00:00 The cure for no motivation for art
ill add a touch here for my fellow ADHD folks. repeat after me : One Thing At A Time !, i know you have a million hobbies and projects, but trying to accomplish all of them at once will burn you out quick. Plus if you have ADHD then your brain is terrible at multi tasking anyway.
Stop feeling guilty about neglecting one project and focus on just one project until you make significant progress.
I did this and my productivity was raised by 1000%. i am not kidding. i basically just got rid of the guilt and figured out what felt right to work on out of the pile. and made it my mission to finish it no matter what.
i went from 2 renders per month , to over 100 renders dedicated to a short private comic ! being focused on the One thing meant deciding what to do per day was easy. because "work" was that one thing. not a giant spaghetti of tasks to overwhelm me.
Also , use parking lots ! its like a checklist but with a Hard limit on how many things you can add to it. and you only add active daily tasks. it serves to help you remember side quests. combine this with alarms on your phone and PC that specifically remind you to check your parking lot. otherwise you will forget about them.
Please never stop giving these tips! I'm in the process of getting diagnosed, and your tips have made a lot of sense to me TwT
That’s very kind of you to offer your insights. Thank you
I'll give the Pomodoro a try again for 45 mins. 'Eat the frog' also doesn't work for me. I do much better with the reverse way.
Yeah that whole idea of doing the hardest thing first is easier to warm up to rather than start with, isn't it?
recording your project works as Pomodoro too, if you left it recording your phone eat the memory xD
Oh yeah? Is that what you do to record your processes?
Great advise!
Glad to hear! What advice was most valuable for you in this video?
I only draw when I am inspired to draw.
and how do you control your inspiration?
@@TheArtMentor I wait until I have a coherent idea for art.
i am drawing everyday because i suffer if i dont :) right now for two months i am practicing drawing heads (anime style) i also did a little practice in anatomy like drawing the skull
That’s great for consistency! What do you like to draw every day?
@@TheArtMentor right now different angles of the skull and anime heads
great exercise! Thanks for sharing
12:30 damn you didnt have to call me out like this. 😭
Haha sorry did I perfectly outline your struggle? 😂 so how are you overcoming that?
trying to be nice to myself whenever I cant do it, being consistent and also telling myself I only have to do it for 2 minutes if I don't have energy for more, but at least I started and did a little bit. These probably helped me the most 🤔thank you for the reminder though, I will tidy up now 😂 @@TheArtMentor
it'll make a big difference! Have you seen my other video on what to do when you feel like you have no energy for art?
Hello teacher! I'm a classic oil painter, but I can't resist watching all your videos. The advice you give is solid. Thank you for your work!
Great to have you here! Which of these strategies did you like that you’d like to start using?
I have ADHD and doing art for more than a couple hours is impossible for me 🤣
That’s fine. Who says you need to work for more than that in a day? 🙃
@@TheArtMentor thank you mentor 🙏🏿
My pleasure! Did you think it wasn’t okay to draw for anything less than hours on end? I’ve heard that going around for a long time and I definitely don’t agree with that idea
@@TheArtMentor I just don't think I'll be able to draw anything worthwhile that can impress myself and other people if I don't put in the time, but that's just what I think.
Can I tell you that every artist feels or felt the way you do right now? That doubt is a part of the process, and just stay strong and be kind to yourself while you learn, okay?
