Just put in my preorder, expected early April. I was about to buy a DDJ-1000, but was told to hold off a week, very glad I did. In all honesty, not a massive fan of the jog wheels, as I don’t like the surrounding nub, but am very excited for this to come in 💪

How do the EQ knobs work when switching between EQ and stems modes? For example, if you are in EQ mode and you turn the Low EQ all the way counterclockwise, and then hit Shift+CUE to switch to stems mode, what happens to the lows? Conversely, if you start off in stems mode and cut out the drums, and then switch back out into EQ mode, do the drums come back but the lows are cut out completely?
I will say that RB finally adding stems is great, however it’s not as granular as I’d like. If it had the same options as VDJ (vocals, melody, bass, percussion, kick) it would be an instant hit. This may be added in a future update, but then this controller will be suddenly outdated because the hardware would not match the new stem options. But then again, that’s where auxiliary controllers like a MIDI Fighter would shine!
I am not sure they will add those things - they will have debated this and decided three is their "sweet spot" for stems. Remains to be seen if they're right (as you say, VirutalDJ has 5, and as we know Serato has four).
With all of that i can't believe that there is still no usb port to hook a drive up to for music instead of having to hook it up to your computer and no usbc out and in. I'll wait. Your review is amazing as usual.
It doesn’t have a screen, so it wouldn’t make sense to plug music into a controller. If it was a standalone it would have a screen and you could load music into it like the opus quad.
It looks wonderful. It does have a lot of new features but it does seem to lack some of the essential. They’ve removed the fluffy felt slip-matts and stylus. They have kept the traditional pitch fader but the record box is now a virtual addition rather than a physical weight that would normally be carried around one of your mates. There are some new flashing lights. The bonuses that come with a classic style pitch fader remain. They’ve done away with the little nobly silver thingy that holds the vinyl in place whilst it’s being played and that not so cool. But still it looks really classy. 😄 I love it.
Things I care about that changed from the DDJ-1000: 6 Color FX buttons, Tempo reset button, two decimal places for bpm on the on-job display, dedicated memory cue controls, and better sound quality (if it extends beyond the phono preamps), more in-job display functions. Still doesn't have a parameter knob for FX, or Low/Mid/High isolation for FX (maybe you could remap Shift+the Simon-like stems FX iso buttons to that function?). Stems are cool, but I wouldn't want to pay $500 more just for that.
@@djchelosantiago Well there's something that's objectively better about the SRT version. With only one decimal, you have to look at the screen when beatmaching manually to know exactly where the fader is at. If the Tempo +/- display had two decimal points, like CDJs, that would work too, but of course it doesn't.
In 2017 i got a numark nv controller I didn't open the nox for 2 weeks becausr of the switch from tt to a controller. But I finally opened and in 2 monthd I got the hang of it.the numark is good for a beginner but now i want too advance myself and this flex 10 definitely gonna get this one..thank to all the demos very informative
Hello there. Great video !!!! Quick question - how and why reverse button stay lit ? Another one - if you instant double on the vocal part, how to make this deck to go to slip mode? Thanks
I just bought one just in case they sell out but it doesn't seem a whole lot different than how the DDJ 1000 works powered by virtual dj as far as the stems effects and EQ stuff. There are some different bells and whistles though that are intriguing and my ddj-1000 is getting a little used and worn. I don't suppose the DMX will work with soundswitch and that's a bummer. I'm not sure if I'd ever use the mix Point live buttons but the upside is if I don't then I have some extra midi buttons to program if I'd like which is always a plus. Thanks for the quick review you're always on top of it Phil
11:25 VDJ does the same thing, except it uses the unused channels 3 and 4 for stem level adjustments. You keep the EQ control with VDJ. And this works on any 4-channel controller with VDJ. Serato needs some work. Even the Stems don't sound as good as VDJ stems. I'll get this unit. But I'll use VDJ on it. The last 3 controllers I've had were labeled "Serato," and VDJ worked better than Serato on those controllers. VDJ works better on controllers labeled "Serato" than Serato.
This is really impressive and opens up lots of creative options. Having mixed vinyl since the age of 11 - I want in! I always enjoyed the challenge of beat matching and got bored without it but with hands on stem control combined with hands on effects seems it seems more fun. They should definitely at least have a high quality mode for those with more powerful pcs. For a 'Pro' company their stems need to sound 'Pro' and not inferior to other dj software. Not only that but you get less stems to play with. I wonder if you can control decks 3 and 4 using your turntables to minimize switching control layers. I'm tempted by the Rane Four but I want to get used to a modern club setup. The software I want most want to use it with is djay pro having been with traktor for years and finding my audio 8 no longer works on apple silicon. I would love it if they released a new XZ pretty much like the flx10 but with a big high res touch screen. I would prefer to be more standalone. i've only just download rekordbox to try it so disappointed with it. The beatgrid analysis is poor even on 4/4 stuff and the stems sounds bad. Beatgridding like this is the part of the reason I still mix vinyl or dvs manually. I'm not spending my life preparing tracks - I want to DJ not have endless preparation admin! DJay is the complete opposite - everything is superb. How can industry standard be this bad? I'm waiting for djays mapping until I get a flx10.
Hi Phil, my DDJ-FLX10 finally came in today, super excited! I cannot figure out though, how do you enable Master Tempo! What are the key strokes on the controller to make this happen? Thank you!
My biggest irritation with the flx10 is the fact that switching vinyl mode on and off gives no sort of indicator like a light or vinyl indicator. Cant tell you the amount of times I wanted to pitch bend and instead ended up on vinyl mode. This can definitely be fixed by Pioneer via a simple firmware update and a small vinyl indicator on the middle screen. Am I missing something?
Great review. I got my today and I can’t get the sound come through the speakers. I have a MacBook. Everything is to today~ do you have any information on this ?
Hi, I'm considering buying this unit as my upgrade, so I really enjoyed this video. You said the sound quality had supposedly improved on the DDJ-1000. Did you get a chance to hook some technics turntables up and if so how did they sound? And are you planning on doing a video demonstrating this also as its a big talking point? Also I plan on slowly building more of a club set up and wanted to add a CDJ-3000 to this unit. Does the mixer of the DDJ pick up the BPM of the external players for beat effects or would you need to manually tap that in to the beat, as I believe was mentioned on this video? I realise there won't be any DJ pro link so I'm unsure how an external unit would work with the DDJ. Thanks again. Pete
No easy way to sync a CDJ to this because, as you say, no Pro DJ Link. Also we haven't tested the phono preamps, but I asked Pioneer DJ specifically and they said they'd improved them.
With the pricing, I'm assuming they've left a gap in the middle for a DDJ-FLX8 that will probably be a 2 channel version of this one (replacing the DDJ-800)?
Your review is very helpful. I got this same a week ago. It’s all new to me. One thing I’m having trouble is with the headphones sound when I’m using RekordBox is also comes on my speakers The weird thing is that o don’t have the same problem when I’m using Serato. Any idea how to fix that? Or what I’m doing wrong!
@@digitaldjtips I will check it out. Thank you so much for the quick response. I still not sure if is the right deck for me. Maybe to just h for a beginner. Any recommendations? I would like to get something that I done need to replace in a few years.
Returning to this video just because I’m looking to upgrade but don’t think I want a stand alone; how does the FLX10 compare to a DDJ-800? Between having the option to buy either one, which would be better ?
This unit is a lot newer and that would be it’s only advantage other than the four channels as far as I’m concerned I think the 800 is a great basic professional DJ unit. If you want stems control of course it has to be this one but a lot of the features on this one miss the mark in my view and it’s a little bit overcomplicated.
Very interesting piece of equipment! And yes please make a separate video with more extense demo of the Lighting Mode, for both the automatic scenes and the manual mode! Thks!
Hi Justin! Can you please feature an update on all the DJ controllers (FLX10, Opus Quad, Rane 4, etc.) fully compatible with DJAY AI Pro, on top of those already listed in the app? That’d be awesome. Cheers!
@@digitaldjtips I like the new features with stems to separate the vocal, drums and synth from the track and oft corse the ligh controll from the controller the most. The two paralell wavelines in the jogwheel are very nice 😊 And what is also very cool that you now can use rekordbox and serato too👍But for me this controller is overkill 😂 I will buy the flx4. My old reloop controller (digital jockey2)with tracktor pro is over 10 years old now. Have not done much djing the last couple years, but always was intrestet in new gear. Like your videos a lot 😊👍
Yeah was about to go to bed, fired up my rekordbox for some reason, saw a numbered update... Then stems.... Needless to say we stayed up later lolll im surprised no master class on the new features yet, idk what the hell that mix in thing is, but we are definitely remapping my midi for mashups
Quick question - using the FLX10 + Serato, is there anyway to isolate EQ parts or an EQ kill workaround? I'm fairly sure not, but worth double checking...
That's really Kool now imagine those same features on in all in one with an xy pad....hint the xz2 with rev7 jog wheels with opus screen and rekordbox/seroto software built in that will TRUELY make it in all in one...thank you for all vedios
I'm curious about the form factor. Are deck savers, Bags and Enclosures of the DDJ-1000 compatible with the FLX10? The website lists differing dimensions, but some sources claim that they're the same. Are you able to compare the two controllers?
@@digitaldjtips thank you! I figured, the specs say that it's larger. But another review claimed it's the same so i was getting confused... Another sub on board!
Thank you very much for video. When it comes to the onboard effects, does the FX Part Select work for each channel independently or all at once? For example, can I use an effect to affect the vocals on channel 1 and then the same effect to affect the instrumentals on channel 2?
So what im worried about is, since it has hardware fx, am i actually able to use the fx through my own audio interface I have my main speakers plugged into?
@@digitaldjtips I know, but I don't wanna mess with my cable management every time I wanna DJ a bit since I also produce music. Do you know about a possible work-around?
What laptop strenght would you suggest to pair with this controller? What are minimal requirements for this controller on a windows laptop? Will my i5 with 8GB RAM be able to handle everything?
Hi nice video. I have a DDJ FLX 10 as well and I couldn't figure it out how to mix two songs using the link mode feature. I have tried to do the same as you did in your video and it's just doesn't work. The left and right side buttons beside the Link button when I press to choose a cue point from the song like you do, to me it didn't jump to a different cue point but instead it changed the key note of the song. Also it doesn't show the cue point A and B like in your video. I'm stuck. Is there any specific settings that I have to do in Serato software to make the mix Link to work ? Any specific mode or settings from controller? Any help I'll appreciate. Thank you !
Nice controller. I would really like to know how the DMX in rekordbox is working together with this controller. I now own an LR512 with lightrider, but maybe this can be a nice addon to sync some lights iwth the music....
I think the FLX10 is genius by pioneer, people will buy it to use serato stems which are 'better' realise they cant use it due to processing power of their existing laptop, but instead of going and buying a new £1K laptop macbook air M1 onwards, they will just switch to rekordbox, and it just works... then when they use rekordbox and realise library management is awesome, FX are killer by comparison with Pad effects too, they will transition over fully. Has everyone missed this point? if the FLX10 was only serato, then this would not be marketable indirectly. and the fact it has DMX too, well, its the nail in the coffin for serato, with £8 per month soundswitch subscriptions, and additional hardware. I really fancy the FLX10, to replace my Roland DJ707m, I think its awesome.
Good point re offsetting the cost of a SoundSwitch subscription against Rekordbox Lighting, although to be fair to SoundSwitch it does a LOT more than Pioneer DJ's lighting mode.
@@digitaldjtips I agree and use soundswitch, but honestly, rekordbox lighting does all we need mostly, and it does gobo's now i believe, if only I could get my hands on a RB-DMX1 to try. :)
I'm brand new to DJing and want a controller that I don't have to upgrade anytime soon. I've narrowed it down to Pioneer FLX 10 and REV7, although I'm open to Rane One and Four. Which do you think would be the best choice for me?
Choose your software first - do you want Rekordbox or Serato? Then decide if you want motorised or "Static" jogwheels. That should narrow it down considerably.
I cant decide whether i want the rx3 or the flx 10 my main problem is the screen on the mixer itself. Also im worried about the future as a dubstep dj ill need to start doing quad drops

Totally different units though. One of them needs a laptop and one of them doesn't.
Ordered a FLX10 yesterday! 💪😎 Hopefully a road case will be available soon.
Have fun
When you started scratching I realized you should have been part of the invisible scratch pickles. Insane !
🤣😉
With all of that i can't believe that there is still no usb port to hook a drive up to for music instead of having to hook it up to your computer and no usbc out and in.
I'll wait.
Your review is amazing as usual.
It doesn’t have a screen, so it wouldn’t make sense to plug music into a controller. If it was a standalone it would have a screen and you could load music into it like the opus quad.
Controllers aren't really for that
Awesome video! Please show us the DMX lighting stuff. 🌈
Thank you! Will do!
The DMX feature is a WIN 👌🏼
We're making a video about it now
It looks wonderful.
🤣
Things I care about that changed from the DDJ-1000: 6 Color FX buttons, Tempo reset button, two decimal places for bpm on the on-job display, dedicated memory cue controls, and better sound quality (if it extends beyond the phono preamps), more in-job display functions. Still doesn't have a parameter knob for FX, or Low/Mid/High isolation for FX (maybe you could remap Shift+the Simon-like stems FX iso buttons to that function?). Stems are cool, but I wouldn't want to pay $500 more just for that.
Thanks for this thoughtful list
You can see two decimal BPM places on the DDJ1000SRT jog display
@@djchelosantiago Well there's something that's objectively better about the SRT version. With only one decimal, you have to look at the screen when beatmaching manually to know exactly where the fader is at. If the Tempo +/- display had two decimal points, like CDJs, that would work too, but of course it doesn't.
Slick piece of kit that. Not a pioneer man myself but very good Pioneer. 👌
I've had a good lesson with this video to use my FLX10
Glad to help
I've used multiple software's for years, love rekordbox and serato- I think this controller would suit me just fine 🙂
Guess it's time to start saving.
Nice review Phil.
Glad you liked it!
I'm glad that this has helped you make the decision about your next controller.
Thanks for all the great info.
you're welcome
Thanks for the quick review you're always on top of it Phil
thanks Drew!
Virtual DJ does a good job of both the software and the hardware integrations, it doesn't have millions of fans for nothing...
Yes you can control two decks with turntables
Great work! Also what song is playing?
Hi Phil, my DDJ-FLX10 finally came in today, super excited! I cannot figure out though, how do you enable Master Tempo! What are the key strokes on the controller to make this happen? Thank you!
Long hold the KEY SYNC button
@@digitaldjtips Apparently, it's the Link button in Serato DJ Pro. Forgot to mention I was using that for software but thank you Phil!
This is deffo on my shopping list
Good luck finding one, reckon they'll be popular!
What's the UK retail price for this 🤔 think I'm gonna treat myself to one for my birthday lol....
It's in the written review that's linked, up to date.
I bought mine 🎉🎉🎉🎉I love it
Cool!
Thanks for sharing this, I guess most people have it permanently on or off.
Great review. I got my today and I can’t get the sound come through the speakers. I have a MacBook. Everything is to today~ do you have any information on this ?
There is an audio set-up section in our full training here: ua-cam.com/video/zR7mfS7lyAk/v-deo.htmlsi=CU5VrG6AtzbnjNIm
Awesome review. Just wondering, if the stem EQing(High, Mid, Lows) available for Serato?
No, just on/off on the pads.
@@digitaldjtips thanks for the quick reply!! Was searching forever for an answer.
@@digitaldjtipsthanks very much. When I get to a DJ store I might see if they'll allow me to hook a turntable up. Thanks for responding 👍
With the pricing, I'm assuming they've left a gap in the middle for a DDJ-FLX8 that will probably be a 2 channel version of this one (replacing the DDJ-800)?
Not so sure! I don't think there's much of a market for two-channel controllers above the budget level.
@@digitaldjtips just seems a crazy jump from the £500 odd for the FLX6 to £1,600 for the FLX10 😳
There's a box in the audio settings that you can tick/untick for laptop audio. Check out our guide: ua-cam.com/video/zR7mfS7lyAk/v-deo.html
@@digitaldjtips fantastic response, thank you!
very good improvement,,,,,
Very interesting piece of equipment! And yes please make a separate video with more extense demo of the Lighting Mode, for both the automatic scenes and the manual mode! Thks!
You got it!
Hi Justin! Can you please feature an update on all the DJ controllers (FLX10, Opus Quad, Rane 4, etc.) fully compatible with DJAY AI Pro, on top of those already listed in the app? That’d be awesome. Cheers!
Wow what a cool controller 👍
What do you like the most about it?
Just ordered mine
Enjoy!
Let there be lights!!! Please have a video on this as I am someone that traditionally uses dmx controllers alongside my Mixer.
Thanks! One vote for a lighting video
Will definitely Test Stems with SX on new RB.
Shame it does not come in White 😁✌
Amazing
Quick question - using the FLX10 + Serato, is there anyway to isolate EQ parts or an EQ kill workaround? I'm fairly sure not, but worth double checking...
Are all of these features including stems included with rekordbox after you purchase the flex10 or do you have to pay for premium subscription?
Stems is included, Rekordbox is good out-of-the-box so you won't necessarily need to subscribe to it.
That's really Kool now imagine those same features on in all in one with an xy pad....hint the xz2 with rev7 jog wheels with opus screen and rekordbox/seroto software built in that will TRUELY make it in all in one...thank you for all vedios
It would indeed!
Very interested to know more about dmx control!
We have now made a video on it - ua-cam.com/video/Gw2c_2uTTCs/v-deo.html
Did you make the lighting video?
I'm curious about the form factor. Are deck savers, Bags and Enclosures of the DDJ-1000 compatible with the FLX10? The website lists differing dimensions, but some sources claim that they're the same. Are you able to compare the two controllers?
I'd say FLX10 is a bit deeper than the 1000
@@digitaldjtips thank you! I figured, the specs say that it's larger. But another review claimed it's the same so i was getting confused...
Another sub on board!
I already have an XDJ-XZ, but I really like this stems feature in this controller. Do you think it is worth buying it in my position?
You can map the stems to controls on your hardware you don't use, so no.
@@digitaldjtips I was about to waste my money then. Thank you guys!
Hi do the Pads feel any different if u compare them with the DDJ1000s pads?
Gonna guess they're the same
Can you do reviews using Rekordbox instead of Serato????
We do
Very interested in the DMX lighting. As a mobile DJ, it'd be great to limit the amount of gear I have to bring to gigs. Cheers.
OK, +1 for a video on that!
@@digitaldjtips +2 😊
Thank you very much for video. When it comes to the onboard effects, does the FX Part Select work for each channel independently or all at once? For example, can I use an effect to affect the vocals on channel 1 and then the same effect to affect the instrumentals on channel 2?
Only if you choose "Master" (which will put the effect over everything).
Phil, the video you uploaded about MIDI mapping the stems with other controllers has been made private. Is it being re uploaded/re made?
Yeah we uploaded something that wasn't finished - but in the meantime Crossfader did a really good talkthrough, go check theirs out 😀
So what im worried about is, since it has hardware fx, am i actually able to use the fx through my own audio interface I have my main speakers plugged into?
Your speakers should be plugged into the unit itself
@@digitaldjtips I know, but I don't wanna mess with my cable management every time I wanna DJ a bit since I also produce music. Do you know about a possible work-around?
does it have a smart fader?
yes please explain the lights in a video!!!
OK!
Also wanna a see a light show 👀
What laptop strenght would you suggest to pair with this controller? What are minimal requirements for this controller on a windows laptop? Will my i5 with 8GB RAM be able to handle everything?
16GB better for stems, but check their site as there's an up to date spec page there.
Thank you !
You are using Rekordbox, right?
@@digitaldjtips no. I am using Serato.
Nice controller. I would really like to know how the DMX in rekordbox is working together with this controller. I now own an LR512 with lightrider, but maybe this can be a nice addon to sync some lights iwth the music....
We've got a video as promised (lots of people asked): ua-cam.com/video/Gw2c_2uTTCs/v-deo.html
Rane 4 or this? I kinda like this over the 4...
We just published a video on that...
I got a DDJ-FLX4 to learn and want to upgrade do you know any good decks with where you can play 4 tracks at the same time for a reasonable price?😊
DDJ-FLX10
Buy the gear that works for what you're doing now. Want a laptop? FLX10. DJing with no laptop? RX3.
DMX demonstration please 🙏🏼👍🏼
OK!
I see the Mic Point useful for freeing up your hands for Stems &/or FX manipulation
Or indeed the Mic - "Mic point" is a good mixtype!
