I use all four major brands of DJ software Rekordbox DJ, Virtual DJ, Serato, and Traktor. I work for a company doing A/V, Event Production, and I DJ independently. I never wanted to be stuck with an unfamiliar piece of gear in front of me or without a solution to use that gear. I also own gear that works with all of those. I'm a problem solver and troubleshooter. When I hang up my DJ hat I can still use my knowledge to help others.
Yes. That became my backup when Pioneer did an update that stopped it working with my Pioneer controller, and their support was a joke. I actually really liked VDJ, there's some fab skins.
VDJ is great to use but very noisy. I've been using it for years and before stems it worked perfectly. After Stems I had to upgrade to a gamer style computer with an rtx graphics card and fully purchased the software. Then the noises started. I have rebooted clean and still get crackling and pops. I have reached out to them and they send me a list of things to change and tweak. I still get noises. Does any other software have this issue?
@@luketerare6322 Not sure. It sounds like a latency issue, or perhaps you're using the wrong driver. I haven't had this problem with VDJ, but I have had it with some DAW's and it is usually corrected by adjusting a buffer setting. Otherwise, make sure you have the right driver for your controller. I once had sound issues with a borrowed controller at a gig and was surprised to find that even though I had the correct controller map selected I using a set of audio drivers for my regular controller.
Nobody swears by Rekordbox . Everyone hates it. They just dont have a choice . Think about it this way . The CDJ and DJM is standard. So if you a touring DJ and Festival dj . You are most likely to get those decks and to play on those decks with eaze , you have to use rekordbox. Pioneer purposefully bottle necks any use of any software with there hardware , even serato runs terribly compared to rekordbox dj on CDJ . Every dj that i know , hates Rekorbox and Rekordbox DJ .
Started out on Vinyl when i was 15 then got a pair of CDJ’s when i was 18 and never thought Rekordbox was worth the time, just stick it on a usb and set your cues yourself you’ll also get to know your tune’s a lot better and thats 90% of being a DJ
I have zero issues with it. I love working in it just the free version. It's hooked up to a decent desktop. I'm a controller dj DJ though. So I can't comment on the status of using it with pro gear.,but the DJs I see using it don't seem to have any issues with it. I just cannot trust it to accurately identify the key especially with isovox so I use paid software that works more accurately for that
I justed started my journey with rekordbox in 2021 with the DDJ-400 like the classic beginner setup. Before I got my first controller I wanted to get Serato, but everyone said to me "buy a pioneer controller they are the standard" so I bought a Pioneer Controller and the cheap ones come with rekordbox. First it wasn't that intuitiv but I worked my self into rekordbox and now I don't want to change anymore because I like the many features and clean look that rekordbox has
VirtualDJ has the best stems in the world. Fully customizable ah it works very smooth on every device I've tried. It's simply the best. Fx quality is the only negative thing i can say, compared to the others
Thinking I might make the switch tbh. Don't like all these subscription models. Plus I got a board With inserts and send/return so can use external effects! Even a couple cheap guitar pedals are sm better than on board effects
Former Traktor user here. This description of "forcing DJs into the Rekrodbox ecosystem" exactly matches my experience! Initially I was a Traktor user and I had my entire collection analyzed there. My first home gear was the Pioneer DDJ-T1 controller (I wanted something that has 4 channels and has a very close layout to real CDJs). It was all good for a few years but things changed when I started getting more and more gigs - organizers and club owners always use Pioneer CDJs. I ended up in a situation where I had to install Rekordbox on my PC and before gigs I would go through the painful process of importing new tracks to the Rekordbox library. This resulted in a double work - re-analyzing and adjusting tracks that I've already analyzed in Traktor. So in 2020 I finally gave up and made the decision to switch to the Rekordbox ecosystem. I sold my Pioneer DDJ-T1 (probably the last Pioneer controller to support Traktor) and bought a DDJ-RX (again following my original requirements), which I replaced with a DDJ-1000 2 years later. So my home setup is very close to a club setup of Pioneer CDJs and a mixer, AND Rekordbox library. Before a gig I just open Rekordbox and export whatever I need to my USB stick and call it a day. A friend of mine once said that Pioneer are Apple for DJs 😂
I have used most DJ software. Djay pro is my current favourite due to the versatility and options. Also that you get the desktop, phone and ipad /tablet versions thrown in with an inexpensive subscription. On top of that the apple Music subscription is a big attraction for many. Seeing a lot of people online saying they are trying it or switching especially from Serato. Especially with the latest Djay hardware compatibility updates to support more equipment. Engine I use on my controller too. It's great as a stand alone unit. Denon really need to up their game on this though but free updates is a huge bonus. I used Traktor for a number of years and still have a lot of their units. Was happy to finally see Traktor 4 released though it's still behind in many ways. For a few years after Traktor I used Serato but felt a bit limited by it and couldn't really get comfortable with it. In many ways felt like a backwards step from Traktor.
I normally use VirtualDJ, not a pro, but I have some good amount of events done, and let me tell you... The amount of times it saved my life, when it comes to equipment malfunction and lack of, the fact you can (mostly) just plug and play without any worries is amazing! Not only that, but like you said, the versatility is great when you do many different events of many different styles, it just works. I'm a proud VirtualDJ user, never had any problems with it, so I definitely recommend it if you do weddings, clubs, private parties and stuff like that! (Not to mention that's user friendly for beginners and very customizable for pros!)
Started with a DDJ-400 2021 & recently snagged a FLX10 this March. I’m an open-format Club/Private event DJ so I’ve cemented my skills in those type of environments. The majority of my peers have been in the game for over a decade & are Serato users. I’ve personally played on both Serato & RB & the million dollar reason why I stay with RB, is the track preview function. I don’t need to load & cue up a song onto a deck to preview it. I can do that from the library itself. I would definitely consider switching to Serato JUST for that very reason, it just optimizes my workflow. They’re both just tools to get the job done to me & most, if not all listeners in the audience don’t give af what software you use aslong as you’re good 😂
as a 9 yrs traktor & 2 yrs Serato user, i can say that my last 3 yrs with rekordbox were great. Its so practical, I m using it in performance mode or Export mode with My XDJ or with CDJs, making usb Sticks, and controling my Small Lights Setup. Had 1 or 2 crashes in those 3 yrs, so for me, its perfect for what i m doing. PS. I m not using any Stems features, just Raw music and some talent. Cheers
Can I use a pioneer mixer with rekordbox software? I recently bought a reloop flux to play my vinyls with serato pro, but when installed it into my system just distortion came out of my speakers. I am a dj that just plays for my wife and family. But needs help with this issue.
I started with Traktor with the S4mk1 like 11 years ago from my bedroom. Then, I moved to Serato after upgrading to the DDJ-SX. For the last 4, I have mostly been Rekordbox because I do gigs here and there using cdjs and I recently bought a DDJ FLX10. Its a hobby for me and I don’t scratch, so having all my playlists, analyzed tracks, cue points, etc in one platform is super convenient for me.
Come on over to the Algoriddim darkside!!! Stems are great, intelligent beat gridding, damn near monthly updates.... Best DJ software by a mile in my opinion
Right there with you Trev. I was a huge fan of Rekordbox. It was my "go to" DJ app until STEMS became available. Now, I find myself using Serato more (out of frustration) because STEMS in Rekordbox, sounds so bad.
I just chose a Denon Prime 4+ to replace my old Vestax VCI400. no need to buy a laptop meant I could do gigs when needed and not outlay for a laptop that was good enough on top of the price of Pioneer Or whatever dumb name they want to be known as now. Stems will be worked out soon on Engine DJ I bet. I tried the beta, its not bad, but I wouldn't rely on it for a paying gig yet. And since I make my own music, making stems is easy in Serato or even Ableton.
Mixxx for the win! It will never be able to compete with these industry giants because it will always be years behind feature wise. But as most DJ never will become pro it is a good choice for every beginner and intermediate level DJ. You can do solid and advanced mixing. It is the only program where you can actually contribute yourself. Controller not supported in Recordbox? Tough luck! In mixxx you can colaborate with others to make it work!
I use Serato DJ Pro with my Numark controller and use Rekordbox to prep USB’s for studio/club sets as Pioneer decks are the standard. I love djay on the iPad really easy to use and run with a speaker as a compact set up.
2 Traktor Kontrol D2 'S and you cue sync & play the track you want on technics & on any cdj on the go, stems fx's & loops are no problem , no laptop viewing , because you have the waveform in your face , been a vinyl dj / cdj 1000 dj , bought an S8 Traktor mixer and never looked back @ pioneer , now 8 years later got the D2's , I got everything of all worlds old skool / modern features & I love it
I believe one of the reasons is because many beginner DJs aspire to one day play at clubs and bars, and know that Pioneer is ubiquitous in that space. It’s a comfort knowing that if you start your DJ journey using software that dominates the club scene, if you ever want to make that transition (no pun) it’s likely to be much easier if you’ve used Rekordbox from the start. Personally, I moved away from RB for several reasons, which include: -Stability issues. -Regular freezes, won’t load tracks -inability to recover from internet drops without spazzing out. -Long start up times -Failure in portable scenarios (I can’t get RB to work properly between my DDJ-FLX4 and iPad for example). -Inadequate STEMs. For these reasons, I moved to Serato DJ Pro and while it’s not perfect either (an extra $10/month for key shift… seriously?), I don’t have any of the stability issues I have with RB and the STEMs are way ahead.
My true store about my first encounter with Rekordbox.. The BPM show in the UK 2016. Went to look at it on the pioneer stand. It was running on a pc and it crashed to bluescreen within 30 seconds of me getting my hands on it. The guys on the booth were not impressed neither was I. It's come along way and with pioneermarket dominance at 72% it's hardly surprising. People buy it for 'it standard' tag. I choose to move away from standard as I prefer more creative options. Always wanting to see the industry move forward.
I first started with Serato, but then switched to Rekordbox because I had a Pioneer beginner controller. When I got my Native z2 and turntables, I switched to Traktor. I now have a Rane 72 mk2 and am using Serato Pro again and am absolutely happy with it. My next mixer will be the Pioneer A9 but then I would still like to stick with Serato, but just in case I would like to work with Rekordbox so that I can be ready for the club. greets from Germany ✌️☺️
This was a great video. I've been deep into Traktor since 2006, and all the controllers I've had throughout the years were tied to it. Love the deep mapping capabilities and stuff like remix decks. Used S4 MK3, 2 Allen Heath K2's, and 2 two F1 Kontrols. However, I've been wanting to get back into the clubs so getting into pioneer was a must. I know I can go into HID mode, but part of me wanted to go straight USB only. Deciding to get 2 CDJ 3000s and a DJM V10. Hoping to use HID at home when I want to use my cool features, but go into stand alone mode when I want to get ready to go play in a club that may have that gear. You're spot on saying the hardware market share helps drive DJs to its software, even if it's just for prep using stand alone. Appreciate your video!
I was a Traktor user from the time when it was Final Scratch. Just recently started hearing about Algoriddim Dj Pro so gave it a try. By far the best software out there now. Being able to perform using an Ipad is a game changer. Touchscreen capabilities and built in FX with touchpad is insane. Great stem separation
I have denon and pioneer equipment, have also owned tractor equipment and DJ pro. Despite having the most professional and “coolest” look, the thing I like most about rekordbox is its organization and tagging system. Djing in a live situation, being able to filter on the fly with custom tags I’ve organized by mood and energy level instead of fixed playlists is critical for timing and playing the best song I want to maintain the right atmosphere. RB is the best for that, Engine DJ is close with some workarounds - it should be a priority for them to fix imo and then my Denons would probably win. Denon’s continued support of their equipment providing free upgrades is something I’ve come to value highly with manufacturers - my Pioneer gear is what it is for all time. Can’t speak for Serato, never used it.
Ask SC3900 owners how they feel about that "continued support" when Denon made the new version of Engine that didn't support them, and forced anyone using them to switch to something else because the old version of Engine was so broken. I still use my SC3900s for DVS, at first with Traktor, but now with Rekordbox so that I can actually export to use with Pioneer equipment in the rare instance where I leave my studio.
VirtualDJ for me. The rest of them fall short in some areas that vdj has covered. The effects on VDJ has room for improvement but they're usable and u can always add 3rd party vsts to work in VDJ
I am a bedroom DJ. I bought a Pioneer FLX4. Previously was Hercules DJ Control Steel+VirtualDJ. I don't like Recordbox at all. I was thinking of buying VirtualDJ's per-device license again. You could try VirtualDJ, because for many it could be enough. Recordbox has features behind the payment, which I can unlock with VirtualDJ. Once I pay 114€ and have a lifetime license for the device. The user-friendly layout is to my liking.
Engine DJ deserves more credit, it wasn't great on launch but has since been massively improved. Also it is compatible/featured on a lot of different controllers and players not just Denon but all inMusic brands, including Numark, Stanton and Rane. Having switched from Recordbox to Engine a few years ago I would say it's equally as good and the Denon hardware is equal to or better than the Pioneer hardware and most definitely better value. The only reason to use Recordbox is because nearly every venue has Pioneer players, I have an advantage of owning my own venue so can pretty much install what I like! 😋
Part of the reason people use rekordbox is because of videos like this, which default to discussing the so-called “industry standard” as a proxy for “best.” The “industry standard” in DJing is based upon what clubs place in DJ booths for professionals. The fact is that non-professional DJs exponentially outnumber professional DJs. Many of us are as into spinning now as we were when we were teenagers and may never get (back) into a club or festival. Given this, why not talk about what is the best software package for managing your music collection generally, and then the best software to for managing your music collection while DJing? This whole notion of defaulting to “industry standard” in these discussions reinforces the notion that some software is the “only” choice when it isn’t or shouldn’t be.
you can use open-source software to separate out stems if you just want to use basic vocal/instrumental mixing, that lets you use them on anything from old CDJs to open source software (Mixxx) to rekordbox/serato to etc
@@philipdaian8386 True, i have a couple of softwares that allow me to do that outside of DJ Software however when you get that inspiration on the fly or your just playing about to see what might sound good together you really need your DJ software to do a reasonable job, currently Rekordbox doesn't do that imho.
Because most of the DJs people aspire to be like use pioneer gear and most of the clubs people aspire to play at have pioneer gear…It’s basically the same as any celebrity endorsement/sponsorship deal but has added practically of learning the gear you’ll most likely play if by some one in a million chance you make it that far.
I am not an expert on each software to recommend a specific one but, in my 15 years of DJ experience and imo, Pioneer is the leader on DJ hardware and Serato the leader on DJ software. All businesses want more market so Pionner decide to take more market on software almost forcing customers to switch if we are using their equipment, imagine Serato creating their own CDJ’s or controllers. That will be interesting and I believe many DJs will be interested on trying. Serato is great creating hardware, now anyone can buy a cheap controller to start their DJ journey, to something really expensive that many DJ’s appreciate on big stages if you are a pro. Same with Serato you have the option for Serato DJ lite for beginners to Serato pro if you are ready to pay for a complete dedicated software. Now days new DJs had to many options to choose from that I feel old 😅 I am open to try new stuff of course and I did in the past but, my choice still will be Pionner for hardware and Serato for software.
Im a Vdj user who hv tried rekordbox serato and djay. Pros and cons in them all as i love the quality of the fx on rekordbox, but the stems are really weak. The library management is great, but in vdj the advantage is i can move, copy, rename or delete a file directly on the file itself without having to create a playlist or crate. To me the quality of stems are the cleanest as well. Versatility on hardware and integration is unmatched in vdj.. so im safe.
Traktor user here.. my mixer failed so i had no other option to get my FLX4 to be able to spin. And so used to my DVS setup with Traktor i wasnt happy to have to switch to rekordbox or serato to operate the FLX4. Lucky a friend said its a midi so now got it mapped to Traktor. And if i do wanna play at at friend i just transfer my Traktor playlist to Rekordbox. With this setup i also dont have to buy a bigger controller yet, the DVS vinyl and jogwheels can be used this way with Traktor. (while the FLX4 not is being promoted as to work with vinyl or Traktor) And as coming from vinyl it seems the FLX4 is an easy beginner to master a controller and Rekordbox, win win!
Rekordbox needs a lot of work. When it comes to Spanish music like cumbias, merengue etc. its horrible when it comes to analyzing music. The bpm are horrible, I don't have time to go on every single track fixing the grid. Engine prime analyze better. Serato, virtual dj, traktor and even algoriddim I don't have a problem. I use Serato, traktor, and algoriddim because when it comes to analyzing my Spanish music it does a better job then rekordbox. When it comes to house EDM stuff like that rekordbox does a good job. But most of my gigs I play a lot of Spanish music. So that's why I don't use rekordbox to any of my gigs.
My first controller was a VMS 4.1, so I had V D J. I think the biggest problem with it is there is so much you can do with it, that it can get overwhelming. I now have the Rane Four, which came with Serato, which was totally new to me, so I got ne the Crossfader Serato course and enjoy both of them.
about to make a decision on where to start. Tractor is looking real good as I use Maschine to make beats. Also, they don't require a subscription! power to the people
Djay Pro has surprised me alot. Absolutely astonishing to mix with. UI and controls aren't as good as rekordbox but im learning to use both in the eventuality DJay Pro want to take on the professional space.
I know it’s a really dumb reason, but I went with RB and also pioneer gear because i see all the clubs in my area support it. So I just want to practice without any transition hiccups and learning curves when playing out. Just like in the vinyl days all the major clubs have Technic 1200s.
RB is a dream for me to work in. I use the basic free version there's no need at all to pay the subscription if you have Hardware unlock device. Even 6.5.4 is still fantastic but I use v 7.3.
Nice video. Great experience based run. If RB could hire a UI/UX designer & get their responsive issues sorted they could lock it up. But….might be why they/Alpha Theta bought Serato? Algoriddim djay is quickly gaining ground, and if they don’t come out on top, they will likely be cloned as they seem to be the only remaining product that cares about the original UI/UX point. Keep the party rocking 🤙🏽😎🖤🕺🔊
Started with DJay, then moved to Serato, once the DDJ1000 came out, I moved to Rekordbox. Own a Denon Prime Go and Rekordbox can be easily exported. Stems are the weakest for sure, so as a mobile DJ I bought the DDJRev5 to use Djay or Serato with better stems. I'm an open format DJ so no real preference in software but for now, Rekordbox shall remain my core software and library manager. Changing software is a bit of a pain. Serato analyzes tracks better than Rekordbox and many mobile DJs rave about VDJ. Use what works for you and your environment.
I stared on torq back in the day, eventually moved to Traktor (2.x) and eventually landed on Rekordbox as I was getting annoyed managing multiple libraries.
I have to use both Rekordbox and Traktor Pro because i do both my own gigs with Traktor and also festival/clubs with Pioneer and it is much easier to do prep in Rekordbox but easier to perform i found in Traktor with the effects.
I feel like this is clickbait - if Rekordbox topped the poll it was ONLY because people have to use it prep USB drives for CDJs, XDJs, etc. I've NEVER seen anyone using Rekordbox for performance out in the wild, it is Serato 98% of the time with the occasional Traktor user.
I have a DDJ200, no money to invest but huge technological creativity and willing to customize every single aspect of controller to make most of that small boi 200. And i have a strong feeling that Traktor will do better for me for midi mapping than Rekordbox. I havent attempted that yet and lets be honest while Rekordbox is hardware unlocked, Traktor i would need to pirate at first to try out
I just don't like to use Serato. I hate it's implementation of sync. Rekordbox's sync function is much better. (Yeah yeah, I can DJ on vinyl. I just like using sync). RB was much more similar to Traktor and I liked Rekordbox the second I tested it as a Traktor user.
Most DJs in the weddings/events/mobile side of the business use Virtual DJ. I've been using it for over 10 years and have no intention to change unless I see a killer feature in another software.
For me it always was important to use a mixed setup of sound-devices and none of the software-versions that came with the controller was able to do that. Not even in the pro-versions because it is bound to that hardware. Traktor was able to do that long time ago but not any more, and Mixvibes as well. So the open-source software Mixxx can do it but is not so intuitive. And for sure i don't want to pay monthly ... so i ended up with VirtualDJ separately bought and that works fine with my hardware and is intuitive. For me, as a DJ in VR, there is no need for any club-standard.
Serato dj pro simply just because im used to it and i feel the software more especially when im scratching.. I wanted to shift to rekord box but i failed,.. Ts kinda complicated than sersto dj pro
Quick question: Where did you get the stats for market shares? Market shares is often a subject for discussion, and I personally only know the results from the yearly DDJT survey. Their results are similar, but still quite a bit different
Literally because it came with the controller! But now they are trying to make it subscription based so I switched to DJAY Pro … it’s missing some features but it makes up for it in the functionality of Apple Music!
Thanks ! Any easy way to migrate from Serato to Rekordbox in order to import all of my playlists and Hot Cues per song ?? I'm on windows and I only found overpriced stuff or not-so-well working tools Thank you a lot
Biggest intellectual value a DJ can have besides the files, are the tags. Tags = navigating in your musical database = good selection = most of the work a DJ can do. + it's way too individual that any ai system could figure it out. How the heck is Rekordbox going to fit into this game? It's easy: it doesn't. When you have your tags written in the comment section of the file, it can be shared between different softwares, except Rekordbox. Like I can toggle between Serato and Engine DJ and I can take my second biggest intellectual property with me. Rekordbox has their own system for tags because they've always felt superior to others and now ..great luck with that. Let them be superior by themselves. I have my choice for something else.
I really like relordbox but… sucks being tied to pioneer stuff. Great when I had the XZ, but if I want to expand, either fork out for the 3000’s or the xdj 1000 mk2. No luck getting lc6000’s or ranes, so atm I am working on moving to serato or any other software.. I miss the vinyl and cd days..
the only reason im using rekordbox is their amazing library system, my tags revolutionize my music sorting, they can improve a lot in terms of stabilty, customization, their stems
I bough virtual dj bc it was the only one that you can pay once and get free updates. I find great value in the virtual dj script that allow you to map your controller with basically anything. Even though it's a pain in the ass because of the lack of keywords (you can't do OR tests, you're forced to chain AND tests for this like wtf?), if you spend enough time, you'll be able to make whatever you want with any midi controllers. For example i made my launchpad light different ways according to the slicer position to create a small animation that sync automatically to the tempo. Idk if there is something similar in other softwares
I’ve had about 13 years out - having kids. But I was a Traktor user, at the time it was THE platform to use. Everyone used it, at least with house and tech. What the hell happened? It’s so strange to see this. Record box was just a file management tool for USB sticks and track inventory. Makes sense for them to evolve it and clearly they have the hardware market still, never a doubt. But is it actually any good? I wouldn’t mind getting a controller and starting to play again but it’s like the world has changed in ways.
Damn just when I got my traktor control s4 😭😭😭 I didn’t know this was a thing which kinda sucks I figured dj’s would bring their own equipment and set it up
So I admit it, I have all the DJ software icons neatly lined up on the task bar at the bottom of my screen. Mostly lean towards djay Pro and Serato, but I like to see what's going on with all of them. Still can't pick just one 🙂
I used Traktor for over a decade, mainly because they were the only ones in the DJ software space in the beginning. About four years ago, I switched to Rekordbox when I upgraded my gear from the original Kontrol S4 to the DJJ1000. Lately, it’s been a bit frustrating to see other software roll out features more effectively than Rekordbox (looking at you, stems). Plus, the constant push to buy a subscription is annoying. However, I do understand-and almost appreciate-why Rekordbox takes its time with new features. The combination of their hardware and software has been rock-solid for me, and I’ll always prioritize stability over new features. After all, stems won't matter if my software crashes during a live set.
I bought a Hercules Inpulse 500 on Crossfader's recommendation so I've been using Hercules' own DJUCED software. It's fine I guess. I really REALLY dislike the UI for Rekordbox and prefer Traktor's. VirtualDJ seems HUGE on my ultrawide monitor for no apparent reason and doesn't seem to have an option to make it smaller. But hey, I only play at home so I can flip between whatever I prefer.
does anyone have a good resource for how to keep file management smooth and files organized in recordbox? It seems like my tracks always get duplicated and then the only way to remove the duplicates is manually going through them which takes hours... I really don't understand the organization system. Help!
Because Pioneer has a monopoly in the DJ industry, CDJ’s use record box so out of necessity that’s what people have to use, then they price gouge on top of that
Literally every dj I know uses Serato. I dj mobile, clubs, and private events...every single dj (across the tri state area and the Caribbean) uses Serato. Not one dj ever...I mean ever has asked to connect with Rekordbox. Besides controllers, I used cdj's and I just bring my usb sticks for those events.
Protip: they don't want to. But if you can't use a laptop and Serato/Traktor, what choice do you have. Rekordbox is slow, error prone and clunky. The UX is about as intuitive as operating the Space Shuttle.
Cause is free to use with the purchase of a controller it has all the performance features while serato lite doesn't serato lite in comparison to rekordbox is almost unserviciable for a lot of ppl you can't even record Your mixes

OK Crossfader, now do a poll where DJs use Rekordbox by FORCE not by choice.
Will run this idea by Legal
Reck a box lol
Yeah seems like you need it if you use cdjs which is 90% of venues.
@@Crossfaderlegal? You literally stated the fact on the video
I use serato by force cause rekordbox don’t support soundswitch

Can't go wrong with VDJ. Excellent software. Customizable. Very well supported.

This. It's hardware driven. You need a laptop to make any other competitor work right. Every competitor is better.
I have zero issues with it. I love working in it just the free version. It's hooked up to a decent desktop. I'm a controller dj DJ though. So I can't comment on the status of using it with pro gear.,but the DJs I see using it don't seem to have any issues with it. I just cannot trust it to accurately identify the key especially with isovox so I use paid software that works more accurately for that
Rekordbox hast the Performance of traktor 20years ago.
First it wasn't that intuitiv but I worked my self into rekordbox and now I don't want to change anymore because I like the many features and clean look that rekordbox has
I choosed DENON 😅 live sc 4 ....so i hope for the best
VirtualDJ has the best stems in the world. Fully customizable ah it works very smooth on every device I've tried. It's simply the best. Fx quality is the only negative thing i can say, compared to the others
Thinking I might make the switch tbh. Don't like all these subscription models. Plus I got a board With inserts and send/return so can use external effects! Even a couple cheap guitar pedals are sm better than on board effects
With VDJ you're not limited to the supplied FX because it can host VST plugins, so the world is your lobster.
I use Virtual DJ. Their mapping capabilities are amazing. You can customize the buttons on whatever controller you have. Stems are awesome as well.
They're pretty clean but far inferior to getting into ensemble mode with multiple vip algorithms and a nvidia gfx card.
Would you still recommend someone in today’s time to use traktor?
Switched to traktor after 4 years of rekordbox. Definitly worth it, if you want to be more creative. But rekordbox is still a good software imo
Mine honestly is VirtualDJ. I haven't tried Serato yet.
I’ve used Rekordbox DVS since 2018 but am in the process of switching to DJay Pro and it’s made mixing fun again for me.
Rekordbox stems make me want to switch every time I use them
Such a shame they still don't sound great
never used them, what’s wrong with rb’s stems?
@@kozmobluemusicthey sound garbage compared to other software
Mixxx 2.4.1 Stable. Great free software and works with my pioneer ddj-400.
Personally, I moved away from RB for several reasons, which include:
-Stability issues.
-Regular freezes, won’t load tracks
-inability to recover from internet drops without spazzing out.
-Long start up times
-Failure in portable scenarios (I can’t get RB to work properly between my DDJ-FLX4 and iPad for example).
The best music in the club will always be played by the best dj, no matter what software he uses. This will never change.
Always been a Rekordbox DJ but i'm growing increasingly concerned about them hiding features (and controllers!!) behind subscriptions
It's definitely something to keep an eye on if that concerns you.
The paid features are absolutely unnecessary and add nothing to my sets or work flow. Even 6.5.4 is still reliable and free.
I like Serato and Rekordbox..... I wish I could combine them together into SeratoBox
Gotta put some respect on VDJ 💪🏽🙂↕️ works with any and every hardware system not to mention the pioneer of stems and doing it the best 🗿
I have been Traktor for years, tried recordbox and have ended up with djayPRO.
Exactly, break structures to get change otherwise it will remain as it is.
Swear by Rekordbox?
No. But i do regularly swear at Rekordbox. Where are my Stems Mother Fu*&£$%. How much longer we still got to wait?
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
you can use open-source software to separate out stems if you just want to use basic vocal/instrumental mixing, that lets you use them on anything from old CDJs to open source software (Mixxx) to rekordbox/serato to etc
Always been on Traktor, and happy Pro 4 finally came out. Just waiting for a new s4 announcement
Now days new DJs had to many options to choose from that I feel old 😅 I am open to try new stuff of course and I did in the past but, my choice still will be Pionner for hardware and
Serato for software.
(while the FLX4 not is being promoted as to work with vinyl or Traktor)
And as coming from vinyl it seems the FLX4 is an easy beginner to master a controller and Rekordbox, win win!
I used rekordbox with my Ddj 800. It was OK. But scratching on it doesn’t sound very good and stems kinda sucks. I went back to Serato.
RB is a dream for me to work in. I use the basic free version there's no need at all to pay the subscription if you have Hardware unlock device. Even 6.5.4 is still fantastic but I use v 7.3.
Virtual Dj is the best! i don't care what this so call experts said.
Definitely a super powerful software for all types of DJs!
What’s virtual Dj?
Interesting video and thoughts. Traktor called my attention as I mainly play electronic music, any idea if it can be used with flx10?
I feel like this is clickbait - if Rekordbox topped the poll it was ONLY because people have to use it prep USB drives for CDJs, XDJs, etc. I've NEVER seen anyone using Rekordbox for performance out in the wild, it is Serato 98% of the time with the occasional Traktor user.
I only use it to export music so i can use usb drives. That's it.
Having come from Traktor, I will say this... I really prefer the newer three color waveform display on Rekordbox.
No one is mentioning that if you have tractor 3 you will need to pay $75.00 if you want to use tractor 4
Most DJs in the weddings/events/mobile side of the business use Virtual DJ. I've been using it for over 10 years and have no intention to change unless I see a killer feature in another software.
DJAY Pro AI! Here 🔥
For me it always was important to use a mixed setup of sound-devices and none of the software-versions that came with the controller was able to do that.
Just getting started and was suggested NI Traktor Kontrol S4 MK3 and Traktor 4... :D
Virtual DJ also has built in streaming/broadcasting which is nice
stopped using rekordbox after 8 year again back to serato love serato
Serato dj pro simply just because im used to it and i feel the software more especially when im scratching.. I wanted to shift to rekord box but i failed,.. Ts kinda complicated than sersto dj pro
In USA believe its serato but recordbox works very good with it own hardware
Quick question: Where did you get the stats for market shares?
Market shares is often a subject for discussion, and I personally only know the results from the yearly DDJT survey. Their results are similar, but still quite a bit different
Literally because it came with the controller! But now they are trying to make it subscription based so I switched to DJAY Pro … it’s missing some features but it makes up for it in the functionality of Apple Music!
Thanks ! Any easy way to migrate from Serato to Rekordbox in order to import all of my playlists and Hot Cues per song ??
I'm on windows and I only found overpriced stuff or not-so-well working tools
Thank you a lot
Even though I use record box i have never liked it's latency. Tractor has always seemed way more snappy.
Serato rules!
Rekordbox just because I own a Pioneer console. And just found only Pioneer consoles on every single place I played until now.
i love serato
does anyone have a good resource for how to keep file management smooth and files organized in recordbox? It seems like my tracks always get duplicated and then the only way to remove the duplicates is manually going through them which takes hours... I really don't understand the organization system. Help!
We are in a point where all dj software are lacking many essential features
🤟
Lol this must be for house DJ's.
Caribbean DJ's almost exclusively use Serato, which is the standard across the entire region
Rekordbox was great but alphatheta completely fucked it
Because Pioneer has a monopoly in the DJ industry, CDJ’s use record box so out of necessity that’s what people have to use, then they price gouge on top of that
I would like to figure out how to load songs to serato. Im thinking about ditching my pioneer unit for something else because it's frustrating.
Been a dj for 35 years, never heard of it
I hate rekordbox when it comes on mixing accapellas with instrumental.serato does the job better and virtual best
Agree and the correct name is Reck A Box
Protip: they don't want to. But if you can't use a laptop and Serato/Traktor, what choice do you have. Rekordbox is slow, error prone and clunky. The UX is about as intuitive as operating the Space Shuttle.
Cause is free to use with the purchase of a controller it has all the performance features while serato lite doesn't serato lite in comparison to rekordbox is almost unserviciable for a lot of ppl you can't even record Your mixes
I found this statement hard to accept because here in the Caribbean no onr if any uses pioneer software they all use serato
If your DJ in raves its RB because most clubs have a pioneer set up which you need RB to get your tunes set up
Virtual DJ pro infinity is savage
what about Djuced??! 74% Keeey recognition and great overview since it has bigger waveform windows. Why is rekordbox not adjusting these two points!
