- Hey Guys! I'm pleased to share a new Blog with you as it has been a while! So many new things are on the go, and I wanted to share this new gear with you.
See my write up on my website here: nathanmclaren.com/blog/?page_i...
Really liked the video. Thanks!
The best of both worlds. No micking really needed, run through a mixer and speakers..works for me.
Great explanation of the use of triggers Thanks
I’m so glad that I tried this! I used a TD17 module and just love it! It really is unbelievable! I just love the consistency from gig to gig! Zero issues!
Nope, stock sounds that I’ve “adjusted” to 5 different kits
como tem pessoas que nao curtem? deve ser inveja, pois essa bateria é showw e o cara toca muito. parabens
Very informative, and sounds really solid, thank you for sharing.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato Thank you!! I appreciate the support and your viewing. Cheers! nm
+NMTeaching where can I buy those heads, I can't seem to find them online? thanks
Iim really impressed by this thing. By the way, I really dreaming to see you make a hybrid setup like these with Zildjian Gen 16! Please can you try a setup with the gen 16?
Playing starts from 3:27
how do I adjust the dynamics on the module? its a td50 but im sure the settings are alike? any info? i cant get the ghost notes on the snare!!!
Nice one mate, sounds great. Hey, what snare and toms where you using from the TD-30.
Very nice video, mostly I heard that side mounted triggers don't perform that good, but obviously it works very fine for you
can u put rubber rim covers on this aswell?
Thanks for sharing this! What kind of drum monitor or speakers do you use? Great sounding!! :)
Nate!!
Nice video! Been wanting to purchase the power ply heads but can't find them in the US. I've got the new RT triggers but the silent stroke heads don't feel and trigger like I want them to. Any insight when Roland will release them in the US?
Will this work on any acoustic kit. Got a pearl custom session. been thinking on converting to electric with pearl e pro live, but love roland a lot
so with headphones on it makes no noise? or can you still hear the acoustic drums?
Cant wait to set up with these with studio drummer, your velocity curve on your floor tom sounds like it was only triggering max, do you feel the triggers are more sensitive than a vdrum?
i have a spd sx and roland trigger and i can t have the same sensitivity do you have any advice ??? thanksss
I could not get the presets for the RT30HR to work perfectly using the internal setting. However when I switch to the PDX100 setting I got the triggering almost perfect. I don’t know if anyone else has had this discussion however using the PDX100 setting works Way better on TD27 module then the internal setting for the RT30HR IMO…I tried every setting possible with on luck. I could not get a light buzz roll with the threshold even at “0”. However when I set it to the PDX100 I was able to get a very light buzz roll with no double triggering with hard hits at all dynamics.
great info!
How is the situation if I connect directly to the pc sounds?
could the trigger be plugged to any edrum modules like dtx from yamaha?
Can you do rim hits witb the triggers
what brand is your Drum set.
Hey mate, what do you do on the resonant side of the snare? Just take the snares off? Or do you need another silent head for the resonant head of the snare to keep things quiet.
hey nathan, do you still do the front plates for the kd140? my band has been trying to contact you about one for some time with no such luck
I want to do this so bad .I live in an apartment where I can't play my regular drums . How much was your cymbal set up ??
So does this mean if I buy an acoustic kit, change the heads to mesh heads connect the triggers to module and I can practice at home silently and when I want to gig out I can change to regular heads and convert it back to acoustic?
Great video, thanks! Did you have any trouble getting the trigger sensitivity right, especially for soft strokes?
For my set up, im using a td11 module but it should be the same. for the snare i set the trigger as a pdx-8 put the mask time to 10, sensitivity to 17, threshold to 2, retrig cancel to 3, x talk cancel to 25 and get pretty good results
i have a video here if you want to see the performance of it ua-cam.com/video/4FYAuTRZDRw/v-deo.html
Do don't know if it's a dumb question but could you use the TD11
Sorry if this is a late response but yeah man, i converted my drums the other day and used an rt30 with my snare (with the td11 module). heres a vid of that being played bit ua-cam.com/video/4FYAuTRZDRw/v-deo.html
Hi. Can you share your snare/kick/tom’s module settings as I have just converted my Y-HA Stage Custom to a hybrid set using the RT family and TM-6 Pro + Remo Silent Stroke and can’t achieve such a great dynamic and sound as your one. Can you help please? Many thanks!
hello, did you find a solution?
Hey Nate . Just a question : Can you use this kind of setup drums with superior drummer? And the other question is : Do I have to put Roland mesh heads on the bottom of toms and snare as well ? Or only on top ?
Yes, you can use a VST like SD. I don‘t think a reso head is necessary, but probably effects the performance in one way or another.
Nice video. Is necessary to use Roland MH-2 Powerply heads, or the RT triggers works fine too with other brands (Remo Silenstroke, etc..) ??
yeah i use z-ed mesh drum heads
Sounds amazing! You really inspire me to do this! So all you need is a Roland module along with triggers and. Ur good ?
sounds good, until you see how much all that cost.
@@Memoreno94 Small price to pay for eternal salvation
What have you put your sensitivity/threshold/volume curve on? I have a very similar set up and cant get it just right
same problem do you have any solution ??? thks
Maybe something to do with the module? What module do you own?
Nice
Does it matter to the sound of mesh heads in any way, if you keep the normal acoustic bottom skin on the drums?
For my set up, i took the reso's out because its quieter acoustically and the triggers provide the sound for you. it doesn't matter how the acoustic drums actually sound with mesh heads because what it does is render them to e-drum pads
WOW! Holy cheese whiz! You are my hero right now! This video is AWESOME! I have the pearl Tru Trac (crap) on my Mapex at home to practice and I absolutely hate the sounds of the pearl redbox. Addictive drums and all that equipment is just too much. So I am going to ditch the redbox and trigger my kit with Roland. You have saved me literally thousands of $. Thank you SO much for posting this! Wait the TD30 is what I wanted because of the dynamic capability. Are the sounds the same with a cheaper version?
I use the expanded TD-20 module that I bought used. The sounds are close enough from the module vs TD-30. I trigger Toontrack's Superior Drummer 2.X for more realistic sounds. The TD-12 is also a nice solution and can usually be found ~$500. I use Remo SilentStroke heads because the Roland heads in this video are not available in the USA and Roland says they won't be made available here for some illogical reason. The Remos work very well when tensioned properly.
Hi
Is this still a good idea or are there better options to convert an acoustic to electronic ?
Or is just best to get a brand that already make this conversions like FIELD ?
Please someone let me know . This kit looks very cool converted but how accurate it is in 2020 ?
Buy those roland poweply or remo silentstroke and those roland trigger and module, they are working great
All I want to know, are they quiet enough for an apartment? i have an acoustic kit but obviously can't play in my apartment. Thanks
bluto212 yep!!!
Is this solution usefull for home drumming with a Real Drum Kit mate? Is there any ''real life loudness'' differences between your td30kv and this setup?
+Mert Kalem Absolutely! I would use this in my condo no problem! Just like I used my Regular TD-30KV. Should you wish to mute the bottom heads or the reso head on the bass- simply put something in it and you're good to go! Obviously, take your bottom snare wires off as well! :) Thanks for your comment!
Can you have rim click on snare?
you can . check out more youtube videos. they demo it. the RT-30HR - H = Head and R = rim
love the video. the dynamics seem amazing especially compared to most other electronic drums out there. I currently use a yamaha electric kit but looking to make a hybrid sort of kit like what youre using here. how would you say the dynamics compare to your regular td30 and acoustic kits?
also, what settings do you use for the triggers? im trying to get mine just right but cant seem to get the same accurate dynamics that you have
can something like this be done with a TD 25 module ?
ive just done this with my td25 and it works great! im still tweaking with the settings to get the best dynamics like nathan here has but overall as far as initial setup goes, it works pretty dam good.
also, i used the remo silent stroke heads instead of the powerplys
how do you trigger a cross stick?
The same
why dont companies sell kits like this ready made? every video ive seen is all custom made and not everyone is capable of putting all this together from bits and pieces. i just want to buy one ready made that works straight out the box
Jobeky Drums
yeah but can i have it in my flat ? in terms to avoid disturbing my next door neighbours
I could live with the snare sound, maybe the kick too, but the toms give me cancer...
You new that was a dom question right 💩
Let me guess. $5000+.
If you do it his way. For my set up, im using a td11 module with z-ed mesh heads, one rt30, 3 redshot ddrum triggers, a kit, hardware, drum splitters and roland cymbals which would come to about maybe about 900-1000 dollars
i have a video here if you want to see the performance of it ua-cam.com/video/4FYAuTRZDRw/v-deo.html
Cool, now get a good VST and lose those lame Roland sounds, and that machine gunning.
drumtravelfun what the hell is a vst??? What’s it stand for??? Is it that EZ drummer software?????
@@neewollah6875 yup ezdrummer, superiordrummer, that kinda stuff
For the 'want-it--now' generation too lazy too learn how to tune a drum correctly and quickly.
More like, the 'poor-as-fuck' generation because the previous one fucked everything up.
