- After 67 years on the Las Vegas Strip, the iconic Tropicana Hotel was reduced to rubble, making room for a new baseball stadium.
A dazzling fireworks and drone show above the iconic hotel preceded the nearly 2,200 pounds of explosives that brought both towers crumbling down.

Imagine all that asbestos dust in the air there.
I know it's hard for you to use your brain. But if you didn't notice the building had been completely gutted beforehand to remove all the asbestos.
@@CheeseMiser asbestos inspection for the Tropicana, which was conducted by RiskNomics for the Bally’s Corporation. The inspection indicates asbestos in duct seam sealant, fittings on fiberglass insulation throughout the basement, casino and mezzanine levels and many other areas. But, according to you they removed each and every molecule of asbestos. You just go on in your LA LA dream state.
@christinejohnson2839 i disnt say that.
R.I.P Tropicana Las Vegas 1957 - 2024, You forever be missed...
EDIT: Happy Birthday Pixar Pete Docter! (October 9th)
Also: R.I.P Tropicana Field 1990 - 2024, You won't be missed 😂😂
"After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds. But in the end, I wound up right back where I started."
- Sam 'Ace' Rothstein
LOVE THAT QUOTE FROM CASINO!!!
They are building a Baseball Stadium right downtown ? That seems a bit stupid. The traffic alone will shut the strip down.
Tropicana and LV Blvd is not ‘downtown’.
Downtown Vegas is further up north. Where Fremont meets up with Las Vegas boulevard.
It is still a stupid place to build a stadium. Most locals don't even want it.
Glad i had visited it & all I thought of when i seen this was Ricky Ricardo DEZI !
Fun fact: a building called the Harmon was taken down floor by floor at city center because they built it the wrong way earlier this century 😂
I believe the reason was because the engineers failed to factor in all the weight of the furniture, interior designs, and hotel guests. Hence the structure was unstable and had to be torn down completely. They spent a ton of extra money trying to keep this quiet.
It took months to build. Seconds to destroy.
What a Bummer.
For anyone that has the "4D Cityscape Las Vegas" puzzle, time to remove the Tropicana from it....
Ohnoes! Idk why seeing the actual demolition made me sad 😢 *waaah *
Wow, same thing that happened in New York when we thought the planes did that....
Concrete jungle and declining population, let's celebrate lifestyle changes together 😂🎉
Reminds me of 9-11 but I know that planes and jet fuel made building 7 fall…
Oh wait…
Get your head checked 😂
@@jasonjamesbisson wow, still believe it was the planes,
@@couchpoet1Building 7 did fall due to the jet fuel fires caused by the towers falling. CDI didn't implode it if they did using planes full of people is just wrong.
Such a loss. Had many great times at the Tropicana. The destruction should have been a solemn and respectful event. Don't forget, familiarity breeds contempt. When the newness of the stadium wears off and the A's continue to suck, many people might regret this move.
only 67 years and they have to tear it down
same thing happening to me through old age
Sad to see it go.
why go to vegas when cali is right next door
Yes. Several times. In the early days they had large parots perched as you walked to the check-in. A shame it has gone.
I went to Vegas for an airshow and none of us even bothered to go on the strip. Anyone who enjoyed Vegas up until the 90s knows why.
Yep: They keep doing dumb things, like the F1 nonsense.
10000000%%%% FACTS.
You are with Bill's now.
Every sad ,but everything come to the end R I P 🙏🙏🙏
Why at night?
better for the light show and less people out and about to potentially get hurt. also affects less traffic when they close the roads down for it
I left my wallet in there
Quite sad honestly, even though I didn't ever go there.
I worked in flamingo watch it will be next so sad. Guess Las vegas won't be more casinos
Controlled demolitions remind me of bad things
Gee, that fell just like buildings #1, #2 and #7 on 9/11/2001
Get some glasses
Looks like the kind of controlled implosion of the Twin Towers in 911.
LOL
Cool 😎
911 was done almost the same
Exactly the same actually, that's how the BBC were able to report the collapse of Building #7, 20 minutes before it actually came down. 🤔
But it was passenger aircrafts and a act a terrorism
@@EvilNeuro_IITPPNo it wasn’t, it was a scheduled sacrifice and drastic change to the security of America. No building is supposed to crumble like that unless it’s a demolition, and both of them fell the same way. Wake up.
Not even close. This fell from the bottom. Wtc fell from the top. Like how you fell on your head as a child
Correction: it was done the same, not almost the same
That looks like what happened to our Twin Towers and Bldg 7 on 9/11!
You need glasses
@@CheeseMiser Controlled demolitions right in our faces, but who wants to believe that our own govt was behind such a horrible thing, right?!
cool
Same dynamite used in the past in nyc. I think government is broke. This is a wasted opportunity to head to Russia or china.
Get a hold of yourself!!!
It's So Sad How People In This World Is So BLIND, Sorry To Oakland A"s Fans, But YES it Was a Setup, MLB Wanted The A"s Out Of Oakland Because They Find a State As a Sucker For Free Money AND Raiders Making Alot Of Money There.. Mr. Joe Jacob And Others Wanted To Buy The Team To Keep Them There BUT MLB Wanted a Buyer To Move Team, Alot Of Owners Was Paying More There Worth An MLB Said Don't Do It, AND Yes It's a Fact, I Talked To Someone In Fisher Owner Business Partners 😮😮😮😢
When the Vagas mayor said the A's should stay in Oakland, That Was a Straight Lie, Because Vagas Was Taking To A's For 8 Years To Move Team To Vagas But YES Y'all Vagas Says To Stay In Oakland Cause They Don't Want To Get Sued..😮😮😮😢
Thanks Biden
Another piece of history gone for good !! I still have fond memories of gambling in that casino !!
Vegas is going in the most impersonal ugly corporate Direction it's ever been in. None of the sophistication that made it cool exist anymore. Avoid.
I remember going to Denny's and putting money into a slot machine in the toilet there, 1976, thought it was magic...
The ending scene in the movie "Casino" sums up Vegas today
It’s sole existence is to remove you from you hard earned money. Don’t romanticize about it.
It’s a cesspool of debauchery and addiction with entertainment.
Guess there was a lot of dirty things going on in there✝️🙏🙏🙏
