Zont bracing is a light weight, cost effective method of flattening an Insulated Concrete Form wall using site available 2x4s. It consists of three components:
Zont™ Waler Brackets: hold horizontal 2x4 walers and vertical 2x4 strongbacks solidly against the ICF wall;
Zuckle™ Wall Aligners: plumb the strongbacks to align the wall to the stringline;
2x4 Walers & Strongbacks: held in the Zont™ bracket and flatten the wall;
Advantages
Straighter walls: Horizontal walers are the first contact with the wall, straightening first in the horizontal direction. Compare this with conventional vertical braces where the first contact is vertical, leading to a wavy horizontal alignment.
Economic: Zont™ bracing is approximately 10% the cost of vertical bracing;
Fast: a 'twist' of the wrist quickly locks the horizontal waler and vertical strongback in position.
Lightweight: Zont™ waler brackets and Zuckle™ wall aligners weight approximately 10% the weight of conventional vertical bracing. Use 5 gallon buckets to carry into the jobsite;
Height Adaptable: brace stem walls or tall walls on same job, just add another row of Zonts™ and another 2x4 waler;
Buck Adaptable: window and end of wall bucks are easily reinforced as there is no vertical brace in the way;
Green: use site available 2x4s, save on delivery and storage costs;
Easily to transport: 12 Zont™ braces fit in a 5 gallon bucket - try that with 12 conventional braces.
We used the traditional ICF bracing with our elaborate cliffside build and it was the biggest and most complicated pain in the ass. These are a total game changer.
Everything has its place, but we think this cost effective solution is great for so many ICF builds out there
The simple solution is often the best. This is a simple and cost effective solution. The 2x bracing can be absorbed into the framing leaving zero waste, smart.
Building "green" is about being smart with what you have onsite. Thanks for the kind words
I just poured the concrete for a full walk basement of 2000sq ft , I used zonts system , I got incredible results
Recommend to everyone , is inexpensive and very precise system . Just follow the instructions
Thank you for professionalism and the incredible product . I really believe is the most affordable system for owner builder
Thanks for the kind words. Really glad it worked out for you. We always love seeing photos of projects so feel free to email to joey@fab-form.com They always look great on our instagram page; instagram.com/fabformindustries/
brilliant ,nice video thanks
Looks good!
I subscribe to Pure Living For Life, I think that's how I got here, but this video is 3 years old already.
I hope these are available for residential projects.
That is our bread and butter
My biggest concern is the flexibility of the 2x4. Quality of the 2x4 could easily become an issue as well.
We have been using 2x4 material for forming concrete for over a hundred years in North America. Yes bowing lumber is not ideal for the horizontal and vertical lumber. But keep in mind, we don't care if our wood is straight, just our ICF walls. As long as we have adjustability every 5' with the Zuckle, we can easilly make any ICF wall straight as an arrow!
@@FabFormIndustries What a dumbass answer.
Looks like a nice product to utilize lumber.
Is it possible to get this bracing in the EU?
Yes, we ship this product worldwide. Feel free to send us an email; info@fab-form.com
is that a J Dilla beat at the begining?
Where did the names "Zont/Zuckle etc" come from? what do the actually mean? Are they made up?
They all come from this being the only horiZONTal ICF bracing system.
It's slow and not what it's cracked up to be, I think I could lay the foundation out of cement block a lot quicker
Have you used the system before? Its implied that you have when you say; its slow and not what its cracked up to be. Then you say you "think" you could lay a foundation out of CMU faster? Which one is it big guy? Pretty conflicting comments there.....
There is a lot of waste with ICF, I bet the green people would love to see the landfills
You did not show all the recommended screws that go into this system, just completed a couple of huge foundations, so I know, plus stepping over the zuckles, trip hazard, but I do like the zuckles adjustment
Finding true lumber would be a problem
We run our eye down all lumber before throwing it on the wall. If it has a large warp we would use it for a diagonal kicker to adjust the wall. If any warping did occur during bracing, you have the turnbuckle on each brace to maintain that the wall is true.
They want to charge $700 just to ship these things. The total would've been $3k. There has to ba a cheaper way.
Where are you trying to get them from?
@@FabFormIndustries Build Block in Colorado Springs. Shipping is from Canada? Thank you.
Put the zuffle on the zont? who own this company, dr. Seuss?
Hahaha. The first product was the Zont, as it is the first bracket for hori"zont"al bracing. Then we didn't stop with the Z from there. But its pretty funny hearing these names being thrown around on a jobsite for sure.
