    In this video, Alan runs you through the basics of using your Arsenal expansion pack. He will cover mixing into a song by adjusting your reverb, master EQ, ambience, room & overheads. This video covers the extreme of mixing into a rock song, but the opposite can be done to dry kits up for lighter options as well!
    Alan will follow-up with another version for drier and cleaner applications.
    Be sure to use great monitoring or headphones.

    Very useful video. I'll try to adapt these kits on the covers we do with my band, like on Muse, U2, ACDC, etc ;-) Thanks a lot !

    Thanks for this video very helpful and showed some stuff I never even looked at before. Hoping you can give us a quick lesson on what do to the kits when we are playing live and using the XLR outs or simple LR outs.

    Hey Alan.....I can really use your advice. I am a 60 year old guitarist and decided I want to learn drums late in life. I was close to buying the TD-27KV because I got a great price for an open box ($2850) and was going to buy a used KD-114 and KH 14 to go with the TD-27KV. I get a 20% discount off roland products so I could get the TD-50K2 for $5040. I just started following your channel and trust your advice. This will be used in my home studio and not for live gigging but want to have the most enjoyable experience to inspire me. Just thinking the 14in & 16ich cymbals may make learning drumming more enjoyable. Or I could get the TD 27KV and a used KH-13 because they are being sold pretty cheap now. Definitely going to purchase your expansion pack once I decide on the drums. Thanks

      Both are great, but if you have the budget, the 50 will give far more for the $2k difference.

    I find your videos really informative having only just got a Roland TD27KV kit. Which Vic Firth sticks are you using there? Thanks for the great videos

      I use the Buddy Rick nylon tipped sticks from Vic Firth.

      @@VExpressionsLTD Hi Allen. Started using the Buddy Rich sticks after watching you use them on yours videos. They have been great on the v-drums. I’m thinking of trying out the Trick beaters. Why did you choose those? What makes them a good option? Really enjoy your videos. Keep’em coming.

      They're great if you have a mesh head. You don't even need a patch. They're made of Delrin, and do not damage the mesh at all. Just ensure good tension and alignment. I've used them for around 8 years without any sign of damage. I actually need to do a video on them. See the link in the description to get them on Amazon.

    Hi Alan Thankyou for the video I have the TD 27 and wanted to expand my kit may I ask how you have so many cymbal/tom pads on your module? Did you have to use splitters ?

    • @VExpressionsLTD
      @VExpressionsLTD  4 місяці тому

      So, this video is the 50X. I'm using all possible inputs. When using the 27, I again use all the possible inputs. Thus, I lose a tom and two cyms, IIRC.

    I find these very informative and under the headphones it may sound great but in a live setting with much larger speakers and the room is a live large room how are the drum sounds affected coming out of 18" subs and 12" mid range speakers?

    • @VExpressionsLTD
      @VExpressionsLTD  10 місяців тому

      They'll be fine if you lower/remove the ambiance as needed.

  • @paparaphatv
    @paparaphatv Рік тому

    Is the effect of ambience reflected in multi-out? Or is the multi-out output purely for each channel (snares, kicks, toms, cymbals)?

    • @VExpressionsLTD
      @VExpressionsLTD  Рік тому +1

      Ambience can be routed through your direct outs. Remember, direct outs (instruments) carry no additional effects or master effects. So, those instruments will only carry the pad mixing. You would need to replicate the ambience and master mixing externally. Most people just run the master L/R and maybe kick, snare, and toms to blend in for additional volume if needed. It also helps control instrument balance at the FOH. Hope that helps.

      @@VExpressionsLTD That's such a great answer. This is an idea I hadn't thought of. A volume with a kicksnare tom added to the master LR.. let's try it.
