I read somewhere an explanation for "Tuesday in November" This comes from back when the US was primarily an agricultural society. November is when the harvest is mostly done, but the weather isn't so bad that you can't strap up your horse and buggy and travel to go vote. Tuesday was selected because then you could go to church on Sunday, travel on Monday, and vote on Tuesday, then make it back in time to go to church the following Sunday. Of course, this is all outdated now.
My brain is telling me (never listen to my brain, I don't) that there's a myth about daylight savings time. I'm hoping you speak the truth. If so fascinating.
15 years ago on 60 minutes, they did an interview with a Senator. There's a building there in Washington that they all go to nearly on a daily basis. What they do there is make calls for donations and the Senator said that this starts nearly from day one and goes all the way to the next election. They spend as much time putting together money for the next election as they do reading and voting on bills. That was 15 years ago imagine what it's like now with billions spent on the last presidential election and this one set to be double that one. Money in politics is problem number 1. The next problem is they don't fear us.
Well, there is no sensible way to read and vote on bills when they’re 800 pages long and have a thousand laws not related to the name of the bill in them.
@@Reliquancy Corruption is deep, that's not disputed but more money always ramps up the corruption to higher levels. It's never been this corrupt all the way to the top, nor has it ever cost more to compete budget-wise in elections. To answer Chris' question, the reason why Election Day is on a Tuesday in November is because when the country started there were very few places where rural Americans could vote so it could take a day to travel by horse and carriage to vote. But, many colonists who were very Christian weren't going to travel on a Sunday, so Election Day was held on the 1st Tuesday in November so it would be a date everyone could remember. And, since originally the President got sworn in in March instead of January, it gave the state's 4 full months to count every vote and let the state government know the final results, while today results can be determined within a day and the President gets sworn in 10 weeks after Election Day.

He won because millions of Americans were tired of establishment politicians winning every time. Last election was Clinton. Now it's Biden. He is another fool that Chris Rock would label a duke that has been in government for 47 years. If Chris Rock truly wants term limits, then the term limit for Joe Biden should be over by now. Congressional term limits being a terrible idea is one of the few things political scientists all agree on. It’s tempting because we always seem to have bad choices. But term limits give more power to the executive branch and empower lobbyists and special interests, making the rich-folks-deciding problem even worse. Better representation is a campaign finance issue. Expand public financing of elections and overturn citizens united!

Chris is a genius who really knows what's up but he cannot say it outright because of the usual bullies, so he hints at it. Absolutely we need term limits in Congress, the professional politicians who have been in Congress for 100 years only care about re-election so they have created our overbloated federal government who cannot even balance the $4.5 trillion tax dollars they get annually. Congress was supposed to have average Americans who have real jobs and shop at Walmart or Target, but instead we have Celebrity politicians who fly around in private jets nothing in common with us.
@@karoljokappel9093 That is not a term limit, it is just a term. Term limit means you cannot serve more than a certain number of years. So you cannot keep running each term and end up serving in congress for 70 years like some have. “What other job do you get to keep for 4 years NO MATTER WHAT?” Great question! In ANY other job in the USA, Trump would’ve been fired-for his temper tantrums and authority issues ALONE, not to mention his lies, taking golf days instead of doing his job, etc., etc., etc. Even a manager at McDonalds wouldn’t put up with Trump’s horrible “people skills” and refusal to serve anyone but himself.
The Senate gets to keep their job for six years no matter what. Many appointed Judges get to keep their job for life no matter what. In professional sports people get signed to 4+ year deals with guaranteed money no matter the performance.
Deborah, you’re right about trump, but it’s been more or less true of most presidents in particular and politicians in general. Trump is not breaking new ground except maybe in exposure.
So your voting for Biden? A known liar through out his 47 years, has done nothing except trying to put Black people in jail and keeps Black kids out of schools because he doesnt want his kids in a 'racial jungle', a dementia patient that hides in his basement. Won't answer questions from reporters but will talk to Cardi B. And will step down and let Harris be President. Okuurr!
Ah hell, the whole senate on both sides would be out of a job. The one thing that should be mandatory to become Commander in Chief, is military experience! A minimum of two years in any branch of the military should be required. We are the only country that does not do this..

@@LinkinParkLover2012 So said the suburban women in 2016 who found Ms. Clinton so distasteful that they enabled Mr. Trump's election.
He's 100% right about the presidency and term limits.

RIP Chris Farley. I think Farley would have laughed at that Chris Farley joke
@Theo P so you know more about Farley than Chis Rock? Why would he diss his homie?
I’m here to support Chris and to appreciate his comedy.
Congress was supposed to have average Americans who have real jobs and shop at Walmart or Target, but instead we have Celebrity politicians who fly around in private jets nothing in common with us.
common sense only the house of reps have term limits. Make same rule apply to senate. 6 years is it. No more and House 2 years and thatsvit.
.
@@karoljokappel9093 That is not a term limit, it is just a term. Term limit means you cannot serve more than a certain number of years. So you cannot keep running each term and end up serving in congress for 70 years like some have. Too much power that is why Chris said we don't have a king (president has actual term limit since FDR) but congress can stay in office forever so they only care about re-election and power not what is best for the country.
@JediNxf7 exactly
I think we need career term limits. State and federal combined.

Take a bottle of Xanax....
Wow that audience is practically sitting on eachother's laps. They could've spread out a little..LOL

Never thought about how silly an election on a tuesday is
I love Chris Rock & he nailed some damn good points but holding elections on Tuesdays actually isn't silly at all; the whole point is its lack of noteworthiness, it's supposed to make it easier to successfully accomplish performing our civic duty (aka voting), regardless of each of our unique career and/or familial obligations, religious beliefs, etc.
The day of the week the election is on doesn't matter much to me, but we should have that day off work. Make it a holiday
