Great tutorial. Very well explained. Thanks
Best instruction out there ❤
Great tutorial! Just did my first buttonholes and they turned out great. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It is clear and concise. I also like that you are working on a live project rather than a swatch--may not matter to others, but it made a difference for me.
That’s what I said too!!
This is the best tutorial for the subject
this is hands-down the BEST tutorial on the internet for a one row buttonhole. I love that you explained how to avoid creating holes, why you twisted stitches as you did the cabled cast-on (as well as how to actually DO the cabled cast on). Really valuable video!
Oh wow! This tutorial save my cardigan from frogging! Thank you!
Thank you not only for demonstrating how to execute a one row buttonhole but for explaining why you twist the cable cast on stitches when returning to the needle and how to avoid those horrible holes in my knitted fabric. I subscribed for this tip alone. But I’m sure I’ll be back for more tips in the future.
Thank you its so clean and neat .
I ‘ll use it now
Have to agree on all the comments, only video I watched that explained the procedure step by step and helped me make successful button holes - Thank you
This is my 3rd video on the subject and it is absolutely the BEST!!!! Thanks so much for sharing❌⭕️
Thank you SO MUCH for mentioning about not snugging up the yarn too much on those first and last stitches! I frogged a button band due to that exact issue!❤
Me too!
Best button hole video ever! Thank you!
this is a GREAT tutorial on a one row buttonhole. this is the only way i'll do a buttonhole from now on!
This is just the perfect tutorial for the button hole, thank you!
You explained it so clearly and your instructions were easy to follow. Thank you so much! 🤗
I haven't knitted for about 20 years so was excited to knit a cable cardigan for my little grandson, I don't like 1 stitch button holes so wanted to do a 4 stitch button hole, but when I got to that point I couldn't remember for the life of me how to do them... But I found your tutorial... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.. So easy to follow and some great little tips..
The best tutorial. 👍 keep it up!
Best tutorial on making buttonhole. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much 😊
Hi BEST Tutorial on this Buttonhole demonstration, I used your technique on 10 Buttonholes on my Long Jacket/ Coat, each one was more & more beautiful & perfect.THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT WORK THAT YOU SHARE WITH US.
I have been wanting to make this cardigan for my dad for ages. The cables are a little intimidating but the hold up was really all about button holes. They give me fits and they never ever look good. They always look like an accidental hole I didn’t bother to fix. I watched several vids that did not help at all. Then I found this vid. It’s clear, it’s concise, and more importantly my button hole came out clean neat and tight the first time. (The second time not so much, but I forgot to wrap the yarn on the first stitch so that’s on me. 😂) thank you so much for your help. I worked really hard on this sweater and I couldn’t bear to have giant ugly holes in it!
Thank you! Thank you! I was really struggling with buttonholes. Your excellent instruction as you demonstrated make all the difference to me!
I use this video all the time. It’s my fav.❤
Wowow. Great tutorial, I made my first button holes using another tutorial but they didn't mention the extra holes business, but watching this I tried again and it's a hundred times better, so great to get DETAIlL in terms of what not to do! Thanks so much.
Thank you very much for this detailed tutorial.
I’m at my button band, and I’m going to do this. Thanks
Very clear explanations, thank you so much!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much.
So clear and helpful, thanks!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! this is exactly what i needed. you rock!!
Very, very good instructions. Thank you.
Best instructions and absolutely best result for single row buttonholes - thankyou
You knit so so beautiful 😊
Perfect tutorial, thank you so much!
Excellent demonstration. I have had a frustrating relationship with button holes but that is in the past. I have been putting off knitting a fun sweater for a two year old because of the 18 buttonholes. Now I think I can I can do it (probably with 12 buttons). Many thanks.
Thank you so much, my new preferred buttonhole method.
Perfect explanation.
Awesome! I have tried EX's version without success. I really needed to watch it being done. I don't know if your version is just like hers, but I was able to learn from you. Thank you so much! I have now subscribed to Chilly Dog.😊

Great demonstration. I have marked where I want my 1" buttons to go on the button band, and have matched that spot with a marker for each on the buttonhole band. Since my buttons are 1", and I want to place them 3" apart, how do I know how many stitches to bind off? Your demo showed 4 bind offs + 1 extra to cast back on. Would I start the buttonhole 2 stitches before my marker? Or 3? Thanks for your help, that is the last step I need before finishing my sweater, Weld by Berroco. EDIT: I figured it out! I started the button hole 2 stitches before my marker and it worked out great! I had to do 9 of them.
Good job! It all depends on your gauge and the diameter of your buttons, but it sounds like you already figured that out.

What a fantastic, clear, concise and helpful video!
Do you happen to have written instructions as well? Thanks for the great video.
I don't have written instructions about this technique available.
I followed this pattern EXACTLY how she said to do it and I keep ending up with extra stitches! It’s so incredibly frustrating. I have more stitches now then when I casted on. GRR! Someone please help!
