controllers - on the 1000 i was using it has to be done via pad mode instead of midi mapping

Few seconds whilst rb analyses the stems but otherwise fine. You can always just turn the feature off if it causes any issues 👍🏼
